Empowerment of Precise Ideological and Political Education in Higher Education with Educational Digitalization

The study explores how educational digitalization enables the precise development of ideological and political education in colleges and universities. Digital transformation enables colleges and universities to accurately define educational objectives, content strategies, effect evaluation, and process management, and realize the precision and intelligence of ideological and political education. The application of big data technology enhances the data-oriented thinking of teachers and students, promotes the accurate application of data, and improves the efficiency of ideological and political education. The research also prospected a new vision of the digital construction of ideological and political courses and clarified the theoretical and practical path of the implementation and evaluation mode of ideological and political courses under digital empowerment. Education digitalization enables precise ideological and political education, which is a key way to promote the innovative development of ideological and political education in colleges and universities and will strongly support the improvement of the overall quality of higher education and the training of excellent talents.

Recent Development in Intelligent Compaction for Asphalt Pavement Construction: Leveraging Smart Sensors and Machine Learning.

Intelligent compaction (IC) has emerged as a breakthrough technology that utilizes advanced sensing, data transmission, and control systems to optimize asphalt pavement compaction quality and efficiency. However, accurate assessment of compaction status remains challenging under real construction conditions. This paper reviewed recent progress and applications of smart sensors and machine learning (ML) to address existing limitations in IC. The principles and components of various advanced sensors deployed in IC systems were introduced, including SmartRock, fiber Bragg grating, and integrated circuit piezoelectric acceleration sensors. Case studies on utilizing these sensors for particle behavior monitoring, strain measurement, and impact data collection were reviewed. Meanwhile, common ML algorithms including regression, classification, clustering, and artificial neural networks were discussed. Practical examples of applying ML to estimate mechanical properties, evaluate overall compaction quality, and predict soil firmness through supervised and unsupervised models were examined. Results indicated smart sensors have enhanced compaction monitoring capabilities but require robustness improvements. ML provides a data-driven approach to complement traditional empirical methods but necessitates extensive field validation. Potential integration with digital construction technologies such as building information modeling and augmented reality was also explored. In conclusion, leveraging emerging sensing and artificial intelligence presents opportunities to optimize the IC process and address key challenges. However, cooperation across disciplines will be vital to test and refine technologies under real-world conditions. This study serves to advance understanding and highlight priority areas for future research toward the realization of IC's full potential.

Construction Safety Risk Assessment of High-Pile Wharf: A Case Study in China

The complexity of the wharf components and the harshness of the offshore construction environment increase the safety risk of hazards, which has highlighted the importance and urgency of safety risk management in high-pile wharf constructions. This paper established a visualized digital construction safety risk model for high-pile wharf based on a so-called FAHP method (the combination of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE) and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) methods). The construction safety risk indicators were constructed as the target layer, the principle layer and the scheme layer, and then the corresponding safety risk assessment algorithm was established. The physical, functional and safety risk assessment parameters of the component in the BIM model were employed to the safety risk assessment algorithm, and the risk assessment level of each sub-process was subsequently classified. The case study indicated that the high-pile wharf construction project included five elements in principle layer and 15 risk indicators in the scheme layer. Moreover, it was demonstrated that the sub-processes with the highest construction risk level were steel pipe pile sinking in wharf construction and steel pipe pile, steel sheath-immersed pile sinking and embedded rock pile construction in approaches to bridge construction with a risk level of III. In this way, the quantitative visualization of the construction safety risk was effectively realized, which facilitates the safety risk management of construction sites and timely warning and response to unexpected safety accidents.

Integrating Drone Imagery and AI for Improved Construction Site Management through Building Information Modeling

In the rapidly advancing field of construction, digital site management and Building Information Modeling (BIM) are pivotal. This study explores the integration of drone imagery into the digital construction site management process, aiming to create BIM models with enhanced object recognition capabilities. Initially, the research sought to achieve photorealistic rendering of point cloud models (PCMs) using blur/sharpen filters and generative adversarial network (GAN) models. However, these techniques did not fully meet the desired outcomes for photorealistic rendering. The research then shifted to investigating additional methods, such as fine-tuning object recognition algorithms with real-world datasets, to improve object recognition accuracy. The study’s findings present a nuanced understanding of the limitations and potential pathways for achieving photorealistic rendering in PCM, underscoring the complexity of the task and laying the groundwork for future innovations in this area. Although the study faced challenges in attaining the original goal of photorealistic rendering for object detection, it contributes valuable insights that may inform future research and technological development in digital construction site management.

