X-ray diffraction data for the high-pressure form of cerium metal recently published by Schaufelberger confirm that α′-Ce has the α-uranium structure as previously reported by Ellinger and Zachariasen. The pressure deduced from the α-Ce lattice constant is 9 kbar smaller than reported by Schaufelberger. At a deduced pressure of 43 kbar the unit-cell dimensions are a=4.621±0.003 Å for α-Ce and a=3.094±0.002 Å, b=6.007±0.004 Å, c=5.246 ±0.004 Å for α′-Ce with ΔV/V=−0.012.
