Defining margins and emergence profile in vertical preparations: A digital technique.

The application of a digital workflow to the biologically oriented preparation technique (BOPT) is described. The BOPT places prosthesis margins apical to the free gingival margin, promoting natural gingival adaptation and long-term tissue stability. The digital method described here addresses the clinical challenges of impression making and the accurate replication of the emergence profile from the interim to the definitive restoration.

Digital applications are transforming dental practice, from diagnosis to treatment planning. In this context, digital impression-taking is becoming an increasingly prevalent method. This study aimed to evaluate the comfort and efficiency of digital impression-taking compared to classic alginate impressions. Additionally, the study explored the correlation between comfort, dental fear, and the gag reflex. Means and standard deviations were used to describe the data, and paired t-tests compared time and comfort between impression methods. Pearson's and Spearman's correlation coefficients analysed relationships between comfort, dental fear, and the gag reflex. A nonparametric Spearman model further examined the association between discomfort levels in both techniques. Digital impressions in young paediatric patients are more time-efficient and preferred over classic alginate impressions. Both observed and self-reported comfort are greater with digital impressions, and patient discomfort is strongly correlated with dental fear.

The Woven Domes of Isfahan: A Digital-Age Investigation of Medieval Iranian Brickwork

This article presents digital drafting techniques to reveal encoded ratios underlying the eleventh- and twelfth-century brick compositions at the Great Mosque of Isfahan. I use this evidence to argue that the skill of conceptual subitizing (the mental manipulation of quantities) enabled craftspeople to translate and alter designs into varying scales and contexts. A reinforcing process of sustained use and appreciation cemented these designs in the visual repertoire of medieval Isfahan, led to a hierarchy of their use, and opened a path to symbolic interpretations. While a lack of textual commentary on the Great Mosque’s many renovations has hitherto proved a barrier to interpretation, digital modes of processing and interpreting offer insights into areas the written word cannot. This conveys knowledge essential to reevaluating how signification and meaning were constructed in the medieval Islamic world.

Examining The Development of Classroom Assessment Competencies among Pre-Service Teachers: Focus Areas for Universities of Education

With the rapid advancement of digital technology and particularly artificial intelligence in education, technology-driven teaching and assessment methods are evolving at an unprecedented pace. To keep up with these developments, there is an urgent need to update classroom assessment competencies. The effective development of these competencies should begin with the training provided to students at teacher education institutions. This study employs a proposed measurement scale consisting of four competency domains: Assessment content knowledge (K); Classroom assessment practice skills (P); ICT and digital techniques in educational assessment (I); Ethics (E), to evaluate the classroom assessment competencies of 548 pre-service teachers. The findings revealed significant gaps in the assessment competencies of prospective teachers, particularly in the domains of classroom assessment practice skills and the use of ICT in assessment. These insights provide a strong foundation for recommending improvements to teacher education programs and policies, aiming to better prepare teacher students with essential skills required for effective classroom assessment in the digital age.

Exploring the Digital Physique: Human Figures in New Media Art

Background:Human figure forms have remained one of the most enduring image elements for visual artists since the era of early human civilization. Across time and regions, artists have explored a wide range of approaches to representing the human form—from absolute realism to stylized, analytical, distorted, surreal, or expressionist tendencies. With the advent of electronic image processing technologies in the 1960s, a new medium of artistic expression emerged, and human figures naturally became integral to video art and experimental film practices. Figurative representation persisted as a key concern, even as abstraction gained popularity. Purpose:This article aims to examine the ongoing use and transformation of human figures in contemporary figurative new media art, with a focus on how technological advancements have expanded the possibilities of representation. Methods:The study traces the shift from analogue to digital video production and analyzes how artists manipulate human figures through lens-based media, digital effects, and 3D graphics software. The discussion is framed through both a critical overview and the author's own practice as a new media artist. Results:Contemporary artists employ a wide range of digital techniques to create human figure imagery, from realistic renderings to highly stylized or surreal digital constructs. These approaches reflect not only technical innovation but also conceptual diversity in how the body is perceived and represented in the digital age. Conclusion:Figurative representation in new media art continues to evolve, offering new visual languages and meanings. As an artist working within this domain, the author explores this diversity to better understand the broader landscape of human figure use in contemporary digital art practices.

However, the company faces significant challenges, including the potential impact of rising prices on its value proposition, complexities in franchise management, and inherent risks within its extensive supply chain. Concurrently, globalization initiatives and the adoption of digital marketing techniques present new avenues for growth and market penetration. Moving forward, Mixue Ice Cream & Tea must prioritize the optimization of its operational management and bolster its innovative capabilities to effectively navigate the intensifying competitive landscape and sustain its current growth trajectory.