MAIN PROBLEMS OF DIGITALISATION OF CONSTRUCTION WORKS. SOLUTION WAYS

The article aims to study construction works, the specificity of which is a rather long cycle of turnover of funds. In this regard, the authors researched the performance of geodetic works at all three stages of construction: breakdown, provision of geometric parameters of constructions, control measurements, and executive surveying. We analysed information on using the latest technologies in construction activities and their subtypes. We paid considerable attention to the implementation of modern technologies and approaches. The authors considered such a solution as a ‘digital double’ of the building, which can update the BIM model with real-time data, improving both the construction process and the decision-making. We proposed digital technologies that make it possible to provide a theoretical basis for modelling, forecasting, and control. Thanks to the suggested approach to creating an electronic version of a digital plan, the need for paper media automatically disappears. Also, the transition to a digital form entails a shift to a new level of graphic accuracy. The key indicators of modern construction are modern design systems, which include spatial design and the creation of virtual models and geo-information systems that provide a rational choice of construction sites, optimisation of design and construction, and effective use of resources. The authors also raised a question regarding the outdated regulatory framework. Unfortunately, the main regulatory framework remained at the level of the 80s of the last century. The national regulatory framework is in a difficult situation; the regulatory documents of the former Soviet Union are outdated. It is necessary to update these documents, but the issue of copyright arises here, whereas creating a new regulatory framework requires resources and time. Therefore, it is impossible to utilise all the resources of the measuring equipment. As a result of the research, the authors proposed new approaches to monitoring construction accuracy and creating an electronic version of the tablet during geodetic surveying. The article’s relevance lies in implementing technological progress with the help of digitisation of the entire construction life cycle. Research on the Restrictive Factors and Strategies for Improving the Teaching Ability of University Teachers under the Background of Education Digitization

Education digitization deeply integrates modern information technology with education, innovates the traditional teaching mode of universities, and makes higher education glow with new vitality. At present, the digital transformation of higher education has become a research focus of higher education reform. Therefore, the digital teaching ability of university teachers has become an indispensable force. It is not only conducive to the construction of college teachers but also conducive to the improvement of university teaching quality, which is a key factor related to the quality of higher talent training in the new era. Therefore, whether university teachers can adapt to the development of digitalization and how to improve their digitalized teaching ability are worthy of attention. Based on this research background, this paper tries to summarize the new requirements of digital transformation of education for teachers' teaching ability by reading relevant literature of the Ministry of Education and taking TPACK theory as guidance. Then, combined with the existing investigation and research results, using case analysis and comparative research, this paper summarizes and analyzes the constraints that affect the development of teachers' abilities from both internal and external aspects of teachers. Finally, based on the analysis of the constraints, suggestions are put forward from the perspectives of teachers' teaching cognition, teaching behavior, school training organization, evaluation system, and digital construction.

Synergies between digital construction technologies in smart buildings and smart city development to meet building users’ expectations

In smart buildings, digital construction technologies can support more efficient management of data and information related to building components. This paper aims to draw a robust linking mechanism between digital construction technologies that support smart buildings and smart city development to satisfy building users' expectations. Data was attained using a qualitative approach via secondary data from literature and primary data in the context of case study with building users. The study suggests the importance of recognising single/multi-purposed data to support better synergy between digital construction technologies and in smart buildings and smart city development to satisfy building users’ expectations.

