BUILDING A CONCEPT FOR CYBER SECURITY OF AN EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATION IN BULGARIA

Background: The topic of cyber security of organizations is becoming more relevant for modern societies. In that area, both scientific research and practical applications of various platforms, technologies, and tools for guaranteeing security levels have undergone serious development in recent years. The research objective is based on a study of leading literature sources and the accumulated experience in the subject area to propose and approve an adequate model for ensuring cyber security of an educational institution. Methods: Different organizations adopt different approaches and apply different methods to create systemic conditions for ensuring cyber security. The methods used in the research are based on the specifics of the business processes that take place in the organizations. Based on them, the specifics of educational organizations are highlighted, which determine the creation of a relevant concept of cyber security with appropriate technological measures. Results: The concept proposed in the present study is based both on the current legal framework of the European Union and the Republic of Bulgaria, as well as on good practices and approaches in the subject area. The concept has been implemented and the presented results prove its usefulness for the educational organization. The period to which the empirical part of the study refers is 2022-2023. Conclusions: The main results of the study are in the direction of achieved monitoring of the external perimeter of the organization, implemented monitoring of user behaviour, risk management of information assets, and increased cyber security of the organization.

CREATIVITY AND THE DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY: THE CASE FOR CREATIVITY EDUCATION WITHIN DOCTORAL PROGRAMS

Doctoral education is an increasingly prevalent part of the worldwide higher education landscape. Although there are variations in how programs are constructed and delivered, there is general agreement that evidence of creativity is expected in the final thesis. Despite the significant attention the supervisory process has received in the literature, students’ views on creativity as it applies to their candidature have not been extensively explored. This article reports on interviews with a sample of 12 current doctoral students in the areas of the arts, social sciences, and education from the theoretical perspective of the systems model of creativity. Interview participants were invited to reflect on the concept of creativity, and the factors which support or constrain their potential to be creative. The findings reveal that on reflection, students are able to identify the creative elements of their work, however the findings also indicate that creativity education should be given greater focus in doctoral programs, in order to embed this important concept and process to support students’ learning journey.

Not “what”, but “where is creativity?”: towards a relational-materialist approach to generative AI

The recent emergence of generative AI software as viable tools for use in the cultural and creative industries has sparked debates about the potential for “creativity” to be automated and “augmented” by algorithmic machines. Such discussions, however, begin from an ontological position, attempting to define creativity by either falling prey to universalism (i.e. “creativity is X”) or reductionism (i.e. “only humans can be truly creative” or “human creativity will be fully replaced by creative machines”). Furthermore, such an approach evades addressing the real and material impacts of AI on creative labour in these industries. This article thus offers more expansive methodological and conceptual approaches to the recent hype on generative AI. By combining (Csikszentmihalyi, The systems model of creativity, Springer, Dordrecht, 2014) systems view of creativity, in which we emphasise the shift from “what” to “where” is creativity, with (Lievrouw, Media technologies, The MIT Press, 2014) relational-materialist theory of “mediation”, we argue that the study of “creativity” in the context of generative AI must be attentive to the interactions between technologies, practices, and social arrangements. When exploring the relational space between these elements, three core concepts become pertinent: creative labour, automation, and distributed agency. Critiquing “creativity” through these conceptual lenses allows us to re-situate the use of generative AI within discourses of labour in post-industrial capitalism and brings us to a conceptualisation of creativity that privileges neither the human user nor machine algorithm but instead emphasises a relational and distributed form of agency.

CHALLENGES IN CREATIVITY DEFINITION AND MEASUREMENT: EDUCATIONAL IMPLICATIONS

The article examines the complex nature of creativity with the goal to project implications for educational settings, starting from its historical evolution, and the challenges associated with its definition and measurement. The study aims at reviewing the main approaches to defining the concept of creativity with a particular focus on educational settings application. Creativity, once attributed to divine sources, is now recognized as a multifaceted human capacity encompassing cognitive, conative, and environmental factors. The research spans various definitions and assessments, including personality and biographical inventories, behavioral tests, and both objective and subjective evaluations of creative outputs. Creativity theories are highlighted, emphasizing creativity's presence across multiple domains. Despite the plethora of testing methods, the paper critiques the dichotomous view of creativity as simply present or absent, advocating for a nuanced understanding that encompasses its varied degrees and dimensions. The study further stresses the importance of considering individual traits and contextual factors as part of a dynamic interplay that influences creativity. For educators, these findings underscore the need for professional development that addresses the broad scope of creative competencies, encouraging a holistic approach to fostering creativity in students. The paper concludes with recommendations for developing clear operational definitions for creativity that can lead to more consistent and reliable assessments within educational research and practice.

