Abstract The research on the role of public mental health in the course quality of English teaching directly affects the development of students’ future psychological status. Some researches show that the contents of mental health education mainly include the improvement of psychological quality, the prevention of psychological crisis, the development of intellectual and non-intellectual education, the cultivation of interpersonal adaptability and environmental adaptability, the education of public mental health concept, and the treatment of general psychological problems. Public mental health needs to carry out mental health education, among which the popularization of health concept is particularly important, which is one of the important reasons to maintain mental health. Mental health education is an activity that needs to be carried out, which requires the media to organize the activities, and people can gain correct mental health guidance in the activities. The concept of mental health has developed from the initial small psychological counseling of 5-25 people to the relatively large group psychological counseling, and then to the rapid development of science and technology today. As one of the important carriers of mental health education, network assessment, WeChat public account and micro-blog platform have become the most important new carriers for schools to carry out psychological counseling and students to carry out mental health education. In this context, according to the requirements of the Guidelines for Ideological and Political Work of the Ministry of Education and in light of their own actual situation, colleges and universities have formulated relevant documents such as the Guidelines for the Teaching of Ideological and Political Theory Courses of the Ministry of Education and the Monitoring Scale for the Mental Health of Chinese Students, and established a real-time early warning system for students’ mental health through the network evaluation system. Help each other with mental health education carried out by schools. Many schools do not pay attention to the development of the concept of school mental health, for example, they only talk about theory but not practice, ignore the cultivation of teachers’ professional quality, and lack a systematic and scientific evaluation system. At present, college students generally have different degrees of psychological barriers. Psychological crisis, as one of the important factors affecting the quality of courses, has become the main reason for the damage of college students’ mental health after some extreme events or social phenomena. With the rapid development of society, especially in the Internet, there are many fancy contents, and the competition between students’ studies is becoming more and more intense, which affects students more and more, resulting in more and more students having different degrees of psychological problems, and even suicide or homicide incidents, which bring great harm to schools. Mental health education in colleges and universities is one of the important means to prevent and alleviate students’ psychological crisis, and its goal is to cultivate talents with good psychological quality and healthy psychological quality. Under this background, how to integrate the existing mental health education resources in colleges and universities and develop new educational carriers, so as to make up for the deficiency of traditional mental health education carriers. For students, it is very meaningful to understand and learn the relevant knowledge of public mental health education in the teaching process.
