Determination of M1/M2 Macrophage Polarization in Ipsilateral and Contralateral Rat Testis Tissue Following Unilateral Torsion/Detorsion

The present study investigates the changes in M1/M2 macrophage polarization resulting from unilateral testicular torsion in the bilateral testis. The study sample included 63 male Sprague–Dawley rats, which were randomly divided into nine groups (n = 7): Control, Sham (4 h (4 h), 24 h, 7 days (7d), 14d), and Torsion/Detorsion (T/D) (4 h, 24 h, 7d, 14d). Histopathological evaluations revealed no changes in the Sham groups, while T/D was noted to cause edema, vascular occlusion, disruption of seminiferous tubule epithelial organization, germ cell abnormalities and structural anomalies in the experimental rats, the severity and extent of which increased from 4 h to 14d after T/D. The Cosentino scores used to determine the degree of histological damage were consistent with the histopathological findings in all groups, while the Johnsen scores, as a marker of spermatogenesis, were lower in the T/D groups. Seminiferous tubule diameters and germinal epithelial thickness decreased significantly in parallel with increased tubule damage in the ipsilateral testicles. Testicular torsion significantly affected sperm motility, with significant reductions observed in the T/D 7d and T/D 14d groups. A hormone profile analysis revealed decreased testosterone levels in both the Sham and T/D groups when compared to the Controls. CD68 and CD163 immunoreactivities, as M1 and M2 macrophage surface markers, were determined in the testicular tissue using the avidin–biotin-peroxidase complex method. T/D interventions caused M1/M2 macrophage polarization changes and increased M1 macrophages, particularly in contralateral testicular tissue. The increase in M1 macrophages in contralateral testicular tissue following T/D in the present study suggests that cell processes, including macrophages, may play an important role in contralateral testicular injury.

Prognostic significance of Ezrin expression in colorectal carcinoma

Objectives This study aimed to evaluate the immunohistochemical expression of Ezrin in various histopathological types of colorectal carcinoma, and to examine its association with various clinicopathological features and so evaluate its prognostic significance. Background Colorectal cancer is considered one of the most common cancers worldwide, it developed because of the cumulative effect of sequential genetic alterations. Thus, more extensive studies are needed to demonstrate the molecular mechanism of colorectal cancer initiation and progression. Ezrin gene has an important role in cell movement, migration, mitosis, and other physiological functions, and is involved in maintaining cell structure and cell motility. Its expression correlates with many human malignancies. Patients and methods Ezrin antibody immunostaining was performed using the avidin–biotin–peroxidase complex method in 204 cases of primary colorectal carcinomas, including 118 (57.8%) cases of adenocarcinoma, 56 (27.5%) cases of a mucoid carcinoma, and 30 (14.7%) cases of signet ring cell carcinoma. Evaluation of MMP-9 and iNOS expressions in sheep with encephalitic listeriosis

This study aimed to correlate Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 and iNOS expressions with the severity of histopathological findings in tissue samples taken from sheep with encephalitic listeriosis. Thus, the role of these molecules in the pathogenesis of the disease can be elucidated. After systemic necropsy, tissue samples of adult sheeps with meningoencephalitis were investigated by the culture, histopathological and immunohistochemical methods in the presence of Listeria spp. isolation from tissues was performed in accordance with the USDA-FSIS method with some modifications. Tissue samples were fixed in a 10% buffered formaldehyde solution. Following routine procedures, tissue sections at 5 μm were stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin, investigated under light microscope and photographed. Immunohistochemical staining was performed on the tissues using the avidin-biotin immune peroxidase complex method. Listeria spp. were obtained in 20 (83.3%) of 24 tissue samples with the presence of bright grey-black centred smooth colonies on Listeria Selective Agar and identified as Listeria monocytogenes through the phenotypically supportive tests. Liquefaction necrosis, purulent meningoencephalitis, perivascular cuffing, microabscesses and glial nodules were the most important histopathological findings. MMP-9 immunpositive reactions were observed in the cytoplasm of microglial cells and neurons in areas where inflammatory and necrotic areas are concentrated in medulla oblongata and pons. In perivascular cuffing areas, immune reactions in endothelial cells were detected. We detected iNOS positive reactions in the medulla oblangata and pons, especially in inflammatory cells in the microabscesses. Consequently, a positive correlation (p < 0.05) was found between MMP-9 expression and the severity of histopathological findings in sheep with encephalitic listeriosis. expression. Expression of PCNA, MMP-9, p53, Bax and Bcl-2 in canine transmissible venereal tumors

