Zigzag Double-Strands Consisting of “Coordination-Gallery, [Ag3(NO3)3(Py2S)2•2H2O

Abstract Zigzag silver(I) single-strands connected by 4,4′-dipyridyl sulfide are bridged via weak π-π and AgI-AgI interactions to generate subtle double-strands that exhibit the most plentiful and characteristic coordination modes. The compound gives an intense and broad emission (λmax at 561 nm) which is yellow luminescence.

THE SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF DINUCLEAR PLATINUM COMPLEXES BRIDGED BY DIPYRIDYL SELENIDES OR SULFIDES

Four novel dinuclear platinum complexes [PtCl2(Me2SO)]2(L) with pyridine‐based single bridging ligands, L = 4,4′–dipyridyl selenide (dpse), bis(3–methyl–4–pyridyl) selenide (dpsem), 4,4′–dipyridyl sulfide (dpsu), bis(3–methyl–4–pyridyl) sulfide (dpsum), have been prepared for use as potential anticancer agents. The characterization of these complexes is based on microanalysis, IR, 1H, 13C and 195Pt NMR.

Comparison of the mode of action of a dinuclear platinum complex containing a pyridine derivative with its monomeric analog

The DNA binding and interstrand cross-linking properties of the dinuclear platinum complex [{ cis-Pt(NH 3) 2Cl} 2bpsu](NO 3) 2 (bpsu is 4,4′-dipyridyl sulfide) (II) and the mononuclear complex [ cis-Pt(NH 3) 2Cl(4-methylpyridine)]NO 3 (I) were compared with those of [{ cis-Pt(NH 3) 2Cl} 2H 2N(CH 2) 4NH 2](NO 3) 2 (III) in order to understand the mode of action of complexes I and II. Both compound I and compound II caused significantly different changes of conformation in poly(dG-dC)·poly(dG-dC) than compound III did. Studies of DNA binding, interstrand cross-linking and fluorescence assay suggest that compound I monofunctionally binds to DNA and compound II bifunctionally binds to DNA, that the dinuclear platinum complex II more efficiently interacts with DNA compared to its monomeric analog, and that platinum I and II complexes both interact with DNA in a non-intercalative mode. All the results indicate that the mode of action of the dinuclear complex II is different from that of the mononuclear complex I.

An Oxovanadium(IV) Complex Chelated by Dipyridyl Sulfide

The complex (di-2-pyridyl sulfide-N,N')dichlorooxovanadium(IV), [VOCl 2 (C 10 H 8 N 2 S)], was prepared by the reaction of VCl 3 and sodium 2-mercaptopyridine N-oxide in ethanol solution under an atmosphere of argon. The N atoms of the dipyridyl sulfide ligand and the two chloride ligands coordinate to the oxovanadium(IV) ion, to give a complex with square-pyramidal geometry. THE REACTION OF 2,2′-DIPYRIDYL SULFIDE WITH PHENOL

Abstract The reaction of 2,2′-dipyridyl sulfide with phenol affords 2-pyridinethiol and phenyl 2-pyridyl ether, which is the aromatic ipso substitution in 2,2′-dipyridyl sulfide by the phenoxy group. On the other hand. pyridyl tolyl sulfide is formed by the reaction of phenyl pyridyl ether with toluenethiol.