Социальная адаптация иностранных студентов, обучающихся в региональных вузах (на примере Пензенской области)

Internationalization is a key aspect of education export and one of the most promising lines of higher education development. For successfully becoming a member of the host community, a foreign student as an object of research is forced to assimilate and accept new cultural patterns. However, even when entering a new socio-cultural environment under the most favorable conditions, adaptation difficulties and problems usually arise. The purpose of the article is to identify the factors and conditions for the successful adaptation of foreign students in regional universities using the example of the Penza Region’s universities. The research is based on scientific concepts of students’ social adaptation in a university, as well as concepts of an educational environment creation and functioning. The study considers the reasons for choosing Russia as a country of study based on the author’s questionnaire of Penza universities’ foreign students, secondary analysis of sociological research data on similar topics, and analysis of statistical data. The authors discover that foreign students in Russia face difficulties at various levels: linguistic, conceptual, moral, informational, climatic, communicative, pertaining to everyday life, etc. Favorable conditions contribute to increasing the university’s prestige and the education internationalization levels, become an important factor for choosing an educational institution and quickly including foreign students in the educational process.

„Mitu nie zdradzajcie”. Modernistyczna koncepcja tańca w eksperymentach studia „Heptachor”

The Heptachor (Гептахор) studio was a leading early 20 th-century Russian modern dance school committed to a revival of the art of dance and the development of new forms of musical movement and new concepts of artistic creation. In the years 1914–1934, it was the centre of the Musical Movement dance school, experimenting with a wide range of artistic, educational and therapeutic practices. The aim of the article is, first, to present the history of the Heptachor studio on the basis of the recollections and memoirs of its co-founder Stephanida Rudneva, contemporary documents and archive materials, and, second, to analyze the typical creative process narratives included in those sources.

A Style-Oriented Approach to Intelligent Generation of Product Creative Concepts

The challenges posed by flexible limp fabric material handling within automated manufacturing processes are addressed in this paper. With lightweight materials, particularly fiber composites, gaining prominence across industries, the need for effective and precise fabric placements is deemed crucial. Traditional gripping methods are often found to be lacking in addressing the complexities of fabric draping, necessitating innovative solutions. The deformable, delicate, and complex nature of fabric materials, combined with intricate mold surface geometries, presents significant hurdles for achieving wrinkle-free, accurate placements. To overcome these challenges, a compliant gripper approach is proposed. Associating surface geometry analysis with gripper design, the study aims to enhance the efficiency, precision, and adaptability of fabric placement in automated manufacturing settings. The study exploits the deformable robotic gripper concepts. Compliant mechanisms include variants inspired by the Miura-fold origami approach. The facet-based representation and data processing technique used for a mold's surface allows for associations between the design parameters of the compliant grippers and the mold surface geometry. Design guidelines encompass considerations related to geometry, structural integration, surface friction enhancement, and material selection to provide a baseline framework for the interactive design of compliant grippers. Case studies highlight the merits of the approach for different surface geometries and show the potential for compliant mechanisms being employed in flexible component automation.

Influence of Innovation Approach on Competitive Structure of Tier 1 Commercial Banks in Kenya

In today's volatile business landscape, companies must continuously innovate to remain competitive. Innovation, encompassing the creation and implementation of new concepts across products, services, and technologies, is essential for meeting evolving market demands. Both radical and incremental innovation contribute to organizational financial performance (Abiodun, 2017). However, traditional banks often exhibit technological inertia, hindering their ability to adopt new methods efficiently. This reluctance presents an opportunity for challenger banks to pioneer technological advancements, diversify risk management strategies, and optimize resource utilization, leveraging instruments like asset securitization. This study investigates the impact of innovation approaches on the competitive structure of Tier 1 Commercial Banks in Kenya. Employing descriptive and correlational research designs, the study surveyed 182 respondents selected via stratified random sampling from a target population of 334 individuals across Tier 1 Commercial Banks. Quantitative data analysis utilized descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression analysis with SPSS version 26. Findings indicate a positive correlation between innovation and competitive structure, underscoring innovation's significance in sustaining competitive advantage. Technology adoption, including mobile banking and remote service delivery, also enhances competitive structure. Furthermore, the study highlights the contribution of risk diversification through new financial instruments and incremental innovations to financial success. Overall, the research emphasizes the critical role of innovation and technology in driving competitive advantage within the banking industry. It recommends that top management continuously expand their offerings of innovative products to remain competitive.

