Purpose: This paper presents a systematic literature review of research examining the relationship between personality traits and green consumption behaviour. The objective is to synthesize the fragmented findings within this domain, identify the primary personality frameworks and traits under investigation, analyze the key relationships and contingencies, and propose a robust agenda for future research. Methodology: A systematic review was conducted using major academic databases Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed. After a structured screening process against predefined inclusion criteria, a final corpus of 139 research papers and articles were selected for in-depth analysis and synthesis. Findings: The review reveals that the Five-Factor Model of personality dominates the field. Openness to Experience and Agreeableness emerge as the most consistent and robust positive predictors of various forms of green consumption. The findings for Conscientiousness are more nuanced, while Extraversion and Neuroticism show weak and inconsistent relationships. The analysis also uncovers significant heterogeneity in the conceptualization and measurement of green consumption, ranging from general attitudes and purchase intentions to specific self-reported and actual behaviours. Furthermore, the review highlights a growing body of literature exploring mediating mechanisms (environmental concern, green self-identity) and moderating factors (demographic, contextual, and cultural variables) that shape these personality-behaviour links. Emerging research on other frameworks, such as the Dark Triad, is also identified. Originality Value: This review provides a comprehensive and systematic synthesis of the literature on personality and green consumption. By identifying key trends, methodological inconsistencies, and critical knowledge gaps, it offers a clear roadmap for future theoretical and empirical advancements. The findings also hold practical value for marketers and policymakers seeking to design more effective, personality-informed strategies to promote sustainable consumer behaviour.

To evaluate the dietary nutritional profile according to the suggestions of the Age-Related Eye Disease Study 2 (AREDS2) in Turkish patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The study included patients diagnosed with non-neovascular AMD in one or both eyes and who underwent routine follow-up in retina clinics at tertiary centers in İstanbul between May 12 and May 27, 2025. An ocular nutrition questionnaire prepared according to AREDS2 suggestions was translated into Turkish. The survey was conducted among our cohort after its reproducibility and validity were confirmed. Consumption of fish-shellfish, hazelnut-walnut-peanut, eggs, leafy greens, red pepper, carrot-pumpkin, and peppers-green tea-strawberry-citrus (eicosapentaenoic acid, docosahexaenoic acid, omega 3, lutein, zeaxanthin, beta-carotene, and antioxidant-rich foods, respectively), micronutrient supplementation, smoking, physical activity, anxiety about vision loss, education level, and monthly income were recorded. A total of 530 patients from 7 clinics who answered all questions were evaluated. Adequate consumption of omega-3-rich foods consumption was reported by 19.3% of participants, whereas 57.2% reported no fish intake in the last week. Adequate consumption of foods rich in lutein/zeaxanthin, beta-carotene, and antioxidants was reported by 63.6%, 41.7%, and 4.7% of patients, respectively, and regular micronutrient supplementation was reported by 35.5%. Of the patients, 23.6% reported high anxiety about vision loss, 69.8% reported elementary or lower education, and 64.9% had a 20,000 TRY or lower monthly income. Micronutrient intake was positively associated with anxiety (p=0.0001) and education (p=0.02) but not with monthly income (p=0.1). According to this first report in Turkish patients with AMD which was evaluated nutrition profile based on AREDS2 suggestions, patients showed low adherence to AREDS recommendations for micronutrient intake and lifestyle modifications. Awareness among patients and ophthalmologists needs improvement.

This study examines the pivotal role of artificial intelligence (AI) in advancing the urban green transition (UGT), with a particular focus on the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) Urban Agglomeration. Drawing on panel data from 40 cities in the YRD between 2012 and 2024, the research utilizes benchmark regression, non-linear effect analysis, and spatial econometric models to investigate how AI influences UGT through production, consumption, and agglomeration channels. The main findings are as follows: (1) AI exerts a significant positive effect on UGT. (2) UGT exhibits strong spatial autocorrelation, whereas AI's impact is characterized by robust local promotion but limited spatial spillover. (3) The influence of AI displays marked heterogeneity, varying by urban hierarchy, geographic location, resource endowment, and levels of institutional and market development. (4) The effects of AI on UGT are mediated by fixed capital stock, industrial structure upgrading, and consumption levels. Additionally, digital infrastructure, green consumption awareness, and digital industry agglomeration serve as moderating factors. AI's influence also exhibits nonlinear diminishing marginal effects at specific thresholds in productive services and agricultural agglomeration. These results highlight the multifaceted mechanisms through which AI drives sustainable urban development and offer policy implications for fostering green transformation in metropolitan regions.