In this study, we aimed to evaluate the proliferative, metastatic and apoptotic capacities of TVT cases, which are in various phases of development, by using immunohistochemical markers. The material of this study consisted of twelve female and six male dogs diagnosed with TVT brought to our department between 2007 and 2020 years. Diff-quick staining was applied to the smear taken from tumoral masses for cytological examinations. Tumoral tissues from dogs were fixed in a 10% neutral buffered formaldehyde solution. After routine tissue procedures Hematoxylin & Eosin stain was applied to the sections. Tissue sections were investigated under a light microscope and photographed. Immunohistochemical staining was performed on the tissues using the avidin-biotin immune peroxidase complex method. As a result of macroscopic, cytological and histopathological examinations, TVT positive cases were divided into three according to their developmental stages. While the expression of PCNA, MMP-9, mutant p53 and Bcl-2 increased significantly in progressive cases compared to regressive and stable cases, Bax expression increased significantly in regressive cases compared to progressive and stable cases. In conclusion, we thought that the mentioned markers are very useful for understanding the prognosis of TVT, the tumor aggressiveness and the survival of the malignant cells.

Comparison of Peroxidase‐Anti‐Peroxidase and Avidin‐Biotin‐Peroxidase Complex (ABC) Immunohistochemical Staining Procedures for Tryptophan Hydroxylase in Rat Brain

The neurotransmitter serotonin (5‐hydroxytryptamine; 5‐HT) plays a key role in sleep, feeding behavior, motor activity and, importantly, mood and the mechanism of action of antidepressant drugs. Immunohistochemistry for tryptophan hydroxylase (TpOH), the synthetic enzyme for 5‐HT, can be used to identify 5‐HT neurons in the central nervous system. As part of a project examining 5‐HT in brain function in the rat, we compared 2 indirect methods of visualizing primary antibodies against TpOH, a peroxidase‐anti‐peroxidase (PAP) method and the more sensitive avidin‐biotin‐peroxidase (ABC) procedure.A cryostat microtome was used to cut 40 micron sections from brains from rats transcardially perfused with 0.9% saline and 4% p‐formaldehyde in 0.1 M phosphate buffer (PB). Brains were post‐fixed 24 h in p‐formaldehyde and cryoprotected in 20% sucrose in 0.1 M PB. Sections were washed in phosphate‐buffered saline (PBS) before and between all steps. Tissues were treated with 0.4% H2O2 in methanol for 20 min to quench endogenous peroxidase activity and 1% sodium borohydride in 0.1 M PB for 30 min to enhance permeability of the tissue and improve staining quality. Sections were then treated with 1% normal donkey (PAP method) or horse (ABC method) serum in PBS with 0.2% Triton X‐100 detergent for 1 h and then 0.8% bovine serum albumin in PBS for 40 min. Tissues were incubated for 48 h in mouse monoclonal anti‐TpOH antibody (Sigma, 1:1000) in PBS with 0.3% Triton X‐100 and serum. Some sections were incubated without the primary antibody (omit negative controls). For the PAP protocol, tissues were treated with donkey anti‐mouse antibody (Jackson; 1:100) and then mouse PAP (Jackson; 1:400), both in PBS with 0.3% Triton X‐100 for 1 h. For the ABC protocol, tissues were treated with biotinylated horse anti‐mouse antibody and then avidin‐biotin‐peroxidase complex (Vector Elite kit), both in PBS with 0.3% Triton X‐100 and serum for 1 h. All sections were reacted with 0.0005% diaminobenzidine with 0.0001% H2O2 for 45 – 120 sec and mounted on gelatin‐coated slides that were coverslipped with DPX. Stained and negative control sections from both methods were examined using standard light microscopy.Staining using the PAP method was faint, homogenous and only slightly darker than negative controls. Individual neurons could not be identified. Increasing concentrations (1:500, 1:250, 1:100) of anti‐TpOH antibody had no effect on specific labeling but slightly increased background staining. This was surprising because the exact same reagents and PAP procedure has produced outstanding staining of tyrosine hydroxylase in brainstem catecholamine neurons (e.g., Muma et al., Exp. Neurology, 168:135–143, 2001). In contrast, labeling of TpOH using the ABC method was excellent. TpOH immunoreactivity was highly visible in the somata and primary dendrites of neurons in the dorsal and median raphe nuclei. Expression of epidermal growth factor-like domain 7 may be a predictive marker of the effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy for locally advanced uterine cervical cancer.

