The Effect of Education Using Cartoon Media about Children’s Food on Increasing Mother’s Knowledge and Nutritional Status of Children with Bronchopneumonia

Bronchopneumonia is a disease that affects many children, it is even the main killer of toddlers in the world. This study aims to determine the effect of education using cartoon media about children's food on increasing mother's knowledge and nutritional status of children with bronchopneumonia aged 1-5 years in the orchid room at RSUD dr. Abdul Rivai Berau. This type of research uses a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test. A sample of 32 people using Consecutive sampling. The results showed that there was an effect of education using cartoon media on mothers' knowledge about children's food with a p value of 0.000, and there was no effect of education using cartoon media on the nutritional status of children in the Orchid Room of Dr. Abdul Rivai Hospital Berau with a p value of 0.157. So it can be interpreted that there is an effect of education using cartoon media on mother's knowledge about children's food in the Orchid Room of Dr. Abdul Rivai Hospital Berau and there is no effect of education using cartoon media on the nutritional status of children in the Orchid Room of Dr. Abdul Rivai Hospital Berau.

Application of Islamic Da'wah Functions in Cartoon Visual Media in Nussa Animation

Da'wah Islam is a communication effort aimed at influencing individuals or societies by making them aware of and convinced of the truth of Islam, as well as by making them willing to adhere to it and deepening its teachings. With the mass media (mass communication), it is hoped that they are willing to believe that Islam will guide them to the straight and true path of Allah. Dakwah can be done face-to-face or indirectly. In order to achieve the goal of da'wah, it is necessary to adapt the language and culture or customs adopted by the community. Islamic communication is a way of communicating that is Islamic in nature and that aims to convey a message or information based on the Qur'an and hadith and has the functions of information, convincing, reminding, motivating, entertainment, socializing, and being spiritual. Cartoon media is a form of graphic communication, namely an interpretive image that uses symbols to convey a message quickly and concisely. This research is carried out descriptively and qualitatively using a pragmatic approach. Research data was collected through library research. Nussa, an animated da'wah film packaged with the goal of teaching Islamic values without boring children, is one of the domestic animated films. Nussa is an animated web series that aims to help parents and children develop morality and character. Through fun stories with Muslim themes in the foundation of Islamic animation, Nussa applies Islamic communication functions so that the Islamic messages broadcast reach the audience. Stories in Nussa animation can provide information that is easily captured by children. This information becomes motivation for the audience, and besides that, it can spark discussion among the audience. Nussa's animation entertains children because the story's contents are felt to be not too heavy, but it still provides good spiritual education due to its amusing visual appearance rather than focusing solely on the message's content

Pengaruh Film Animasi Nussa dan Rara dalam Membentuk Karakter Anak Usia Dini

The development of character values ​​can be done through mass media, both print and electronic. Through electronic media such as internet, TV, radio and cartoon media. Within the scope of PAUD, animated video media can be used as a more effective and efficient classroom learning method to develop character values ​​in children. This study aims to determine the effect of the animated film Nussa and Rara in shaping the character of children aged 4-5 years in the bright cheerful early childhood education in Palembang. The method in this study uses the Pre-Experimental method with the type of One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample used in this study is the class Al children, totaling 10 children. Data collection techniques using observation at the time of treatment to determine the results given. The results of the calculation of the t-test with a level of a(0.05) and dk 10-1=9 and the result of t_count is 14.67. Thus, it can be concluded that t_count > t_table or 14.67 > 2.26 then reject Ho and accept Ha. It means that the hypothesis stating that the animated film Nussa and Rara in shaping the character of children aged 4-5 years in Palembang's smart and cheerful early childhood is accepted as true.

The Use of Cartoon Media for Junior High Students of Their Writing Ability

This research was proposed from the problem of students writing ability in the descriptive text of the eight-grade students at MTs N 1 Pekanbaru. They were not able to write in English well. The objective of this research was to find out whether there was or nor the significant effect of using cartoon media. The design of this research was Quasi-Experimental Research. The Population of this research was all of the eighth-grade students. The total number of the population was 350 students. The writer used a cluster sampling technique by taking only two classes as a sample; VIII.1 that co­nsisted of 35 students as experimental class and VIII.2 consisted of 35 students as control class. So the number of samples from two classes was 70 students. To analyze the data, the writer used an independent sample t-test. Based on the analysis of the t-test Formula, the sig. value is 0.000. It could be stated that 0.000<0.05. Then, the effect size is 0.387 categorized into a moderate level. The writer concluded that there is a significant effect of using cartoon media on students’ writing ability in the descriptive text at MTs N 1 Pekanbaru. And the biggest effect occurred on the writing ability where the effect size is 0.14 categorized into large effect.

Implementing Cartoon Media to Maximise Students’ Reading Comprehension

The objectives of this research are to find out whether there is a significant difference in the reading comprehension between students who are taught by using cartoon media and the students who are taught by using conventional media, to find out the effectiveness between cartoon media and conventional media in teaching reading comprehension. This experimental research was carried out in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Sleman in the academic year of 2018/2019. The findings of the study show that the mean scores of students who were taught by using cartoon media are higher than the scores of those who were taught by using conventional media, 68.16 > 60.91. The result of ANCOVA shows the level of significance is lower than 0.05. i.e. 0.0000 < 0.05. thus H1is accepted and Ho is rejected. It shows clearly that the use of cartoon media to teach reading comprehension is more effective than conventional media.