Against the backdrop of global warming, land use change critically shapes regional carbon budgets by altering both emission sources and carbon sinks. Existing studies predominantly focus on macro-scales, overlooking county-level heterogeneity and future trajectories, thus limiting precise carbon balance management. The Chengdu Plain, as a key economic agglomeration and upper Yangtze ecological barrier, faces severe carbon imbalance challenges due to rapid urbanization. This study contributes three novel insights: (i) integrating county-scale analysis with future land use simulation to project carbon budget dynamics; (ii) applying GTWR to reveal spatiotemporally heterogeneous driving mechanisms that macro-scale studies mask; and (iii) developing a county typology-based carbon management framework. (1) From 2000 to 2030, construction land expanded significantly while cropland, forest, and grassland continuously contracted; (2) The net carbon budget (net emissions) followed a trajectory of initial increase and subsequent decline, peaking at 6673.122 × 10⁴ t in 2020 before declining to a projected 6409.177 × 10⁴ t by 2030. Construction land was the dominant carbon source, while forests served as the primary carbon sink, together accounting for over 95% of the gross budget; (3) County-level net carbon budgets exhibited strong positive spatial autocorrelation, dominated by High-High and Low-Low agglomeration patterns; (4) GTWR results indicated that consumption level (mean coefficient: 0.466), urbanization level (0.392), population size (0.388), and industrial structure (0.196) positively drove net carbon emissions, while investment level (-0.048) exhibited an inhibiting effect not captured in average macro-scale models. Spatiotemporal heterogeneity was notable. Achieving a managed regional carbon balance requires differentiated county-level strategies: For urban core counties, low-carbon community transformation and optimized urban layout; for industrial counties, carbon intensity thresholds and green industrial land policies; for underdeveloped southwest counties, green consumption promotion; and cross-regional carbon compensation mechanisms to strengthen sink protection. This county-scale, mechanism-based framework provides a scientific toolkit for precise carbon balance management in ecologically and economically vital regions.

Renewable energy is a cornerstone for addressing ecological degradation, resource depletion and climate risk. Can the new energy demonstration urban construction (NEDC) as an important policy tool of renewable energy development improve ecological environmental resilience (ENR)? Based on a panel data of 283 prefecture level and above cities from 2011 to 2022, the dual machine learning model is constructed to explore the impact of NEDC on ENR. The study finds that the NEDC is an important policy driver for enhancing ENR. Industrial structure upgrading, green technology innovation and energy consumption are the crucial influence pathways. There is significant heterogeneity of geographic location and resource abundance in the impact of NEDC on ENR. The findings of the study provide policy references for relevant departments to continuously optimize and promote the NEDC. Through the rising of ENR, the beautiful modernization construction of harmonious coexistence between human and nature is being comprehensively promoted.

Purpose This study investigates how facial recognition technology (FRT) experiences influence green consumption. It examines a serial mediating mechanism involving uniqueness perception and acquisitive impression management, alongside the moderating role of the application context. Design/methodology/approach Across three experimental studies, including a real-behavior laboratory experiment, this research tests a moderated serial mediation framework. The design captures both purchasing intentions and actual consumption choices to explore the psychological spillover effects triggered by biometric interactions. Findings Results demonstrate that FRT promotes green consumption choices. Rather than operating as a conventional surveillance tool, FRT functions as an identity-salient cue that awakens consumers’ perception of uniqueness. This internal cognitive realization sequentially triggers acquisitive impression management, motivating individuals to select eco-friendly products as costly signals to project a distinct, prosocial identity. Furthermore, the high social visibility inherent in public contexts amplifies this entire serial mediation chain compared to private settings. Practical implications Findings position biometric technology as a psychological catalyst for sustainable behavior, extending its value beyond transactional efficiency. Marketers can strategically deploy FRT, particularly in public retail environments, to activate identity-expressive motives and encourage environmentally conscious consumer decisions. Originality/value This research identifies a serial identity-signaling mechanism linking biometric interaction to green consumption. By integrating self-perception and impression management theories, the study establishes that biometric interaction triggers an internal uniqueness awakening that activates external social-signaling motivations. It extends facial recognition research from adoption antecedents to downstream consequences, demonstrating how application contexts catalyze the translation of digital identity-recognition into environmentally conscious choices.

Money plays an important role in consumer decisions, yet its impact on green consumption has been studied primarily through attitudinal measures, with less attention to actual behaviour, and the moderating role of social observation remains unclear. To address this gap, this research investigates the effects of money priming and social observation on green consumption behaviour. In Experiment 1, participants first completed a scrambled-sentence task and then a consumption choice task. Results indicated that money priming significantly decreased green consumption. Experiment 2 further examined the moderating role of social observation. It was found that money priming reduced green consumption only under non-observable conditions; when decisions were observable, this negative effect disappeared. Overall, these findings demonstrate that while money priming exerts a negative effect on green consumption, social observation can counteract it. These findings suggest that increasing the social visibility of green consumption can promote sustainable development.