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) followed by hysterectomy may be effective for the treatment of locally advanced uterine cervical cancer and improve patient prognosis. It is important to identify markers that are able to predict whether NAC may be successful. Epidermal growth factor-like domain 7 (EGFL7) regulates vascular sprouting in blood vessel formation. In numerous types of human cancer, EGFL7 is upregulated and inhibits endothelial cell adhesion molecules, decreasing vascular tightness and, thus, increasing vascular permeability. It is considered that the overexpression of EGFL7 is able to inhibit drug delivery, resistance to apoptosis and the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition. In the current study, 63 patients with locally advanced uterine cervical cancer were reviewed and classified as stage IIIA-IIIB using the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics criteria. These patients (aged <70 years) were treated at Osaka City University Medical School Hospital, Japan, between 1995 and 2010. Tumor tissue samples were obtained by biopsy prior to NAC. The tissue samples were classified as group 1 or 2 depending on the efficacy of NAC. Surgery and radiotherapy were administered in group 1 (n=36), for which NAC was effective. In the patients of group 2 NAC was not effective, and radiotherapy alone was administered (n=27). The expression of EGFL7 and Snail was examined in paraffin-embedded tissue sample sections using the avidin-biotin peroxidase complex method. The results indicated that EGFL7 expression levels were significantly higher in group 2, as compared with group 1 (P<0.001). A similar result was observed for the expression levels of Snail (P=0.001). Group 1 exhibited significantly longer overall survival times compared with group 2 (P=0.001). The patients were also classified into a low EGFL7 expression level group (weighted score of ≤6) and a high EGFL7 expression level group (weighted score of ≥8). NAC was observed to be significantly more effective in the low EGFL7 expression level group (P<0.001), as compared with the high expression level group. The results suggest that the expression levels of EGFL7 may be a potential predictive marker of the efficacy of NAC for the treatment of locally advanced uterine cervical cancer.

Neuropeptide Y immunoreactivity in the cat claustrum: A light- and electron-microscopic investigation

The claustrum is a telencephalic nucleus located ventrolateral to the basal ganglia in the mammalian brain. It has an extensive reciprocal connectivity with most if not all of the cerebral cortex, in particular, primary sensory areas. However, despite renewed and growing interest amongst investigators, there remains a paucity of data concerning its peptidergic profile. The aim of the present study was to examine the presence, morphology, distribution and ultrastructure of neuropeptide Y-immunoreactive (NPY-ir) neurons and fibers in the claustrum of the cat. Ten adult healthy cats from both sexes were used. All animals received human and ethical treatment in accordance with the Principles of Laboratory Animal Care. Subjects were irreversibly anesthetized and transcardially perfused with fixative solution containing glutaraldehyde and paraformaldehyde. Brains were promptly removed, postfixed and sectioned. Slices were incubated with polyclonal anti-NPY antibodies according to the standard avidin–biotin–peroxidase complex method adopted by our Department of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology. NPY-ir neurons and fibers were found to be diffusely distributed throughout the claustrum, with no obvious topographic or functional patterning other than larger numbers in its central/broadest part (stereotaxic planes A12–A16). Neurons were generally classified by diameter into three sizes: small (under 17μm), medium (17–25μm) and large (over 25μm). Staining density is varied with some neurons appearing darker than others. At the electron-microscopic level NPY immunoproduct was observed within neurons, dendrites and terminal boutons, each differing relative to their ultrastructural attributes. Two types of NPY-ir synaptic boutons were found. Lastly, it is of interest to note that gender-specific differences were not observed.

