How Were Patient Safety Incidents Responded to, Investigated, and Learned From Within the English National Health Service Before the Implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework? A Rapid Review.

To understand how National Health Service organizations routinely responded to, investigated, and learned from patient safety incidents in England before the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework, and to identify associated success criteria and barriers. We followed rapid review methodology and searched 2 electronic databases. We aimed to identify and synthesize literature regarding patient safety incident response, investigation, and learning within the English National Health Service, before the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework. Nineteen articles were included. A narrative synthesis generated 4 concepts: (1) a multifaceted reporting culture, (2) investigation processes, (3) the landscape of support and involvement, and (4) opportunities to learn. Barriers to incident reporting included time, task characteristics, a culture of blame, and lack of feedback. Root cause analysis was cited as the most common investigation method. Studies outlined points of support and involvement for patients and families, the importance of supporting and involving patients and families, and acknowledged contributions from patients and families may be overlooked currently. For health care staff, the need for timely and personalized support soon after an incident was emphasized. Studies underlined the limitations of current approaches to learning and improvement. These findings lend support to the challenges associated with health care systems' infrastructures and strategies for responding to and learning from patient safety incidents. These challenges centre on 2 interrelated issues: the investigative challenges of rigorously conducting systems analysis and learning-oriented improvement; and the relational challenges of supporting genuine relationships of care, open and honest communication, and supportive engagement after patient safety incidents.

Bridging the gap in flood risk communication: a comparative study of community and organizational social media posts using natural language processing

Floods are prevalent disasters in the United States (U.S.), with escalating risks due to climate change-induced factors like rising sea levels and erratic rainfall patterns. While organizational efforts to mitigate the social and economic impacts of floods exist, there is a continued need for innovative approaches to flood management, particularly in flood risk communication. Currently, flood risk communication remains largely one-directional (i.e., communication comes from organizational entities such as emergency services or the media and is not necessarily informed or updated by community need, which can limit preparedness and response capabilities). Prior studies have found that social media platforms offer valuable opportunities for more interactive and real-time dialogue during disasters, including flood events. Additionally, there is an established body of research exploring the communication relationships between communities and organizational entities, respectively; highlighting opportunities to better develop pathways for two-way communications. Our study builds upon this literature by examining the alignment between community and organizational messages on social media during a series of flooding events affecting nine U.S. states from July 2022 to August 2022. Specifically, the study uses Natural Language Processing (NLP) to compare the content, sentiment, and emotion of messages from each entity to assess whether organizational communications reflect public needs and effectively foster two-way communication. Results reveal key temporal and spatial trends in message frequency and topic focus across communities and organizational entities, from which we develop five targeted recommendations designed to support the execution of more effective two-way flood communication. Future work will provide further insights into tailoring communication strategies to more diverse populations and circumstances.

Multicultural challenges and employee experience in globally dispersed teams: insights from Indian software firms

Purpose Geographically dispersed teams (GDTs) have become prevalent in the digital era, and managing such teams presents businesses with distinct multicultural challenges. As organisations recognise the pivotal role of employee experience in the success of such teams, there is a growing need to address and understand the relationship of multicultural challenges on this crucial aspect. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between multicultural challenges and employee experience within the GDTs of Indian software firms. Design/methodology/approach The study predominantly uses a quantitative research approach. Data were collected using the snowball sampling technique from 384 employees across different software firms in India, all engaged in GDTs. The study uses IBM SPSS 25 for data analysis and conducts structural equation modelling using IBM SPSS AMOS Version 24 to test the hypotheses and offer valuable insights into the complex dynamics of multicultural challenges and their relationship with employee experience in the context of GDTs. Findings Communication and diversity revealed a negative relationship with behavioural, cognitive and social dimensions of the employee experience within GDTs. Conversely, trust revealed a positive and significant relationship, showcasing its substantial contribution to enhancing the employee experience. The study outlines avenues for future research and offers managerial implications, providing a roadmap for advancing understanding and enhancing employee experience in the dynamic realm of managing multicultural challenges in virtual settings. Originality/value The research presents novel and significant evidence by demonstrating the relationships among three important variables – communication, trust and diversity – and the behavioural, cognitive and social aspects of the employee experience. Applying an in-depth analysis to the interplay of these characteristics within GDTs, the study is novel. It emphasises the beneficial impact that trust plays in improving employee experience while also highlighting the negative relationship of communication and diversity with employee experience. These findings not only close a significant gap in the literature but also have application for Human Resource Management practices and policies, laying the groundwork for further investigations in virtual work settings.

