Análise SWOT de uma experiência de estágio em Medicina Geral e Familiar na ilha de São Vicente em Cabo Verde

A 3-week internship at a health center in Cape Verde allowed a reflective analysis of the situation of Primary Health Care in the country. This experience is presented using the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) analysis and an integrative literature review. The authors identified strengths (organization of appointments, accessibility to Nutrition and Psychology care, training of family doctors), weaknesses (child health surveillance, maternal health and family planning mostly carried out without the support of medical staff; lack of computerization; underuse of physical and human resources; shortage of materials; unavailability of certain medicines; the need to evacuate complex cases), opportunities (young population, openness to educational actions, growing interest of foreign doctors in doing internships in the country) and threats (geography, non-free family planning, socioeconomic conditions, cultural particularities). The authors hope that this study will contribute to a constructive approach that will help improve healthcare in Cape Verde.

Impact of rurality on health care utilization among Australian residents from 2009 to 2021.

In Australia, there is limited research regarding the effect of rurality on health care utilization using longitudinal data. We analyzed data from four annual waves (2009, 2013, 2017, and 2021) of the longitudinal Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) Survey to examine changes in the health care utilization over time among urban and rural residents. Poisson regression models estimated adjusted incidence rate ratios (aIRR) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for rural versus urban residents, accounting for a range of health-related and sociodemographic characteristics. Health care utilization was measured using four key indicators: visits to family doctor or another general practitioner(GP visits from hereon), hospital admissions, total nights' stay in the hospital, and prescribed medications taken on a regular basis. The aIRR for GP visits among rural versus urban Australian residents increased over time, from 0.89 (95% CI: 0.82 to 0.97) in 2009 to 0.96 (95% CI: 0.89 to 1.04) in 2021 although not consistently increased in a statistically significant manner. While there were no consistent temporal patterns, our analysis found that rural residents experienced higher number of hospital admissions (aIRR, 1.12 to 1.15) and number of nights in the hospital in the last 12 months (aIRR, 1.18 to 1.25) compared to urban residents. Moreover, rurality had little to no effect on the number of prescribed medications taken on a regualar basisin the 12 months preceding the HILDA Surveys in 2013, 2017, and 2021. This study found that GP visits were less frequent among rural residents compared to metropolitan residents in 2009, indicating health care access disparities between rural and urban areas in Australia. However, the differences in GP visits between rural and urban areas were less pronounced from 2013 to 2021.

Orthopedic Injections: A Longitudinal Musculoskeletal Curriculum in a Family Medicine Residency.

Musculoskeletal (MSK) complaints comprise more than 20% of all visits to health care providers each year. Despite required experiences in MSK care, family physicians report low confidence in diagnosing and treating MSK conditions. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of early and longitudinal exposure to MSK education on residents' confidence in and likelihood of performing MSK physical exams and injections in future practice. From 2017 to 2019, residents completed an annual survey assessing confidence in, frequency of, and future intentions to perform exams and injections for MSK conditions. We compared responses between family medicine residents who completed a 176-hour longitudinal sports medicine (LSM) curriculum distributed over all 3 years of residency and a comparable cohort of family medicine residents who completed a 188-hour concentrated MSK curriculum primarily in the final year of residency. We made comparisons using the Fisher exact test for categorical variables and an independent samples t test for numeric variables. We analyzed the 98 total responses from 50 residents. The proportion of residents reporting high ratings of their residency MSK education (26% to 60%), performing >5 injections (38% to 73%), reporting confidence in performing injections (12% to 40%), and indicating likelihood to perform MSK injections in the future (52% to 65%) were all greater in the LSM versus concentrated MSK curriculum cohorts (P<.05 for all). Early and longitudinal exposure to MSK care and sports medicine in family medicine residency led to both an increase in MSK injections during residency training and a greater desire to perform these injections in postresidency practice.

