학교 축제와 연계한 중학교 학교자율시간 운영 방안의 시론적 탐색: 핵심프로젝트를 중심으로

Objectives This study explored a plan to operate a school festival that links core-projects of each subject in the 16+1 autonomous school hours system in middle school through the subject of ‘Planning a School Festival’. Methods We analyzed literature and previous studies on the organization and operation of school autonomous hours, cases of operating middle and high school festivals, and cases of operating domestic and international core-projects. Based on this, we examined the relationship between school festivals and core-projects in school autonomous hours, and discussed ways to operate school autonomous hours linked to school festivals. Results Firstly, the class schedule of school autonomous time linked to school festivals can be operated as a festival for the entire week or only part of the week. Secondly, a new subject called ‘Planning a School Festival’ can be opened in school autonomous time. Thirdly, the core project of school autonomous time linked to school festivals can be operated in various ways by subject. Conclusions Firstly, it provides a convergent educational experience. Secondly, cooperation and creativity are strengthened. Thirdly, connections with the local community are strengthened. Fourthly, various learning topics and activities are integrated.

Utilizing Technology and Artificial Intelligence in Educational Administration to Enhance School Performance at Junior High School

This study aims to explore the use of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in education administration to improve school performance. In the growing digital era, demands for efficiency and effectiveness in education administration are increasing, especially with the development of school information management systems (SIMS) and AI-based technologies. This research examines how these technologies can automate routine tasks such as class scheduling, student data management, as well as improve data-driven decision-making that is more accurate and efficient. The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, with the process of collecting data through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis directly from several schools that have adopted this technology. In analyzing the data, I used Miles and Hubberman's data triangulation technique in the form of data reduction, data analysis, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the implementation of technology and AI has improved operational efficiency, accelerated administrative processes, and facilitated the monitoring of student and staff performance. However, the study also found challenges in technology adoption, including limited infrastructure, resistance to change, and concerns regarding data privacy. To overcome these obstacles, a holistic strategy is needed, including the development of supportive policies, digital skills training for staff, and improvement of technology infrastructure in schools. This research concludes that although the application of technology and AI in education administration faces various barriers, the potential benefits are significant, especially in terms of improving the efficiency, transparency and overall quality of school performance.

МЕТОДИКА ОРГАНІЗАЦІЇ ПОЗАУРОЧНОЇ ДІЯЛЬНОСТІ В ПРОФЕСІЙНІЙ ОСВІТІ НА ЗАСАДАХ САМООРГАНІЗАЦІЙНОГО ПІДХОДУ

The article examines the issue of forming methods of extracurricular activities of subjects of training in vocational education institutions based on the self-organizational approach. Acquiring a profession in these institutions is carried out according to the lesson system, which is limited by the curriculum, class schedule, etc. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the importance of the formation of the method of organizing extracurricular educational work in the institution of vocational (vocational and technical) education for the formation of professionally mobile qualities for mastering additional education along with the traditional acquisition of qualifications. In addition to the content of the educational process, vocational (vocational and technical) and professional pre-higher education institutions have accumulated experience in extracurricular educational work. However, studies of the last decade indicate the desire of some students to build their activities more effectively, in particular to acquire an additional education. The problem of creating a method of organizing such training, when the acquisition of an additional education is ensured during extracurricular educational activities, is considered. The definition is given – «extracurricular educational activity for the acquisition of an additional education» is a system of self-organized classes, activities and accordingly organized training of students, which are conducted in schools and outside them under the leadership of the administration, engineering and pedagogical workers, the public, student self-government bodies, etc. It was determined that one of the effective ways of organizing the process in vocational education institutions is the extracurricular educational activity of those seeking additional education. The conditions and features of training are outlined, determined on the basis of the conducted survey of the participants of the educational process in accordance with the existing motivation for training.

Commuting violence: Social, mental and academic consequences. Is this concept necessary to adopt?