Innovative Point Cloud Segmentation of 3D Light Steel Framing System through Synthetic BIM and Mixed Reality Data: Advancing Construction Monitoring

In recent years, mixed reality (MR) technology has gained popularity in construction management due to its real-time visualisation capability to facilitate on-site decision-making tasks. The semantic segmentation of building components provides an attractive solution towards digital construction monitoring, reducing workloads through automation techniques. Nevertheless, data shortages remain an issue in maximizing the performance potential of deep learning segmentation methods. The primary aim of this study is to address this issue through synthetic data generation using Building Information Modelling (BIM) models. This study presents a point-cloud-based deep learning segmentation approach to a 3D light steel framing (LSF) system through synthetic BIM models and as-built data captured using MR headsets. A standardisation workflow between BIM and MR models was introduced to enable seamless data exchange across both domains. A total of five different experiments were set up to identify the benefits of synthetic BIM data in supplementing actual as-built data for model training. The results showed that the average testing accuracy using solely as-built data stood at 82.88%. Meanwhile, the introduction of synthetic BIM data into the training dataset led to an improved testing accuracy of 86.15%. A hybrid dataset also enabled the model to segment both the BIM and as-built data captured using an MR headset at an average accuracy of 79.55%. These findings indicate that synthetic BIM data have the potential to supplement actual data, reducing the costs associated with data acquisition. In addition, this study demonstrates that deep learning has the potential to automate construction monitoring tasks, aiding in the digitization of the construction industry.

A Study of Deployable Structures Based on Nature Inspired Curved-Crease Folding.

Fascinating 3D shapes arise when a thin planar sheet is folded without stretching, tearing or cutting. The elegance amplifies when the fold/crease is changed from a straight line to a curve, due to the association of plastic deformation via folding and elastic deformation via bending. This results in the curved crease working as a hinge support providing deployability to the surface which is of significant interest in industrial engineering and architectural design. Consequently, finding a stable form of curved crease becomes pivotal in the development of deployable structures. This work proposes a novel way to evaluate such curves by taking inspiration from biomimicry. For this purpose, growth mechanism in plants was observed and an analogous model was developed to create a discrete curve of fold. A parametric model was developed for digital construction of the folded models. Test cases were formulated to compare the behavior of different folded models under various loading conditions. A simplified way to visualize the obtained results is proposed using visual programming tools. The models were further translated into physical prototypes with the aid of 3D printing, hybrid and cured-composite systems, where different mechanisms were adopted to achieve the folds. The prototypes were further tested under constrained boundary and compressive loading conditions, with results validating the analytical model.

Combined printable and mechanical analysis of 3D-printed green high-strength, lightweight engineered cementitious composites

This study used a novel eco-friendly lightweight sand fine (LSF) to prepare green lightweight and high-strength ECC (GLH-ECC) for 3D printing. Orthogonal design, analysis of variance, and analytic hierarchy process were first employed to explore the influence of water-to-binder ratio (WBR), LSF replacement rate (LRR), and fiber volume content (FVC) on the printability of ECC fresh mortar. The influence degree of three factors on the fluidity, consistency, and setting time of fresh ECC was FVC >WBR >LRR, LRR> FVC > WBR, and WBR> LRR >FVC, respectively. Besides, the scopes of fluidity, consistency, and setting time for ensuring the favorable printability of fresh GLH-ECC were 172–183 mm, 7.4–8.0 cm, and 5.3–5.9 h, respectively. A novel mechanistic parametric model was developed to establish a direct correlation between the fluidity, consistency, setting time, and buildability of GLH-ECC. Additionally, higher effective fiber content along the direction of printing and incorporated LSF in printable GLH-ECC provided more appropriate interfacial bonding between the fiber and matrix and resultant better fiber bridging ability, in contrast to the casting ECC. Moreover, the fiber orientation in the printable GLH-ECC tended to be arranged along the direction of printing, and the well-organized fiber orientation and more matrix pores in the interlayer interface of printable GLH-ECC led to the notable anisotropy of mechanical properties. This study inspires applications of 3D-printed GLH-ECC in digital construction without reinforcement in terms of excellent printability, impressive mechanical properties, light weight, and effective waste utilization.