Family medicine research in Kazakhstan: challenges, needs and support

Family medicine (FM), a relatively new speciality, has actively addressed the issue of research, despite the fact that, until recently, the majority of family doctors defined themselves in terms antithetical to research. Initial attempts in developing countries have typically concentrated on clinical care and teaching, with engagement in research being less common. The aim of the study is to investigate family the FM specialists’ perspectives on research engagement in Kazakhstan employing a mixed-methods research design with the collection of both quantitative and qualitative data. We surveyed 83 FM specialists to better understand the needs and barriers faced by this community in conducting research. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to obtain an in-depth picture of the issues. Understanding these issues is central to developing informed policies for promoting FM specialists’ research engagement, as well as taking steps to build their research capacity. The study resulted in important findings in understanding the specialists’ challenges in conducting research, and the needs and support provided to researchers in FM in Kazakhstan. The research barriers are a lack of time to conduct research, difficulty in publishing research, and a lack of cooperation between peers and research mentoring from experienced professionals. Specialists’ needs include specialized training programs and internships, a team of like-minded people and research partnerships, and access to patient databases and archived data. The specifically targeted policies should be undertaken to facilitate the specialists’ research careers by promoting research engagement, fostering research capacity, and recognizing FM as a specialty. Characteristics of walk-in clinic physicians and patients in Ontario: Cross-sectional study.

To describe family physicians who primarily practise in a walk-in clinic setting and compare them with family physicians who provide longitudinal care. A cross-sectional study that linked results from a 2019 physician survey to provincial administrative health care data in Ontario. The characteristics, practice patterns, and patients of physicians primarily working in a walk-in clinic setting were compared with those of family physicians providing longitudinal care. Ontario. Physicians who primarily worked in a walk-in clinic setting in 2019, as indicated by an annual physician survey. Physician demographic and practice characteristics, as well as their patients' demographic and health care utilization characteristics, were reported according to whether the physician was a walk-in clinic physician or a family physician who provided longitudinal care. Compared with the 9137 family physicians providing longitudinal care, the 597 physicians who self-identified as practising primarily in walk-in clinics were more frequently male (67% vs 49%) and more likely to speak a language other than English or French (43% vs 32%). Walk-in clinic physicians tended to have more encounters with patients who were younger (mean 37 vs 47 years), who had lower levels of prior health care utilization (15% vs 19% in highest band), who resided in large urban areas (87% vs 77%), and who lived in highly ethnically diverse neighbourhoods (45% vs 35%). Walk-in clinic physicians tended to have more encounters with unattached patients (33% vs 17%) and with patients attached to another physician outside their group (54% vs 18%). Physicians who primarily work in walk-in clinics saw many patients from historically underserved groups and many patients who were attached to another family physician.

A family physician for all Indian families: A vision for 2047

ABSTRACT As India progresses towards its centenary of independence in 2047, the need for a comprehensive and compassionate healthcare system that emphasizes the role of family physicians has never been more urgent. Family physicians serve as the bedrock of primary health care, providing a holistic approach that encompasses preventive, curative, and rehabilitative care for individuals across all stages of life. This vision for 2047 articulates a future where every Indian family has access to a dedicated family physician who addresses their healthcare needs and promotes health education, and community well-being.

Development of a minimum data set for a blockchain-based personal health records (PHRs), for patient/physician interaction in family medicine

BACKGROUND: The primary requirement for a capable patient health record (PHR) that can interact appropriately with the family medicine system and collect and share qualified data is a minimum data set (MDS) aligned with family medicine’s functions and goals. The aim of this research was to determine the MDS for a blockchain-based PHR system that can effectively interact with family medicine providers and collect and share qualified data. This MDS is intended to be applicable to all members of the community covered by family medicine. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This applied study was conducted in 2022 in a cross-sectional and descriptive approach in three phases. In the first phase, a content analysis related to the research objectives was conducted in scientific databases, search engines, and websites of the centers and scientific research organizations with publications and policy-making in this field. Consequently, 11 studies were selected for use in the second and third phases. In the second phase, to determine information needs, a researcher-developed questionnaire including 17 classes was given to 50 people under the cover of the family medicine plan in Shiraz city. By choosing one of the two options “Yes” or “No” by them, the necessary data classes were determined. In the third phase, the second researcher-developed questionnaire was designed and administered to 100 family physicians in Shiraz city. This questionnaire included the data elements corresponding to the data classes approved in the previous phase. The family physicians were asked to rate the importance of each data element using a Likert scale with five options, ranging from “very unimportant” to “very important.” The necessary data elements were determined based on these scores. RESULTS: In the first questionnaire, 16 of the 17 data classes received approval from individuals covered by the family medicine plan. Consequently, a questionnaire comprising 16 classes and 105 data elements was administered to the family physicians. Ultimately, the MDS was determined to include 16 classes and 72 data elements. CONCLUSIONS: Determining essential data elements, especially for patient/physician interaction in family medicine, should be such that they can be managed by the person while being comprehensive and providing sufficient help to the physician during the treatment process. This MDS can be used to interact with and refer PHRs to other physicians and specialists, as well as help interoperability between the PHR and other health systems, such as hospital information systems (HIS) and electronic health records (EHRs).

