How is AIGC shaping the world: an analysis of bibliometrics

Introduction. While artificial intelligence-generated content (AIGC) research is expanding, it largely focuses on specific domains, with limited analysis of its global impact across countries and disciplines. This paper seeks to fill that gap, offering insights into regional AIGC development for policymakers, investors, and researchers. Data and Methods. Using bibliometric methods, this study analyses 11,638 AIGC-related publications from the period between ChatGPT’s release on November 30, 2022, and July 31, 2024. A set of indicators is applied to assess the research performance globally, across continents, and in top-performing countries/regions. Analysis and Results. Findings show global engagement in AIGC research, focusing on AI technological advancements, healthcare, education, and ethics. However, there is a notable lack of integration between AIGC and basic disciplines. AIGC research performance mirrors global economic development patterns, reflecting significant imbalances. Conclusions. The study emphasizes the unequal global development of AIGC, calling for enhanced international cooperation, optimized resource allocation, and tailored strategies to close technological gaps.

Can the Development of Digital Inclusive Finance Curb Carbon Emissions?: A Spatial Panel Analysis for China Under the PVAR Approach

Achieving the goals of carbon peak and carbon neutrality is crucial for the balance of global economic development with carbon emissions reduction and ecological environment protection, which are essential for the sustainability of human development. Digital inclusive finance (DIF), as an emerging force capable of promoting economic growth and technological innovation, plays a significant role in curbing carbon emissions. By using the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2011 to 2021 and employing the panel vector autoregression (PVAR) model, this study empirically investigates the impact of DIF on total carbon emissions (TCE) and carbon emission intensity (CEI) from the perspective of technological innovation. The results show that DIF significantly reduces TCE and CEI and can further decrease TCE and CEI by promoting the level of technological innovation. The results of the impulse response function (IRF) reveal that technological innovation has a more significant and volatile impact on CEI compared to its effect on TCE. Moreover, heterogeneity analysis suggests that the impact of DIF on the reduction in carbon emissions is characterized by regional heterogeneity, with the impact of DIF on TCE in the central regions being the most pronounced, significantly influenced by the spillover effects from the eastern regions. Further research finds that the western regions exhibit a more significant impact of technological innovation levels on CEI compared to the eastern regions, with a discernible trend towards the convergence of inter-provincial disparities in CEI in the process of development.

The Impact of Digital Transformation on High-Quality Development of Manufacturing Enterprises: An Integrated Perspective on Efficiency and Social Responsibility

With the rise of a new wave of technological revolution and industrial transformation, digital technology has become a key force driving global economic and social development. Digital technology holds significant advantages in promoting industrial transformation and upgrading, as well as facilitating the high-quality development of manufacturing enterprises. This study selects 482 manufacturing enterprises in the Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share markets from 2010 to 2022 as samples and comprehensively measures the high-quality development level of enterprises from the two dimensions of production efficiency and social responsibility. Based on this, a two-way fixed effect model is used to test the impact of digital technology on the high-quality development of manufacturing enterprises. The results show that the digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises enhances their level of high-quality development by improving production efficiency and strengthening social responsibility. This conclusion remains robust after a series of robustness checks. The mechanism analysis reveals that digitalization influences the high-quality development of manufacturing enterprises by altering financing costs, innovation output, and human capital. The heterogeneity analysis indicates that this impact varies significantly across ownership types, industries, and regions. Therefore, further efforts should be made to promote the digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises, strengthen technological innovation, enhance talent cultivation, and promote industrial integration, thereby leveraging digital technology to significantly improve high-quality development levels.

The Research and Practice of ESG under the Belt and Road Initiative

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), proposed in 2013, has become a transformative global strategy fostering economic collaboration, infrastructure development, and connectivity across Asia, Europe, and Africa. However, as the emphasis on sustainable development grows, the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices within the BRI framework has emerged as a critical focus. This essay examines the current state of ESG implementation under the BRI, highlighting notable corporate case studies and regional variations. It identifies key challenges such as regulatory inconsistencies, cultural and social barriers, economic pressures, and a lack of expertise in participating countries. Building on these insights, the essay proposes strategies for improvement, including establishing regional ESG hubs, expanding multilateral financial support, sharing best practices, and developing global ESG monitoring systems. These measures underscore the importance of international cooperation and knowledge sharing in aligning BRI projects with global sustainability goals. The results help to learn more about how to include ESG factors in big international projects. They also give policymakers and other interested parties useful tips on how to get rid of problems and ensure long-term success.