Peningkatan Keterampilan Menyimak Cerita Anak Melalui Media Film Kartun Pada Siswa Kelas IV SDIT Al Anwar

<p><em>This research attempts to find the effectiveness of using cartoons as medium for student’s listening. By using Classroom Action Research with Kemmis and McTaggart style, the performed steps of research are planning, action implementation, and observation, also reflection. The research is conducted in two cycles. </em></p><p><em>The research results in the student's initial capability test that is completed 50%. Later the action implementation discovers that the student’s results in listening to stories is about 66.67% completed. Then through the post-test, the 2nd cycle of the research shows that the student’s results in listening to stories is about 98% done.</em></p><p><em>Based on the comparison of those result numbers, it would be expressed that the post-test result in 2nd cycle is experiencing completeness in the study results of students. Using cartoon media in listening to lesson to stories will be able to increase the study result of students of class IV SDIT Al-Anwar.</em></p>

The Experimental Study of the Effectiveness of Teaching Speaking by Using Cartoon in the Fifth Year Students of Islamic Elementary School

This research was carried out to find out how far the achievement of speaking English lesson by using cartoon and a significant difference of the students speaking ability between the students taught by using cartoon media and those taught without using cartoon media. The research was conducted at Islamic Elementary School (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah) Lancar, Wonosobo, Central Java, Indonesia. The objects of the research were the fifth year students. This is quantitative research. Technique of sampling in this research used classified random sampling. The result of the research is the score of the post-test from the experiment group is higher (7,68) than the score of the post-test from control group (6,95). Therefore, the writer might conclude that using of cartoon media proved better result in speaking skill than students who are taught without using cartoon media. It means that there is significant difference of the students speaking skill between those using cartoon media and those who do not use cartoon in teaching speaking. Effectiveness of influenza control using non- pharmaceutical interventions at primary schools in Nakhon Phanom Province, Northeast Thailand

Background: The world is entering the post-outbreak period of the 2009 A H1N1 strain of the influenza virus. The strain is expected to continue spreading, as seasonal influenza viruses do each year. The majority of children have relatively low immunity and engage in activities at school where opportunities abound for exposure to and spreading of diseases. Objectives: We compared the effectiveness of influenza prevention by using non-pharmaceutical measures in primary schools. Methods: This study was conducted at two medium-sized primary schools in Nakhon Phanom province, Thailand. Multistage sampling was used to select students from Grades 4 to 6. The study group consisted of 230 students from the 2 schools and the control group 224 students from the 2 schools. The research included (a) 8 h of instruction on influenza-like illnesses and their prevention integrated into health promotion and physical education classes and (b) building understanding among parents and in the community. Data were analyzed for frequencies, percentages, and multiple logistic regression. Results: Non-pharmaceutical influenza interventions reduced the rate of influenza-like illnesses by 77% (AOR = 0.23, 95% CI: 0.150.36). Students who did not receive the influenza-like prevention and control traininghad a morbidity of 54.9%; whereas those who received the training had a morbidity of 23.5%. Overall, the group receiving the educational model saw a 57% reduction in its morbidity compared with the control group.The students in the intervention group who washed their hands for 20 seconds three or more times per day had a morbidity of 38.9%, which resulted in an overall reduction in morbidity of 36.4%. The morbidity rate of students who missed school because they were ill was 39.5%. When comparing training methods, the hand-washing group saw morbidity reduced by 34.7%, while simply receiving news and information from public health officials resulted in only a 29.2% reduction in morbidity. Overall, the group receiving the disease prevention and control trainingwas able to reduce morbidity by 58.7%. Conclusion: Influenza prevention education among students was integrated into the health education curriculum. Children were taught hand-washing and respiratory etiquette (i.e., covering the nose and face when sneezing, coughing, and nose-blowing). Cartoon media were used as visual teaching aids. The results from this program helped to decrease the number of cases of influenza-like illness and morbidity among students and families. Lessons from South Park: A Comic Corrective to Environmental Puritanism

This paper explores how South Park's scriptwriters, consistent with Burke's comic corrective, employ populist storylines to satirize radical environmentalists and their opponents. It analyzes three South Park episodes, examining its use of adult cartoon media from two related and optimistic perspectives: Burke's comic frame, to show how South Park acts as a comic corrective to the sometimes boorish behavior of environmental ideologues and Kazin's analysis of populism, to show how South Park's message structure resonates strongly among its key demographics. Given South Park's longevity and popularity, this paper helps us understand how negative stereotypes of environmental advocacy can be constructed in ways that may inhibit popular support for sustainability initiatives, while serving as a reminder that if environmental advocacy is to be broadly persuasive, its message, tone, and delivery must reflect widely shared American values. In this sense, this exploration can serve as a tool for encouraging productive dialog between populists and those who advocate rational care for the Earth.