Understanding and modeling the plastic deformation of 3D printed concrete based on viscoelastic creep behavior

3D printing concrete (3DPC) is susceptible to plastic deformation, for example, plastic shrinkage and plastic settlement, due to the absence of formwork. Monitoring and determining plastic deformation of 3DPC in large-scale construction remain challenging. In this study, we developed an analytical modeling method for predicting plastic deformation based on the creep behavior of 3DPC. A new creep model with high fitting accuracy was proposed for capturing creep characteristics over different resting time and applied stress level. Feasible acquisition of model parameters was achieved by correlating creep test results with UUCT (unconfined uniaxial compressive test) results. A multi-parameter modeling procedure based on superposition principle was then developed, and further validated by experimental results. This research may contribute to a better understanding and assessment of the plastic deformation of 3DPC in digital construction.

Can digital construction policy promote enterprise green innovation? A quasinatural experiment based on broadband China

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to explore how digital construction policy (DCP) drives enterprise green innovation (EGI) from an information processing theory (IPT) perspective, including the mediating mechanisms of market information accessibility and operational risk, the moderating role of intellectual property protection (IPP) and product market competition (PMC) and the heterogeneous effects of ownership, Internet development and managerial ability.Design/methodology/approachBased on the matched panel data of A-share listed enterprises from 2011 to 2019 and the Broadband China policy as a quasinatural experiment, this study investigates the impact of DCP on EGI by constructing a multi-time point difference-indifferences (DID) model.FindingsDigital construction policies can significantly promote EGI. DCP works in two fundamental ways, namely by increasing market information accessibility and reducing operational risk. IPP and PMC significantly increased the contribution of digital construction policies to EGI. Heterogeneity analysis found that digital technology has a stronger promotion effect for SOEs, high-managerial-ability enterprises and enterprises in regions with low Internet development levels.Practical implicationsThe study provides new insights about the antecedents of EGI from a DCP perspective. It also enlightens emerging economies to actualize green innovation under the digital wave.Originality/valueFrom the perspective of IPT, this study explains the mechanism of DCP-driven EGI. It enhances understanding of the relationship between DCP and EGI.

Does Urban Digital Construction Promote Economic Growth? Evidence from China

In order to explore the causal relationship between the level of urban digital construction and urban economic growth, this paper takes 280 cities in China as the research object and constructs a comprehensive indicator evaluation system covering digital infrastructure, overall economic level, innovation development level, digital industry development status, and ecological environment conditions. Using the entropy method to weigh various indicators, this paper has obtained the evaluation results of the digital construction level of each city from 2011 to 2021. Furthermore, a panel data regression model is used to empirically analyze the impact of urban digital construction level on urban economic growth. The results show that for every 1% increase in the level of urban digital construction, the GDP will increase by 0.974. Through the above research, we hope to further enrich the theoretical and empirical research in the field of the digital economy, provide a scientific and reasonable method for quantitatively evaluating the level of urban digital construction, and provide decision-making references for improving the level of urban digital construction and promoting sustainable urban development.

Blockchain technology concerns and corporate financial risk prevention—A quasi-natural experiment for Chinese listed A-share companies

The rapid development of blockchain technology (BT) has gained widespread attention from all sectors of society. In order to remain competitive, enterprises have responded positively to this research and development, which is conducive to the enhancement of their own digital construction. BT can provide technical support for companies to strengthen their internal management and reduce business risks caused by information asymmetry. However, the ability to reduce enterprise financial risk effectively depends on the breadth and depth of BT concerns. This study constructs word-frequency statistical variables of BT concerns based on the annual report data of listed companies. It conducts an empirical study on the issue of BT concerns affecting corporate financial risk prevention and regulation based on a propensity score matching difference-in-difference model. The results show that: (1) Attention to BT significantly reduces corporate financial risk (2) In terms of the mechanism effect, Attention to BT can significantly reduce corporate financial risk by optimizing accounts receivable management, enhancing debt servicing ability, and improving corporate performance. (3) The heterogeneity analysis shows that the concern of BT in reducing financial risk is even more significant for enterprises whose social responsibility is not effectively regulated and for hybrid enterprises. This study enriches the literature on the mechanism of BT to enterprise financial risk and provides a reference for both enterprise-level blockchain concerns and strengthening enterprise financial risk management.

