Dnieper regions’ industry development during the war and the need for its innovative modernization

The article analyzes the dynamics of industrial activity in the regions of the Middle Dnieper (Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Poltava, and Cherkasy Oblasts) from 2020 to 2023. These regions played a significant role in Ukraine's industrial complex before the war, which substantially worsened their economic situation. Significant destruction, losses, production curtailment, and relocation are shaping a new economic reality for regional development and impacting industrial development opportunities. The aim of the article is to analyze the dynamics and outcomes of the manufacturing industry in the Dnieper regions amidst the war and regional industrial development policy, considering the need for its innovative modernization. The analysis of the number of active business entities in the regions overall and within the industry showed a gradual adaptation of businesses to risks and a resumption of enterprise activity. However, the volume of sold products in comparable prices decreased, indicating a decline in business performance during the war. A positive aspect was the increased share of manufacturing output in the total sales volume of the regions. A negative trend was identified: a decreasing share of high-tech industrial sectors in the overall industrial structure of the Dnieper regions, which deteriorates the technological level of their economies. The analysis of development programs and tasks for the studied Dnieper regions for 2025 revealed insufficient attention to ensuring the development of the regional industrial complex in most program documents. Furthermore, innovative development and the adoption of new technologies are not currently prioritized in regional policy. This does not align with the necessary technological modernization of the Dnieper regions' economies, crucial both during the war and for post-war recovery. Directions and measures for improving regional policy aimed at the needs of innovative modernization of the regional economy are proposed.

Sustainable Supplier Selection Based on a Comparative Decision-Making Approach Under Uncertainty

Nowadays, due to the increasing awareness of sustainability and green issues worldwide, companies are forced to implement sustainable projects in their Supply Chain (SC) to maintain and increase their competitive advantage. To enhance business performance and gain a competitive edge, it is crucial to select green and sustainable suppliers in the supply chain, as they play a vital role in executing sustainable projects. Therefore, the research was conducted to select sustainable suppliers in the SC. Initially, a list of indicators for selecting sustainable suppliers was extracted, and these indicators were adjusted and finalized using the fuzzy Delphi technique. Also, the Step-wise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis (SWARA) technique was used for weighting, and the Fuzzy Weighted Aggregates Sum-Product Assessment (F-WASPAS) technique was used for prioritizing suppliers. In addition, the robustness of the findings was examined using a comparative analysis of different decision methods in a fuzzy environment. The weighting results showed that the product price, transportation cost, and green design and purchasing indicators were of the highest importance, respectively. Moreover, the results of the supplier ranking revealed that the first supplier had the highest priority.

STRATEGIC DIPLOMACY IN ACCOUNTING AND FINANCIAL LITERACY FOR ENTREPRENEURIAL GROWTH

Financial literacy is a critical factor in entrepreneurial success, influencing financial decision-making, business sustainability, and economic growth. However, many entrepreneurs lacked the necessary accounting and financial skills to navigate complex financial environments effectively. This study examined strategic diplomacy in accounting and financial literacy for entrepreneurial growth, exploring the role of financial knowledge in business sustainability, risk management, and profitability. Despite the increasing emphasis on financial literacy, many entrepreneurs still struggled with financial planning, investment strategies, and access to funding, leading to poor financial management and business failure. The study is justified by the need to bridge financial literacy gaps and provide policy-driven solutions for empowering entrepreneurs. It is significant because it highlighted the importance of structured financial education, contributing to business success, economic stability, and job creation. The scope covered entrepreneurs across various industries, focusing on their financial knowledge and its impact on business performance. The study is anchored on Resource-based view (RBV) theory to analyse the research. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with 500 entrepreneurs. Findings revealed that while many entrepreneurs possessed moderate financial literacy, significant gaps remained in financial risk management, investment strategies, and loan accessibility. The study recommended integrating financial literacy training into entrepreneurial programmes, expanding digital financial education, and establishing financial advisory centres. In conclusion, strategic financial diplomacy is crucial for fostering a financially literate entrepreneurial ecosystem. Policymakers must prioritise financial education initiatives to enhance business growth and economic development.

