The article presents the results of the complex analysis of the systemic impact of key factors on the economic security of enterprises, based on the proposed methodological approach using analytical tools, with the determination of the dynamics of changes and structural shifts. Information base with statistical information for the research based on statistical data for the 14-year period from 2010 to 2023 has been formed. The main trends in the development of domestic enterprises by sectors of the economy during the research have been identified. The presence of negative trends in particular during 2013 – 2014 have been established, which are characterized by a decrease in the volume of products sold (goods, services) of business entities by the type of economic activity. Decrease in the volume of products sold for enterprises in the industrial sector and agricultural enterprises in 2013 has been established. However, more negative impact of factors is being observed at 2022. The highest level of decline at the level of (-93.67%) has been established in the volume of products sold (goods, services) of individual entrepreneurs in 2022. Analysis of the dynamics of sales volumes also allowed us to identify progressive enterprises by the type of economic activity. In particular, positive changes in such types of economic activity as «Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles»; «Construction» and «Transport, warehousing, postal and courier activities» based on the results of research on structural shifts that occurred in the period from 2021 to 2023 have been identified. The level of activity of individual entrepreneurs and their role in the development of economic processes during the study has been determined. Imbalances in the process of analytical comparison of the volumes of products sold, in particular, the volumes of products sold by types of economic activity in general at the level of the national economy and by sectors, as well as the volumes of products sold by individual entrepreneurs have been identified. The use of the proposed approach allowed us to determine the systemic impact of key factors and to form the basis for making strategic decisions aimed at ensuring economic security.

Institutional complexity in cross-border HRM practices: a comparative analysis in India

PurposeThis study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of human resource management (HRM) practices between domestic and multinational enterprises within India, a large emerging economy. It also highlights the distinct institutional arrangements that potentially influence the employment practices of these organizations.Design/methodology/approachData were collected from a diverse sample of domestic and multinational enterprises in India. The study utilized multivariate analysis to examine HRM practices, focusing on training and development, incentives and rewards and retention practices.FindingsContrary to initial expectations, the results indicate that DEs place significantly more emphasis on HRM practices than MNEs. This finding suggests that organizational scale and global presence do not consistently translate into a greater emphasis on critical HRM parameters. Instead, DEs leverage their local market knowledge and understanding of cultural and institutional nuances to prioritize effective HRM strategies.Research limitations/implicationsThe study did not categorize the nationality of MNEs, which could reveal how different cultural contexts impact HRM practices. It is possible that MNEs headquartered in distinct cultural contexts may exhibit varying behaviors compared to enterprises based in different cultural environments. Additionally, while our findings reveal that domestic enterprises prioritize certain HRM practices over multinational firms, the question remains whether this emphasis translates into favorable organizational performance outcomes.Practical implicationsBoth multinational and domestic enterprises should tailor their HRM practices to align with local dynamics and institutional arrangements. DEs can use their emphasis on HRM practices as a competitive advantage in attracting and retaining local talent, while MNEs should enhance cross-cultural competence to better integrate within different national contexts.Originality/valueThis study introduces a critical rethinking of HRM practices by illustrating the unique ways DEs and MNEs navigate institutional complexities within India. Unlike traditional assumptions that emphasize the superiority of MNE practices, this research uncovers how DEs strategically leverage local institutional knowledge to outperform MNEs in HRM dimensions. By embedding these findings within institutional theory, this study extends the theoretical discourse on organizational adaptability in emerging markets and provides actionable insights for aligning HRM strategies with local institutional contexts, fostering a comprehensive understanding of HRM dynamics across diverse economies.

Can the Reform of “Streamline Administration and Delegate Power, Improve Regulation, and Optimize Services” Help Drive Export Diversification of Wood-Processing Enterprises?

The Chinese government has often been suspected of excessively intervening in the market. The reform of “Streamline Administration and Delegate Power, Improve Regulation, and Optimize Services” (RSDO) is a key initiative by the Chinese government to help enterprises improve their international competitive advantage through institutional reforms. Few studies have empirically tested the effects of RSDO on enterprises’ export diversification. Using the data of 2141 wood-processing enterprises (WPEs) in China in 2014, this study applies zero-truncated negative binomial regression and the Tobit model to evaluate the effects of prefecture-level RSDO on enterprises’ export product and market diversification. The results show that the RSDO can enhance WPEs’ export product diversification without significantly impacting export market diversification. Regarding specific indicators, the reforms of “Streamline Administration and Delegate Power” and “Improve Regulation” significantly positively affect export product and market diversification. In contrast, the optimization of government services shows no significant impact. Heterogeneity tests show that the RSDO promotes export diversification in wooden products and furniture manufacturing enterprises, smaller enterprises, domestic enterprises, and those with weaker operational capabilities. The impact mechanism shows that the RSDO aids sample enterprises in enhancing export product diversification by lowering operational costs and supports export market diversification by encouraging technological innovation.

