Ordinary matter in non-linear affine gauge theories of gravitation

We present a general framework to include ordinary fermionic matter in the metric--affine gauge theories of gravity. It is based on a non-linear gauge realization of the affine group, with the Lorentz group as the classification subgroup of the matter and gravitational fields.

Exact vacuum solutions of 4-dimensional metric-affine gauge theories of gravitation

We presenttwo exact spherically symmetric vacuum solutions of gauge theories of gravity on a spacetime with non metric-compatible connection. One of them is defined on a Weyl-Cartan spacetime and the other on a general metric-affine space. We consider Lagrangians which include terms quadratic in the irreducible parts of the curvature, the torsion, and the nonmetricity. The metric part of both solutions is of the Reissner-Nordstrom type and includes a contribution of an effectivedilatation charge. A nontrivial Weyl 1-form is also common to both solutions. It resembles a Coulomb potential originating from thedilatation charge. The torsion is closely related to the nonmetricity.

On the influence of the gravitating vacuum on the dynamics of homogeneous isotropic models in gauge theories of gravity

The analysis of solutions of gravitational equations for homogeneous isotropic models in the presence of a gravitating vacuum (cosmological constant ) is given in the frame of various gauge theories of gravity on the basis of qualitative theory of dynamic systems. The equation of state of matter is given in the form of a linear dependence of the pressure p on the energy density with restriction . It is shown that regularization of metric derivatives takes place in the case of sufficiently high values of , and some are obtained which are regular in the metrics solutions for superdense gravitating systems.

Translational gauge invariance and classical gravitodynamics

A generalization of gauge theories based on non-Abelian matrix groups to the operator group of translations is given. It leads to the concept of local translation invariance and to the existence of an operator-valued gauge field in Minkowski space. Its dynamics is uniquely determined using the RG and new heat kernel techniques developed in an appendix. The resulting theory is shown to be a gauge theory of gravitation which is physically complementary and mathematically equivalent to the general theory of relativity.

Torsion singularity in Weitzenböck space-time

In the framework of gravitational gauge theory with torsion in Weitzenbock space-time, scalar polynomial torsion singularity and scalar Riemann-Christoffel curvature singularity are studied by a static spherical symmetric vacuum solutions. Although the parameter e = 0, general relativity is recovered in a limit case and there exists torsion singularity at the Schwarzshild radius. Generally, there exists torsion and Riemann-Christoffel curvature singularity without real event horizon.

Wavelike exact solutions of R+R2+Q2 gravity

The spinorial methods are applied to the analysis of the wavelike exact solutions of the gauge theory of gravitation with dynamical torsion. The N-type plane-fronted metric-torsion-electromagnetic wave for the most general quadratic in the torsion and curvature Lagrangian with nonvanishing cosmological constant are presented. A series of non-plane-fronted exact solutions with nontrivial torsion are found also. The question about equivalence of equations of the gauge theory of gravitation and the general relativity in the vacuum torsionless case are clarified. The example of non-Einsteinian vacuum solution for exceptional choice of cosmological constant are presented.

Post-Newtonian effects in the quadratic Poincaré gauge theory of gravitation.

The post-Newtonian approximation of the Poincar\'e gauge theory (PGT) of gravitation with an arbitrary Lagrangian is calculated. The constraints on the parameters of the PGT which follow from light deflection and retardation experiments and composition-independent fifth-force data are obtained. It is shown that modern experimental data cannot rule out the existence of massive torsion particles with both large and very small masses.

COSMOLOGICAL CONSTANT AND GRAVITATIONAL REPULSION EFFECT I: HOMOGENEOUS MODELS WITH RADIATION

Within the framework of the minimum quadratic Poincare gauge theory of gravity in the Riemann-Cartan spacetime, we study the influence of gravitational vacuum energy density (a cosmological constant) on the dynamics of various gravitating systems. It is shown that the inclusion of the cosmological term can lead to gravitational repulsion. For some simple cases of spatially homogeneous cosmological models with radiation, we obtain nonsingular solutions in the form of elementary functions and elliptic integrals.

A new evaluation of PGT mass and spin

Two new expressions for the conserved quantities, total energy-momentum and angular momentum, of the Poincaré gauge theory of gravity are tested by evaluating them for certain solutions, especially the Kerr-anti-de Sitter exact solution. The values obtained are the same as those for the conserved quantities of the Kerr-anti-de Sitter solution of Einstein's general relativity.

Cosmological model in spacetime containing torsion

This paper clarifies the question of consistency in the gauge theory of gravitation. A cosmological model in the R + Q 2 theory is discussed and it is shown that the presence of torsion does not alter the results of the standard model.

Advantages of each representation are discussed. The complete algorithm for calculation of gravitational equations in the framework of the most efficient formalism of spinor-valued exterior forms is presented.

POSITIVE ENERGY TEST OF POINCARÉ GAUGE THEORY

The positive total energy test is applied to the Poincaré Gauge Theory of gravity. Both the asymptotically flat and asymptotically constant negative curvature case are considered. The test shows that in either case, the theory with generic values for the parameters is not viable.

Experimental bounds on parameters of spin-spin interaction in gauge theory of gravitation

The contribution of the pseudovector component of the torsion for the hyperfine splitting of the hydrogen atom is considered. The calculations are made in the framework of a Poincare gauge theory of gravitation with the most general Lagrangian quadratic in the curvature and torsion and containing a term of Hilbert-Einstein type. Some estimates of the model are obtained.

Irreducible decompositions of nonmetricity, torsion, curvature and Bianchi identities in metric-affine spacetimes

The irreducible components of the curvature under the Lorentz group are of direct physical relevance in the four-dimensional Riemannian geometry of general relativity. The same is true for both curvature and torsion in the four-dimensional Riemann-Cartan geometry of the Poincare gauge theory of gravitation. In the latter theory a knowledge of these irreducible components is also extremely useful when setting up the Lagrangian and searching for exact solutions. The author deals with an n-dimensional metric-affine spacetime of arbitrary signature. In such a spacetime the connection is no longer metric so that there is an additional geometric object-the nonmetricity. The irreducible decompositions of nonmetricity, torsion and curvature under the pseudo-orthogonal group as well as those of the corresponding Bianchi identities are derived. Because of the increasing use made of it in the literature, the exterior form notation is used throughout.

One-loop effective action in gauge gravitational theory

In this paper we consider the problems of quantization and renormalization of gauge gravitational theory. We evaluate the one-loop effective action in two models which are based onGA(4,R) andP10 structural groups. It is shown that there are different sets of dynamical variables in these theories. One-loop divergences of the Einstein-Hilbert-type action with cosmological constant can be eliminated by renormalization of the latter. We show that the different sets of variables inGA(4,R) theory lead to a different asymptotical behaviour of the renormalized cosmological constant.