Exploring Creativity and Extravagance: The Case of Double Suffixation in English

There has been a recent focus in studies of English morphology on the concept of extravagance as applied to word formation, and on the interplay between extravagance and creativity. This article examines this issue, taking as a test case the phenomenon of double suffixation of phrasal verbs. While double-ER suffixation (fixer-upper, helper-outer) has attracted substantial interest in the literature, less has been said about other suffixes. This article provides data that demonstrate that double suffixation occurs with -ERY, -AGE, -EE and -ABLE suffixes. As such, double suffixation can be seen as a genuine word formation template, rather than a phenomenon restricted to a single suffix. Furthermore, examination of the data enables a reflection on the interactions between the concepts of productivity, creativity and extravagance. We propose to see these concepts not just as three overlapping notions, but rather as points on a creativity scale. To underscore the parallels between them, we propose to see them successively as F-creativity, E-creativity and X-creativity.

Some Effects of Sex and Culture on Creativity, No Effect of Incubation

Results remain mixed regarding the effects of incubation tasks on divergent thinking, a type of creativity, generally assessed via the Unusual Uses Task (UUT). Using a within-subjects design, we compared 64 participants’ performance on the UUT, after four different incubation tasks: copy a simple painting, copy a complex painting, 0-back-task, and rest. We hypothesized that an arts-related activity during incubation (here: copy a painting) would boost subsequent creativity. Five different creativity scores were computed from the raw UUT data, and we provide a step-by-step guide for how to compute these: fluency, flexibility, originality, subjective creativity, and usefulness. Creativity was only modulated by sex; women outperformed men on creative fluency. No other variables, nor the incubations, modulated any of participants’ creativity scores. A within-group comparison showed that the unusual uses of our all-Iranian participants were more useful than unique, echoing previous work suggesting differences between Eastern and Western conceptions of creativity.

Creativity, aging, context and culture: Reimagining creativity in everyday life in older adults

Despite increasing interest in creative aging, little connection has been made between creative aging research and research and theory on creativity. In part 1 of this paper, we will explain why 20th century psychological concepts of creativity were inadequate to describe the impact of creative participation for older adults, and how those theories promoted stereotypes of aging. In part 2, we discuss theory and research from gerontologists on why creative activities are important, and how more inclusive theories of creativity can guide researchers in their quest to determine how creative participation can benefit older adults, and the culture at large. Sociocultural theories of creativity highlight the importance of culture and context as essential components of creativity. For example, sociocultural creativity theory argues that the cultural artifacts called crafts deserve to be considered “creative” even if they do not seem particularly novel. Crafts, which are frequently created by older people, especially women, are cultural artifacts or heirlooms that can hold meaning for generations. Sociocultural theory can guide the study of late life creativity to expand the possibilities for meaningful engagement in creativity across the lifespan.

Metabolic syndrome and hyperuricemia: features of patient management (clinical case)

Metabolic syndrome (MS) is a group of interrelated metabolic disorders such as high blood pressure, central obesity, insulin resistance (IR), dyslipidemia. The main mechanisms that indicate a metabolic disorder and contribute to its development are IR and a large amount of circulating free fatty acids. In turn, tissue IR is often combined with other abnormalities including disorders of uric acid metabolism, changes in the hemostasis system, endothelial dysfunction, increased levels of C-reactive protein. At the same time, metabo­lic disorders are a risk factor for hyperuricemia. MS occurs in 25–60 to 90 % of all gout patients. About 50 % of patients with hyperuricemia have symptoms of MS. Hyperuricemia as a component of MS is a predictor of cardiovascular mortality, development of diabetes mellitus, hypertension and nephrolithiasis. Hyperuricemia is closely related to diabetes, obesity, coronary heart disease, hypertension. On the example of a clinical case, the main components of MS are considered, as well as the issue of the relationship between hyperuricemia, gout and the components of MS. The main idea behind the creation of the MS concept is to select a population of patients at a high cardiovascular risk in whom preventive measures such as lifestyle modification and the use of adequate drugs can significantly affect the main health indicators. The goal of managing patients with MS is to minimize cardiovascular risk and mortality as much as possible. Accordingly, the therapeutic strategy should include optimal ways to modify the lifestyle; lowering blood pressure to the target level and treating comorbid conditions; reducing low-density lipoprotein cholesterol according to the risk profile: > 50 %, and < 70 mg/dL (1.4 mmol/L) in patients at a very high cardiovascular risk; > 50 %, and < 100 mg/dL (1.8 mmol/l) in high-risk patients; reducing fasting serum glucose < 126 mg/dl (7 mmol/l) or glycated hemoglobin < 7 % (53 mmol/mol); maintaining uric acid level < 6.5 mg/dL (0.387 mmol/L), in patients with gout — below 6 mg/dL (0.357 mmol/L). Thus, according to the results of the research, a causal relationship was found between insulin resistance and serum uric acid levels in patients with metabolic syndrome. The strategy for managing patients with metabolic syndrome should include screening and correction of hypertension, carbohydrate purine metabolism, dyslipidemia, and prevention of cardiovascular events.

