Processes of humus loss in leached chernozem soils of the North Kazakhstan region

This article discusses the processes of dehumification and loss of humus in leached chernozem soils of agricultural lands of the North Kazakhstan region due to mineralization and as a result of erosion processes. Modern rates of soil dehumification lead to a decrease in the fertility of agricultural land and a decrease in yields, soil fertility is a valuable resource. The intensive process of decomposition of organic matter and its dehumidification occurs as a result of plowing virgin soil and as a result of its improper use in agricultural conditions. In the North Kazakhstan region, after the development of virgin lands, trends of intensive soil dehumidification are widespread. It was found that the object of study, leached chernozem, loses 0.69 t/ha by mineralization of humus and 0.011 t/ha as a result of erosion processes. Due to the long-term agricultural use of the land, improper construction of soil protection works, lack of organic substances that complement the humus composition of the soil, the balance of humus is disturbed, and organic substances connect soil structures with each other, increasing resistance to environmental factors. The destruction of soil structures of the plowed soil layer, the predominance of dust structures, thinning of the humus layer and the intensity of erosion processes were revealed.

Utilizing Cow Manure Waste (Bos Taurus) as Organic Fertilizer in Labuan Lelea Village, Labuan District, Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi

This community service activity has been conducted in Labuan Lelea Village, Labuan District, Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi Province, in collaboration with the local farming community. They face challenges regarding how to utilize cattle manure waste as environmentally friendly organic fertilizer. The objective of this community service is: 1) To provide knowledge to the farming community in Labuan Lelea Village on how to utilize cattle manure waste as organic fertilizer, as a substitute for inorganic fertilizers, which are known for their chemical content, scarcity, and fluctuating prices annually; 2) To promote organic fertilizers as an environmentally friendly alternative to inorganic fertilizers in agricultural lands; 3) To enhance the knowledge of farming communities regarding the effective utilization of cattle manure waste as organic fertilizer for both food crops and horticultural plants. The method employed in this activity is a participatory approach, wherein a team including Community and Student Service Learning Program (KKN) participants and local community members actively collaborate in fostering good cooperation between extension workers and farmers. The primary target audience of this training is farming communities engaged in plantation, food crops, and horticultural cultivation. The outcomes of this community service activity include increased awareness of how to utilize cattle manure waste (Bos Taurus). This process requires minimal investment as cattle waste, sawdust, and rice husks are all freely available materials, thus serving as a substitute for inorganic fertilizers which contain chemical substances and are environmentally unfriendly.

Cooperation of small and medium in agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan

The process of uniting small and medium-sized businesses in the agro-industrial complex into agricultural cooperatives is very relevant for the Republic of Kazakhstan, given the small-scale nature of agricultural production and the high share of households in the total volume of agricultural production. gross agricultural output and, accordingly, low labor productivity in agriculture. The purpose of the study is to study the development of agricultural cooperation in Kazakhstan and identify problems hindering the development of the cooperative movement, and suggest directions for further development in the field of cooperation in the country. To study processes and phenomena in the field of organizational and economic relations, various methods were used, such as analysis and synthesis, the use of systematic and logical approaches to the study of trends in the development of agricultural cooperation. The essence of the efficiency of cooperative formations functioning is formulated. The world and domestic experience of agricultural cooperation development has been studied, which allowed to identify the main prerequisites for the development of small and medium-sized business in the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The article presents existing problems that impede their development, and in conclusion, the authors offer recommendations on measures of state regulation and support for the development of agricultural cooperation in the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is necessary, first of all, to direct efforts to the development of production cooperation of small and medium-sized farms, which have the opportunity to organize joint production of agricultural products, use of land resources, agricultural machinery, and introduce advanced growing technologies. agricultural products in order to preserve the fertility of agricultural land and use a unified scientifically based crop rotation system. All this will ultimately increase the volume of agricultural production, animal productivity, increase crop yields and labor productivity.

Sustainable development of agriculture as a factor of ensuring food security of the country

The article examines the issues of ensuring the sustainable development of the agricultural sphere by increasing the fertility of agricultural lands and returning them in agricultural sphere, as well as the application of innovations as the foundation of food security. The author evaluates the results of the implementation of state support programs and proposes the measures to improve the economic regulation in the agricultural sector.

