A novel chemosensor based on ampyrone linked 1,2,3-triazole hybrid was synthesized successfully via CuAAC reaction for metal ion detection. The probe was evaluated against various metal ions, displaying significant hyperchromic shifts at 319 and 277 nm on addition of Fe(II) and Fe(III) ions, Wherein, Fe(III) ions were found to deliver pronounced effect which is almost twice as compared to Fe(II) ions. The detection limits were 0.11 mM for Fe(II) and 0.08 mM for Fe(III). Job’s plot confirmed a 1:1 complex formation between the probe and metal ions. Also, present probe demonstrated considerable in-vitro antifungal properties as compared to fluconazole for C. albicans and A. niger. The DFT validated probe-metal interactions and molecular docking demonstrated its potential as an inhibitor for DNA gyrase and sterol 14α-demethylase enzymes. Present chemosensor may find application in environmental monitoring, analytical chemistry, and biomedical research.
