Spatial Arrangement between Relocation and Change of River Flow to The Jragung Border Settlement
  • Jan 23, 2026
  • Law Research Review Quarterly
  • Rahma Alia + 1 more

This study analyzes community organizations located in the buffer zone of the Jragung River in Demak Regency, which is legally a protected area under Indonesian spatial planning and water management regulations. The primary issue discussed is the continued presence of these organizations in the river boundary area despite clear laws, specifically those stipulated in Demak Regency Regulation Number 6 of 2011, Article 83 paragraph (3), which prohibits development within the river buffer zone, and Law Number 1 of 2011, Article 140, which restricts housing development outside the designated community organization area. These regulations stipulate a minimum distance of five meters from river embankments in areas outside the urban zone. This study aims to explore solutions to these problems. It uses an empirical legal method with a descriptive approach. The legal analysis focuses on the laws and regional regulations governing the river buffer zone, while empirical data is obtained through field observations and interviews with residents living along the Jragung River. Findings indicate that organizations in the river buffer zone developed gradually due to inherited land ownership, economic constraints, strong social continuity with the settlement, and weak government oversight and legal dissemination. While relocation provides hydrological and ecological benefits, it also poses significant social and economic challenges for affected communities. In contrast, river engineering measures, such as river channel straightening and embankment construction, are considered more feasible in the study area because they reduce disaster risk without causing significant social disruption.

Study of Legal and Technical Aspect on Sedimentation Management in Indonesia Seas
  • Jan 15, 2026
  • Journal of Social Research
  • Muhammad Ilman Hadiid + 4 more

Dredging and marine sand export activities in Indonesia have raised concerns about their impacts on marine environmental quality and regulatory certainty in sedimentation management. This study examines the legal and technical aspects of marine sedimentation management policies, focusing on the implementation of Government Regulation No. 26 of 2023 on Marine Sedimentation Management and Government Regulation No. 31 of 2021 on Shipping. The legal review evaluates the coherence of these regulations with higher legal frameworks, including Law No. 32 of 2014 on Marine Affairs, the Job Creation Law, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982), and international standards from the Oslo-Paris (OSPAR) Convention. The analysis reveals that PP 26/2023 and PP 31/2021 still exhibit vertical inconsistencies, overlapping institutional mandates, and limited alignment with international marine governance principles. Technically, this study analyzes changes in water turbidity using Sentinel-2 satellite imagery and the Normalized Difference Turbidity Index (NDTI) across four priority areas: Pulau Karimun Besar, Demak Regency, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, and Surabaya City. The findings indicate a strong, statistically significant correlation between NDTI values and marine sand export volume in Pulau Karimun Besar (r = 0.99; p = 0.0005), while other locations show weaker, non-significant correlations. These results highlight the need to integrate legal reform with spatially informed technical monitoring to enhance sustainable sedimentation management in Indonesia’s coastal waters.

  • Jurnal Abdimas
  • Sungkowo Sungkowo + 7 more

Tension and stress during competition often lead to changes in psychological functioning, such as reduced concentration, loss of focus, increased anxiety, or, from a somatic perspective, increased muscle tension. Mental health can be affected by tension, which is seen as a result of physical interactions. Self-talk is a "strategy" employed by every athlete, whether verbalized or simply thought. Muscle tension is generally associated with stress, anxiety, and fear, as part of a process that helps our bodies prepare for potentially dangerous situations. The methods used included psychological education on self-talk and progressive muscle relaxation, progressive muscle relaxation practice, discussions, mentoring, and data collection on the athletes' mental health. The results of the community service research, as shown in the table, categorize 11 swimmers based on their mental health: 6 athletes categorized as moderate, and 5 athletes as low. Athletes with moderate mental health are considered to have good emotional, psychological, and social well-being, which influences how a person thinks, feels, and acts, including their ability to cope with the pressures of competition. Conversely, athletes with low mental health are classified as having good mental health.

Mangrove forests are vital coastal ecosystems that protect shorelines and help maintain coastal environmental balance. Mangrove forests undergo changes every year due to degradation or restoration, so monitoring needs to be carried out. This study analyzes the spatiotemporal dynamics of mangrove density in Demak Regency from 2020 to 2025 using Sentinel-2 imagery and the CART (Classification and Regression Tree) algorithm processed through the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform. Six spectral indices were used as classification inputs, namely NDVI, NDWI, MVI, MI, AMMI, and CMRI. AMMI is the best index in identifying mangroves as a whole, both in narrow and large areas. Based on classification, the mangrove cover area has been restored or significantly increased from 1644.011 ha in 2020 to 2530.522 ha in 2025. The largest increase occurred in the high canopy density class of 960.157 ha. Meanwhile, the medium and low canopy density classes showed a decrease in area. Accuracy assesment showed an overall accuracy value of 99.92% for 2020 and 99.91% for 2025, with kappa accuracy above 97% in both years. Ritual, Theology, and Islamic Civilization: The Grebek Besar Tradition in Demak Regency
  • Dec 10, 2025
  • el Harakah: Jurnal Budaya Islam
  • Dita Kurniawati + 4 more

