The use of active teaching methods in the process of studying school geography courses

The article discusses the role of active teaching methods in the educational process of geography, which contribute to activating students’ cognitive activity, preparing them for lifelong self-education, and ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of knowledge acquisition. The study utilized theoretical methods, namely general scientific methods of investigating reality, comparative-historical and structural methods, as well as empirical methods: surveys, discussions, interviews; observational (observation, self-observation); practimetric (analysis of advanced and mass pedagogical experience, analysis of activity results).Experimental work was carried out in general secondary education institutions in Vinnytsia city and Vinnytsia region.Various views of scientists and respondents on the substantive essence of the concept of «active teaching methods» have been considered. An analysis of the results of a ascertainment experiment was carried out, during which the real state of the problem in teaching practice was clarified. In particular, during discussions, observations in classes, conducting independent work, surveys of teachers and students, we concluded that at the present stage in the educational process of geography, various active forms and methods of teaching are used. However, their advantages and disadvantages are not always taken into account, often the substantive essence is distorted by teachers, thus the effectiveness is neutralized. Many respondents do not associate deep, thoughtful assimilation of knowledge with the need to organize students’ search activities. Therefore, methods that stimulate active independent creative work of students in geography lessons are underestimated. It is noted that active learning is associated by modern students with creativity, innovation, independence, critical thinking, development of communicative abilities, group activities, ability to substantiate their own position, self-confidence, diversity of opinions, peer learning.Methodological features of applying active and interactive teaching methods in geography lessons have been determined, including research, partially search, brainstorming, educational discussion, analysis of problematic situations, intellectual warm-ups, role-playing games. The motives for their implementation, advantages and disadvantages have been identified. In further research, more attention should be paid to the use of interactive teaching methods, STEM technologies in the process of studying geography to unleash the creative potential of students, and to foster critical thinking on this basis.

Peculiarities of motivation for education of modern adolescents


 
 
 The article analyzes the study of the problem of motivation in scientific sources, analyzes the motivation to learn adolescents and considers the specifics of motivation to learn in adolescence. Approaches to the study of personality motivation are determined, the connection of motivation with the cognitive needs of the personality and different types of activity is shown, as well as its influence on the efficiency of knowledge acquisition. It is determined that learning motivation is characterized by focus, stability and dynamism, excited by the hierarchy of motives, which may be dominated by either internal motives related to the content of this activity and its implementation, or broad social motives related to the need to take a position. system of social relations. Taking into account the age specifics of the modern teenager, the structure of his educational motivation is specified. It was found that interest is especially important in the formation of adolescent learning motivation. In the presence of stable interest, the process of development of cognitive (cognitive) functions and vital skills is greatly facilitated. There are two tendencies: the motive of success and the motive of avoiding failure. Empirical study of the peculiarities of motivation to teach adolescents has shown that students with an average level of learning motivation have an average level of grades, their knowledge of school subjects is not deep enough. This indicates a spontaneous impact on the motivation of the adolescent and an insufficient level of purposeful work with motivation. There was a noticeable tendency to an increased level of motivation to learn in the studied adolescents, but a closer look at their motivational sphere revealed that the dominant motive is positional, ie learning success is seen as a means to obtain high status in the reference group. Prospects for further research are formulated, which consist in the development and testing of a correctional and developmental program for the formation of educational motivation of adolescent students; in the study of personal readiness of teachers to form such motivation and the readiness of practical psychologists of the education system to the appropriate psychological support of this process.
 
