TO THE ISSUE OF EQUIPPING A CATEGORY O2 TRAILER TRAIN

Summary. In recent years, enterprises and private manufacturers of Ukraine have mastered the production of a wide range of trailers. Today, trailer manufacturers offer a wide range of various designs, including those with large dimensions and strong sides. Thanks to this, the devices can transport not only bulky goods, but also those that are not recommended for transportation in the car cabin. The trailer, in particular a multifunctional one, will become indispensable for the transportation of construction materials, the removal of garbage and other waste after repairs, the transportation of heavy equipment, office and household furniture, etc. In the production of multi-functional trailers of the PVBF type, the main component products (running and braking systems, coupling devices, parking risers, winches, element base for fixing sides and doors, etc.) manufactured by the companies "Knott", "AI-Ko Kober", " Reynolds transport systems (Europe)", "Aluvan", etc., which meet modern certification requirements. For these trailers, the general characteristics of the mass and dimensional parameters of the five main groups of the standard size series, which differ in gross weight (1500, 2000,……3500 kg) and trailer base (2500...5000 mm), are defined. Taking into account that the weight of the trailer should not exceed the weight of the towing vehicle, you can choose your own towing vehicle for each group of the size series. When choosing a traction vehicle, you should proceed from the condition of ensuring the movement of the road train at maximum speed. Under this condition, the maximum engine power of the traction vehicle for a road train with a trailer weight of 1,500 to 3,500 kg is determined. The obtained power of the motor train engine for the entire standard-sized series of trailers is significantly less than the real power of the traction vehicle engine. Therefore, the traction vehicle must be selected based on mass indicators from the vehicles that are operated in Ukraine. High-Performance Computing Analysis and Location Selection of Logistics Distribution Center Space Based on Whale Optimization Algorithm.

As a meta-heuristic algorithm based on swarm intelligence, the WOA algorithm has few control parameters and searches for the optimal solution by encircling the prey, searching for the prey, and attacking the bubble net. During the whole process, only two internal parameters A and C are utilized for the control of the exploration and development process. BWOA is simple to implement. In the process of algorithm execution, the initial population, global exploration, and local development stages have shortcomings. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the WOA algorithm. Based on WOA, this study conducts a high-performance computing analysis and location selection of logistics distribution center space. It is concluded that: (1) by using the combination of direct logistics distribution and hierarchical logistics distribution, the WOA algorithm optimizes the cross selection strategy, the population fitness S-LO is improved, the quality of LA is guaranteed, and the chaotic S-LO mapping eliminates inferior individuals in the population. Direct distribution is carried out for bulky goods and important distribution customers, and hierarchical logistics distribution is used for customers in intensive logistics distribution destinations. (2) WOA uses the second reverse learning, chaotic mapping, and logistic chaotic mapping to improve the location update mode. The direct distribution method is mostly used for the logistics business with short journeys, fixed distribution points, and more goods delivered at one time, and logistics enterprises do not need to store and distribute goods. The uniform ergodicity of the Tent chaotic map and logistic chaotic map is improved. Ka adaptive inertia weights are a good complement to optimize the limitations of the Ao whale algorithm. (3) The inertia weight of the levy flight behavior can play a powerful role in balancing the global exploration ability and optimization performance of the intelligent algorithm. The long-term short-distance search of HED and the long-distance jump of KVAR are combined. Variant individuals undergo vector synthesis. It reduces the construction and operation costs of logistics sites and is suitable for logistics distribution under specific conditions.