Dynamic antenna clustering along with low RF complexity digital beamforming

This paper presents a digital beamforming technique with low radio frequency (RF) complexity that can preserve antenna weights between the antenna aperture and the digital baseband processing unit. Each antenna subarray connects a separate RF chain and it can only transmit one data stream. The RF chain is made to keep the beamforming weights of subarray antenna elements in a TDM fashion. In this paper, two dynamic clustering algorithms are proposed. Using the first algorithm, the actual number of required RF chains can be identified. By using the second algorithm, it is possible to comprehend the antennas in each subarray for a specific number of RF chains. RF circuit designers can utilize the proposal from this paper to determine the exact number of RF chains in a given scenario and the corresponding digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) and its associated components. Our findings show that, with a much lower RF complexity, the suggested digital beamforming scheme can successfully deliver almost the same spectral efficiency as a full-complexity DBF system.

Exploring the Development and Future Directions of Facial Bone Contouring: A Bibliometric and Visualization Analysis From 2005 to 2025.

The study aims to evaluate the global research landscape of facial bone contouring to identify current hotspots and future research directions. Data were extracted from Web of Science Core Collection and analyzed using VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and ArcGIS for bibliometric visualization, including annual publication trends, journals, authors, institutions, countries, and keywords. This bibliometric analysis examined 936 publications (2005-2025), showing consistent growth in publications. Journal of Craniofacial Surgery contributed the highest publication volume, while Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery exhibited the highest citation impact per article. China led in publication volume, followed by the US and South Korea. The top 5 research institutions were concentrated in China and South Korea, with Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College ranking first. Among authors, Gui Lai is the most productive, whereas Hu Jing received the highest citations per article. Keyword timezone analysis revealed 3 distinct research phases: technical foundation (2005-2011), technical refinement (2012-2017), and digitalization and interdisciplinary integration (2018-present). Facial bone contouring has become an increasingly popular area in plastic surgery. Bibliometric analysis reveals China, the US, and South Korea as the predominant contributors to this field. Current research hotspots include digital surgical techniques and facial gender-affirming surgery, while future directions should emphasize long-term outcome studies, international multicenter collaborations, and the integration of artificial intelligence with advanced biomaterials to drive innovation in surgical techniques and outcomes.

PurposeConventional high-speed railways (HSR) subgrade design methods remain constrained by platform-dependent drafting systems, leading to data interaction hindrances and redundant design processes. This study strives to develop a digital earthwork design methodology that enhances design while reducing collaborative expenses.Design/methodology/approachA novel digital subgrade design approach, utilizing sophisticated analysis and modeling tools customized for different subgrade elements, is put forward in this study. The methodology incorporates the following essential steps: (1) the advancement of digital analysis and modeling techniques for diverse subgrade components, including surfaces, filling, slopes, retaining structures, and foundation treatments; (2) the formulation of a digital design principle repository incorporating various slope protection combinations; (3) the establishment of a comprehensive digital design framework and process for subgrade cross-sections; and (4) the development and implementation of an open-source digital design system.FindingsThe proposed method liberates subgrade design from the constraints of conventional drawing platforms, elevating efficiency, intelligence, and flexibility. The open software architecture and code have achieved over 60% efficiency gains in design workflows during its deployment on three major high-speed rail projects: the Baotou-Yinchuan HSR corridor, Shenyang-Baihe HSR network, and Weifang-Yantai HSR system.Originality/valueThis paper introduces an innovative digital design methodology that enables modular and parametric design for railway subgrade sections. The proposed approach provides a digital base for the intelligent design and maintenance of the next-generation high-speed railway.

Navigating digital accounting techniques to improve the financial reporting quality of small and medium-sized enterprises in Nigeria

This study examined at how digital accounting techniques improves the financial reporting quality of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria. Structured questionnaires were used to gather primary data from 2,100 digital accountants and computer expert using a quantitative approach. The association between digital accounting and the quality of financial reporting was assessed using statistical techniques such as multiple regression models, analysis of variance (ANOVA), mean, and standard deviation. The findings revealed that 89.6% of respondents agreed that digital accounting greatly improves the timeliness, correctness, and dependability of financial reports. The results of the regression show that automation and integrated data analytics have a favorable impact in enhancing the financial reporting quality, which is consistent with other research highlighting the importance of digitization in contemporary accounting procedures. The study however advocated for strategic investments in digital infrastructure, ongoing training, and government incentives to accelerate digital transformation in Nigeria's financial reporting landscape. The findings served as a foundation for further research exploring advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and block-chain in accounting practices. Despite obstacles like initial investment costs and cyber-security concerns, the study emphasized the necessity for SMEs to adopt digital accounting solutions to improve efficiency and compliance with international financial reporting standards.
