ИСПОЛЬЗОВАНИЕ 3D-МОДЕЛЕЙ ПРИРОДНЫХ ОБЪЕКТОВ КАК СОСТАВЛЯЮЩИЙ СЕГМЕНТ ЦИФРОВОГО ОБРАЗОВАТЕЛЬНОГО ПРОЦЕССА

The article discusses the essence and characteristics of 3D modeling and the features of using 3D models of natural objects in the educational process of higher educational institutions in terms of improving the quality, accessibility and visibility of the material being studied. The goals of education are identified, the solution of which can be achieved through the use of 3D models of natural objects. The forms of creating 3D models based on the materials of photographing natural objects are systematized. The advantages of visualization and the use of three-dimensional models in 3D space from the point of view of the formation of students' spatial thinking are given. The purpose of the study: Substantiation of the introduction of the use of 3D models of natural objects in the development of digital environmental education in the training of specialists in various industries. One of the important directions related to the solution of environmental problems at the present stage is environmental education and upbringing of the younger generation. Environmental education both in the world and in Russia is today considered a priority area for teaching and educating students in higher educational institutions. Particular attention is drawn to the use of the digital segment in the educational process. The introduction of the study of 3D technologies into the main educational process in order to educate a talented young generation of Russian specialists in the field of ecology and other related specialties is a timely and very necessary process. the use of 3D models of natural objects is a current trend in modern digital education. In this case, the use of 3D models of natural objects in the educational process allows both to increase the susceptibility of biological objects for students through visualization and increased visibility, and to make the process of mastering the material more accessible and efficient. Thus, the creation of electronic resources with the inclusion of 3D models of natural objects qualitatively transforms the activities of educational institutions, which will subsequently have a positive impact on the formation of students' professional competencies.

Exploring Informational Needs of Parents of Children with Intestinal Failure: A Thematic Analysis

PurposeInformation seeking has been observed to be important for the coping and empowerment of parents of children with rare diseases. This study was conducted to understand the education needs of families of children with pediatric intestinal failure (IF) and how technology might be effectively leveraged to address these needs. Design and methodsA qualitative methodology using thematic analysis was utilized. Purposeful sampling was adopted to recruit 10 parents/caregivers of children with IF. Participants participated in a 1:1 semi-structured interview. Interviews were recorded, transcribed and themes identified through open and focused coding. ResultsFour themes emerged: (1) reliable electronic or printed information resources relevant to their child's unique needs were lacking; (2) an educational program with in-person and hands-on learning was preferred for transition to home; (3) practical and relatable information was valued over medical knowledge as children's needs evolved; and (4) creation of electronic resources would be useful for information seeking and sharing. ConclusionTo cope with the responsibilities of caring for a child with IF, participants sought information beyond what they received. Participants preferred a blended approach of care team discussions and electronic tools for receiving knowledge and skills. Parents' connections with other caregivers was important for practical day-to-day management information, as well as supporting their well-being. Practice implicationsDevelopment and implementation of accessible digital resources with emphasis on practical information is required. Beyond medical and practical informational needs, building resilience and supporting psychologic needs for parents/caregivers of children with IF emerged as important needs to address.

Database Strategy in Development of Digital Ecosystem for Quality Control in Education

The purpose of this research in educational environment is to improve the quality of the educational process with the help of new information technologies. The paper examines practical issues of digital ecosystems implementation in education on the basis of relational databases, as, from the authors’ point of view, in the organization data are less subject to change in time than business processes. Therefore the strategy of information systems development where the database functions as a cornerstone provides the result, that is more stable than, for example, a functional approach in software development. Within the frames of this research information technologies of quality control in education are being created. They are intended for the exact and full representation of teaching materials as a system used as a source of information for the assessment of learning and teaching materials and creation of electronic resources on this platform. The structure of the created database, operation practices and topical issues of its introduction in more large-scale digital ecosystems are considered. As a result the database ready for use as a management solution for higher education institutions is created. This is important as information technologies provide additional opportunities for the development in the sphere of higher education, quality improvement of the educational process. The authors conclude that introduction of innovative information technologies in management system of higher education institution is relevant and perspective.

ІНТЕГРАЦІЙНІ ПРОЦЕСИ У ДІЯЛЬНОСТІ ОСВІТЯНСЬКИХ БІБЛІОТЕК МОН УКРАЇНИ І НАПН УКРАЇНИ В УМОВАХ ІНФОРМАТИЗАЦІЇ

У статті проаналізовано стан і перспективи формування галузевого сегмента з психолого-педагогічних питань й освіти в інформаційному просторі України й участь у цьому процесі мережі освітянських бібліотек МОН України і НАПН України. Висвітлено ключові поняття щодо формування інформаційного простору держави бібліотеками України, зокрема: інформаційний простір, інтеграція, корпоративність, кооперація, інтегрований галузевий інформаційний ресурс (ІГІР). З’ясовано ефективні інструменти інноваційної діяльності книгозбірень, передусім зі створення електронних ресурсів. Розглянуто результати наукової роботи ДНПБ України ім. В. О. Сухомлинського щодо формування ІГІР спільно з провідними бібліотеками мережі на сучасному етапі. Окреслено перспективи діяльності вищезазначених книгозбірень у цьому напрямі на найближчі роки.

Self-efficacy: Empowering parents of children with cystic fibrosis

Can parent engagement in the development and delivery of educational materials for cystic fibrosis (CF) promote increased self-efficacy and confidence in self-management skills? Standard therapies for a child with CF frequently involve pulmonary treatment, medications, and behavioral and nutritional interventions. Parents report that the prescribed CF care can be overwhelming. Previous research at this pediatric CF Center indicated the parental perception of the difficulty in managing CF-related nutrition therapy. Parents' nutrition knowledge was an initial target of this continuous quality improvement (CQI) project with a long-range aim of increasing children's median body mass index (BMI) percentiles for patients at this pediatric CF center. The local CF Parent Advisory Council, CF parents and staff collaborated on this family-centered CQI project. A CF parent website with weekly email newsletters and a facebook page were developed and evolved with input from parents. Parental feedback was gathered through electronic surveys, written questionnaires, focus groups and informal interviews. A convenience sample of parents participated in pre- and post-intervention surveys to determine change in self-confidence in effectively managing their children's CF treatment regimens. Results were also compared with responses from a larger previous survey. Parental knowledge of nutrition facts and medical nutrition therapy for CF did not increase significantly over the course of the CQI project. Surveyed parents reported increased confidence in their self-management skills. Although mean BMI percentiles have increased at this center, they remain below the national average. Parent-driven educational strategies provide an opportunity to promote reliable CF-related information in parent-preferred formats that enhance self-management skills in caring for children with CF. Parental confidence to follow CF center recommendations increased between 2004 and 2011. Although many factors may impact confidence, parent satisfaction with the creation of electronic resources and engagement in the CQI process were intangible, but important outcomes.

Electronic Publishing at Routledge

This article describes how an independent commercial academic publisher initiated its electronic publishing programme. It outlines the range of electronic activities under development and some of the issues addressed during the creation of electronic resources. Case studies of two early projects are included: a multimedia teaching too, A Right to Die? The Dax Cowart Case; and an SGML textbase, the Arden Shakespeare CD-ROM. In addition, the Routledge Encyclopedia of Philosophy is discussed as an example of the second generation of electronic projects at Routledge, highlighting lessons learned from previous projects and some of the issues relating to the production of a simultaneous print and electronic resource.