Design of a Sustainable Last Mile in Urban Logistics—A Systematic Literature Review

This paper provides a systematic and up-to-date review and classification of 87 studies on green last-mile business for sustainable management. In particular, the most important study areas and results are highlighted and an outlook on future research opportunities in the field of sustainable stock management is given. Sustainability in logistics depends on many factors, and elementary differences in the orientation of the logistics sector can bring further challenges. This is shown by the number of published papers. This paper examines the literature that does not focus on courier, express or parcel delivery (CEP). For this purpose, a systematic literature search was conducted on the topic of sustainability in the last-mile business. Publications for the period from 2014 to 2021 were identified as significant. It becomes clear that the logistics industry must further differentiate itself to be able to act in a future-oriented manner. The effects of the logistics industry and the technologies used in it have far-reaching consequences for social coexistence and should therefore be included. Challenges lie not only with logistics companies, but also with consumers and government authorities. In the paper it becomes clear that the logistics concept of the last mile is applied in all forms, but the research area of one-person delivery or two-person delivery is on a different level. Here, the concept of two-person delivery will be pursued further, as it functions similarly to a CEP service provider, but the framework conditions differ greatly. The two-person loading system makes it possible to transport large and bulky goods such as furniture without the risk of damage during delivery. Furthermore, the specifics of sustainable management of the last mile as well as the limits of the topic are discussed. This should stimulate future research.

The issues of stability and controllability of cars and road trains (ATZ) in connection with their practical importance have been studied by many researchers. If the issues of transportation of bulky goods are studied well enough, then for the transportation of light cargo, which uses low-capacity road trains with simple single- or two-axle trailers, the issues of stability are not fully studied. Recommendations for changing the design parameters to improve a particular type of stability are different and sometimes contradict the requirements for other performance of the car, in particular, its smoothness and passability. Qualitative assessment of stability is performed on the basis of the general theory of stability of motion AM Lyapunov. Steady motion according to Lyapunov is realized in a previously unknown region of initial perturbations, which are called the region of attraction of undisturbed motion. There is a problem of defining the boundaries of this area. To solve it, the system of equations of plane-parallel motion of a road train with a trailer of category O1 was improved, from which the critical speed of rectilinear motion and the rate of oscillation instability were determined, and the factors influencing its numerical value were analyzed. The analysis of calculations showed that in the event of perturbation at speeds up to 31 m / s (30.8 m / s) the nature of changes in the lateral and angular velocities of the traction vehicle during the transient process is extinguished. Under the same conditions, when the velocity increases above 31 m / s (31.5 m / s), the nature of the change in lateral and angular velocities also fades, but there are fluctuations. At increase in speed to 32 m / s fluctuations of parameters of movement will be divergent that will lead to loss of stability and impossibility of the further movement. This movement should be considered unstable, which should be avoided. The stability of motion can be judged to a greater extent by the magnitude of the lateral accelerations acting in the center of mass of the individual links. The stability of the road train under consideration at nominal parameters of loading, air pressure in tires of all wheels, symmetrical loading of the trailer, loading on the traction coupling device within 500 N is provided, in particular critical speed of rectilinear movement made 33,97 m / s. oscillating instability 31.5 m / s), which is much higher than the normalized value of the maximum speed for road trains with trailers of category O1 (25 m / s), the maximum lateral acceleration when performing maneuvers such as circular motion, steering wheel jerk and "shift" is not exceeded the maximum allowable 0.45g.

A Review Study on Bicomponent (Bico) Fibre/ Filament

Bi-component fibers are fibers that in a single fiber consist of two distinct raw material components. It is made by simultaneously spinning two compositions in each capillary of the spinneret. Core-sheath (C/S), side-by-side (S/S), segmented-pie (orange) and islands in-the-sea (I/S) are the most common types of bico fibers. The growing demand for non-woven fabrics is one of the growth drivers of the global bi-component fiber industry. In addition, bico fibers are also used in the manufacture of bulky goods, microfiber fabrics, advanced textiles, etc. Various types of commercial bico fibers as well as bico fiber fabrics are manufactured by many companies around the world. However, different aspects of bico fibers, their suitability in various fields of application, and some commercially available bico fibers are briefly reviewed in this paper.