Managing China's Energy Efficiency

Managing energy efficiency is essential for ensuring national energy security and facilitating a transition to a green economy. Outer circulation creates favorable external conditions. Using data from listed firms information in China between 2007 and 2016, this paper examines the effect of cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&A) on energy efficiency through a PSM-DID model. The research shows that: (1) M&A can effectively manage and improve energy efficiency of domestic enterprises, with the positive impact showing a clear trend of increasing annually. (2) The mechanism analysis suggests that the enhancement of energy efficiency is driven by technological and structural effects. (3) Furthermore, the rise in energy efficiency benefits more from M&A in regions along the Belt and Road Initiative and countries with stricter environmental regulations. The findings of this paper provide important insights into the management of international capital flows, energy efficiency improvement, and sustainable development.

The Role of IMF and International Financial Security: Ensuring External Sector Stability for Nigeria

This study examines The Role of IMF and International Financial Security: Ensuring External Sector Stability for Nigeria. It explores factors such as inflation, exchange rates, interest rates, and investment as critical determinants of external sector stability for Nigeria. Utilizing a quantitative research design, the study employs an econometric model to estimate the effects of these variables on external sector stability. The methodology involves data collection from reliable economic sources, followed by statistical analysis using Auto Regressive Distributed Lag Model (ARDL) to determine the significance and strength of relationships among the variables. The findings reveal that money supply is the primary long-run determinant of exchange rate movements in Nigeria, with excess liquidity leading to currency depreciation. In the short run, past inflation, trade openness, and entrepreneurial activities significantly influence exchange rate fluctuations. Trade openness contributes to exchange rate depreciation, suggesting that Nigeria’s import dependence exerts pressure on the foreign exchange market. Meanwhile, increased domestic enterprise activity strengthens the exchange rate, indicating the importance of production-driven economic policies. The presence of a stable long-run relationship, as confirmed by the error correction term, highlights the need for policy measures that balance short-term exchange rate volatility with long-term external sector stability. Based on these findings, the study recommends policy measures such as maintaining moderate inflation levels, stabilizing exchange rates through appropriate monetary policies, and fostering investment. Also, long-term structural reforms aimed at diversifying the economy, improving foreign exchange earnings through non-oil exports, and strengthening financial sector development will be crucial in sustaining external sector stability. By adopting these measures, Nigeria can enhance its economic resilience, mitigate external sector vulnerabilities, and promote sustainable exchange rate stability in the long run. Keywords: International Financial Security; External Sector Stability; Inflation, Exchange rate; Nigeria

PECULIARITIES OF DIAGNOSTICS APPLICATION AT THE STAGE OF STRATEGIC CHANGES IN THE ENTERPRISE'S ENVIRONMENT

The article is aimed at defining the specifics, methodological approaches and directions for improving the processes of conducting economic diagnostics of an enterprise with due regard for strategic changes in the business environment. The subject of the study is the theoretical, methodological and practical aspects of economic diagnostics of enterprise. The study substantiates the organisational processes of diagnostics, reveals the importance of combining systemic and integrated approaches to conducting evaluation and analytical procedures, and reveals aspects of forming diagnostics of the enterprise's strategic development. Methodology. The theoretical and methodological basis for the study were the achievements of economic theory, works of domestic and foreign scientists, analysts, and specialists on diagnostics of strategic development of enterprises, improvement of the management system of an economic entity. The article uses the following methods: scientific cognition and abstraction (to determine the goals, significance, functions, tasks of enterprise diagnostics in the direction of ensuring the implementation of current and strategic development plans); methods of generalisation and system analysis (to determine the peculiarities of carrying out evaluation and analytical procedures for the objects of diagnostic research of an enterprise); methods of forecasting and analogies (to systematise the impact of the external business environment, trends in strategic changes on the development of strategic potential and, in general, on the financial and economic activities of an enterprise); methods of systematisation and logical generalisation (to formulate substantive conclusions from the study). Research conclusion. For domestic enterprises, it is important to ensure stable, targeted multi-vector development, which in terms of its substantive coverage involves changes in most areas of financial and economic activity, is planned and systematic. Ensuring these changes involves improving management tools, including diagnostics, planning and forecasting. At the stage of strategic changes in the business environment for the development of the enterprise, ensuring the efficiency of doing business, it is relevant to outline own conceptual approaches to diagnostics as an important management system. A clear definition of the goals and objectives of diagnostics, the formation of an appropriate programme and plans, and the improvement of the organisational stages of diagnostic procedures provide reliable and high-quality information for making informed management decisions and implementing the programme-targeted areas of the entity's development with the formation of a basic strategy.