Collective action problems led to the cultural transformation of Sāmoa 800 years ago.

In this research we identify the processes leading to hierarchical society in a region of Sāmoa, the often-labelled 'birthplace' of the Polynesian chiefdoms. Our analyses in the Falefa Valley on 'Upolu island combine lidar mapping and ground survey to reveal an extensive system of archaeological features: rock walls, ditches, and platforms. Excavation and radiocarbon dating underpin a feature chronology and characterize feature variation. Soil nutrient analyses and geoarchaeological coring indicate spatial differences in the agricultural potentional of the valley and human modification of the environment over time. Our results demonstrate that the construction of large rock walls, some several hundred meters long, began approximately 900-600 years ago, shortly after rapid population rise in Sāmoa. This was followed by the building of small rock walls, often enclosing rectilinear fields or platforms. Both rock wall types are concentrated in the western and northern regions of the valley and greater rock wall densities are associated with areas of higher agricultural potential. The earliest wall construction was penecontemporaneous with partial forest removal that created a more productive wetland environment in the southeastern region of the valley, an area later a focus of agricultural ditching. We propose that with population rise the variable fertility of agricultural land became a significant resource gradient, influencing the population in two ways. First, areas of more fertile agricultural land promoted territorial behaviour, including large rock walls, and led to a collective action problem. Second, niche construction in the form of human-induced environmental change created a productive wetland agricultural system that was enhanced with a reticulate ditch network, the maintenance of which also led to a collective action problem. We conclude that in the Falefa Valley, the second largest catchment in Sāmoa, collective action problems were the cause of increased social hierarchy and may underlie the origins of chiefdoms throughout Polynesia.

The article deals with modern problems of marketing support or support for export activities of agricultural enterprises in the context of the globalization of the world economy in the context of the entry of agricultural formations into world food markets and the formation of production and trade relations with new partners. The categorical content of the concepts "marketing support", "marketing support", "export potential", "agrarian enterprise", and "globalization of business" was considered. The views of domestic scientists regarding the use of the specified terms in scientific works of various specialties are analyzed and summarized. The possibility of increasing the export potential of agrarian societies due to the modernization of certain technological components of production and trade activities and the production of high-quality plant raw materials or safe food products was investigated. The described approach coincides with the international practice of selling agricultural products on world food markets in accordance with the developed and agreed quality standards of plant raw materials and food products. Thus, the issue of solving modern logistics problems is seen as a key component in marketing support for the export potential of business in the sector of agricultural production. According to the text of the intelligence, it is determined that the significant natural and land resources of Ukraine create conditions for the development of organically sustainable agriculture with a rational regime for the use of agricultural land with the introduction of a complete system of standardized restrictions or obligations. It is explained that a peculiar feature of the export activity of agricultural enterprises is their direct dependence on the state of fertility of agricultural lands, as a natural resource, a spatial basis, an object of application of human labor and the main means of production. The urgent importance of the protection and restoration of agricultural land on the way to the transition to ecologically safe and resource-saving agriculture has been clarified.

Relationship between annual soil erosion and surface runoff in Wadi Hanifa sub-basins

Abstract Soil erosion is the major environmental risk that causes topsoil loss, which decreases fertility in agricultural land. Spatial estimation of soil erosion is essential for conserving land resources and for developing control plans. This study evaluated soil erosion in 17 sub-basins of the Wadi Hanifa catchment using the Gavrilović model. The soil erosion rate is categorized into three classes based on the annual volume of rainfall and runoff. About 21% of the drainage area of Wadi Hanifa is affected by erosion severity, and 33% of the area is affected by severe erosion. The correlation obtained between the annual soil erosion and annual volumes of rainfall and runoff is significant. It is concluded from the results that the drainage area of the north-western part suffers from a high soil erosion risk. The NRCS-CN and erosion predict that the Gavrilović model can be applied for estimating and analyzing the spatial distribution of soil erosion over more drainage watersheds in Saudi Arabia. Now, the GIS techniques are one of the best tools for developing the conservation and management planning processes of soil resources.