Interaksi Hubungan Tanpa Status Antara Lawan Jenis Pada Mahasiswa Fisip UPN Veteran Yogyakarata

Humans establish communication relationships between each other, including with the opposite sex. It is not uncommon for this communication to give birth to feelings that continue into a relationship. Relationships between individuals that occur often become unclear or are often called Stateless Relationships (HTS). Stateless relationships are conditions in which a person is in a relationship with or without involving an officially recognized status in their relationship. Relationships without status have an approach to social penetration theory where in establishing the stages of closeness in a relationship without status each individual will approach the opposite sex to reveal information and interests between individuals. The stages in the information gathering phase become a factor in the running of a relationship without status which will end in sustainability or social penetration.

Conductors’ views on individual practice activities

This study explored how professional conductors understand the role of individual (purposeful) practice and how they describe the contents of such practice. Twelve professional conductors were interviewed and content analysis was used to analyze the data. The results show that the participants understood conducting as a lifelong learning process. Through intensive individual practice, they had built up a significant repertoire of musical works. Being well prepared allowed them to impart knowledge, which helped them to achieve an authoritative and communicative relationship with musicians. While technical aspects such as baton technique had been important during early career stages, these were mostly no longer practiced. Studying the score was perceived as the most central practice activity aiming at performance improvement. It required disciplined, persistent, and goal-oriented learning, and thus carried the marks of purposeful practice. Individual activities during score study were mainly carried out mentally and in particular situations supported with external tools (e.g., piano, audio recordings). The findings shed light on differences in opinion and implicit tensions, especially regarding memorization and the use of tools.

Gender Communication Patterns in Broken Home Families

Gender communication plays an important role in shaping the dynamics of interaction in families, especially in broken home families. This study aims to analyze the role of gender in gender communication patterns of broken home families in Pampangan hamlet, A'bulosibatang village, Marusu sub-district. The research method used is a qualitative approach with in-depth interview techniques and observation of family members who experience parental separation. The results of the study indicate that the communication pattern applied is a balanced split pattern. Where communication in the family is divided equally, but family members tend to side with one parent. Children still have good communication relationships with both parents,s but are closer to one of them. Children who are raised by mothers tend to experience more emotional and open communication, while children who are raised by fathers more often experience instructional, limited, and less expressive communication. So that a mother only elaborates the feminine aspect more in communicating with her children, both girls and boys. Likewise, a father who is more dominant in actualizing the masculine aspect in interacting with children affects the development of the children who live with him. Communication patterns in broken home families in this area are still influenced by the dominant gender construction in society. Therefore, a more inclusive and supportive communication approach is needed to help family members deal with the emotional and social challenges resulting from parental separation

Research on adaptive explicit distributed model predictive control strategy for horizontal vibration of high-speed elevator multi-agent car system

To solve the horizontal vibration problem of high-speed elevators caused by unevenness of guide rails and excitation of guide rail joints, considering the uncertainty of high-speed elevator parameters and multivariable coupling, an adaptive explicit distributed model predictive control strategy based on a multi-agent car system of high-speed elevators is proposed. First, the coupling constraints of high-speed elevator car are analyzed, and the horizontal vibration model of multi-agent car system is established. Second, the topology relationship of car multi-agent communication based on graph theory is analyzed, and the optimal control law of agent distribution model prediction is realized offline by multi-parameter programming technology. Meanwhile, by introducing a correction term with parameter estimation error, the uncertain parameter terms of the multi-agent car system can be estimated online. Design an adaptive explicit distributed model predictive control strategy for multi-agent car systems by combining offline collaborative distributed optimization with online uncertain parameter adaptive estimation. Finally, the time-domain and frequency-domain responses of high-speed elevator multi-agent car systems under two typical guide excitations are analyzed by simulation calculation and compared with the numerical results under passive control, adaptive control, and model predictive control. The results show that after the proposed control strategy is adopted, the mean horizontal vibration acceleration of the car system decreases by more than 48.4%, which further verifies the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.