Within the broader history of Islamic civilization in Java, ritual traditions such as Grebek Besar have functioned as key sites for the transmission, reinterpretation, and embodiment of Islamic ethical and theological values. This study examines the cultural and theological dimensions of the Grebek Besar festival in Demak Regency, Central Java, Indonesia, one of the most significant Islamic cultural events in Java. Rooted in the commemoration of Eid al-Adha, the festival embodies a dynamic synthesis between Islamic doctrine and Javanese cultural expression. Previous studies have largely treated Grebek Besar as a folkloric or historical tradition, without adequately examining its lived-theological meanings as articulated by local religious actors and enacted in everyday ritual practices. Using a qualitative ethnographic approach, this study is based on participant observation, in-depth interviews with religious leaders and community elders, and analysis of local archives and manuscripts. The findings are consolidated into a central thematic claim: Grebek Besar functions as a form of lived Islamic theology in which ritual performances, symbolic objects, and communal participation operate as interconnected mechanisms that sustain religious piety, social cohesion, and cultural continuity among Javanese Muslims. The study demonstrates that the festival is not merely a cultural celebration, but a ritualized space of Islamic devotion embedded in local custom. Processions, communal prayers, and food-sharing practices are shown to carry theological meanings that reinforce the community’s relationship with God while affirming collective historical memory and identity. This research makes a specific scholarly contribution by proposing an empirically grounded framework of “lived theology” in Javanese Islam, bridging normative Islamic theological concepts such as syukr and ukhuwah with anthropological analyses of ritual, symbolism, and collective memory, and thereby advancing interdisciplinary approaches to the study of Islam and local religiosity in Indonesia.

  • Dec 1, 2025
  • Jurnal Ilmu Sosial Mamangan
  • Nur Hamid + 4 more

This study addresses the issue of disaster vulnerability in Demak Regency, an area highly exposedto tidal flooding, coastal erosion, and extreme weather. The objective of the research is toformulate a community participation-based disaster education model that strengthenspreparedness and resilience at the local level. Theoretically, the study draws on disaster riskreduction frameworks emphasizing community empowerment, participatory education, andintegration of local wisdom. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitativeZ-score analysis of disaster data from 2020–2022 with qualitative thematic analysis using NVivoto assess literature, policy documents, and community practices. The results reveal that disasterhazards in Demak are spatially varied: Sayung District is categorized as high-hazard, Guntur asmedium, while twelve other sub-districts fall into the low category. These findings highlight thenecessity of contextualized disaster education tailored to specific local hazards. The proposedmodel integrates schools, communities, and cultural traditions to enhance disaster literacy, fostersocial cohesion, and improve adaptive capacity. The conclusion emphasizes that a participatory,location-specific education framework is more effective than uniform approaches and can bereplicated in other disaster-prone regions. The novelty of this study lies in combining empiricalhazard mapping with community participation principles to design a disaster education modelthat is both data-driven and socially embedded, thereby bridging gaps between statistical riskassessment and local educational practice.

Resilience of Coastal Areas in Facing Tidal Disasters: A Study in Bedono Village, Demak
  • Nov 3, 2025
  • KnE Social Sciences
  • Sigit Lesmonojati + 2 more

Indonesia as an archipelago with the second longest coastline in the world is very vulnerable to coastal disasters, one of which is tidal flooding caused by sea level rise. This research examines the community’s adaptation strategy in facing tidal floods and its impact on regional resilience, with a focus on Bedono Village, Sayung Subdistrict, Demak Regency. This research used descriptive qualitative methods through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study. The results showed that tidal floods have changed the physical, economic, social, and environmental conditions of the community, triggering vulnerability and reducing regional resilience. Adaptation strategies carried out by the community include physical adaptation (modification of houses and infrastructure), economic (change of profession), and social (adjustment of social activities and education). However, these adaptations are still limited due to low community capacity and lack of government support. The main constraints faced are the increasing intensity of tidal flooding, low strategic value of the village, limited local government budget, and lack of infrastructure. Tidal flooding has negatively impacted five of the eight dimensions of regional resilience, namely geography, natural resources, demography, economy, and socio-culture. However, the ideological, political, and security dimensions remain stable. This research emphasizes the importance of cross-sectoral support and long-term policies to strengthen the resilience of disaster-affected coastal areas.