For the first time, for the conditions of southern Iraq, a modified method for geoinformation assessment of the state of agricultural landscapes in southeastern Iraq was developed, characterized by a combined analysis of the relief, forest plantations, field structure and soil contours. Based on the photogrammetric analysis of satellite images in the GIS environment, actual thematic cartographic layers of agricultural landscapes in the southern part were developed between the Tigris and Euphrates. The theoretical significance of the work is determined by obtaining new data on the state of agricultural land, on the features of the geomorphological characteristics of the territory, and determining the possibility of their agroforestry for protection from natural impacts during economic use, as well as by modifying the method of geoinformation assessment of the state of agricultural landscapes in southeastern Iraq. It has been established that there is practically no agroforestry development in the study area of the Maysan province, which has an area of 1607.2 thousand hectares. The results of the research can become the basis for the application of forest reclamation in order to protect agricultural land from degradation in southern Iraq. This will help restore the soil fertility of agricultural land, which will reduce losses from the impact of natural and anthropogenic negative factors.

Comparative assessment of soil fertility across varying elevations.

Land elevation exerts a significant influence on soil fertility through affecting macro and micro climatic conditions and geomorphological processes. To evaluate the soil fertility at different elevation classes, namely 1600-2000, 2000-2400, 2400-2800, and > 2800m, 350 surface soil samples (0-30cm) were collected from the agricultural lands of northwestern Iran. Soil properties, including soil texture, calcium carbonate (CaCO3), pH, electrical conductivity (EC), organic matter (OM), and soil macronutrients (TN, P, and K) and micronutrients (Fe, Mn, Zn, and Cu), were measured. Finally, the interpretation and classification of the soil samples were made using the nutritional value index (NIV). The comparison of the NIV index based on elevation changes showed that the Gomez method classifies the soil properties in an optimal order as evidenced by its tendency towards the center of the data. However, the Common method is more consistent with the observed trend. After classifying the NIV index using the Common method, it was determined that CaCO3 and soil salinity are not the limiting factor for soil fertility in different elevation classes. However, in all elevations, high pH, low OM at elevations > 2800m, total nitrogen (TN), available phosphorous (AP), and micronutrients deficiencies, except Zn at the elevation of 1600-2000m, are the main limiting factors for soil fertility of agricultural lands. The results provide further insight into the elevation-based land evaluation and may supports grower's decision on nutrient management and crop selection strategies.

UNLOCKING THE POTENTIAL OF AGRICULTURE WASTE AS A SOIL AMENDMENT ON GROWTH PERFORMANCE OF SWEET CORN (Zea Mays.)

The decline in soil fertility of agricultural land and the abundance of agricultural wastes is a major problem in the environment. To overcome these problems, agricultural wastes have the potential to serve as a beneficial product that provides sustainable agriculture. The use of agricultural wastes as soil amendments is a sustainable practice in improving soil quality and plant productivity. Therefore, this study was carried out to evaluate the potential of agricultural wastes and agriculture wastes-derived biochars as soil amendments toward sweet corn (Zea Mays.) growth performance. The study was conducted in the greenhouse for 75 days. A randomized complete block design with four treatments (oil palm empty fruit bunch (EFB), EFB biochar, decanter cake, corn cob and corn cob biochar) in combination with mineral soil and four replication was used during the study. Plant height, stem diameter, and number of leaves were assessed for each treatment. Results indicate that corn cob biochar significantly increased the sweet corn height and plant diameter by respectively 11.0% and 25.0% as compared to the control. An increase in the stem diameter by 10.0% due to the application of EFB was observed at 45 days compared to the other treatments. In conclusion, the agricultural waste which is corn cob biochar were observed to have the potential in enhancing the sweet corn (Zea Mays.) growth.