Live Clean, Make Green! Green Management Practices and their Role in Achieving Sustainable Development in Hotels: Barriers and Drivers

This study aims to analyze the internal and external factors that facilitate or hinder the adoption of environmental management techniques in Saudi hotels and to assess the impact of these practices, technologies, and environmental management systems on advancing environmental protection and sustainability. Global economic, cultural, and technical developments are accelerating, making managing environmental deterioration and overuse of natural resources more difficult. The study also looks at how environmental management systems and technology may affect environmental conservation in the future. Data from 408 full-time employees of five-star hotels were analyzed using (PLS-SEM) to assess the effect of technologies on environmental protection initiatives. The results show that using technology integration promotes sustainability and catalyzes ecological conservation, with quantifiable benefits including cost savings and improved environmental outcomes. These programs have reduced pollution significantly, encouraged environmentally friendly economic practices, and lessened the depletion of natural resources over the past ten years. This study emphasizes technology's important role in advancing environmental sustainability. It offers a fresh viewpoint on how businesses may leverage digital advances to strengthen green activities and contribute to an environmentally friendly future.

Organoid Models to Study Human Infectious Diseases.

Infectious diseases have become significant events that threaten global public health and economic development. Since the 20th century, multiple outbreaks of infectious diseases have gradually deepened humanity's understanding of viral infections, prevention and treatment. Organoids possess a high degree of similarity to human physiological states and have strong self-organising capabilities. Research on infectious diseases based on organoids offers significant advantages in terms of availability, editability and diversity. In this perspective, we briefly introduce the development of organoids, focusing on historically significant infectious diseases that have caused fatal harm to human health, such as HIV, ZIKV, SARS-CoV-2 and MPXV. We further summarise relevant research on the pathogenic mechanisms of these viruses based on organoid models, host reactivity, and therapeutic strategies. Finally, we list the latest research techniques combined with organoid models, discuss the challenges faced in the development of organoids and look forward to the future prospects of organoids in vaccine and drug development.

By examining the legal frameworks, regulatory mechanisms, and effective strategies for IPR protection, this analysis will provide valuable insights into how MNEs can navigate the multifaceted issues surrounding intellectual property. Ultimately, this essay posits that a robust understanding and implementation of IPR not only enhances the competitive edge of MNEs but also contributes to global innovation and economic development.

China's technological innovation under the background of economic globalization challenges

economic globalization has brought the global economy development power to a certain extent promoted the global contact, promote the development of the world economy, all kinds of commodities and enrich the lives of people all over the world. However, economic globalization has also brought greater international competition. While economic globalization has brought development opportunities to developing countries, it has also increasingly widened the global wealth gap between countries. In the context of globalization, the competition between countries is fiercer. With the continuous development of China's economy and the constant change and development of the trend of economic globalization, there are more and more studies on China's international competitiveness. Economic competitiveness is one of the most important parts of international competitiveness. Since the endogenous growth theory was put forward, people have paid more and more attention to the role of technological innovation in long-term economic growth. At the same time, the current global economic development is slow, and innovation has become a breakthrough for countries to find development. For a long time, the rapid growth of China's economy has largely relied on investment and capital accumulation and other factors. Since 2010, global competition has intensified and economic growth has encountered challenges, China has begun to plan to change the growth mode driven by factors. In May 2016, the Outline of the National Innovation-Driven Development Strategy made it clear that innovation-driven development was listed as a national strategy, and the report of the 19th National Congress in 2017 mentioned that technological innovation would become the most important force to promote the economy. This paper comprehensively reviews the relationship between economic globalization and technological innovation, finds out some problems existing in China's technological innovation under the background of economic globalization, and puts forward some suggestions.

Exploring the Nexus Between Technological Innovation, Environmental Regulation, Human Capital, and Low-Carbon Economy

This paper examines the panel data from 43 countries along the “Belt and Road” Initiative from 2000 to 2022 against the backdrop of global green low-carbon economic development. First, it explores the mechanism of action between technological innovation (TN) and the low-carbon economy (LE) using a panel fixed effects model. Second, by introducing environmental regulation (ER) and human capital (EDU) as moderating variables, it constructs a panel threshold model to investigate the nonlinear moderating effects in the relationship between TN and low-carbon economic development. Finally, the paper further categorizes these countries into samples to analyze the potential heterogeneity of the aforementioned effects. The empirical results indicate that: (1) TN has a negative effect on the LE of countries along the “Belt and Road”; (2) ER plays a positive moderating role in the influence of TN on the LE of these countries, while EDU exhibits a negative moderating role. Further research reveals a significant double-threshold effect of EDU in the relationship between TN and the LE, indicating that the negative effects of TN on the LE diminish as EDU increases. (3) This threshold effect displays significant heterogeneity at different levels of economic development and EDU. Digital entrepreneurial ecosystem and female entrepreneurial activity