In modern conditions of operation of military vehicles in the technical units of military units, there are difficulties in determining the ability of the repair bodies of these units for maintenance and repair of military vehicles. Accordingly, there are difficulties in making planned maintenance decisions, namely: determining the number of daily maintenance posts, numbered maintenance, and maintenance.The aim of the article is to find approaches to automate the processes of management of maintenance and repair of military vehicles, with further implementation.Hardware-software (automated) complex in case of its application allows to collect statistics of repair works by types of equipment (groups of operation) and to automatically calculate forecasts of failures of equipment in armies, its assembly units, units, and details. The complex also allows you to accumulate a history of procurement and receiving of the necessary spare parts, calculating it’s and automatically provide with the necessary information on possible procurement options to the system operator.The automation of the technological process is realized by the decision-making algorithm based on the processing of the initial data concerning the object and the environment. An example of decision-making automation are operations in the field of operation of rolling stock of trucks, where the algorithm for selecting road trains for the transport of bulky goods in order to minimize energy costs for transportation is described.Adaptation of the provided information to the peculiarities of the functioning of the military department will increase the efficiency of maintenance and repair work, as well as reduce the financial costs of organizing the production and technical base of the repair unit of the military unit to perform various types of repairs.

DETERMINATION OF PERFORMANCE INDICATORS OF THE TRUCK KrAZ-6510TE

In any economy there is a need for the bulky goods transportation which cannot be divided into smaller parts. Such cargoes include building structures, elements of industrial equipment, tracked or wheeled construction and agricultural machinery, heavy armored military vehicles. In any case, tractor-semitrailer should provide fast delivery of goods with minimal fuel consumption. In order to guarantee the goods delivery, tractor-semitrailers must be able to overcome the existing roads broken grade and be capable to tow a semi-trailer in off-road conditions. These properties are especially important for military equipment transportation. The important factor that determines a tractor-semitrailer mobility is its gradeability. The purpose of this work is to improve a tractor-semitrailer mobility with tractor units manufactured at PJSC “AutoKrAZ” by increasing the tractor-semitrailer gradeability. The customer requirements for a new tractor are determined by the maximizing the grade to 18°. The analysis of the characteristics of modern tractor-semitrailers for heavy haulage has shown that the highest rate of this grade is 16.7°. The factors determining the limiting gradeability value were analyzed, based on the tractor-semitrailer with a KrAZ-6510TE tractor and a semi-trailer with a full weight of 80 t. It has been developed a mathematical model to investigate the tractor and semi-trailer axles vertical reactions distribution on the tractor-semitrailer friction performances. The mathematical model has allowed to calculate the gradeability value that the tractor-semitrailer can overcome in case of wheels and road surface friction value and the tractive force magnitude from the engine. The mathematical model adequacy was confirmed by comparing the calculations results with the data of factory tests. The analysis showed that on a dry road the KrAZ-6510TE tractor with a 80 t gross weight semitrailer is capable to climb a gradient of 14,35 ° with its coupling mass full use condition. The engine's maximum torque allows the tractor-semitrailer to overcome a gradient of 10.45° It has been determined the ways to improve the design of the KrAZ-6510TE tractor to increase its gradeability. Analysis of the current situation and development trend of the international cargo UAVs market

The article presents analysis of the current situation and development trends of the international UAVs cargo market. It is shown that the UAVs market has made a transition from a stage of studying technologies to commercial operation and implementation of finished products. Nowadays it is at the stage of rapid growth. However, a global market for cargo UAVs and commercial services on their basis for transporting bulky goods is still at the early stage of commercial development. At the same time, the trend for the development of cargo UAVs with the large carrying capacity corresponds to the analysis results of the global air cargo market.

Selecting the design parameters of hydrostatic control system for a long-base truck train

For the delivery of long and bulky goods today long trailer trucks are used. In order to comply with the regulated maneuverability indicators, the semi-trailer of the truck train must be equipped with swiveling axles and an appropriate control system. Analysis of control systems for long-base truck trains showed that the most common today are hydro-volume control systems. The article describes the hydro volume control system of the pivot axles of the long-base truck train. The kinematic schemes and the description of the method for calculating the design parameters of the hydrostatic control system of a long-base truck are given.