Chemically Synthesized AgNPs and Piriformospora indica Synergistically Augment Nutritional Quality in Black Rice

The use of biofertilizers has been the spotlight of research aiming to mitigate the food security threat as well as to restore the fertility of agricultural lands, for decades. Several studies are being conducted to unravel the role and mechanisms of plant growth-promoting microbes. In the present research, we evaluated the effect of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and Piriformospora indica on the growth and nutritional enhancement of black rice (Oryzae sativa. L.) individually and in combination. Among the different treatment conditions, the AgNPs + P. indica treatment led to a significant (p ≤ 0.05) increase in morphological and agronomic parameters. In comparison to the control, the percentage increase in plant height in AgNPs-treated black rice was 2.47%, while that for the treatment with only P. indica was 13.2% and that for the treatment with both AgNPs + P. indica was 30.9%. For the number of productive tillers, the effect of AgNPs in comparison to the control was non-significant; however, the effect of P. indica and AgNPs + P. indica showed a significant (p ≤ 0.05) increase of 13.2% and 30.9% in both the treatments, respectively. Gas chromatography mass spectrophotometry analysis of grains revealed that the contents of phenylalanine, tryptophan, and histidine (aromatic amino acids) were significantly (p ≤ 0.05) increased by 75%, 11.1%, and 50%, respectively, in P. indica-treated black rice. Nutrient profiling showed that macronutrients such as potassium, calcium, magnesium were found to be increased by 72.8%, 86.4% and 59.2%, respectively, in the treatment with AgNPs + P. indica in comparison to the control plants. Additionally, a significant (p ≤ 0.05) increase of 51.9% in anthocyanin content was observed in AgNPs + P. indica-treated black rice. The P. indica treatment also showed improved growth and augmented nutrient contents. From this study, we were able to understand that AgNPs + P. indica treatment would be a better plant growth-promoting factor and further evaluation would enable us to obtain a clear picture of its mechanisms of action.

The unpredictability of land-use change threatens the resilience, independence and food sovereignty of farmers and communities. Therefore, government policy to protect sustainable farmland will continue to explore whether legal protections are needed for existing farmland as well as farmers to become permanent farmland. The purpose of this activity is to make farmers understand that they have the right to live a decent and prosperous life through the availability of the land itself, and the method is the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the reporting stage. consists of During the implementation phase, non-profit activities such as demonstrations of socialization techniques, tree planting, and production of organic pesticide fertilizers were carried out. Socialization occurs through the engagement of performance goal partners and actively and interactively between resource personnel and participants. The official stressed that the availability of agricultural land is a fulfillment of rights that communities and the state must acquire, in which case local governments have an obligation to make efforts. The demonstration introduced the technology of producing organic pesticide fertilizers to increase the fertility of agricultural land in community service areas. This inaugural event went according to plan.

Analysis of the structure and fertility of agricultural land in western Ukraine and its monetary assessment

An important sector of the Ukrainian economy is agriculture, which is based on the fertility of agricultural land, in particular, the land of the western region of Ukraine. Analysis of the structure, fertility of agricultural land, and its monetary valuation can provide insight into its productivity and potential for agricultural development. The purpose of the study is to analyse the structure and fertility indicators of agricultural land in the west of Ukraine, demonstrate their main characteristics, and compare land prices in the western regions of Ukraine. In the study, the materials of the land directory of Ukraine and regional reports on the state of the environment of the west of Ukraine were used, involving analysis and comparison of the state of land resources by the content of humus, mobile compounds of phosphorus and potassium, easily hydrolysed nitrogen, their material and monetary assessment. After analysing the structure of the land fund of the west of Ukraine (13125.5 thousand hectares), it was identified that agricultural land accounts for more than half of the total area (56.1%), and forests and other wooded zones – about a third of the total area (32.8%). Built-up land, open wetlands, open land without vegetation cover or with little vegetation cover, and other land account for less than 10%. Among agricultural land, the largest share is arable land, a little less is hayfields and pastures, and the least is perennial plantations and fallows. The total value of agricultural land in the western administrative regions is markedly different. The highest land value is in Khmelnytskyi and Ternopil regions (1.71 and 1.09 billion USD), and the smallest – in Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia (489.90 and 317.21 million USD). 1420223 shares were leased on the territory of western Ukraine. The largest number of them was leased in Khmelnitsky and Ternopil regions (25.2 and 20.7%), and the smallest – in Zakarpattia (1.0%). Thus, the total area of land cultivated by farmers is 330.8 thousand hectares, the largest in the Ternopil and Khmelnytskyi regions (23.3 and 22.7%). The findings of the study will contribute to the adoption of managerial decisions on conducting efficient agriculture and the preservation of soil fertility of agricultural lands in the region under study. Monetary assessment of these territories is useful for the country’s population in the context of changes in the law on the land market in Ukraine, and in the implementation of an environmentally balanced agricultural policy

Evaluation of Phytotoxicity of Common Chernozem in the Application of <i>Bacillus</i> sp. and Biochar for Stimulation of Decomposition of Winter Wheat Harvest Residues (<i>Triticum aestivum</i> L.)