 

A Cleaning Control Knowledge-Based System Based on Complex Problem Solving

The intelligent control of cleaning of rice–wheat combined harvester is a complex problem, which includes the initial setting of cleaning control, judgment of cleaning loss state, cause analysis and selection of corresponding control strategies and many other sub-problems. The knowledge contained in these sub-problems, including knowledge representation methods and reasoning strategies, is different. Therefore, this paper decomposes the complex problem of cleaning control into a sub-problem of hierarchical structure, and constructs a knowledge model of cleaning control based on binary tree structure. In this way, the cleaning control problem can be decomposed into a small set of sub-problems by the judgment of the nodes of the binary tree, until the sub-problems are small enough to be solved directly so as to get the solution of the original problem. It is proved by examples that this method is of great significance to improve the efficiency of knowledge acquisition, management and maintenance of the expert system of rice–wheat combine harvester, and to enhance the knowledge service ability of the expert system of rice–wheat combine harvester. This method can also be used for reference in other fields.

On Rough Set-Based Modeling and with Application to Process Decision for Forming Plate by Line Heating

In shipbuilding, forming plate by line heating is atypical complex manufacturing process involving many uncertain factors, so it is difficult to establish an accurate mathematical model. How to establish a knowledge model that can reflect technological laws is the key to the development of an intelligent decision system for forming plate by line heating. In this article, rough set (RS) theory is applied to the modeling of the line heating process. By defining variable-inclusion RSs, an algorithm of knowledge reduction is proposed, which enhances the noise immunity and fault tolerance of the model, and improves the efficiency of knowledge acquisition. Through introducing fuzzy logic, a method of modeling the line heating process based on RSs and fuzzy logic is proposed, which effectively extracts the technological rules of plate formation. Finally, rapid decision-making for process parameters is implemented by fuzzy inference technology. 1. Introduction For some complex manufacturing technologies in modern shipbuilding, such as line heating and welding processes, it is difficult to establish an exact mathematical model because of high nonlinearity, multivariable coupling, and uncertainties of the system. With the development of computer technology and artificial intelligence, soft computing methods such as artificial neural networks, genetic algorithms, fuzzy logic, and rough set (RS) theory have been applied successively in ship manufacturing process modeling, which shows good prospects for intelligent technology in shipbuilding. Shin et al. (1999) at Seoul National University used a single-curvature plate model to simulate the formation of saddle-type shells and deduce the technological parameters of line heating by an artificial neural network. They also proposed a comprehensive algorithm for automatically curving plate by line heating, and further developed an application system that can simulate the deformation of double-curved plates (Shin et al. 2004a, 2004b). Liu et al. (2006) applied a hierarchical genetic algorithm to optimize the technological parameters of an automatic line heating process. In the field of ship welding, fuzzy logic technology has been used to establish a fuzzy model of the relationship between welding variables and weld forming-parameters (Su 2009). Feng (2012) set up a knowledge base of a ship-welding process by a RS method and then implemented ship-welding production design through uncertainty reasoning. Based on RS theory, Chen and Lv (2013) developed a data-driven knowledge base for quality control of ship hull welding.

Study on the Modeling Method of Knowledge Base System in Web Environment

A knowledge model for knowledge base system in the Web environment is proposed, which includes problem description layer and knowledge layer. A knowledge base is made up of a set of knowledge models. Knowledge models are used to support knowledge representation and reasoning. Visual knowledge modeling tool and visual knowledge service tool based on Web environment realize the construction of knowledge base system in Web environment. The knowledge base system supports the construction of agricultural expert system. By comparison with CommonKADS, it is proved that this method can improve the efficiency of knowledge acquisition, management and maintenance in Web environment. This method also has the reference significance to the construction of the knowledge base system in the Web environment in other domains.

Analysis of Educational Characteristics of Personalized Virtual Reality Terminal Devices

Virtual reality technology has been continuously integrated with the education field in its development process. It has been widely practiced and applied in all aspects of teaching and learning. This paper presents five educational characteristics of personalized virtual reality terminal devices: student experience, cultivation of interest in learning, knowledge acquisition efficiency, hands-on capacity building and innovative ability training. We introduced four typical terminal devices used in virtual simulation experiments: PC, three-dimensional(3D) desktop, head-mounted display and mobile phone, compared their performance on the above five characteristics. The study summarized the use scenarios of each device and provided a reference for device selection of virtual simulation experiments.