Trust as a factor of corporate solidarity in industrial enterprises of Russia

The article is devoted to the study of corporate solidarity in Russian industrial enterprises and the influence of organisational trust on the processes of its formation. The results of surveys conducted in 2021 - 2022 at three large industrial enterprises (the total number of respondents was 2764 people) were used as the empirical basis of the study. It is based on methods for studying attitudes and work behaviour, repeatedly tested by Russian authors, as well as on the method for measuring organisational trust, used in domestic practice for the first time. It was found that the characteristics of most employees correspond to the model of corporate solidarity, while organisational trust really plays a positive role in its formation: trusting relationships with colleagues help to strengthen the identification of employees with the enterprise, and vertical trust stimulates the development of pro-organisational attitudes. A typology of trust definitions is proposed, as well as a conceptualisation of trust in the field of labour relations, that allowed to interpret the level of trust at the surveyed enterprises as relatively high. Understanding trust in scientific literature tends to psychologise this concept - to reduce it to a psychological attitude. Taking into account the status and temporal aspects of labour relations allows, in our opinion, to resociologise the concept of "trust". Trust in the sphere of production should be understood as reciprocal and based on institutional action. As a measure to stimulate trust between management and employees, it is proposed to take into account the experience of working directors in foreign practice as a channel for informing employees about the financial and economic situation of the enterprise and legitimising of management decisions. Historically, this institution was associated with the participation of employees in management, that rather discredited its capabilities in the eyes of both parties, since it can seem ephemeral to one side and an encroachment on the prerogatives of management to the other. The specificity of the interaction of various types of trust allows us to conclude that the prospects for the development of corporate solidarity at domestic enterprises depend mainly on the vector of development of the organisational environment and labour relations.

Analysis on the current status and characteristic of clinical trials for oral diseases in China

Objective: To understand the current status and characteristics of clinical trials for oral diseases in China, for the purpose of providing a reference for the research and development of oral diseases in China. Methods: Retrieving the information on clinical trials related to oral diseases registered on the"Platforms for drug clinical trial registration and information"of the National Medical Products Administration from the date of the database establishment to December 31, 2024. The number of clinical trials, type of drugs, trial phases, indication, trial scope, design types were statistically analyzed. Results: As of December 31, 2024, a total of 578 drug clinical trials for oral disease were registered, accounting for 2.1% (578/27 905) of the clinical trials disclosed on the platform during the same period. Bioequivalence clinical trials accounted for the highest proportion [73.9% (427/578)], followed by Phase Ⅰ [9.0% (52/578)], Phase Ⅱ [8.0% (46/578)], and Phase Ⅲ [4.5% (26/578)]. The 578 clinical trials involved 149 types of trial drugs, mainly chemical drugs, among which 127 were developed by domestic pharmaceutical enterprises and 27 by international pharmaceutical enterprises (the five investigational drugs have undergone clinical trials by both domestic and international pharmaceutical companies). The project leader units of the 578 drug clinical trials were distributed in 27 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Excluding 427 bioequivalence clinical trials, the project leader units of 151 new drug clinical trials showed a significant aggregation phenomenon, and only three specialized oral hospitals have served as project leader units for drug clinical trials. Conclusions: The number of drug clinical trials for oral disease in China has generally shown an increasing trend, but there are still problems such as small number of clinical trials, low proportion of investment in new drug development and international multicenter trials, concentrated indications of clinical trials and insufficient clinical trial experience in specialized oral medical institutions. Adoption of 37mm Maxim Automatic Guns by Russian Navy in Late 19th to Early 20th Century