Rivers and ports in transport history of Cameroon, 1916-1961

In direct contrast to Europe, Asia and North America, Africa has very few navigable rivers. This paper focuses on the preponderant role played by water transport in the form of rivers and ports during the colonial period. Although not blessed with much navigable rivers and natural deep ports, the Colonial administration as well as the population of Cameroon depended so much on rivers and ports for their physical mobility, transportation of bulky goods, mails migration and above all European consumer goods which came in from Europe and were head loaded into the hinterlands. Therefore rivers and ports played economic, social and political roles. Despite these important roles, the place of rivers and ports has been relegated to footnotes in historical narratives of Cameroon. This paper therefore, aims at lifting rivers and ports from the footnotes of Cameroon history into the text. It confronts the importance of such a technological system to both the colonial administration and the indigenous population. What were the type of goods that were transported via rivers and ports? More crucial to the essay is the importance of the ports in the development of the cities and the migration of people into areas where ports were found. In what ways do we linked the ports and rivers to the global mobility of goods and modernity?

Connecting African urban areas: airline networks and intra-Sub-Saharan trade

Despite efforts to enhance the efficiency of the African air transportation sector through such actions the Yamoussoukro Decision, African represents less than 2% of the world’s air passenger kilometers. This is despite the fact that air transportation can act as a means of transporting traded goods directly (including the individuals that are the “product” of tourism) and provide complementary services of labor mobility for those engaged in the production of more bulky goods that are shipped by land and maritime modes. We examine the network of intra-Sub-Saharan African airline connections to highlight the differential access enjoyed by the region’s largest cities. Second, we develop a quantitative framework linking the availability of air connections to the main international trade flows in sub-Sahara Africa. Our findings suggest that, although there is a positive link between air transportation and economic development in Africa, the multilateral efforts at reducing institutional impediments to more open aviation markets have not produced significant results.

Hydraulic Parts Designed for Bulky Goods Hydraulic Jacking Subsystem

In this paper, the major design is the jacking of bulky goods, jacking subsystem of translation system and traction cylinder in translation subsystem. The control of hydraulic system makes bulky goods reach a height, which are drawn by the traction hydraulic cylinder on anchor or sliding load car to load or unload the ship. This equipment can effectively reduce the transportation cost and it can be used to unload a variety of bulky goods.

Fossil and biogenic CO2 from waste incineration based on a yearlong radiocarbon study

We describe the first long-term implementation of the radiocarbon (14C) method to study the share of biogenic (%Bio C) and fossil (%Fos C) carbon in combustion CO2. At five Swiss incinerators, a total of 24 three-week measurement campaigns were performed over 1year. Temporally averaged bag samples were analyzed for 14CO2 by accelerator mass spectrometry. Significant differences between the plants in the share of fossil CO2 were observed, with annual mean values from 43.4±3.9% to 54.5±3.1%. Variations can be explained by the waste composition of the respective plant. Based on our dataset, an average value of 48±4%Fos C was determined for waste incineration in Switzerland. No clear annual trend in %Fos C was observed for four of the monitored incinerators, while one incinerator showed considerable variations, which are likely due to the separation and temporary storage of bulky goods.

Financial Performance of Selected Air Transport Companies in India

Air transport is the most modern, the quickest and the latest addition to the modes of transport. Because of speed with which aeroplanes can fly, travel by air is becoming increasingly popular. As far as the world trade is concerned it is still dominated by sea transport because air transport is very expensive and is also unsuitable for carrying heavy, bulky goods. However, transportation of high value light goods and perishable goods is increasingly being done by air transport. The financial health of companies declined despite liberal Government patronage, particularly from 1949, and an upward trend in air cargo and passenger traffic. The trend, however, was not in keeping with the expectations of these airlines which had gone on an expansion spree during the post-World War II period, acquiring aircraft ad spares. The Government set up the Air Traffic Enquiry Committee in 1950 to look into the problems of the airline. Though the Committee found no justification for nationalization of airlines, it favored their voluntary merger. Such a merger, however, was not welcomed by the airlines

Is the downturn in maquiladora employment cyclical or structural?