Abstract Introduction Violence has emerged as a pressing public health issue due to its global impact, prompting the need to coin the term ‘commuting violence’ (CV). This term refers to any form of aggression experienced by students traveling from the University to other locations such as their homes or vice versa, considering that this situation could have health and academic consequences for students. Objectives To determine the consequences associated with CV in university students. Methods A cross-sectional and prospective study was conducted, including students from a Medical School in Veracruz, Mexico, from August to December 2023. Invitations to participate were extended to students of medicine, chiropractic, and radiology technology. Results A total of 279 participants with a mean age of 20 (±3.0) years were included. 89.6% of students perceive insecurity on their journey to the university, primarily due to the presence of suspicious individuals (93.9%); 70.6% of participants reported knowing a peer who has experienced CV, leading them to avoid certain streets (92.5%) to avoid it. Insecurity felt on the journey home from school showed a significant association (OR/CI95%) for anxiety due to JV of (7.2/3.2-16), stress due to CV of (11.1/4.74-25.9), and paranoia due to CV of (4.48/2.02-9.92). A total of 140 (50.2%) students reported experiencing CV, with the most frequent manifestations being sexual harassment (79.3%) and verbal harassment (57.8%), as well as two (1.4%) attempted rapes. Experiencing CV was positively associated with students avoiding class schedules before 8:00 a.m. (3.6/1.69-7.63) and after 6:00 p.m. (4.6/1.7-11.94), as well as absenteeism (7.37/2.51-21.67) and thoughts of dropping out (12.9/2.75-60.36) (p < 0.05). Conclusions PV is a relevant situation that exists within the well-being of students, impacting them both in anticipation and when faced with it. The concept of CV should be considered for use in future research. Key messages • We propose the concept of Commuting violence as an element to be taken into account since it has been demonstrated that this situation interferes with the academic activity of the students. • Commuting violence occurs during academic activities, so universities should propose actions to make students feel safe on their daily journey to the university.

Facilitating Students’ Pronunciations on Plosive Consonant Sounds Through Sephonics Software

This research was about facilitating students’ pronunciations on plosive consonant sounds through Sephonics software. It was done at 3rd semester students of ELT Department of Walisongo State Institute for Islamic Studies in the academic year of 2011/2012. The background of this research was the difficulty in learning pronunciation. This research was aimed to responding the following questions; (1) How was the implementation of using sephonics software for teaching pronunciation (plosive consonant sounds) at third semester students of ELT Department, State Islamic Institute of Walisongo, Semarang? (2) Was there any improvement of students’ pronunciation of plosive consonant sounds after being taught using sephonics software? The participant of this research was the 3rd semester students of ELT Department of Education Faculty, Walisongo State Institute for Islamic Studies, Semarang that consisted of 28 students. It was a classroom action research that had two cycles. They were pre-cycle, cycle 1, and cycle 2. The use of sephonics software was used in cycle 1 and cycle 2. The methods of data collection were test and observation in all cycles. The test form was reading aloud that asked students to pronounce some words that contained plosive consonant sounds. Then, the result of test scores was analyzed by using mean to determine whether there was an improvement in each cycle. This study showed that: (1) the first thing that the teacher needed to do to use this software as a teaching aid was that he or she must conduct the class in a language laboratory. If it was not possible, the teacher could conduct the class in a regular classroom by providing several computers or laptops. Then, the students must be grouped based on the number of the computers. The second thing was that this was CALL learning based; the teacher might explain how to use the software in order that the students could practice by themselves outside of class schedule. (2) After collecting data, the result was found that the average (mean) of pre cycle test was 69. Then, it had very significant improvement in cycle 1 and cycle 2. It became 98.7 from cycle 1 test and 99.6 from cycle 2 test. It meant that the research was successful to improve the students’ pronunciation abilities. In conclusion, Sephonics software was successful to facilitate students’ pronunciations on plosive consonant sounds.