An incremental approach to attribute reduction from dynamic incomplete decision systems in rough set theory

Attribute reduction is an important preprocessing step in data mining and knowledge discovery. The effective computation of an attribute reduct has a direct bearing on the efficiency of knowledge acquisition and various related tasks. In real-world applications, some attribute values for an object may be incomplete and an object set may vary dynamically in the knowledge representation systems, also called decision systems in rough set theory. There are relatively few studies on attribute reduction in such systems. This paper mainly focuses on this issue. For the immigration and emigration of a single object in the incomplete decision system, an incremental attribute reduction algorithm is developed to compute a new attribute reduct, rather than to obtain the dynamic system as a new one that has to be computed from scratch. In particular, for the immigration and emigration of multiple objects in the system, another incremental reduction algorithm guarantees that a new attribute reduct can be computed on the fly, which avoids some re-computations. Compared with other attribute reduction algorithms, the proposed algorithms can effectively reduce the time required for reduct computations without losing the classification performance. Experiments on different real-life data sets are conducted to test and demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.

A “Flow” Based Method for Knowledge Mining and Visualization of Patents

Patent knowledge mining and reusing have become one of the shortcuts during the conceptual design. However, in fact, it is difficult to obtain the deep function and principle knowledge which are the most important part for conceptual design through the existing knowledge mining method. Therefore, this paper established a method of knowledge mining and visualization of patents based on the "Flow", through which the designer can improve the efficiency of knowledge acquisition, find the hidden principle of innovation, and promote innovation finally.

A New Algorithm for the Acquisition of Knowledge from Scientific Literature in Specific Fields Based on Natural Language Comprehension

The acquisition of knowledge and the representation of that acquisition have always been viewed as the bottleneck in the construction of knowledge-based systems. The traditional methods of acquiring knowledge are based on knowledge engineering and communication with field experts. However, these methods cannot produce systematic knowledge effectively, automatically construct knowledge-based systems, or benefit knowledge reasoning. It has been noted that, in specific professional fields, experts often use fixed patterns to describe their expertise in the scientific articles that they publish. Abstracts and conclusions, for example, are key components of the scientific article, containing abundant field knowledge. This paper suggests a method of acquiring production rules from the abstracts and conclusions of scientific articles in specific fields based on natural language comprehension. First, the causal statements in article abstracts and conclusions are extracted using existing techniques, such as text mining. Next, antecedence and consequence fragments are extracted using causal template matching algorithms. As the final step, part-of-speech-tagging production rules are automatically generated according to a syntax parsing tree from the speech pair sequence. Experiments show that this system not only improves the efficiency of knowledge acquisition but also simultaneously generates systematic knowledge and guarantees the accuracy of acquired knowledge.

User-Centered Evaluation of Arizona BioPathway: An Information Extraction, Integration, and Visualization System

Explosive growth in biomedical research has made automated information extraction, knowledge integration, and visualization increasingly important and critically needed. The Arizona BioPathway (ABP) system extracts and displays biological regulatory pathway information from the abstracts of journal articles. This study uses relations extracted from more than 200 PubMed abstracts presented in a tabular and graphical user interface with built-in search and aggregation functionality. This paper presents a task-centered assessment of the usefulness and usability of the ABP system focusing on its relation aggregation and visualization functionalities. Results suggest that our graph-based visualization is more efficient in supporting pathway analysis tasks and is perceived as more useful and easier to use as compared to a text-based literature-viewing method. Relation aggregation significantly contributes to knowledge-acquisition efficiency. Together, the graphic and tabular views in the ABP Visualizer provide a flexible and effective interface for pathway relation browsing and analysis. Our study contributes to pathway-related research and biological information extraction by assessing the value of a multiview, relation-based interface that supports user-controlled exploration of pathway information across multiple granularities.