Skin Biopsies and Diagnostic Outcomes at a Multisite Family Medicine Residency Network.

Physicians other than dermatologists evaluate nearly 60% of all skin diseases, and 22% of these physicians are family physicians. Dermatology education is therefore an important aspect of Family Medicine training. Dermatologic procedural training in Family Medicine residency is not standardized, however, so family physicians graduate with highly variable skills. This study describes the scope and diagnostic outcomes of skin biopsies performed by residents at a multisite Family Medicine residency network in comparison with those performed by attendings at a Family Medicine faculty community practice. We performed a retrospective chart review of patients evaluated at eight Family Medicine residency training sites and one Family Medicine faculty community practice within a regional academic health system between January 2020 and October 2022. Patients with a skin finding who underwent at least one skin biopsy during their visit were included in the study. Among all of the skin findings, the incidence of skin biopsy was 3.6% (258/7104) for residents and 1.8% (175/9917) for attendings (P < 0.001). Family Medicine residents performed fewer shave biopsies (57.8% vs 77.7%, P < 0.001) and more punch biopsies (25.6% vs 11.4%, P < 0.001) compared with attendings. Most biopsies performed by residents and attendings were benign, although residents biopsied significantly more benign (79.1% vs 64.6%, P < 0.001) and malignant lesions (11.2% vs 5.7%, P = 0.049). Attendings biopsied significantly more low-to-moderate-grade dysplastic (22.3% vs 5.0%, P < 0.001) and high-grade atypical lesions (4.0% vs 0.8%, P = 0.034). Family Medicine residents at this residency network receive training in a variety of skin biopsy types. Distinct skin biopsy practices and outcomes between residents and attendings may reflect differences in patient populations, clinical expertise, and dermatology referral patterns.

Deprescribing in Older Adults: Attitudes, Awareness, Training, and Clinical Practice Among Portuguese Physicians.

The importance of deprescribing in clinical practice is growing, particularly in aging populations with polypharmacy scenarios, making it a crucial matter in Portugal, one of Europe's most aged nations. The aim of this study was to investigate deprescribing awareness, training, attitudes, and practices among Portuguese physicians to inform future healthcare strategies. A cross-sectional study using an anonymous online questionnaire was disseminated through the Portuguese Medical Association. It gathered sociodemographic and professional data, and insights into deprescribing awareness, attitudes, training, and practices. Descriptive statistics were summarized as frequencies, percentages, medians, and interquartile ranges. For inferential analysis, the Chi-square test and Fisher's exact test were used to evaluate categorical variables, and the Mann-Whitney U test was used for continuous variables. The significance level was set at p < 0.05. A total of 425 valid questionnaires were included. The participants were mostly women (61.6%), with a median age of 45 (IQR 34 - 42). General practice/family medicine (34.1%) and internal medicine (16.2%) were the most common medical specialties. While 81.2% of the respondents were familiar with the term 'deprescribing', 55.4% reported no training. A vast majority (91.9%) reported practicing deprescribing, but a smaller fraction employed specific methodologies to deprescribe (39.8%) and criteria for identifying potentially inappropriate medications (38.7%). Training in deprescribing was significantly associated with higher deprescribing awareness (p < 0.001), the use of specific deprescribing methods (p < 0.001), the use of criteria to identify potentially inappropriate medications (p < 0.001) and having certification in geriatrics by the Portuguese Medical Association (p = 0.006). Family physicians showed higher familiarity with and training in deprescribing than hospital-based specialists (p < 0.001). Deprescribing methodologies were adopted more often by family physicians than by hospital-based specialists (p = 0.004). This study highlights widespread deprescribing awareness among Portuguese physicians, while simultaneously uncovering considerable gaps in training and inconsistencies in its application. These findings highlight the pressing need for targeted educational initiatives that could contribute to medication optimization for older adults in the national healthcare system. Furthermore, these findings emphasize the importance of policy development and medical education in promoting safe deprescribing.

