The possibility of producing large quantities of iodine isotopes of high purity in internal and external targets of a CV-28 cyclotron in reactions on protons and deuterons is studied. The advantage of using low-energy cyclotrons for such purposes is examined. It is shown that the use of a special technology for preparing targets from tellurium and a method of removing the heat released at a target irradiated by a proton beam will make it possible to produce in the CV-28 a large quantity of iodine isotopes in a relatively short time 1–2 h.