This study explores the relationship between the digital entrepreneurial ecosystem and female entrepreneurial activity in 45 countries using Fuzzy Set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA). It highlights the importance of female entrepreneurship for economic and social development and examines how Digital Entrepreneurial Ecosystem elements collectively impact female entrepreneurial activity. Methodologically, it combines Necessary Condition Analysis (NCA) and fsQCA, using data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) 2022 and the 2018 Global Digital Economy Development Index Report. The research identifies key Digital Entrepreneurial Ecosystem configurations that foster high levels of female entrepreneurial activity, characterized by varying societal norms and support systems. This approach challenges traditional linear models by highlighting a spectrum of conditions influencing female entrepreneurial activity. The study integrates Digital Entrepreneurial Ecosystem into female entrepreneurship analysis, providing insights for policymakers and stakeholders. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of how digital transformation influences the landscape of female entrepreneurship, emphasizing the role of digital ecosystems in promoting inclusive entrepreneurship.

Digital driven success: the digitalization effect on SME performance

ABSTRACT Small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are crucial to global economic development but face unique digitalization challenges. This study investigates how digitalization impacts SME performance using a mixed-method approach, combining archival data analysis of 61,054 U.S. SMEs and a survey of 45 SMEs. It examines the role of dynamic capabilities (opportunity sensing, seizing, and transforming) in mediating the digitalization-performance relationship. The results show technologies enhancing dynamic capabilities, like analytics, mobile, IoT, platforms, and cloud, consistently improve performance. Seizing opportunities and transforming them into strategies emerge as key to translating digitalization into gains. The archival data provide a quantitative overview, while the survey directly measures dynamic capabilities. This study makes a significant contribution to Information Technology for Development by demonstrating how targeted digitalization supports broader economic and social progress within the SME sector, which is especially important given the role of SMEs as the economic engine and source of livelihood in most developing countries.

Innovation network for the new energy vehicle industry: analysis based on national and Yangtze River Delta regional patent data

ABSTRACT With the increasing severity of energy and environmental issues, green economy and sustainable development have reached a consensus, and green technology innovation emerges as a new track for global competition and economic development. As a solution to mitigate energy and environmental crises, new energy vehicles have garnered significant attention from the government and the industry. Based on the joint patent application data in China’s new energy vehicle industry, this paper constructs the urban cooperative innovation network and studies its structural and evolutionary characteristics across the country and in the Yangtze River Delta region respectively. The findings are as follows: (1) During 2004–2021, the scale of both the national and the Yangtze River Delta regional innovation networks has been expanding, with closer inter-city ties and stronger local clustering. (2) The national innovation network maintains a single-centre structure with Beijing as the core; there remains a significant gap between Beijing and other cities. (3) The innovation network of the Yangtze River Delta cities shows a polycentric structure, and cities vary in their preference for inter-regional or intra-regional cooperation. The study provides policy implications for the central and local governments to further improve industrial innovation.

Creating a New Payment Instrument for BRICS Countries as an Alternative to Petrodollars

This research work is dedicated to the comprehensive analysis of the potential impact of the creation of a new payment instrument by the BRICS countries on international trade, the economy, and the relations between the countries of this bloc. The research aims to identify possible changes in the structure of global trade, to investigate its impact on the interaction with tax, customs, and other barriers, and to determine potential benefits for the participating countries of this initiative. The research methodology is based on a comprehensive analysis of both theoretical and practical aspects of the relationship between international trade and currency mechanisms. The methods employed in writing this research work include extensive analysis of statistical data, examples from contemporary economic practice, as well as scientific, historical, and news publications from various time periods. The results and conclusions drawn by the researchers indicate that the creation of a new payment instrument by the BRICS countries may lead to significant shifts in the structure of international trade, facilitated by a reduction in dependence on the US dollar and encouragement of the use of alternative currency mechanisms. Furthermore, it is concluded that the development and implementation of a new payment instrument could have a positive impact on streamlining trade operations by improving interaction with customs barriers, thereby enhancing the efficiency of international trade and reducing costs associated with cross-border transactions. The research findings have a broad scope of application, encompassing international trade, foreign economic relations, geopolitics, financial market policies, and strategic economic development planning. The authors’ conclusions underscore the importance of creating fundamentally new currency settlement mechanisms to establish infrastructure for ensuring sustainable and equitable global economic development, as well as to enhance the competitiveness of participating countries and their integration into global economic processes.