과제의 반복적인 수정과 실행을 통한 수학교사의 집단 창의성 개념에 대한 지식과 교수 활동의 변화 분석

In this study, we analyzed how a mathematics teacher developed knowledge and teaching activities in group creativity education through repetitive task modification and implementation. To this end, a mathematics teacher with three years of experience modified the task and implemented it in the class repeatedly four times. Each class was conducted for twenty 9th-grade students at Y middle school located in a large city. The data of this study included recordings and transcriptions of each class and teacher-researcher community discussions, tasks, student activity sheets, teacher interviews, and field notes. The focus of task modification and implementation and their changes were analyzed. The results show that the focus of task modification and implementation changed as the study progressed. In the beginning, the focus was on group fluency and group originality, and group flexibility and group elaboration were observed from mid to late. Changes in the focus of task modification and implementation show changes in the teacher's knowledge of the concept and teaching activities in group creativity education, showing that the teacher's knowledge and teaching activities in group creativity had improved. Changes in student activities observed in the repeated implementation of the modified tasks also demonstrate this. Based on these results, we recommend expansion of theoretical knowledge on the concept of group creativity, development of group creativity tasks and pedagogical strategies, and group creativity education for teachers to strengthen teachers' group creativity teaching activities.

Design Processes: From the Historical Perspective to the Application in Startups Companies

This article addresses innovation, entrepreneurship and design management, aiming to investigate how it could contribute to the maintenance of the innovative character of startup companies. A brief survey was made on the importance of design in organizations. The timeline with the main developments from the 1950s to the present day, revealed that design has been strengthened as an entrepreneurial and strategic character. Subsequently, the Brazilian startup scenario was structured, analyzing the context in which they are inserted, as well as their management paradigms, which culminated in the search for information about design management and its role for the innovation of organizations. As a result, the theoretical studies allowed the elaboration of a model with five processes: Design for innovation strategies; Design for idea generation; Design for concept creation; Project to represent the company; and Design as an integrator.

2D Materials Nanoarchitectonics for 3D Structures/Functions.

It has become clear that superior material functions are derived from precisely controlled nanostructures. This has been greatly accelerated by the development of nanotechnology. The next step is to assemble materials with knowledge of their nano-level structures. This task is assigned to the post-nanotechnology concept of nanoarchitectonics. However, nanoarchitectonics, which creates intricate three-dimensional functional structures, is not always easy. Two-dimensional nanoarchitectonics based on reactions and arrangements at the surface may be an easier target to tackle. A better methodology would be to define a two-dimensional structure and then develop it into a three-dimensional structure and function. According to these backgrounds, this review paper is organized as follows. The introduction is followed by a summary of the three issues; (i) 2D to 3D dynamic structure control: liquid crystal commanded by the surface, (ii) 2D to 3D rational construction: a metal-organic framework (MOF) and a covalent organic framework (COF); (iii) 2D to 3D functional amplification: cells regulated by the surface. In addition, this review summarizes the important aspects of the ultimate three-dimensional nanoarchitectonics as a perspective. The goal of this paper is to establish an integrated concept of functional material creation by reconsidering various reported cases from the viewpoint of nanoarchitectonics, where nanoarchitectonics can be regarded as a method for everything in materials science.

Status and prospects of agricultural cooperative development

Cooperatives in the Republika Srpska are in a position to face the consequences of development from the previous period, the consequences of the war and the creation of a new concept of cooperative development, starting primarily from changes in the legal, economic and political system of the country. There are two phenomena or two directions of development of cooperatives. First is the direction of development of newly established cooperatives that have fully or at least partially harmonized their operations with cooperative principles and legal framework and have a sound business and market policy. The other direction of stagnation and undevelopment refers to the still present so-called old cooperatives that have not adjusted their operations to the new legal framework or new market circumstances, and are very often burdened with lawsuits, within which significant cooperative and state property has been blocked. The experience of developed countries proves that cooperatives are one of the irreplaceable segments of agricultural and rural development and a very suitable form for free and voluntary association of producers. The role of cooperatives in the future is to influence the reduction of social and economic divisions and to direct the whole process in a fairer way. It could be said that cooperatives, from the point of view of their principles, represent irreplaceable forms of organizing people. They, in fact, by their structure and specifics, carry the keys to their own success. The parameters of cooperative adequacy are different, and the following stand out: priority of cooperative membership; diversity of cooperatives; strengthening the power of the people; careful resource management; creating financial power; strategic thinking. Cooperative membership must be the center of attention.

