This article will discuss the ihya' as-sunnah movement for rice by lazismu at the darul arqom mosque, batu ringgit kel. karang pule, mataram, NTB. This study aims to see how Lazismu performs in an effort to revive the sunnah (Living Qur`an-Hadith) through the distribution of shadaqah lunches for Friday prayers in congregation at the Darul-Arqam Batu Ringgit mosque, Karang Pule sub-district. Even beyond that, Lazismu has also indirectly preached Islamic teachings in the form of hadiths of Rasulullah SAW which are very rarely known by the local community. Looking at the results of the research above, the author can describe the pattern of interaction of Living Qur'an-Hadith with traditions built by Lazismu through its program is the puritanism-based Living Qur'an-Hadith model, namely a pure understanding of the text which is lived in the form of tradition once a week. When depicted in the form of a Venn diagram, the diagram patterns are not separate from one another, nor are they intersected, but all parts of one set are part of another set.

The Tripartite Qibla Wall as a Visual Form of Embodied Belief: From Al-Andalus to Mudejar and Morisco Mosques in Exile—Memory and Identity

The maqṣūrah commissioned by Caliph al-Hakam II in the 10th-century Mosque of Córdoba epitomizes the blend of sacred grandeur and political symbolism in Islamic architecture. This structure enhances aesthetic experiences, allowing worshippers to connect with divinity during Friday prayers. A distinctive feature is its qibla wall, divided into three parts, with a central empty miḥrāb symbolizing sacred force. This spatial organization, reminiscent of Late Antique basilicas in the Iberian Peninsula and the Mediterranean, persisted in peninsular mosques even after the Christian conquest of al-Andalus. Mudejar Islamic communities replicated this design in smaller mosques, perhaps to preserve al-Andalus’s memory amidst growing repression. Following the 17th-century expulsion of the Moriscos, similar architectural elements appeared in Testour, Tunisia, built by Morisco exiles. These visual codes, shared among Hispanic Islamic communities, reflect the enduring memory of the exile.

Adaptive strategies and thermal perceptions in intermittently used congregational Spaces: A case study

In spaces with considerable volumes that are sporadically used and typically not operating at full capacity, existing thermal comfort models face limitations. This research aims to reveal disparities between these models and survey-based comfort assessments. Comfort calculations were conducted using conventional thermal comfort models based on measured parameters and compared with survey data. Notable differences prompted the formulation of a more robust correlation, accounting for 83.4 % of the variations in Predicted Mean Votes (PMV). A regression model derived from survey data shows a high coefficient of determination (R2 = 0.84), supporting its applicability for large intermittently used spaces like mosques. Addressing limitations of existing models, this research introduces a practical and simplified approach to predicting thermal comfort, enhancing assessments in these distinctive spaces. The study also examines mosque indoor air quality dynamics. Despite sporadic ventilation, CO2 levels rose from 1500 ppm to 2500 ppm during Friday prayers, posing potential health risks. Before prayers, indoor CO2 and humidity met ASHRAE Standard 62, ISO 7730, and EN15231 values. To mitigate health concerns from elevated CO2 levels, improved ventilation systems are necessary. Comfort temperatures were only achieved during prayer periods.

Effect of a multidisciplinary program with seven color balls on non-communicable diseases prevention in a Muslim community: A real-world study

Prevalence of diabetes and hypertension are increasing. Health promotion is needed for the diseases prevention. The objective of this study was to determine the impact of a multidisciplinary program and a seven-color balls on fasting blood glucose and blood pressure in a Muslim community. A one-group pre-post test of participatory action research was employed. The screening test was administered and assigned a color to each of seven health statuses. All participants made a commitment to improve their weekly performance. They were instructed and practiced for three weeks on six health information topics. Then, each village health volunteer reminded the participants of health information, and a religious leader declared (Kutbah) during Friday prayer that tobacco and alcohol are contrary to Islam. Utilizing frequency and percentage, the study outcome at the end of the program was compared to that at baseline. The results revealed that the mean age of the participants was 33.92 years, with a range of 15 to 82 years. Six months after program finish, 87.5% of those at risk and 93.3% of high risk for hypertension returned to normal blood pressure levels. For FBS level, risk for diabetes participants improved to a normal level by 57.6%, participants who were possibly for diabetes improved to better level by 50%, and third level illness decreased to a lower level by 50%. The program could improve participants’ health status and encourage their self-esteem for health prevention. Prevention of hypertension, and diabetes is essential for promoting individual and community health.

