Research on Computer Aided Test System for Sealing Characteristics of Hydraulic Support Pure Water Hydraulic Cylinder

The sealing characteristics of the hydraulic cylinder in the hydraulic support will have an momentous implication on the safety and reliability of the whole system. The traditional test methods of the sealing characteristics of hydraulic support pure water hydraulic cylinder have many shortcomings, such as single means, complex process, poor accuracy and low efficiency. Based on this, this paper first analyzes the sealing principle and function of hydraulic support pure water hydraulic cylinder, then studies the CAT system of hydraulic support, and finally gives the design and utilization process of CAT system for sealing characteristics of hydraulic support pure water hydraulic cylinder.

Quality edge extraction of mechanical CAD parts for intelligent manufacturing

Computer aided testing (CAT) is the latest technique. It is because CAT involve in a different stages of manufacturing like designing, production and quality control by 3D measuring instrument that is time consuming. If the object position is known before examined, time can be managed. Machine vision dependent inspection of mechanical CAD parts has become demanding area in the field of industrial inspection. In this work, we developed the procedure to detect the mechanical CAD parts with the edge-based algorithms. The data has been taken with 3D model that has been designed using solid edge ST8 CAD/CAM PLM software and analysed using MATLAB for automated production checking system. Our proposed method uses the edge-based recognition of CAD object by fuzzy-based approach in order to create image information of shape before it can be used for pose estimation in computer aided testing system. From the experimental results, it has been found that with the proposed vision system more accurate and reliable products can be manufactured intelligently.

The Application of Technology of Virtual Instruments in Testing System for Hydraulic

The Concept of a virtual instrument and the computer aided testing system for hydraulic based on technology of virtual instruments are represented in this paper. Virtual instrument technology is employed to construct the software and hardware framework. The modularized system gained features high flexibility and expandability.

A Preliminary Inquiry Into Using Corpus Word Frequency Data in the Automatic Generation of English Language Cloze Tests

This paper outlines how a multiple choice vocabulary cloze test can be produced from a text. The process described involves assigning word class tags to the text and then retrieving word frequencies for the words in the text from an analyzed corpus. The system allows for the creation of three types of test--one based on the "nth-word deletion" principle, one based on user-specified frequency ranges, and one based on a particular word class. After the user's selection, word class and word frequency of each test item key are matched with similar word class and word frequency options to construct the test items. Analysis of tests produced by the system and administered to students indicates the potential of the computer aided test system, although the three test production modes are not equally successful in their production of "acceptable" test items with the nth-word deletion mode producing considerably fewer acceptable items than the two language oriented test production modes of specified word frequency ranges and particular word classes. The paper concludes with a discussion of the extent to which good test material can be realistically produced by computer aided systems and the different computer tools which may be of use in the process.

Some Aspects of Computer-Aided Formative and Summative Assessments

The article highlights several problems related to computer-aided formative and summative assessments. Formative tests tend to check the knowledge of the learners in order to teach them. Summative tests aim to assess the knowledge acquired. The authors of the article attach importance to the role of the computer-aided testing system that is being developed in the Armenian education system and single out certain factors that could contribute to the process.

Application of Computer Aided Testing System in Aero Engine Running

Aero engine running is complex mechanical experiments. In the last two decades, many computer aided testing (CAT) systems were developed and employed in aero engine running. Traditionally, the main role of a CAT system is data acquisition, which developed with the client/server (C/S) architecture. Now, a CAT system plays more and more important roles in information management, such as measurement channels management, experiment design and management, data analysis and report management, and so on. Users may work on local place or on remote. So, it is not only a data acquisition system, but also an information system. In this paper, we introduce hybrid architecture of C/S and browser/server (B/S) to take advantages of both of them. For local users, clients are realized to provide local monitor and operation. For remote users, browsers provide not only real-time measurement data, but also querying and management of the history data. It demonstrates that the CAT system meets the requirement of aero engine running.

Research on Dynamic Characteristic Testing Method for Large-Scale Rolling Mill Servo Cylinder

Through the analysis of the current researches on servo cylinder dynamic characteristic testing methods, this paper puts forward a new testing method of dynamic characteristic on large scale rolling mill servo cylinder, and elucidates the composition and testing method of the hydraulic system. It introduces the process of computer aided testing system and analyzes the dynamic characteristic of the frame. The testing system has been to realization in a test bench developed for a company.