GOD, CREATION AND NOTHING: THE TYPOLOGY AND PROBLEMS OF THE MAIN CONCEPTS OF THE ORIGIN OF THE WORLD IN THE HISTORY OF EUROPEAN PHILOSOPHY

. This article shows the meaning of the concept of “nothing” in the history of European philosophical cosmogony. The author considers positive natural-philosophical emanationism in early antiquity, the category of “nothing” in the context of emanationism and demiurgism in the Platonic tradition, the Gnostic concept of creation and its correlates in church heterodoxy, as well as the idea of creation from nothing in biblical Christian creationism. The ratio of Gnostic, Platonic and Church cosmology is shown in the context of the interpretation of the category of nothing in these currents. The article provides a critical analysis of the concept of “creation from nothing”. Particular attention is paid to the interpretation of “nothing” in the Gnostic tradition and church heterodoxy. The author shows the interaction of the emanative and demiurgic models in Christian orthodoxy.

Bricolage or breakthrough? Entrepreneurial responses to tourism development in a regional tourism destination

The Evolutionary Economic Geography (EEG) framework contributes to the study of tourism destination evolution by focusing on the various circumstances and events through which tourism destinations develop over long periods of time. Our research objective is to investigate how players in tourism destinations shape development pathways when they face stagnant or lock‐in situations. Applying the concepts of path dependence and path creation, we explain how path shaping mechanisms such as bricolage (the process of combining available resources to create innovative outcomes) and breakthrough (a process where actors attempt to generate dramatic outcomes to deviate from existing pathways) occur using two destinations in the two regencies of the Toraja region of Sulawesi, Indonesia, as a case study. Understanding cultural tourism destination pathways requires frameworks capable of interrogating ethno‐political structures and histories and assessing how they influence developmental pathways that generate regional transformations. Our investigation indicates: strong path dependence in tourism, due to cultural, political, and economic conditions, inhibits breakthrough development; that the strength of path dependence at a regional level strongly influences the path shaping processes at the firm level; and that a breakthrough developmental process in tourism does not exclude bricolage.

Design and evaluation of a smart passive dynamic arm support for robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery

Surgeons performing robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery experience physical stress and overuse of shoulder muscles due to sub-optimal arm support during surgery. The objective is to present a novel design and prototype of a dynamic arm support for robotic laparoscopic surgery to evaluate its ergonomics and performance on the AdLap-VR simulation training device. The prototype was designed using the mechanical engineering design process: Technical requirements, concept creation, concept selection, 3D-design and built of the prototype. A crossover study was performed on a marble sorting task on the AdLap-VR. The first group performed four trials without the arm support, followed by four trials with the arm support, and the other group executed the sequence vice versa. The performance parameters used were time to complete (s), path length (mm), and the number of collisions. Afterward, the participants filled out a questionnaire on the ergonomic experience regarding both situations. 20 students executed 160 performed trials on the AdLap-VR Significant decreases in the subjective comfort parameters mental demand, physical demand, effort and frustration were observed as a result of introducing the novel arm support. Significant decreases in the objective performance parameters path length and the number of collisions were also observed during the tests. The newly developed dynamic arm support was found to improve comfort and enhance performance through increased stability on the robotic surgery skills simulator AdLap-VR.

Generative Artificial Intelligence to Enhance Architecture Education to Develop Digital Literacy and Holistic Competency

This research investigates the impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) on digital literacy development and holistic competencies in Architecture education. The research design focuses on applying GenAI tools such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, BricsCAD BIM, and VR/AR software and their influence on architectural students' overall competencies. This paper uses a mixed research approach combining a case study of Architecture students' progress in a residential revisitation project, using Midjourney, BricsCAD BIM, and VR/AR software, with an online questionnaire survey administered to 350 undergraduate students at two leading universities in Mainland China and Hong Kong in the 2023-2024 school year. This approach aims to deepen understanding of GenAI's influence on conceptual creativity, initiative, self-management, and stress tolerance within a holistic competency framework. The research results indicate that architecture students frequently use GenAI tools during the design concept stage, suggesting their relevance to specific pedagogy in-studio learning and conceptual creativity. Additionally, the findings reveal a potential correlation between frequent GenAI tool usage, improved time management, and reduced anxiety among Architecture students. The results enhance understanding of digital technology in Architecture education while providing valuable insights for future GenAI implementations. The study highlights the potential benefits of incorporating GenAI, emphasizing their role in fostering creativity, effective time management, and stress tolerance among Architecture students.