Purpose This paper investigates the factors shaping craft beer consumers' choices in a rural, wine-oriented region of Southwestern France. It proposes a multidimensional consumer typology that accounts for sensory preferences (taste and conviviality), socio-demographic characteristics and value-based attitudes (local development and environmental protection). Design/methodology/approach An online questionnaire was administered between January and May 2024 across craft beer channels (including direct sales, specialised bars, festivals, online forums and random street survey), yielding 516 responses from regular and occasional consumers. The questionnaire covered consumption habits, environmental attitudes, craft knowledge and socio-demographic characteristics. Analysis combined multiple correspondence analysis, hierarchical cluster analysis and lexicometric analysis. Findings Five consumer profiles emerged: Joyful Epicureans, Refined Connoisseurs, Occasional Tasters, Explorers and Curious Classicists. Taste and conviviality dominate across profiles. Local economic support motivates consumers moderately; environmental and territorial engagements remain weak. The results highlight attitude-behaviour gaps, as respondents articulate ethical concerns while their reported choices prioritise enjoyment, habit and situational constraints. Originality/value This study combines quantitative clustering and qualitative lexicometric methods to map craft beer consumers. It reveals that craft beer consumption sits at the intersection of hedonism, sociality and moderate civic engagement rather than strong environmental commitment, challenging assumptions about political consumerism in local food movements. Findings inform targeted strategies for producers and local development actors.

ABSTRACT Against the backdrop of escalating global climate risks and rising geopolitical uncertainties, enhancing energy resilience (ER) is crucial for ensuring national energy security and supporting sustainable economic and social development. As a strategic initiative to accelerate technological progress and industrial transformation, the implementation of Artificial Intelligence Innovation Development (AIID) policy injects new potential for strengthening urban ER. Utilizing panel data of 284 Chinese cities spanning 2014 to 2022, this study employs a multi-period difference-in-differences model to examine how AIID policy affects urban ER. The results indicate that the AIID policy strengthens the ER of pilot cities, and its impact is more pronounced in central and western cities, transportation hub cities, high climate risk cities, and cities with low energy self-sufficiency. Transmission mechanism analysis shows that allocation, structural and technological effects are key channels for AIID policy to enhance ER. Moderating analysis reveals that the improvement of government innovation support, marketization level and public green consumption behaviour can boost policy effectiveness. Additionally, the AIID policy promotes ER in adjacent cities, with a positive radiation boundary of 250 km. Our findings offer valuable implications for improving urban energy resilience and promoting the intelligent development of energy systems.

Background and Objectives: Green tea is known for its powerful antioxidant properties. However, the effects of green tea consumption during pregnancy on neonatal development and the mechanisms of these effects are not fully understood. The aim of this study was to investigate potential damage to atrial cardiomyocytes of newborn rat pups whose mothers received green tea during pregnancy and to elucidate the apoptotic mechanisms underlying this possible damage. Materials and Methods: Wistar albino rats (weighing 200–220 g, 10 weeks old) were used in this study. Following the confirmation of pregnancy, rats were randomly assigned to groups, and the experimental group was administered green tea by oral gavage at a dose of 50 mg/kg per day for 21 days. Atrial cardiomyocytes and mitral valve cells from newborn pups (postnatal day 1) were obtained and evaluated immunohistochemically for cytochrome c, caspase-9, and caspase-3 expression. Results: TUNEL analysis revealed a significant increase in DNA fragmentation in the green tea group, with the median number of apoptotic cells per region of interest (ROI) rising from 5.5 to 24.5 in atrial cardiomyocytes (p < 0.001), and from 2.0 to 10.0 in mitral valve cells (p < 0.05). Immunohistochemically, the control group showed faint-to-weak basal immunoreactivity of cytochrome c and caspase-3, and weak-to-moderate expression of caspase-9. In the green tea group, caspase-3 immunoreactivity was moderate, while cytochrome c and caspase-9 immunoreactivity were significantly higher. Quantitative HSCORE analysis confirmed significant elevations in atrial cardiomyocytes for cytochrome c (from 65.0 to 210.0; p < 0.001), caspase-9 (from 85.0 to 140.0; p < 0.001), and caspase-3 (from 60.0 to 120.5; p < 0.001). Similar statistically significant increases were observed across all corresponding markers in the mitral valve cells (p < 0.05). Overall, the induction of apoptosis was notably more pronounced in atrial cardiomyocytes than in mitral valve cells. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that the mechanism of potential damage in atrial cardiomyocytes of newborn rat pups is associated with mitochondria-mediated apoptosis, potentially triggered by activation of the cytochrome c, caspase-9 and caspase-3 axis. These results highlight the importance of exercising caution regarding the consumption of green tea supplements during pregnancy. Further studies are needed to correlate these preliminary neonatal observations with clinical outcomes.