This study investigates the adoption of Maxim automatic guns by the Russian Navy during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It explores the close relationship between this topic and the development of naval artillery in Russia, as well as the dynamics of the domestic military-industrial complex and the functioning of the Ministry of the Navy of the Russian Empire during the period in question. The relevance of this research is underscored by the limited scholarship on the subject and its significance for analyzing historical experiences in weapon development. An analysis of archival sources is conducted, with many documents being introduced into scholarly discourse for the first time. The author concludes that the Russian military industry of that era was ill-prepared for the production of automatic guns. It is reported that the Ministry of the Navy deemed it unnecessary to allocate substantial financial resources for organizing their production through foreign companies. The study reveals that the ministry opted for a compromise solution, acquiring a limited number of new weapons with the intention of subsequently establishing production capabilities within domestic enterprises. Ultimately, it is established that Maxim automatic guns were never adopted by the Russian army and navy, both of which were in dire need of such weaponry during World War I.

APPROACHES TO ENSURING RESOURCE EFFICIENCY IN THE PRODUCTION OF PAPER AND CARDBOARD (REVIEW)

Nowadays, Ukraine has chosen the European vector as the direction of its development. That is why industrial development must take into account the principles and norms of sustainable development and the circular economy. Ensuring resource efficiency is a necessary condition for the development of any enterprise. Due to economic and environmental restrictions, production of cardboard and paper products is being improved towards the use of waste paper, which leads to pollution of wastewater, and increased use of fresh water. An important problem in the use of waste paper is its polydispersity, which consists in the use of various cellulose fibers and fillers in the production of cardboard and paper products. Such polydispersity has a significant impact on the quality of the finished product and on wastewater pollution. The problem of effective treatment of industrial wastewater from paper production to obtain water for repeated use in the technological process, as well as the urgent problem of processing secondary waste from wastewater treatment remain unresolved. The issue of paper production development in the context of sustainable development should be developed taking into account technical and technological achievements in the field of ecology and chemical technology to ensure the efficient use of raw materials, in particular water and fibrous semi-finished products. The main problems associated with the use of secondary raw materials are described, taking into account environmental and economic aspects. Technological approaches, which allow to ensure the sustainable development of the industry, are described and analyzed. In general, the successful experience of European manufacturers in creating resource-efficient and clean technologies can be used as the basis for the further development of domestic enterprises.

Some issues of the certain measures of preventing the violations of labor protection standards in the conditions of martial state in Ukraine

The article considers the most relevant issues related to citizens’ appeals, inspection measures and legal liability, which are applied as a result of violations of the legislation of Ukraine on occupational health, safety and hygiene. The concept of responsibility in modern legal science is clarified in detail. The authors cite several of the most successful academic definitions of this concept. The conclusion is made that the study of various definitions of the content of the concept of «responsibility» gives grounds to assert the following main features of it: 1. Legal responsibility is a type of social responsibility. 2. The basis for legal liability is a violation of the law or right committed by an individual or legal entity. 3. The consequences of legal liability are a negative reaction of the state in the person of the competent authorities, which consists in applying sanctions to the violator of the law or law. 4. Sanctions (collective penalties, punishments, measures) as consequences of legal liability consist in the loss of certain benefits of a personal, organizational and property nature by the offender for the committed offense. 5. Legal liability is expressed in the norms of law, which are enshrined in current regulatory legal acts of a national nature, more often codified. 6. The application of legal liability has a clear procedural form. The article emphasizes the importance of two real legal instruments used in modern public administration in the field of labor: legal and organizational. The article also draws attention to the mechanisms for detecting violations in the field of labor protection and bringing them to justice. According to the authors, most often the specified offenses are officially detected as a result of the activities of specialists of the labor protection service of enterprises, institutions and organizations; persons authorized by trade unions for labor protection issues and employees as a result of reports by these persons to specially authorized state authorities. Also, violations in the field of labor protection are detected by specialists of the State Labor Protection Service of Ukraine (and their territorial bodies) as a result of the exercise of inspection powers. The authors of the scientific article analyze the legal, organizational, and practical aspects of citizens’ appeals to authorized bodies with reports of violations of occupational health, safety, and hygiene at domestic enterprises.
