Natural occurrence of 3 , 7 -dihydroxychol-4-en-24-oic acid in hen bile.

A new C24-bile acid containing allyl alcohol grouping, 3β, 7α-dihydroxychol-4-en-24-oic acid, was isolated from hen bile and indentified by comparing with the authentic sample synthesized by TLC, IR spectra and dilution experiments of 3H-acetyl methyl ester of the compound. Its biochemical significance in chenodeoxycholic acid biogenesis was discussed.