Reinforcement learning-based alpha-list iterated greedy for production scheduling

Metaheuristics can benefit from analyzing patterns and regularities in data to perform more effective searches in the solution space. In line with the emerging trend in the optimization literature, this study introduces the Reinforcement-learning-based Alpha-List Iterated Greedy (RAIG) algorithm to contribute to the advances in machine learning-based optimization, notably for solving combinatorial problems. RAIG uses an N-List mechanism for solution initialization and its solution improvement procedure is enhanced by Reinforcement Learning and an Alpha-List mechanism for more effective searches. A classic engineering optimization problem, the Permutation Flowshop Scheduling Problem (PFSP), is considered for numerical experiments to evaluate RAIG's performance. Highly competitive solutions to the classic scheduling problem are identified, with up to 9% improvement compared to the baseline, when solving large-size instances. Experimental results also show that the RAIG algorithm performs more robustly than the baseline algorithm. Statistical tests confirm that RAIG is superior and hence can be introduced as a strong benchmark for future studies.

Factors associated with attendance at a pharmacist-led group diabetes self-management education class and impact on health outcomes

BackgroundGroup education has demonstrated benefits among people with diabetes, including reduced A1C and improved self-monitoring practices. Despite this, attendance rates are low for a variety of reasons, including lack of understanding of potential benefits among patients. ObjectivesThe pharmacist-led diabetes self-management education program at a community hospital has low attendance. This project assesses characteristics associated with attendance and compares outcomes among attendees and non-attendees. MethodsRetrospective data was collected between July 2022 and December 2023. Variables included: age, sex, class attendance, pre- and ≥ 90-day post-class A1C, pre- and post-class BMI, attending pharmacist-led clinic prior to scheduled class, social determinants of health screening survey responses, and diagnosis of depression or anxiety. Results103 patients were identified. 53 % attended at least one class out of a series of four. Attendance at the pharmacist-led diabetes clinic (70 % among attendees versus 30 % among non-attendees, p < 0.001) was associated with attendance. Age, gender, concurrent mental health diagnoses (depression and anxiety), and SDOH related needs were not associated with attendance. Baseline A1C was similar for attendees and non-attendees (9.6 vs. 9.7 %, respectively). Post-class A1C was 7.4 % for attendees of at least one class and 8 % for non-attendees. Patients who attended all four classes achieved a mean A1C <7 %. DiscussionThere are many factors that lead to lack of engagement with group education for diabetes. Referral to group education by a pharmacist who has established rapport with the patient and can speak to specific details about benefits of the classes may improve attendance at diabetes group education.

PERANCANGAN SISTEM INFORMASI PENDAFTARAN PADA TK AL-HUDA BERBASIS WEBSITE

The development of information technology in this digital era has played an important role in information and communication media in the field of education. One of them is in the school management flow, namely in accepting new students starting from registration to the registration fee payment process. When done manually, there are several ineffectivenesses such as the need to fill out forms with paper which can cause the risk of damage such as wet, torn, dirty, and can even cause the risk of losing data on the form paper. In addition, the ineffectiveness is due to the need to come many times to complete the files to the distribution of registration information which is still limited by using printed media such as brochures and flyers. This study aims to create a website-based information system that can help and reduce the obstacles that exist in the use of the manual method used previously. The information system that has been created contains information about the profile of Al-Huda Kindergarten, programs, activities, testimonials, filling out the registration form, uploading registration files to the registration fee payment process, also equipped with a trial class registration that can display the trial class schedule before parents register their children. This system can also categorize classes according to the age entered by parents when registering. The design of this information system uses the waterfall method approach. The programming languages used are HTML, CSS, and PHP supported by MySQL as its database. The results of this information system can facilitate parents of prospective students in the registration process and obtain more complete information about Al-Huda Kindergarten, an admin who can easily manage, view, and upload data on participant needs.