Reducing healthcare waste by eliminating exam table paper in a primary care practice: a sustainable quality improvement initiative.

Climate change is now the greatest threat to human survival. The healthcare system contributes significantly to global pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Individual practitioners play an important role in helping to reduce these impacts in day-to-day practice. Deimplementation of unnecessary processes and products, such as exam table paper, in medical offices is one simple approach to incorporating principles of planetary health into practice. All quality improvement (QI) projects must start to consider environmental impacts to fully evaluate change ideas. We designed a single Plan-Do-Study-Act cycle using the Institute for Health Improvement Model for Improvement. We removed the exam table paper from our primary care office and measured changes in staff time, laundry, financial costs, paper use and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Eliminating exam table paper in our clinic resulted in modest annual cost savings of $C718 and improved staff efficiency and motivation to introduce other green office practices. In our clinic alone, this change will save 8.2 km of exam table paper, 10 trees and 148 kg of CO2e (equivalent to driving 1233 km) every year. There were no negative consequences or feedback. This simple QI project demonstrates the feasibility of implementing a small change in a primary care clinic that can improve environmental sustainability with multiple co-benefits. If all family physicians in Canada eliminated exam table paper in their offices, it would result in savings of approximately 95 940 km of paper, 121 680 trees, $C8 400 600 and 3054 T CO2 emissions, equivalent to driving around the world 360 times.

Toward a universal definition of provider-patient attachment in primary care.

To explore definitions of provider-patient attachment in primary care (PC) and help inform a universal definition of provider-patient attachment. Comprehensive searches were conducted using the electronic databases MEDLINE (Ovid), PubMed, CINAHL (EBSCO), PsycInfo (Ovid), Social Sciences Abstracts (EBSCO), Cochrane Library, Scopus, Embase (Ovid), Google Scholar, and ResearchGate. A scoping review was conducted. Articles focusing on PC setting, provider-patient attachment, and attachment approaches (enrolment, rostering, registration, empanelment) were included. All articles were from English-language publications and were available in full text in or after 2005. Of the 5955 unique titles, 97 peer-reviewed articles and 45 gray literature sources were included. The term attachment is sometimes used interchangeably with enrolment and empanelment. Provider-patient attachment is a confirmed affiliation between a patient and a regular primary care provider (PCP). This affiliation can be formal or informal. The goals are to deliver longitudinal care and establish a therapeutic relationship (relational continuity). Enrolment and empanelment are mechanisms that enable the affiliation of a patient with a PCP. Enrolment is a formal process of provider-patient affiliation, while empanelment is the assignment of a patient to a PCP. A universal definition of provider-patient attachment is provided: the confirmed and documented affiliation between a patient and a regular PCP (a clinician, ie, a family physician or nurse practitioner, etc), or a combination of clinician and care team or practice in which the PCP is responsible for providing longitudinal and continuous care to the patient via any delivery channel (ie, in person, remotely, or both), enabled by provider access to patient health information.

Time to Make Early Pregnancy Care a Priority in Canada

Early pregnancy is a critical period often accompanied by complications like early pregnancy loss. Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinics (EPACs) provide specialized and compassionate care to those experiencing these complications. First introduced in the United Kingdom, EPACs have been found to improve quality of care, reduce wait times, and cut costs. In Canada, EPACs are primarily limited to large urban centres at hospital sites. Access in other parts of the country, especially in rural areas, remains limited. Low-volume units managed by specialist nurses and family doctors, with support from specialists, are the best way to bring EPACs to more Canadians in need.

PROMOTE: An Innovative Curriculum to Enhance the Maternity Care Workforce.