Implementation Building Information Modelling For Construction Projects In Remote and Challenging Locations

This research discusses the innovative implementation of digitalization of infrastructure construction based on Building Information Modelling (BIM) 5D on the Toapejat - Rokot - Sioban Road and Bridge Handling Project (Simp. Logpon) in the Mentawai Islands. The focus is a collection of AEC software from Autodesk, including Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, and BIM 360, which supports the project's BIM goals. This method is proven to provide a holistic approach to planning, design, construction, and management of infrastructure projects. In the face of growing competition and innovation of BIM technology, this study emphasizes the need for continuous innovation for construction companies to participate in the development of digital construction technology. The project is considered a clear example of BIM's crucial role in overcoming construction challenges in remote areas, unlocking potential for future projects on isolated islands.

Challenges to adopt digital construction technologies in the Jordanian construction industry

Purpose This study aims to examine the challenges facing the construction industry practitioners toward adopting digital construction technologies in the Jordanian construction industry. Design/methodology/approach Quantitative methods were used by reviewing the related literature to include 16 challenges that face the Jordanian construction industry in adopting digital construction. A questionnaire was used to achieve the desired study objectives for 373 respondents from various institutions and companies. The questionnaire was analyzed with SPSS using statistical tests such as mean score, Kruskal–Wallis H test and factor analysis. Findings After collecting the quantitative data, the study showed that the most challenges facing construction industry practitioners toward adopting digital construction techniques are lack of qualified workers, high requirement for computing equipment’s, high initial cost of bringing these technologies to the market and construction firms low investment in research and development. These challenges faced by respondents were divided into three main factors, namely, construction’s nature, financial constraints and poor management support. Originality/value This study provides information and statistics on the challenges that face individuals or companies toward adopting digital construction techniques in Jordan. It proposes recommendations and proper practical implantation strategies to overcome the challenges.

The main aspects of the digital economy impact on the construction industry

Digital economy is developing rapidly and has a deep degree of influence on the national economy sectors as a whole, including the construction industry. Based on the fact that the digital economy contributes to large-scale changes in methods, management, lifestyle and is a key force in the reorganization of global elements and resources, the article analyzes current trends in implementation, ways and problems of digital transformation of the construction industry that arose in the period 2022–2023. Considering that one of the most important development goals of the construction industry digital transformation is the implementation of industrial intelligence, digital innovations have a significant impact on the business development speed, open up opportunities for continuous improvement of business processes. The article outlines the current trends in the digital transformation of the construction industry of the Russian Federation, methods of their implementation, their interrelation, problems, possible directions and applications. Along with the theoretical analysis practical introduction aspects of digital transformation trends in the construction industry of the Russian Federation are demonstrated. To achieve a technological breakthrough, recommendations are proposed for the transformation of the construction industry, considering the use of digital construction, digital architecture, and intelligent systems. The main impact aspects of the digital economy on the construction industry are formulated. The fact that the transformation of the construction industry in the era of the digital economy needs a deep adaptation to new technological processes indicates the relevance of research in this direction.

Analysis of Value Implications, Realistic Dilemmas and Breakthrough Paths of China's Public Cultural Service Construction in the Context of Digitization

In the context of digitalization, the construction of public cultural services in China is of great significance. It is an inevitable choice to promote the development of an information-based society and an important force to meet the cultural needs of the masses. In recent years, the digitization construction of China's public cultural services has made remarkable progress. However, in this process, there are still some constraints: a low level of legal protection services, a low level of platform co-construction and sharing, an obvious singularity of the main body of resource supply, and a need to improve governance capacity. In order to promote the high-quality development of the digitalization of public cultural services, we should focus on overall awareness and strengthen the construction of the digital legal system, platforms, resources and governance capacity, so as to give full play to its role in the provision of public cultural services and the satisfaction of people's spiritual and cultural needs.