Methods for efficient generation of Turing machines to solve NP-hard problems

The present study analyzes the software implementation of the concept of generating Turing machines that solve NP-hard problems. The paper describes a mathematical formulation of machine generation, presented as a solution of resource planning problems to be adapted to software for designing class schedules or, more generally, for network scheduling. The proposed software solutions for data representation are partially based on technical solutions for designing a class schedule. Basic strategies (procedural semantics of methods) for reducing searces (deep return, look ahead, etc.) utilize technical solutions for designing class schedules and other strategies (e.g., application of oracle) that have not been used for this purpose. The study is aimed at analyzing the intermediate results of software implementation of the concept of generating Turing machines that solve NP-hard problems. The paper proposes further plans for developing a software package for generating Turing machines into an open platform for teaching students the theory of algorithms and information technology, conducting experiments to determine the non-polynomial complexity of solving certain NP-hard problems generated by Turing machines.

Gym Management System Using Python Django

An inventive software program called the Gym Management System (GMS) was created to maximize and simplify the functioning of gyms and fitness centers. In a time when fitness and health are more important than ever, effective management tools are essential. By making use of the Django web framework, this project makes it possible to create a solid, user-friendly platform that meets the various needs of gym management, employees, and patrons. The GMS includes all of the necessary features, including class scheduling, attendance monitoring, member registration, and payment processing. The initiative intends to increase member involvement and operational efficiency by combining these features into a single system. The fitness sector has grown quickly, and this has made effective gym management systems more and more necessary. Conventional methods of managing gyms, which frequently depend on manual procedures, are ineffective and prone to mistakes, especially when the number of memberships and services offered increases. The design, development, and implementation of a comprehensive Gym Management System (GMS) are presented in this paper. The GMS automates a number of operational tasks, including scheduling fitness sessions, tracking attendance, accepting payments, and managing trainers. Through the use of an intuitive interface, the suggested system seeks to increase data accuracy, optimize member experience, and streamline administrative processes.

University Students Speak Out: Suggestions to Improve the Move to Emergency Remote Education

The 2020 COVID-19 crisis forced universities to make a dramatic shift to emergency remote education (ERE). While the urgency of the pandemic is gone, schools continue implementing ERE, but more often on a short-notice, short-term basis in response to various situations. This research examines students’ suggestions for improving university transitions to ERE and applies them to post-pandemic use of ERE. Qualitative thematic analysis was used to analyze responses to an open-ended survey question answered by 2,751 students at a large Southeastern U.S. university. Responses identified main concerns as Grades and Grading (38%), Better University and Instructor Preparation (23%), Improved Learning Experience (18%), Meeting Student Needs (12%), and No Suggestions (9%). The study found that reducing the uncertainty students felt about ERE’s impact on grades, course content, class schedules, assignments, and communication with instructors would improve their online learning experience. Recommendations suggest preemptive steps universities can take to improve post-pandemic use of emergency remote education.

Analisis Motivasi Mahasiswa PAI 2020 UIN Malang dalam Mengikuti Program Fast Track

This study aims to analyze the motivations of students from the Islamic Education (PAI) class of 2020 at UIN Malang in participating in the Fast Track Program, as an effort to expedite higher education and increase the number of graduates in the Master's program. The research employs a qualitative approach with field research methods. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation over a period of two weeks in June 2024. The findings indicate strong support among students for the program, viewing it as an opportunity to accelerate their professional careers. However, students face challenges such as heavy credit loads and overlapping class schedules. With appropriate support, including effective time management and career guidance, the program can be enhanced to optimize academic and career achievements for students.

Perancangan Sistem Informasi Akademik Dengan Menggunakan Metode Rapid Application Development (RAD) Berbasis Website

The education system in Indonesia is experiencing rapid development characterised by an increase in the number of schools, students, and the complexity of the teaching and learning process. To manage academic data that includes information on students, teachers, grades, attendance, and class schedules, schools need to improve the quality of their services. Education is an important aspect of the country's development, and in this context, Academic Information System (AIS) plays a vital role in supporting administration and management in educational institutions. This research focuses on SMP NU Medan, where the need for an efficient and integrated AIS is increasingly urgent to improve the quality of education services. With the rapid development of information technology, the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method is the right choice because it allows rapid and iterative application development. In addition, Web-based AIS provides wide accessibility for education stakeholders, including making it easier for prospective students to access information and register online. The case study at SMP NU Medan provides a strong foundation for this research by identifying specific needs and coming up with solutions that are relevant and can be implemented immediately. This research aims to design, implement, and evaluate a Web-based AIS using the RAD method, so that it can make a positive contribution in improving the efficiency, accuracy, and quality of service of the school.

