周邊離焦鏡片如DIMS (Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments)和H.A.L.T.

This article discusses pediatric myopia treatment and selection of mydriatics in Taiwan. Childhood myopia rate has been rising, necessitating interventions like optical correction with glasses, orthokeratology lenses, and mydriatics.

Optical correction involves progressive multifocal and bifocal lenses for myopia control. Peripheral defocus lenses like DIMS and H.A.L.T induce peripheral myopic defocus to help slow myopia progression. Multifocal contacts and orthokeratology lenses also help.

Extensively used as a mydriatic for childhood myopia in Taiwan, atropine blocks accommodation to near objects, curbing axial elongation. Side effects include pupil dilation and blurred vision. Research favors 0.05% concentration for optimal effect with atropine, but abrupt discontinuation can lead to rebound myopia.

Prevention is key. Prolonged exposure of today’s children to environments likely to cause myopia renders prevention measures, notably the development of good eye habits and healthy lifestyles, particularly important. Maintaining reading distance, taking eye breaks, and reducing device use are crucial. Regular eye exams help detect and manage myopia early.