Strategic Communication of the Organization in Times of Crisis

The evolution of the modern organization is currently marked by the amplification of interdependencies with the environment in which it operates; the expression of this evolution is the accentuation of the open character of the organization conceived as a system, reflected both on the level of "inputs" - production factors and information - and on that of "outputs" - material goods, information, and services - through which it integrates into the environment national and international environment and which knows a much-increased variety and intensity compared to the previous period. Any change in the environment must be known and mastered, in order to ensure self-regulation through legal, conflictual, and operational sources. Strategic communication takes two basic forms: the development of communication relationships with the external environment and forecasting the evolution and changes that can occur outside the organization and which can affect their activity. The organization tries to survive in the external, necessarily competitive environment, by building profitable relationships with its key actors: local authorities, directors of other organizations, in general people who are considered to be influential. At the time of the initiation of these communication networks, they are not really indispensable. However, they are designed with the idea that they can prove useful in case of a crisis or other unexpected event.

AI, How Much Shall I Tell You? Exchange and Communal Consumer-AI Relationships and the Willingness to Disclose Personal Information.

Personal information is an important resource for the optimal functioning of AI and technology. Starting from the different theories that define human relationships and the way information is exchanged within them, we investigate the way in which communal and exchange relationships are formed between consumers and AI and the way they influence consumers' willingness to disclose personal information to AI. With the help of structural equation modeling, we prove empirically that attachment to AI rather develops communal relationships compared to exchange relationships between consumers and AI. Communal relationships have a stronger influence on both enjoyment and self-disclosing behavior, while exchange relationships do not trigger a self-disclosing behavior unless there is enjoyment. Furthermore, attachment to AI alone does not influence self-disclosing behavior unless a communal relationship is developed. Our structural equation model emphasized the complex nature of relationships between consumers and AI and has important implications for the way AI will be optimally integrated in business processes and society.

Relationship between Internal Marketing Dimensions and Affective Commitment of Private Bank Employees in Punjab: The Mediating Role of Growth Mindset

This research investigates the mediation role of Growth Mindset in determining the relationship between Internal Marketing dimensions and Affective Commitment among employees of private banks in Punjab, India. Despite its significant impact in shaping organisational environments, Growth Mindset has garnered minimal attention in the current literature. The study utilises replies from 644 employees from five prominent private banks, chosen for their significant branch density in the five major cities of Punjab. Utilising SPSS 21 and SmartPLS 4 for data analysis, the results indicate that Internal Marketing dimensions, including Internal Market Research and Training, strongly affect Affective Commitment, except for Internal Communication. The notable link between Internal Marketing dimensions and Growth Mindset underscores the importance of Internal Marketing in fostering a progressive organisational culture. Moreover, the Growth Mindset functions as a significant mediator, emphasising an important link between the relationship of Internal Communication and Internal Market Research with Affective Commitment among employees. The study’s consequences transcend both academic and managerial fields, providing significant information for human resource professionals and researchers to improve workplace settings. This research highlights the strategic importance of Internal Marketing in cultivating a sense of belonging and commitment, hence enhancing the understanding of employee engagement and organisational performance.

Integrated single-cell analysis reveals the regulatory network of disulfidptosis-related lncRNAs in bladder cancer: constructing a prognostic model and predicting treatment response.

Disulfidptosis is a newly discovered form of cell death, and long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play a crucial role in tumor cell growth, migration, recurrence, and drug resistance, particularly in bladder cancer (BLCA). This study aims to investigate disulfidptosis-related lncRNAs (DRLs) as potential prognostic markers for BLCA patients. Utilizing single-cell sequencing data, RNA sequencing data, and corresponding clinical information sourced from the GEO and TCGA databases, this study conducted cell annotation and intercellular communication analyses to identify differentially expressed disulfide death-related genes (DRGs). Subsequently, Pearson correlation and Cox regression analyses were employed to discern DRLs that correlate with overall survival. A prognostic model was constructed through LASSO regression analysis based on DRLs, complemented by multivariate Cox regression analysis. The performance of this model was rigorously evaluated using Kaplan-Meier analysis, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, and area under the ROC curve (AUC). Furthermore, this investigation delved into the potential signaling pathways, immune status, tumor mutation burden (TMB), and responses to anticancer therapies associated with varying prognoses in patients with BLCA. We identified twelve differentially expressed DRGs and elucidated their corresponding intercellular communication relationships. Notably, epithelial cells function as ligands, signaling to other cell types, with the interactions between epithelial cells and both monocytes and endothelial cells exhibiting the strongest connectivity. This study identified six DRLs in BLCA-namely, C1RL-AS1, GK-AS1, AC134349.1, AC104785.1, AC011092.3, and AC009951.6, and constructed a nomogram to improve the predictive accuracy of the model. The DRL features demonstrated significant associations with various clinical variables, diverse immune landscapes, and drug sensitivity profiles in BLCA patients. Furthermore, RT-qPCR validation confirmed the aberrant expression levels of these DRLs in BLCA tissues, affirming the potential of DRL characteristics as prognostic biomarkers. We established a DRLs model that serves as a predictive tool for the prognosis of BLCA patients, as well as for assessing tumor mutation burden, immune cell infiltration, and responses to immunotherapy and targeted therapies. Collectively, this study contributes valuable insights toward advancing precision medicine within the context of BLCA.