Policy responses to extreme heat and its impact on education: The Philippine experience

This paper investigates the experiences and impacts of extreme heat on the Philippine education system during the “summer” seasons of 2023 and 2024, drawing on publicly available data and news reports. It critically examines government responses to the unprecedented challenges posed by emerging extreme heat conditions as part of the new climate normal. Various policy measures were implemented by government agencies to mitigate the adverse effects on students and teachers, including face-to-face class suspensions, shifts to alternative instructional methods, adjusted class schedules, and discussions on returning to the traditional school calendar. However, significant gaps and challenges persist in these responses, underscoring the need for time-consistent policies focused on creating conducive learning environments. The establishment of heat response plans for educational institutions and the development of improved location-specific heat indices are essential to adapt to this new climate reality and minimize the disruption of educational activities.

Effect of morningness-eveningness chronotype on academic performance of undergraduate students

BackgroundCircadian rhythms are crucial for physiological functioning, and they vary among people. There are three distinct chronotypes: morning, evening, and neither type. Morning types experience their highest level of activation during the early part of the day and tend to be more conscientious and focused on achieving their goals. Evening types, on the other hand, reach their peak performance during the latter portion of the day and exhibit a higher level of intelligence. University class schedules may occasionally clash with evening-type individuals’ circadian preferences, potentially impacting their academic performance in comparison to their morning-type peers. Therefore, this study was done to investigate if morningness-eveningness can affect college students’ academic performance as sleeping late or sleep deprivation can lead to disease in the young population.Materials and methodsA sample of 100 collegiate students aged 18–30 years were recruited via convenience sampling from Jamia Hamdard, Delhi, and informed consent was obtained from the subjects. The morningness-eveningness questionnaire (MEQ) was used to assess students’ chronotype, and the mean of the last three academic years percentage was used to assess the academic performance of the students.ResultsThe total academic performance score was better in the morning category (75.53 ± 7.28) as compared to the evening (66.42 ± 10.08) and intermediate (73.72 ± 6.46) categories. There was a low degree of positive correlation between total academic performance and TMEQ (total morning-evening questionnaire) score (ρ = 0.204).ConclusionThe academic performance of morning chronotype students was better than that of evening chronotype students.

Learning through Facebook and YouTube: Perceptions of Students of University of Dhaka

In an age of globalization, social networking sites are integral to student life as in Bangladesh as well as globally. Among others, Facebook and YouTube are the most popular and widely utilized social networking platforms among Bangladeshi students. This article examines how students at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh use social networking sites (such as Facebook and YouTube) for their formal and informal studies. Following mixed methodology, data collection was completed using a structured survey questionnaire and a few semi-structured interviews. Social Learning Theory (SLT) is relevant for this research since social networking sites such as Facebook, YouTube, etc., have contributed to education through observation, imitation and modeling. Attending online classes, communicating with class teachers and classmates, collecting information about the class and exam schedules, uploading, downloading, and sharing academic materials, participating in group discussions, downloading tutorial videos of educational courses and informal education topics, and completing online coursework have come forth as the most prevalent uses of Facebook and YouTube by University of Dhaka students during their studies. USE OF CHATBOTS BASED ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TO OPTIMIZE THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS IN A HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION

This study investigates the impact of artificial intelligence-based chatbots on optimizing the educational process in private higher education institutions. It explores the possibilities of automating routine tasks, such as providing information on class schedules, registering for courses, and answering common queries from students and faculty. The findings indicate that chatbots can significantly reduce the administrative workload, enhance accessibility and interactivity in educational process, and offer personalized learning experiences. A prototype chatbot developed for the Private Higher Educational Institution “European University” is proposed. It has demonstrated effectiveness in engaging with both students and faculty. The study also outlines future prospects for advancing and implementing more sophisticated AI technologies to further improve the quality of education.