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of cyclical and structural factors on the decline of maquiladora employment. In addition to the US industrial production, the cyclical factors examined are relative Mexican US wages, the Mexican exchange rate relative to the US, and US foreign direct investment (FDI). The paper also explores the effect of competition from China, a structural effect, on the decline of maquiladora employment.Design/methodology/approachA vector error correction (VEC) model of maquila employment for the period 1980‐2002 is estimated and controlled for US industrial production, FDI flows, relative wage rates of Mexico and USA. To empirically investigate the structural differences of lower costs in Mexico vs China a seemingly unrelated regression (SUR) is estimated across three sectors: apparel and textile, electronic, and transportation.FindingsFrom the VEC maquila employment model it is found that, in addition to the strong effect of US industrial production on the maquila employment, there exist significant short‐ and long‐run effects of Mexico US exchange rate and Mexican wages relative to USA on maquila employment. The sectoral (SUR) model shows that competition from China has a bigger adverse effect on relatively labor‐intensive good and commodities which are cheaper to transport (such as textiles) over more bulky transportation goods. The transportation sector has a location advantage, though is more sensitive to the cyclical fluctuations in the US industrial production.Research limitations/implicationsFuture research should investigate the role of USA and world FDI exclusively into Mexico and maquiladora sector.Practical implicationsWell designed controls, output choice, and location advantage are important for the growth and viability of small scale manufacturing industries.Originality/valueThe VEC model for maquila employment and the SUR framework across main maquila sectors is the first to account for wages, exchange rate, and FDI in addition to the US industrial production in understanding the decline in maquiladora employment.

An Integrated Atmospheric Microwave Plasma Source

AbstractAtmospheric plasma processes become more and more popular in recent times. A new integrated atmospheric plasma source is presented which consists of a microwave resonator combined with a solid‐state power oscillator. This allows for a very compact and efficient design of a microwave plasma source without external microwave power supply and matching units. Hydrophobic polymers have to be activated to ensure an effective painting or glueing. The performance of this new plasma source has been investigated with respect to surface activation depending on axial and radial distance to the substrate, process time, process gas, and flow velocity. Several polymeric materials have been compared. Polyethylene, polyamide, polystyrene, polypropylene, polycarbonate, and polytetrafluorineethylene show good activation results. This tool can be used especially for bulky goods and/or mass products, when a vacuum process is not possible or too expensive.

Premium E-Grocery: Exploring Value in Logistics Integrated Service Solutions

E-grocery is gradually becoming viable or a necessity for many families. Yet, most e-supermarkets are seen as providers of low value staple and bulky goods mainly. While each store has a large number of SKU available, these products are mainly necessity goods with low marginal value for hedonistic consumption. A need to acquire diverse products (e.g., organic), premium priced products (e.g., wine) for special occasions (e.g., anniversary, birthday), or products just for health related reasons (e.g., allergies, diabetes) are yet to be served via one-stop e-tailers. In this paper, we design a mathematical model that takes into account consumers' geo-demographics and multi-product sourcing capacity for creating critical mass and profit. Our mathematical model is a variant of Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows (CVRPTW), which we extend by adding intermediate locations for trucks to meet and exchange goods. We illustrate our model for the city of Istanbul using GIS maps, and discuss its various extensions as well as managerial implications.

On the conservation of distance in international trade

Using disaggregated bilateral trade data, we find that the elasticity of trade to distance increased (in absolute value) by about 10% since 1985. To explore the reasons for this shift, we decompose the change in the distance elasticity of trade into the part due to a shift in the composition of trade among industries and the part due to a change in the distance sensitivity within industries. We find that adjustment in the composition of trade had little effect, but for 40% of industries distance became more important, with nearly all of the remaining industries showing no significant change. We explore alternative hypotheses as to why the elasticity of trade to distance increased in some industries. We find that homogeneous goods, bulky goods, and high tariff goods became significantly more distance sensitive. In contrast, the evidence implies that changes in tariffs and freight costs have reduced the importance of distance on trade. We conclude that the increase in the importance of distance over time is related to the substitutability of goods and the level of trade costs, but not to changes in tariffs or freight costs.