The psychosocial impacts of the 15 March terrorist attack on the Christchurch Muslim community: A descriptive, cross-sectional assessment.

On 15 March 2019, a white supremacist terrorist carried out sequential attacks on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand during Friday prayers. This resulted in the loss of 51 lives, 40 others sustained gunshot injuries, and there were approximately 250 survivors. This study aimed to evaluate the impacts on community members, assess clinical needs, facilitate access to appropriate interventions and provide insights into working with a traumatised and diverse population. This cross-sectional study used semi-structured clinical interviews and self-report measures to assess social and demographic factors, mental health disorders and well-being for adult Muslims 11-32 months post-attack. A total of 189 participants completed assessments. The sample was diverse, representing 34 different ethnicities and participant proximity to the attack was complex, with personal and familial exposures. Elevated levels of psychological distress and psychopathology were found with 38% of participants reporting moderate/severe psychological distress on the Kessler-10, 39% reporting post-traumatic stress disorder on the post-traumatic stress disorder checklist-5, and 40% reporting poor well-being or possible depression on the World Health Organization-5 Well Being Index. Secondary stressors were also documented, as well as high scores for post-traumatic growth and the importance of faith. This study provides valuable insights into the repercussions of the Christchurch mosque attack on the affected community, describing the complexity of exposure and the substantial burden of morbidity experienced. It also highlights the high levels of social connectedness and the role of faith in promoting positive outcomes in the recovery process for this population.

STUDY ON THE METHOD OF SETTING STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES (SOP) FOR MOSQUE AND SURAU ACTIVITIES DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN SELANGOR AND MELAKA

The COVID-19 pandemic, which struck the world at the end of 2019, has changed peoples lives in many aspects including how Muslims pray and worship. The Malaysian government has imposed several Movement Control Orders (MCOs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Malaysians to stop the outbreak from spreading. The prohibition of holding any activities in mosques or surau (smaller designated praying areas where Friday Prayer is not performed),which includes large gatherings of Muslims during this MCO time has sparked a range of responses from the community. Some are dissatisfied with the small limit on the number of people allowed to attend congregations and the inconsistency between different states. Therefore, this study aims to identify the SOP setting method used by two states namely Selangor and Malacca which have significant SOP differences, including in the number of people allowed to attend congregations in mosques and surau. Interviews were conducted with SS mufti of Selangor and Melaka as the main individuals involved in the issuance of fatwas to obtain data for this study. The findings from this study show that there are differences in methods in setting SOPs due to differences in the administration of the religious affairs of the two states. In addition, the difference in SOP is based on the current situation of the infection which is happening based on the level of emergency or masyaqqah that occurs at the time. It aims to prevent harm from spreading further to preserve the maqasid syariah of human life.

Application of Behaviorist Theory Based on the Learning Experienceof Students in Boarding School Environments

This study examines the importance of implementing behaviourist theory in student learning. It examines student responses and the role of the educational environment in implementing behaviourist theory at the Ar-Rifa'ie Tarakan Islamic Boarding School. The approach used in this study is qualitative, the type is descriptive and ethnographic. Data collection uses in-depth interviews and observations. The validity of the researcher's data uses source triangulation. The analysis adopts the Miles & Huberman model, which includes data collection, reduction, delivery, and conclusion. The study's results indicate that applying behaviourist learning theory uses reinforcement, motivation, incentives, and practice. Activities that utilize behaviourist learning theory include dhuha prayer, reading the Qur'an and tahfidz, Friday prayers, and muhadoroh (speaking practice). This is because the behaviourist or behavioural learning theory shows when students' behaviour changes in a positive direction, they become more motivated to learn and interact, and their memory and tolerance become stronger. The educational environment influences student behaviour and development, including climate, geographical location, habitat, and customs. This study only relies on behaviourist learning theory to explain changes in student behaviour. This may ignore other relevant educational approaches, such as cognitivism or constructivism theory, which can provide additional perspectives on developing students' learning. This study integrates behaviourist learning theory with students' religious activities, which is a unique approach because behaviourism is generally more often applied in the context of general education than religious education.

