A turbulent eddy entrainment burning model is considered to be suitable for simulation of the combustion in a spark-ignition engine. The concept is based on the Blizard and Tabaczyski model. In this study, the turbulent eddy entrainment burning model was extended to reproduce three-dimensional flame propagation. This model was examined under various conditions of swirl intensity and ignition location. The computed results for the burned mass fraction, the burn duration and the flame propagation were in good agreement with the experimental ones. Effects of ignition location and swirl intensity on the combustion process were investigated using the combustion model.