Maternal morbidity and mortality disproportionally affect marginalized populations in both rural and urban settings. While the workforce of family physicians (FPs) who provide maternity care is declining, an enhanced obstetrics (OB) curriculum during residency training can help prepare future FPs to provide competent pregnancy care, particularly in marginalized communities. We developed an innovative OB curriculum-PROMOTE: Primary care obstetrics and maternal outcomes training enhancement-in an urban underserved residency program in Pennsylvania that directly addressed barriers previously known to impact maternity care practice. We created a clinical competency assessment aligned with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education requirements, and we reviewed resident feedback and logs throughout and upon completion of the track. After 3 years of implementation, 23 of 48 (48%) total residents entered and/or completed PROMOTE, compared to 17 of 45 (38%) total residents who chose the OB track in the 5 years prior to implementation. Postimplementation, 29.6% of total graduates practice inpatient obstetrics, compared to 26.6% prior to implementation. Twice annual competency evaluations were completed for all residents on the track. Our review of resident submitted feedback, logs, and competency assessments suggests that the curriculum has positively impacted their knowledge, skills, and clinical care provision. PROMOTE's curricular innovation enhances obstetrical training by addressing known facilitators and barriers to practicing family medicine obstetrics. PROMOTE was implemented in an existing family medicine residency with an obstetrics track and could be adapted by other residency programs to enhance the future maternity care workforce.

Approach to otitis externa.

To provide family physicians with a practical evidence-based approach to management of otitis externa. The approach described is based on MEDLINE and PubMed literature published between 1993 and 2023. Otitis externa is diffuse inflammation of the external auditory canal and typically occurs from moisture exposure and trauma. Management focuses on eliminating infection, pain management, education, and preventing recurrence. The primary treatment of uncomplicated otitis externa is topical. Complicated presentations may require additional systemic therapy. History taking and physical examination can help differentiate among acute, chronic, and necrotizing otitis externa. At-risk populations, typically those who are immunosuppressed, are more likely to develop necrotizing otitis externa and should be carefully monitored.

N-acetylcysteine Clinical Applications.

This study aims to evaluate the therapeutic application of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) as a treatment or adjunct therapy for various medical conditions. While its efficacy in treating acetaminophen overdose, cystic fibrosis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is well-established, emerging evidence suggests that NAC may also benefit a broader spectrum of illnesses due to its safety, simplicity, and affordability. A comprehensive review was conducted by searching PubMed, relevant books, and conference proceedings for publications discussing NAC about the specified health conditions. The clinically relevant data were analysed using the American Family Physician Evidence-Based Medicine Toolkit, following a standard integrated review methodology. NAC shows potential as an adjunctive treatment for a wide range of medical conditions, particularly chronic diseases. It may be beneficial for polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis, male infertility, cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye syndrome, parkinsonism, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, stroke outcomes, non-acetaminophen-induced acute liver failure, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Although evidence for some conditions is less robust, NAC's therapeutic potential warrants further investigation. Given the aging population and the decline in glutathione levels, the use of NAC should be considered across a variety of medical conditions. This paper suggests that NAC supplementation could play a significant role in reducing morbidity and mortality associated with numerous chronic diseases.

Provider Guidance for the Prevention of Respiratory Syncytial Virus in Infants: Maternal Vaccination Versus Infant Monoclonal Antibody Treatment.

In 2023, the Food and Drug Administration approved 2 new products to reduce the risk of lower respiratory infections caused by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in infants: Beyfortus (nirsevimab; AstraZeneca/Sanofi), a single-dose monoclonal antibody for infant administration, and Abrysvo (bivalent RSVpreF vaccine; Pfizer), a single-dose maternal vaccination. We aimed to synthesize data from the literature and the leading professional organizations to provide guidance on RSV and strategies to reduce the risk of infant infection. This information will assist prenatal care clinicians in counseling their patients regarding the choice between maternal vaccination and the infant monoclonal antibody. A descriptive review of the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG), American Academy of Pediatrics, Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and the American Academy of Family Physicians. All 5 organizations recommend that RSV vaccination should be offered to all pregnant people during the RSV season (September-January in the continental United States). Infants younger than 8 months entering into their first RSV season born to those who did not receive maternal vaccination or received vaccination less than 14 days prior to birth should be offered monoclonal antibody administration. RSV vaccination and monoclonal antibodies have the potential to significantly reduce the burden of lower respiratory tract infections due to RSV in infants. Future studies should further evaluate the durability of protection and other strategies to further protect the infant, including cocooning and the role of breast milk in immunity.