Development of computer aided test system for vehicle electric brake

Based on electric brake test specifications and evaluation system,structure of the computer aided test (CAT) system for vehicle electric brake is designed.A speed variable motor driving friction disc is to simulate vehicle brake drum's rotation at different speeds.The installation mechanisms for electric brake and electromagnet are designed respectively.Pneumatic separation equipment is employed to realize automatic test conveniently.Based on the multifunction data acquisition card (DAQ) and graphical programming language LabVIEW,a scheme of vehicle electric brake virtual system is proposed.A CAT system for the electric brake performance is developed.The testing of electric brake torque,magnetic force and friction is realized.Finally based on the communication interface of LabVIEW and SQL Server,the integration and data sharing of the CAT system and the CAD system are realized.The system is verified.And the two years' operation shows that the electric brake performance testing system based on virtual instrument is qualified for the test.The test result is also qualified for the analysis requirement.

Integrated Automatic Test System for Airborne Optoelectronic Pods

Based on the introduction of the construction and basic principle of the airborne optoelectronic pod, in accordance with the performance standards of the pod, the total solution scheme of the automatic test system used for testing the combination property is proposed in this paper. The main structure, hardware and software design of the system based on the virtual instruments technology are also discussed in detail. The result of the true run proves the practicality, efficiency, high accuracy and other characteristics of the computer aided testing system based on virtual instruments.

Analytical compliance method for Mode I interlaminar fracture toughness testing of composites

An analytical compliance method has been successfully applied to Mode I interlaminar fracture toughness tests for laminated composites. A new double cantilever beam (DCB) specimen was designed to measure load-line crack opening displacement with high accuracy, and an interpolation function proposed to calculate the crack length and the energy release rate from the analytical results of compliance of the DCB specimen. A computer-aided testing system was also developed based on the analytical compliance method. Unidirectionally reinforced carbon/epoxy laminates were tested by the computer-aided testing system in which the measurement of crack length and fracture toughness was carried out automatically. The validity of the analytical compliance method was confirmed theoretically and experimentally. Results of acoustic emission (AE) indicated good correlation between the AE amplitude and fracture toughness. Constant Felicity ratio was also observed during stable crack propagation.

Mode I type inter-layer fracture characteristic of the unidirectional carbon/epoxy laminated board.

Mode I interlaminar fracture toughness of CFRP has been examined using DCB (Double Cantilever Beam) specimenn in this paper. A new DCB specimen has been developed in order to obtain the accurate fracture toughness value, Gc, using the compliance method. Interpolation equations of crack length, energy release rate and compliance are obtained using the finite element method. Based on the equations, a computer-aided testing system has been developed, by which the relation between the crack length and Gc can be obtained automatically. Unidirectionally reinforced Carbon/Epoxy laminates have been used for the test. The initial cracks were introduced in two ways, by inserting PTFE film on the midplane during fabrication and by cutting mechanically after curing. Behavior of the acoustic emission (AE) has also been measured during the test, and the relation between the amplitude distribution and Gc has been examined. Effects of the initial crack on Gc have been examined and reasonable fracture toughness values have been obtained by the proposed method for the specimens with cracks prepared by both of the mechanical crack with width of three plies and PTFE film.

Fatigue Crack Propagation under Service Loading

Most of actual service loads for real structures are random in general and, moreover, are stationary processes in many cases. It is essential for the structural engineer to be able to estimate fatigue strength of structural members under the effect of such randomness in service loading on the basis of the conventional fatigue test data. Engineers are sometimes confronted with the necessity of prompt relevant action on cracks discovered by inspection in service or in fabrication.A number of investigations on estimating methods for fatigue crack growth under random loading have been carried out, but most of them are based on the assumption that the random loading can appropriately be replaced by so-called “block loading”. Experimental investigations on the comparison between fatigue behaviors under purely random loading and block loading and/or constant amplitude loading are quite limited.In this paper, the authors have conducted fatigue crack propagation tests using a computer aided testing system, where random process required was generated by micro-computer, as well as block loading and constant amplitude tests. Experimentally obtained features and comparative discussion based on the experimental data are given.