Stable functioning of agricultural lands is impossible without maintaining soil fertility. However, there are often a lot of crop residues in the fields, which decompose for a long time and turn into available organic matter. To increase the rate of decomposition of crop residues of grain crops (wheat, barley and others), it is necessary to introduce biostimulants. Biostimulants are a variety of substances that stimulate the decomposition of organic substances and have a beneficial effect on the soil microbiota. The article examines the influence of Bacillus sp. on the processes of decomposition of crop residues of wheat both independently and together with biochar. The aim of the study was to evaluate the phytotoxicity of ordinary chernozem during the decomposition of crop residues of winter wheat under the influence of Bacillus sp. and biochar. To assess the ecological state of the soil, the following research methods were used: assessment of the rate of decomposition of cellulose (determination of cellulolytic activity), assessment of the ecological state of the soil (intensity of CO2 emissions, changes in the intensity of initial growth and development of winter barley (Hordeum vulgare L.)). Introduction of Bacillus sp. × 100 and the joint use of biochar and Bacillus sp. it stimulated the decomposition of cellulose up to 14–15% of the background content. Inoculation of Bacillus sp. on the biochar, it was effective already at the recommended dose both for the decomposition of the cellulose web and for restoring the ecological state of the soil, demonstrating a synergistic effect. The results obtained should be used in carrying out measures to increase soil fertility of agricultural lands and environmental monitoring of soil conditions.

Implementasi Pupuk Cair Organik Masaro Terhadap Produktivitas Jagung Manis di Sabah Balau

This community service activity aims to increase corn production in Sabah Balau using POCI (Special Liquid Organic Fertilizer) products from Masaro. POCI is used as an organic fertilizer and its farming produces a higher production number, higher quality product, faster production rate while its production cost is lower. On the other hand, the problem of Indonesia is that national agriculture is stuck in inorganic chemical fertilization that has an impact on accelerating the degradation of agricultural land fertility. This matter can occur due to various problems, especially the culture of using chemical fertilizers that have been going on for too long. The activities carried out include socializing about recycling organic waste with POCI Masaro, conducting outreach activities about the benefits of POCI Masaro and practicing composting for corns. The results showed the enthusiasm of the community in participating to make POCI Masaro and demonstration plots. The output of this activity: Increased corn production, increased of knowledge and skills of community in making and applying POCI Masaro on plant and motivation of farmers to independently develop alternative organic fertilizers that are in accordance with farmers' needs.

Assessment of Groundwater Quality in and around the Solid Waste Dump Site using Multivariate Plot Analysis

<p>Groundwater sources play an important role in meeting the day today needs of the present generation. Frequent monitoring of the ground water source plays an important part. The aim of this study is to analyze the quality of the ground water in and around the solid waste dumpsite near Sathyamangalam town in Erode district and to identify the variation in concentration with respect to time. Groundwater samples were collected from twenty-one locations and analyzed for pH, Electrical conductivity, Total Alkalinity, Total Hardness, Total Dissolved solids, Calcium, Magnesium, Chlorides, Sodium, Potassium, Nitrates and Sulphates. The collected groundwater samples were analysed using “Weighted Arithmetic Index” and the water quality was indicated using WQI - a number used to identify the water quality easily by the general public. From the results obtained, it is inferred that Water Quality Index changes with respect to pre-monsoon and post monsoon seasons and different time periods for the same location. The changes in water quality are not fully influenced by the open dump site and it may be due to weathering of rocks, use of fertilizers in agricultural lands. Majority of the samples are of poor quality with respect to drinking water quality index. Gibb’s plot, Wilcox diagram and United States Salinity Laboratory diagram are used to assess the suitability of groundwater samples for irrigation purpose. Most of the samples are good for agricultural use. Hence frequent and continuous monitoring of the groundwater quality is necessary to identify its suitability for drinking and agricultural purpose.</p>