Exploring the Strategies for Promoting Academic Progression to thePost-Pregnant Students in Ilala District - Tanzania

This study explored the strategies that promote academic progression for post-pregnant students in Ilala District, Tanzania. The study employed a qualitative research approach, using a case study design. Data were collected from a purposive sample of 50 participants, including parents, teachers, community leaders, coordinators, and students, through semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, and observation. The data were analysed thematically. The findings showed that flexible class schedules, online courses, and alternative learning methods are essential to accommodate childcare responsibilities and recovery after childbirth, and on-campus childcare services emerged as pivotal in helping students balance parenting duties with academic studies, alleviating stress and enhancing academic focus. The study concludes that by supporting the aforementioned initiatives with financial aid and healthcare services, institutions can create a supportive environment that empowers post-pregnant students to pursue their educational goals effectively, potentially leading to a brighter future for these students. Therefore, the study recommended adopting comprehensive policies incorporating these measures into the educational system to provide post-pregnant students with ongoing assistance and achievement.

A Self-Learning Hyper-Heuristic Algorithm Based on a Genetic Algorithm: A Case Study on Prefabricated Modular Cabin Unit Logistics Scheduling in a Cruise Ship Manufacturer.

Hyper-heuristic algorithms are known for their flexibility and efficiency, making them suitable for solving engineering optimization problems with complex constraints. This paper introduces a self-learning hyper-heuristic algorithm based on a genetic algorithm (GA-SLHH) designed to tackle the logistics scheduling problem of prefabricated modular cabin units (PMCUs) in cruise ships. This problem can be regarded as a multi-objective fuzzy logistics collaborative scheduling problem. Hyper-heuristic algorithms effectively avoid the extensive evaluation and repair of infeasible solutions during the iterative process, which is a common issue in meta-heuristic algorithms. The GA-SLHH employs a genetic algorithm combined with a self-learning strategy as its high-level strategy (HLS), optimizing low-level heuristics (LLHs) while uncovering potential relationships between adjacent decision-making stages. LLHs utilize classic scheduling rules as solution support. Multiple sets of numerical experiments demonstrate that the GA-SLHH exhibits a stronger comprehensive optimization ability and stability when solving this problem. Finally, the validity of the GA-SLHH in addressing real-world decision-making issues in cruise ship manufacturing companies is validated through practical enterprise cases. The results of a practical enterprise case show that the scheme solved using the proposed GA-SLHH can reduce the transportation time by up to 37%.

Development and Integration of Models for Teaching Ram Breeding Soundness Examinations in Veterinary Education.

Proficiency with ram breeding soundness examinations requires competency with palpation, a skill that can be difficult to teach and assess. There are limited small ruminant clinical skills models available, despite the advantages they offer in veterinary education. We developed reusable models for teaching ram breeding soundness examinations, focusing on scrotal assessment and palpation. Then we integrated these models into a practical session where multiple clinical aspects were included. We created anatomically normal ("sound") testes using 3D modeling software before editing these to display common abnormalities ("unsound" testes). Then, we 3D printed two-part molds and cast the silicone testes. Testes were inserted into siliconized, lubricated stockings facilitating free movement during palpation. Scrotal sacs were sewn from polar fleece and suspended to mimic natural orientation in a live, standing ram. As well as for scheduled classes, we used the models as a station in our course's Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) assessment. Our models offer advantages in the veterinary education context. Their relatively low cost and durability facilitates their classification as "open access" within our skills lab for student deliberate practice outside scheduled classes. They provide a uniform student learning experience that does not rely on live animals or clinical case load and aligns with best-practice recommendations from accrediting bodies. Student engagement and OSCE outcomes were good, but going forward it would be ideal to collaborate with a program that uses live rams for teaching and assessing this skill to directly examine the impact of our models on confidence and competence.