Analyzing the Customer Journey through Data Analytics

The quantitative content analysis identified five underlying themes of the customer journey, namely, service satisfaction, failure and recovery, co-creation, customer response, channels and technological disruption. The results section reviewed and discussed each theme and its sub-themes in turn. The review identified important gaps in the literature related to the key stages of a customer journey. Customer Journey Mapping (CJM) is pivotal for understanding and enhancing customer experiences across touchpoints. The integration of real-time data analytics into CJM has transformed this traditionally static tool into a dynamic framework capable of tracking and optimizing customer interactions. This paper explores the methodologies, tools, and benefits of combining real-time data analytics with CJM. The discussion includes a comprehensive review of related literature, implementation strategies, challenges, and future directions. This paper argues that real-time data analytics enhances CJM by enabling continuous adaptation to customer behaviour’s, resulting in improved customer satisfaction and business performance. Understanding and enhancing customer experiences has emerged as a central focus for businesses seeking to remain competitive in today’s dynamic market landscape. Customer Journey Mapping (CJM), a widely used methodology, provides a structured approach to visualizing the customer's interactions across various touchpoints with a business. The customer journey is becoming more complex due to digitization of business processes, broadening the gap between the proposed journey and the journey that is actually experienced by customers. Customer Journey Analytics (CJA) aims to detect and analyse pain points in the journey in order to improve the customer experience. This study proposes an extended version of the Customer Journey Mapping (CJM) model, to measure the impact of different types of touchpoints along the customer journey on customer experience, and to apply process mining to gain more insight in the gap between proposed and actual journeys. Moreover, this model is used to develop dedicated CJA based on process mining techniques. A case study on e-commerce applies the CJM-model in practice and shows how the combination of process mining techniques can answer the analysis questions that arise in customer journey management. This research contributes to both academic discourse and managerial practice by offering actionable insights into how brands can ethically and effectively engage with digital consumers. It underscores the necessity for marketers to balance technological innovation with consumer trust and transparency. Ultimately, this study provides a robust framework for understanding the digital consumer psyche and offers strategic recommendations for navigating the rapidly evolving landscape of social media marketing.

From Corporate Social Responsibility to Employee Mental Well‐Being: The Differential Role of Social and Psychological Capital in Companies' Rural Depopulation Areas

ABSTRACTIn response to the demographic issue posed by rural depopulation, literature has emphasized the necessity of exploring how corporate social responsibility (CSR) improves employees' mental well‐being and strengthens the competitiveness and development of rural enterprises, thereby attracting and retaining residents in vulnerable areas. This study examines how CSR fosters social and psychological capital, leading to improved mental well‐being among employees. Data were collected through an online survey (n = 277) targeting employees and residents of rural businesses in municipalities facing depopulation risk. The results show that CSR has a positive and significant influence on employees' social and psychological capital. Social and psychological capital positively and significantly impacts employees' mental well‐being. However, CSR significantly influences well‐being only when it is mediated by social and psychological capital. This study highlights the importance of CSR management in generating high levels of social and psychological capital. It also contributes to human resource management by identifying social and psychological capital as key mechanisms for achieving higher levels of employee mental well‐being and ensuring the positive impact of CSR. These insights provide valuable guidance for managers in implementing initiatives to improve business performance and address social challenges.

Examining the Impact of Covid-19 on the Performance of the Informal Sector Businesses in the Town of Eenhana Ohangwena Region Namibia

The aim of this study was to examine the impact of COVID-19 on the performance of the informal sector businesses in the town of Eenhana, Ohangwena Region in Namibia. The study adopted the mixed methods approach for data collection and analysis. Quantitative data was collected using a questionnaire. The qualitative data was collected using an interview guide with non-structured questions. Ninety-six respondents involved in the survey were sampled through the convenience sampling method. Nine respondents to the interview were selected through purposive sampling. Findings of this study show that COVID-19 had, in most instances, a negative impact on the performance of the informal sector businesses in the town of Eenhana. Informal businesses suffered major decreases in revenue and profits. There was also loss of employment and livelihoods. While some informal businesses have found ways of coping, many have not yet recovered to pre- COVID-19 period levels. The major impact was attributed to lockdowns, the physical attributes of the town, social distancing requirements and imposition of curfews. The study recommends that informal sector businesses should be adaptive to the changing business environment, pandemic or no pandemic. Post COVID-19, it is recommended that the informal sector builds resilience to pandemic shocks. The government should be proactive in putting measures in place to reduce the impact of pandemics in informal market places. This includes developing and disseminating sector- and occupation-specific health guidelines; rapidly extending social health protection and adjusting existing social protection schemes to guarantee access to affordable health care; compensation for loss of income via different programs, including unemployment benefits, food support, universal pensions, child benefits, social assistance programs, and one-off payments. It should also implement measures to maintain informal employment through schemes such as grants, subsidised loans, grace periods on outstanding loans and debt rescheduling aimed at overcoming liquidity crunches, and waivers or deferred payments for public services.