Tolerance Education Towards Diversity of People in Schoolls

The role of education in fostering a tolerant attitude among society is to instill a tolerant attitude towards religious life in students. Religious diversity is often seen as causing conflict between majority groups versus minority groups. However, the religious diversity found in most schools does not cause conflict due to differences in religious backgrounds. The aim is to identify forms of religious tolerance in schools and examples of implementing tolerance among students. Carrying out religious activities in order to build tolerance between believers. The nature of religious tolerance between religious communities which is applied to the practice of other religious activities is considered effective, because apart from providing basic religious teachings, students also receive them directly. Continue to recognize the practical realities of establishing communication relationships with followers of other religions. Religion is often the source of all problems, but it is also a material factor in overcoming problems that arise in society. So then, there is an urgent need to understand this condition using relevant methods. And in this discussion, the approach used includes a sociological approach. The sociological approach is an approach or method. The discussion revolves around the communal object in the discussion. This approach is an approach that enlightens people who are experiencing problems. Therefore, a sociological (society) approach is needed to understand what they believe based on their religious knowledge.

Different effects of competition on gratitude and indebtedness through the exchange relationship

ABSTRACT The present research found a new phenomenon across three studies (N = 686) that competition has different effects on gratitude and indebtedness after being helped. We conducted a scenario experiment and a laboratory experiment in Study 1 and Study 2 respectively. Both studies revealed that the recipient’s gratitude decreased after competition regardless of competition outcomes, while indebtedness significantly decreased only when the recipient failed, with no significant change when the recipient succeeded. Study 3 replicated the above results and further found that after competition the communal relationship decreases while the exchange relationship increases. The exchange relationship played a mediating role between competition and gratitude/indebtedness. Our research extends social exchange theory, providing new evidence to distinguish between gratitude and indebtedness. It is helpful for colleagues, classmates, or teammates to positively manage their relationships in competition.

Advertising Design based on Virtual Reality Technology

With the rapid development of computer simulation, amorphous display science and technology is not limited to cutting-edge research in the laboratory, but has penetrated all walks of life, bringing earth-shaking changes to people's daily life. In the field of advertising design, virtual reality technology provides a brand-new platform, which makes advertising design no longer just a continuation of graphic design or traditional video production, but an innovative way closely combined with user experience. By highly simulating the environment and situation of the real world, virtual reality advertising can create unprecedented visual effects and emotional experiences, thus greatly enhancing the brand's appeal and memory. This unique media form has undoubtedly had a far-reaching impact on the advertising market, which not only changed the consumption habits of consumers but also reshaped the communication relationship between advertisers and audiences. The purpose of this dissertation is to deeply analyze the development of web-based fantasy world technology and its far-reaching influence on advertising communication, and at the same time explore how to adapt to the new challenges and opportunities brought by virtual reality technology with innovative design ideas and methods. In this era of accelerating digitalization, we need to rethink the essence of advertising and the way of communication, to make better use of the potential of this emerging technology, promote the development of the advertising industry, and achieve more accurate and efficient communication goals. Through this paper's discussion, I hope to provide a new perspective for professionals engaged in the advertising industry to gain insight into market trends and find solutions for them to adapt to this emerging communication mode in future advertising design.

The Relationship Between Reader and Writer in Contemporary Haiku Poems

The purpose of this paper is to look at the relationship of communication and readers’ participation in contemporary haiku poems. The poems selected for exemplification in this paper will be from Haiku Canada Members’ Anthology 2024. No Two Alike. The way in which readers work their way through meaning will be underlined, through free associations and use of universal symbols, and also based on common life experiences. A reader response approach will be adopted, since it has in view the way readers react to any text. Textual analysis will be combined with the readers’ emotional reactions and interpretations based on personal life experiences and cultural background. We can speak of communities of readers, in this case made up by the Western culture writers of an originally Japanese poem, the haiku. It is adapted and also compatible with other cultural mindsets. The way readers are engaged in the haiku poetry experience further leads to haiku being used in therapy, to encourage patients to express themselves, and become aware of their emotions, without thinking about the rules of this type of poem.