“What Do They Say in Mosques? Islamic Discourse on Limiting Ritual Expenses”

This article examines the changes in religious policy, Islamic beliefs, religious life, national values, and family rituals in Uzbekistan during the years of independence. Particularly, it analyzes a series of fatwas, guidelines, and theses on Friday prayer topics published by the Office of Muslims of Uzbekistan in recent years. The author substantiates the amalgamation of religious and national perspectives in Uzbek family rituals, encompassing childbirth, marriage, and mourning ceremonies, drawing on ethnographic materials. Furthermore, it delves into the views of Islamic scholars and imams concerning the reduction of specific expenses and extravagances in these rituals, citing examples from Friday prayers and various social networks. Through anthropological observations of modern Uzbek society, including Muslims' public activities, Friday prayers, neighborhoods, and community events, as well as through various TV talk shows and radio broadcasts, the article explores "Aqiqa" ceremonies, circumcision weddings, marriages, and mourning rituals conducted by Uzbek imams in matters of family and marriage. The author highlights the discussions of "Amru Ma'ruf" topics during ceremonies, widely debated on mosque websites, imams' pages, and social media platforms (Telegram, Facebook, Instagram). The article underscores the impact of Islamic scholars' and imams' ongoing efforts, noting changes in the balance of expenses in the ceremonial life of the Uzbek people, particularly evident in marriage ceremonies. Moreover, it analyzes changes and transformative processes in Uzbek family rituals from the perspective of ritual economy.

The Deliverance of Hadith by Khateeb in Friday Prayers from the Perspective of Hadith Science: As an Islamic Cultural Practice

Many khateeb of Friday prayer improperly quote the Prophetic hadiths; some of them, for example, just quote the matan (content) of the hadiths. Hadith comprises three elements: sanad, matan, and rawi. This study aims to analyze the use of the prophetic hadiths among when the khateeb in delivering the khutbah (sermon) during the Friday prayer. This research was conducted at a number of Jami' mosques (mosques hosting Friday noon prayers known as jumu'ah) in Yogyakarta during Friday prayer. The subject of this qualitative research is the khateeb who delivers the khutbah (sermons), which was determined by purposive sampling. The data in this study were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation and analyzed by means of analytical descriptive method. The results of this study indicated a positive and important attitude as proven in the way of khateeb, that always quoted and delivered the hadiths as an explanation of the verses of the Qur'an, though the delivery was not as expected by hadith experts and scholars in relation to their insufficient knowledge of hadith science.

Daily Prison Fiqh: A Practical Solution of Islamic Law to The Problems of Prisoners in Tembilahan, Riau

The article aimed to answer the daily fiqh problems of prisoners in Correctional Institutions (Lapas) class II Tembilahan. The fiqh problems related to Islamic law relating to individuals, relationships with God and prison society. The structured interviews with prisoners and the study of relevant documents were used to answer the research questions. This research uses a qualitative approach and literature by referring to classical and contemporary fiqh books. This research resulted in the findings of the formulation of daily fiqh of prisoners in Class II Tembilahan Correctional Institution, namely: First, related to fiqh laws that concern individual issues such as masturbation, tattoos, vital organs installed with roles to becoming prayer leader (imam), paying debts from drug money, anxious between farting or not at the time of bowing or prostration, the law of not providing maintenance for the wife for a long time, and apologizing to parents who have died. Secondly, there is the issue of fiqh rulings between the servant and Allah. In this case, one issue is the law of the zuhur prayer being performed before the Friday prayer. Third, issues related to relationships with society. In this case, there is one issue, namely maintaining tolerance for non-Muslims in prison. This research contributes to providing Islamic legal solutions to the daily problems of Muslim prisoners to continue to carry out religious obligations in correctional institutions and as a reference for policymakers in correctional institutions to continue to present legal benefits for Muslim prisoners.

Islamic Practices and Muslim Students’ Academic Performance

Islam practices are followed by Muslims as religious customs and events to observe affiliation with Islam. The purpose of these practices was meant to boost bond with Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala (SWT) and encourage spiritual development. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between Muslim students' perceptions on Islam practices and their academic performance. The study employed a descriptive-correlational research design with content analysis using a researcher-made questionnaire which was reliability and validity tested. Descriptive statistics such as Mean, Standard Deviation and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient were utilized to analyze the data collected. Respondents were selected through stratified random sampling using Slovin’s Formula. Results showed that Muslim students abide Islamic Practices like Ramadan, Salah(prayer), and Jumaat (Friday prayer). Muslim students who pray five times a day tend to have a deep sense of gratitude and humility towards Allah. They have very satisfactory grades. Students’ Islamic practices and academic performance have significant correlation. Thus, this study suggests that schools may support the Muslim students in their practices by providing a modified environment in their learning process because the more they are abiding with Islamic practices, the more they strive to become better in their academic performance.