Effectiveness of Audit and Feedback and Academic Detailing Interventions to Support Safer Opioid Prescribing in Primary Care

BackgroundOpioids, prescribed to manage pain, are associated with safety risks. Quality improvement strategies such as audit and feedback and academic detailing may improve prescribing in primary care. MethodsWe used a matched-cohort design with claims databases. Participants were family physicians practicing in Ontario, Canada. The interventions were a voluntary audit and feedback report with or without academic detailing sessions. Physicians in the control group received neither intervention. The primary outcome was mean rate of high-risk opioid prescriptions per 100 patients per month. Data were analyzed comparing monthly percentage change in slope over 12 months before and 18 months after the intervention. Additional analyses considered only the subgroup of higher-prescribing physicians. ResultsThere were 1469 (25%) physicians in the audit and feedback group, 245 (4%) in the audit and feedback + academic detailing group, and 4211 (71%) matched controls. All groups showed a significant preintervention decline in opioid prescribing. There were no significant between-group differences in opioid prescribing postintervention. Among high-prescribing physicians, there was a significant reduction in the audit and feedback group (% change in slope = –0.37, 95% CI = –0.65 to –0.09, P < .01), but not in the academic detailing group (% change in slope = 0.19, 95% CI = –0.52 to 0.91, P = .59). ConclusionsThis study demonstrated declining secular trends in prescribing and suggests that two large-scale initiatives had limited additional benefits. We found some additional reductions after audit and feedback among the highest-volume opioid prescribers. Future interventions should focus on these physicians for the greatest benefit.

“Tell me I’m okay”: A cross-sectional quality-of-life assessment of patients in a breast cancer survivorship program.

213 Background: The number of breast cancer survivors is increasing due to improvements in care and an aging population, leading to an increased need for care that addresses the physical and psychological needs of patients after completion of active treatment. The Sunnybrook Breast Cancer Survivorship Program was established to provide comprehensive evidence-based survivorship care and facilitate the transition to family doctors. Despite rising interest in dedicated survivorship care, there is little consensus regarding which individuals are likely to suffer the most long-term impacts of breast cancer treatment. Factors as varied as age, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and treatment type can influence Quality-of-Life (QoL) outcomes. This cross-sectional assessment uses mixed methods to evaluate QoL trends in the patient cohort. Methods: Current patients of the Sunnybrook Breast Cancer Survivorship Program were asked to complete a baseline information form, as well as the EORTC QLQ-30 and BR-45, two validated measures of QoL for breast cancer patients and survivors. QoL, functional, and symptom domains were calculated from these responses accordingly and analyzed statistically. Patients reported their most bothersome QoL concerns through an open-ended questionnaire, which was analyzed and organized thematically. 99 patients have been recruited to date, of a planned 200. Results: We find that sexual health is of importance for this population, with 50 (50.5%) participants reporting sexual activity. Patients under 50 have poorer sexual functioning scores (p&lt;0.01) as well as more issues with body image (p&lt;0.05) than older survivors. Both married and under-50 patients are significantly more likely to have poorer outlooks on the future (p&lt;0.05; p&lt;0.01). Younger patients also tended to have worse role functioning, cognitive functioning, emotional functioning, and social functioning scores, though these differences were not statistically significant. Thematic analysis of qualitative data showed that patients’ chief concerns were the impact that ongoing side effects had on their daily functioning, impact of treatment on body image, disruptions to work and personal relationships, and strong anxiety about potential recurrence. Conclusions: While it is understood that younger BC survivors face unique challenges, our findings indicate that these obstacles persist into older age groups. In addition to physical side effects, such concerns as body image issues, social strain, and emotional functioning can drive QoL scores for these patients. Notably, many patients endorsed strong anxiety regarding potential recurrence that affected QoL, and identified dedicated survivorship follow-up as an ameliorating factor. Further research should be conducted into the unique needs of under-50 survivors, as well as the role of recurrence anxiety in impacting QoL.