The Fifth Industrial Revolution (Industry 5.0) presents both challenges and opportunities for global economic development, where advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT) are transforming industries and societies. The main challenges include the lack of human capital preparedness to quickly adapt to technological advancements and the low level of environmental awareness in many industrial sectors. Economic growth that focuses excessively on natural resource exploitation exacerbates environmental degradation and climate change. Therefore, collaboration between human resources, technology, and environmental consciousness is essential to achieving sustainable and inclusive development. This study aims to identify gaps in human resource readiness, technological utilization, and environmental awareness and to propose economic development strategies for the industry 5.0 era that address these challenges. The research method employed is a literature review, analyzing various academic papers, reports, and secondary data from scientific journals, government reports, and industry-related articles. The findings show that technology serves as a primary driver of innovation, but human-technology collaboration is crucial for creating sustainable value. Additionally, the rising environmental awareness offers opportunities for industries to shift towards more eco-friendly business models, such as the circular economy and renewable energy. Collaboration between governments, the private sector, academia, and civil society is needed to realize inclusive and sustainable development in this era.

Investigating the non-linear impacts of low-carbon development in tourism on economic growth: insights from the “Belt and Road” countries

ABSTRACT Against the backdrop of conflicts between global environment and economic development, low-carbon development has received widespread attention. Pursuing low-carbon economic transformation from an industry perspective has become a hot topic. Based on this, this study selects 42 countries [Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Belarus, Chile, China, Czekh, Egypt, Estonia, Georgia, Croatia, Hungary, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Korea, Sri Lanka, Luxembourg, Morocco, Moldova, Mongolia, Mozambique, Malaysia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Serbia, Slovakia, Norway, Thailand, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Uruguay] along the “Belt and Road” as research objects, and adopts fixed effect models and threshold effect models to study the non-linear relationship between low-carbon development in the tourism industry (LCDT) and economic growth from environmental regulations (ER) and energy intensity (EI). Research has shown that: (1) LCDT, ER, and EI can foster economic growth. (2) With the increase in ER and EI, the effect of LCDT on economic growth exhibits a significant “N” shape. (3) During LCDT promotes economic growth, threshold effects of ER and EI display distinct heterogeneous characteristics. In the current global consensus on low-carbon development, this study provides valuable insights for policy makers seeking environmental protection and sustainable growth.

Employment Challenges and Employment Structure Adjustment of Low-Carbon City Pilot Policies: Evidence from Chinese Enterprises

Under the background of global climate change and sustainable development, low-carbon transformation has become an inevitable choice for China and even global economic development. As the cornerstone of social stability and the key to people’s well-being, employment is facing profound changes brought about by low-carbon development. Based on the micro perspective of enterprise behavior change, this paper takes the implementation of China’s low-carbon city pilot policy as an exogenous policy shock and constructs a time-varying difference-in-differences (DID) model to test the impact of the low-carbon city pilot policy on enterprise employment, based on the data of China’s A-share listed enterprises from 2008–2021. The results show that the implementation of low-carbon city pilot policies significantly expands the employment scale of enterprises and increases overall employment by about 6.77%. From the perspective of employment skill structure, it can promote the employment of high-skilled and low-skilled workers. From the perspective of employment position structure, it can promote the employment of production operations personnel, technology research and development personnel, and service and management personnel. These results are still valid after a series of robustness tests. The policy effect is due to the deepening of enterprise capital integration, green investment, technological innovation and vertical specialization. In addition, it is also affected by the differences of enterprise ownership, enterprise scale, industry pollution degree, regional environmental regulation, and market competition degree. Further research shows that low-carbon city pilot policies significantly reduce the share of labor income of employees in heavily polluting enterprises, resulting in the loss of employee welfare. From the perspective of employment, this paper provides more theoretical support and empirical evidence for low-carbon policies to drive changes in micro-enterprise behavior, so as to achieve the sustainable goals of “double carbon” and “stable employment”.

The Challenge and Response of Network Security in The Era of Artificial Intelligence

With the emergence of artificial intelligence, new situations, new problems, and new challenges in the field of network security are emerging one after another, affecting the global economic pattern, development pattern, and security pattern, also putting forward higher requirements for network security assurance. Nowadays, cases of using fake audio and video such as AI face-changing and AI voice-changing to commit new cybercrimes occur occasionally. From the individual level, artificial intelligence lowers the threshold for personal cybercrime. At the social level, artificial intelligence forges false information that misleads the public and poses a certain threat to people’s property. This article aims to analyse the function of artificial intelligence and discuss the impact of emerging technologies on social development. This article by comparing domestic and foreign researches on artificial intelligence, using a qualitative research methodology with case studies and literature, and expresses views and ideas regarding the laws about artificial intelligence. The article finds that maintaining network security is the common responsibility of the whole society and requires the joint participation of governments, social organisations, and the majority of netizens. Therefore, it is suggested that other security risks that may be caused by artificial intelligence in the future, should be prevented based on risk prevention, and active use laws and regulations to regulate and guide. Secondly, by referring to the law, ensuring the protection of personal information, and standardise the cyber security environment is so significant. Finally, carry out online publicity and education to improve the network security awareness.