Syaikh Ahmad Khatib Minangkabau dan Kontekstualisasi Syair Arab dalam Isbāt Al-Zain li Sulh Al-Jamā’atain

This article focuses on the authority of Shaikh Ahmad bin Abdul Lat}i>f al-Khati>b al-Jawi> al-Minkabawi> or Shaikh Ahmad Khatib Minangkabau (1860-1916) - abbreviated as Shaikh Ahmad Khatib - in the field of Arabic poetry in his work, Is}ba>t al-Zain li S}ulh al-Jama'atain bi Jawa>z Ta'addud al-Jumu'atain between pages 21-71. This work, although it discusses fiqh and his debate with Sayyid Usman Betawi over Friday prayers in Palembang at the end of the 19th century, contains many verses used in the context of making his argument. In fact, so far, he is only known as a figure in the fields of fiqh, tawhid, and tasawwuf. In this article, the side that has never been studied is from the side of his authority in Arabic poetry and then contextualizing the poetry in an argumentative debate with Sayyid Usman. Through a historical approach and Arabic literature, the results show that Syaikh Ahmad Khatib is an authoritative scholar in this field. This is because he is able to use it in the context of argumentation. However, his authority in this field is in the stage of quoting Arabic poetry from the compiler; not yet in the stage of creating. This article recommends that further research be conducted on Shaykh Ahmad Khatib's authority in this field in terms of his ability to create poetry in accordance with the rules and knowledge of Arabic literature.

Understanding the Hadith of <i>al-Laghwu </i>during Friday Prayers: A Ma’ani al-Hadith Study

This article aims to find out the meaning of the al-Laghwu hadith during Friday prayers. This is motivated by the fact that in current conditions many Friday prayer congregations carry out activities during the sermon which could be said to fall into the al-Laghwu category. By using descriptive-analytical qualitative methods and a ma'ani al-hadith science approach, this article concludes that the meaning of al-Laghwu in the Prophet's hadith is a futile act that can reduce the reward and perfection or primacy of Friday prayers. The meaning of al-Laghwu is not only limited to the text of the hadith, namely speaking or admonishing others to be silent when the preacher is delivering his sermon. In the current context, the meaning of al-Laghwu can also be interpreted as sleeping during the sermon, playing on mobile phones such as WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, games and similar activities, and distributing charity boxes. These actions cause the congregation to lose focus in listening to the sermon delivered by the preacher and also disturb other congregation members. Even though it is included in the al-Laghwu category and reduces the reward and perfection of Friday prayers, the Friday prayers performed are still considered valid.

The translator and the scapegoat: On mimetic desire and intercultural mediation

In the summer of 1993, several poets and musicians, many of Alevi descent, were staying at the Madımak hotel in Sivas (Turkey) for a festival. One of the hotel guests was Aziz Nesin, a Turkish author who had controversially announced a translation of Salman Rushdie’s The Satanic Verses, a book widely condemned for its alleged blasphemy. On July 2, a large crowd marched on the hotel after Friday prayers and set it on fire. Thirty-seven people were killed, and many others wounded. This article discusses the case of Nesin and his connection to what is known as the Sivas massacre. Our study of this event seeks to examine the multilayered relationship between acts of intercultural mediation and outbursts of collective violence. We argue that this relationship can be clarified by drawing on the work of René Girard, whose writings on scapegoating and sacrificial violence survey the multifaceted interaction between human aggression and imitation. We introduce Girard’s work and consider the assumptions behind it in the light of previous work on translation, narrative and conflict. Against this theoretical background, our discussion of the Sivas massacre in relation to the Satanic Verses seeks to contribute to a better understanding of the role of agents of translation as potential catalysts as well as victims of collective violence.A synopsis of this article can be found here.

Analisis Penerapan Etika Bisnis Islam dalam Transaksi Jual Beli Ikan Basah di Pasar Simpang Tiga Kecamatan Luhak Nan Duo Kabupaten Pasaman Barat

This research aims to find out how the application of Islamic business ethics in buying and selling transactions by wet fish traders in the Simpang Tiga market. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. This type of descriptive qualitative research is research where the aim is to provide descriptions of a fact, and properties related to the phenomenon being studied. This qualitative research has the aim of producing data in the form of oral words and how behavior is being observed. This research was conducted through direct observation and interviews with market managers as well as fish traders and fish buyers in the Simpang Tiga market, Luhak Nan Duo District, West Pasaman Regency. The results of this study are the implementation of buying and selling wet fish in the Simpang Tiga market carried out by traders on Friday at 07.00 to 18.00. At the time of the implementation of the transaction of buying and selling wet fish, there are still many traders who leave Friday prayers in order to continue trading and cheating by reducing the scales where the average reduction in scales is 0.10-0.15kg. The review of Islamic business ethics in the implementation of buying and selling wet fish in the Simpang Tiga market is not in accordance with the principles of Islamic business ethics, such as the principle of oneness (tawhid), the principle of justice, the principle of honesty, the principle of responsibility and the principle of freedom. The fraud committed by traders aims to get more profit.

Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe Make A Match Dalam Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Siswa Pada Mata Pelajaran Fiqih BAB Shalat Jum’at

This research aims to determine the influence of the Make a Match type cooperative learning model in improving student learning outcomes in the fiqh subject of the Friday prayer chapter in class 7. This is important to research considering how far the influence of the Make a Match type cooperative learning model is in improving learning outcomes. student. In this research, the Pearson product moment correlation method was used with a population of 145 people and a sample of 62 students in class 7. The theoretical analysis used for the variables of the Make a Match type cooperative learning model (Vioreza et al., 2020) and learning outcomes theory. Based on the research results, it shows that first, the Make a Match type cooperative learning model is rated as good with a mean value of 80.21. Both learning outcomes were assessed as good with a score of 16.42. Third, there is no influence of the Make a Match type cooperative learning model on student learning outcomes in the fiqh subject on Friday prayers in class 7. Because the calculated t value is 1.659 with a significance value of 0.102>0.005. So Ho is accepted and Ha is rejected, which means there is no relationship between the make a match type cooperative learning model and student learning outcomes.

Predictors of quitting smoking behavior: evidence from Pakistan.

This study attempts to identify factors that significantly encourage the cessation of smoking in the context of Pakistan. The study distributes a modified questionnaire among 421 respondents (current as well as former smokers) in the capital city of Pakistan, Islamabad. The binary regression method was employed to data for analyzing predictors of making quit attempts and successful smoking cessation. The result indicates that respondents having strong intentions to quit, high socioeconomic status, low nicotine dependency, and past quit attempts, and those having no-smoking friends, are more likely to quit cigarette smoking successfully. On the other hand, factors like social pressure to quit smoking, religious information against smoking, intention to quit smoking, and public regulation on smoking are more likely to encourage smokers to make quit attempts. The study calls for community and school-wide smoking cessation campaigns involving officials, peers and parents, religious leaders, and other influential individuals to inform people about the dangers of smoking. In addition, religious leaders should be encouraged to issue rulings against smoking especially during "Friday Prayer." Furthermore, the government should pronounce more strict and comprehensive regulations on smoking by properly monitoring its implementation to encourage cessation of cigarette smoking.

Pengelolaan Masjid Dalam Meningkatkan Aktivitas Keagamaan Di Masjid Nurul Iman Desa Sei Sentosa Labuhanbatu

This research found that the management of the Masjid Nurul Iman in Desa Sei Sentosa, Labuhanbatu District, has more active religious activities compared to its previous state. This study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach aimed at objectively describing the actual situation in the field. The research used primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained from three individuals from Masjid Nurul Iman's management, namely the chairman, secretary, and treasurer. Meanwhile, secondary data were obtained from two religious figures, two local government officials, and three mosque congregants. Data collection instruments included structured interviews, non-participatory observation, and some field documentation. The results showed that the management of Masjid Nurul Iman is focused on enhancing religious activities, including the five daily prayers, Friday prayers, distribution of zakat fithrah, tarawih prayers, the slaughtering and distribution of qurban meat, solar and lunar eclipse prayers, tabliqh akbar, religious lectures, funeral prayers, the return of Hajj pilgrims, MTQ events, and torchlight processions. This indicates that the mosque's management has been effective in the areas of Idarah, imarah, and ri’ayah.

The Strategy of TPA Educational (Al-Qur'an Educational Park) to Overcoming Noisy Attitudes Childrens in During Jum’at Prayer: a Phenomenon at Mesjit of Yogyakarta

This research aims to explore the educational strategy of the Al-Qur'an Education Park (TPA) in dealing with children's noise during Friday prayers at the Nur Sidik Mosque, Yogyakarta. Using a descriptive qualitative case study approach, data was collected through observations and interviews with TPA teachers as well as parents and TPA children. The research results highlight concrete strategies, which include interactive learning methods, special activities before Friday prayers, and the application of rewards and punishments that are in accordance with Islamic values. Close collaboration between TPA teachers, parents, and the community is key to creating a conducive environment for the implementation of worship, ensuring meaningful and solemn worship for children, especially in carrying out Friday prayers, and forming a golden generation with Islamic character and noble morals in social life.