Biological reclamation of disturbed agricultural lands in the Volgograd Trans-Volga region

Earthworks, such as mining, construction, laying pipes for various purposes and other activities, result in the loss of ecological systems, particularly soil cover integrity. Land reclamation allows for the establishment of a fertile soil layer, soil structure, and the accumulation of humus and other nutrients up to the level of fertility that existed before the violation. The article presents a comparative analysis of the main indicators of soil fertility of agricultural lands (pasture, hayfield, arable land) in its natural state and in the disturbed one caused by the overhaul of the main gas pipeline. The purpose of the research conducted in 2020 was in the dry-steppe zone of chestnut soils of the Volgograd region to analyze the indicators of fertility of agricultural lands that are in their natural state and subject to reclamation with an estimation of restoration costs. To characterize the level of soil fertility, the main indicators of fertility have been considered: particle size distribution, content of organic matter (humus), nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), sulfur (S) and pH, which reliably characterized soil fertility in the given soil-climatic conditions of the dry steppe zone of the Volgograd region. As a result of the estimation, it was found that the cost of restoring 1 ha of arable land made 2607.13 euro, and the cost of restoring 1 ha of pasture (haymaking) reached 2096.62 euro.

Assessing Opportunities and Difficulties in Hydroponic Farming

Background: Hydroponics or water-culture-based agricultural systems are devoted to a reasonable prospect for future farming agriculture production. Especially in that region where the fertility of agricultural land is continuously going to there is a decline in groundwater level for irrigation. Hydroponics-based agriculture system realizes an admiring action towards an eco-friendly system and innovative technique to overcome challenges concerning food safety. Hydroponics is an advanced agriculture technique in which the plants grow without soil and without any pesticide use. It is used to grow plants, vegetables and shrubs on vertical as well as horizontal basis in the series and parallel. It could be applied via glass pots, clay pots, PVC pipes and useless plastic buckets and bottles. Methods: In the present study vegetables, flowering plants and shrubs were grown successfully by the use of mainly three techniques of hydroponics namely Kratky, Wick and DFT methods. This study was continued for two and half years (4th July 2020 to 21st March 2021 and December 2019 to April 2020) with controlled pH and TDS of the nutrient solution and conducted at different Indian climatic, weather and seasonal conditions at Markanda National College,Shahabad Markanda and at the researcher’s home. Several vegetables and plants were grown from Kratky, Wick and DFT hydroponics methods under continuous monitoring of pH and TDS of nutrient solutions. Result: During the conduction of this study of the growth of mustard, ladyfinger, spinach, marigold, daisy basil (Tulsi), cucumber, cauliflower, broccoli, tomatoes, peas, peppermint, coriander leaves plants in different sessions; some challenges and opportunities were discussed. The main objective of this research study is to spread awareness about novel types of advanced future agricultural techniques or farming among the farmers and masses, who have an interest in agriculture but cannot fulfill their ambitions towards agriculture farming due to scarcity of agricultural land. The results obtained from the growth of vegetable and plant through hydroponics methods province us to follow an idea to use of such agricultural techniques. We have grown several below said crops/vegetables two or three times and face several problems. It is an opportunity to overcome the world’s food scarcity at a large scale, if adopted by a large population all over the world.

An Improved Farmland Fertility Algorithm with Hyper-Heuristic Approach for Solving Travelling Salesman Problem

Travelling Salesman Problem (TSP) is a discrete hybrid optimization problem considered NP-hard. TSP aims to discover the shortest Hamilton route that visits each city precisely once and then returns to the starting point, making it the shortest route feasible. This paper employed a Farmland Fertility Algorithm (FFA) inspired by agricultural land fertility and a hyper-heuristic technique based on the Modified Choice Function (MCF). The neighborhood search operator can use this strategy to automatically select the best heuristic method for making the best decision. Lin-Kernighan (LK) local search has been incorporated to increase the efficiency and performance of this suggested approach. 71 TSPLIB datasets have been compared with different algorithms to prove the proposed algorithm’s performance and efficiency. Simulation results indicated that the proposed algorithm outperforms comparable methods of average mean computation time, average percentage deviation (PDav), and tour length.