Subcellular Expression of Mammary Serine Proteinase Inhibitor (MASPIN) in Locally Advance Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Objectives: Mammary serine protease inhibitor (MASPIN) has numerous interactions with tumor pathogenesis and progression. Its relationships with apoptosis and angiogenesis have proven the impact on prognosis. However, its exact role is not known and needs further work in relation to various human cancers. Current study was planned to investigate the subcellular expression of MASPIN in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and to observe its relation with tumor grade. Methods: It was a descriptive study, conducted at the Department of Morbid Anatomy and Histopathology, University of Health Sciences, Lahore. Histological diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma was confirmed in 50 cases, and expression of MASPIN was determined by avidinbiotin-peroxidase complex method of immunohistochemical staining. MASPIN expression was scored on the basis of intensity of staining and the percentage of the cells that stained positively. Data was analyzed with SPSS using appropriate statistical procedures. Results: Mean age of the patients was 56.84 ± 1.58 years with male to female ratio 1.3:1. All tumors were locally advancing (Stage III). Histologically, 58% tumors were Grade 1, other grades were less common. MASPIN expression was observed in 32 (64%) cases, and it was localized to the cytoplasm of the tumor cells in all cases. Among the positive cases, its expression was focal in 15 (44.1%), diffuse but moderate in 13 (38.2%) and diffuse and intense in 6(17.7%) cases. MASPIN expression was significantly associated (P: 0.043) and negatively correlated (P: 0.034) with tumor grade. Conclusions: MASPIN expression was observed in the majority of OSCC. However, it was localized to the cytoplasm of tumor cells in all cases. Loss of MASPIN expression was observed more frequently in poorly differentiated cancers.

Relationship between Major Histocompatibility Complex Class I Expression and Prognosis in Canine Mammary Gland Tumors

ABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to evaluate MHC class I expression and prognosis using tumor tissues surgically removed from 9 dogs with mammary gland carcinomas and from 13 dogs with complex carcinomas. We assessed MHC class I expression and its correlation with tumor size, B2M expression, infiltration of lymphocytes, histological grade and prognosis. Hematoxylin and eosin-stained sections were histologically graded using the Elston and Ellis grading method. MHC class I expression on tumor cells was evaluated using the avidin-biotin peroxidase complex method. Loss of MHC class I expression from canine mammary gland carcinomas was significantly correlated with poor prognosis (P<0.05). Loss of MHC class I expression showed no association with poor prognosis in canine mammary gland complex carcinomas, because the data were not balanced. Only 1 of 13 (7.6%) canine mammary gland complex carcinomas showed loss of MHC class I expression. All 13 of these dogs showed good prognosis. Thus, the low frequency of MHC class I expression loss from canine mammary gland complex carcinomas may be associated with good prognosis. Taken together, these results suggest that loss of MHC class I expression may be associated with poor prognosis in canine mammary gland carcinomas.

Pathomorphological, immunohistochemical and bacteriological findings in budgerigars (Melopsittacus undulatus) naturally infected with S. Gallinarum

The present study describes the pathological and bacteriological findings and diagnosis by immunoperoxidase and immunofluorescence methods in budgerigars (Melopsittacus undulatus) naturally infected with Salmonella gallinarum obtained from three commercial budgerigar rearing farms. The course of the disease in young budgerigars was peracute or acute, whereas in adult budgerigars the disease was acute or chronic. Clinically, yellow–white diarrhoea was observed in the young budgerigars with the acute form. In the adult budgerigars with the acute and chronic forms, a decrease in feed and water consumption with loss in body condition together with greenish-yellow diarrhoea was generally noted. Peritonitis and pericarditis were the most common findings in young budgerigars at necropsy, while in adult budgerigars scattered grey–white necrotic foci were found in the livers. Histopathologically, the lesions in young budgerigars were characterized with fibrinonecrotic peritonitis and/or pericarditis and necrotic hepatitis. In adult budgerigars with acute infection, hepatic necrosis with focal heterophil infiltration was present; whilst lesions in the chronic cases were granulomatous in nature with the infiltration of macrophages, lymphocytes and histiocytes. For the detection of S. Gallinarum in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues, the avidin–biotin peroxidase complex and immunofluorescence methods were used. Both methods showed bacteria to be localized in the liver, kidney, peritoneum, heart, spleen and intestines of both young and adult budgerigars. The results of the present study indicate that the avidin–biotin peroxidase complex method was more sensitive than the immunofluorescence method in the detection of the bacteria.

Expression of mitotic-arrest deficiency 2 predicts the efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy for locally advanced uterine cervical cancer

We previously reported satisfactory therapeutic results when using cisplatin-based cyclic balloon-occluded arterial infusion chemotherapy as neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC), which enabled hysterectomy to be performed for patients with locally advanced cervical cancer. Mitotic arrest deficiency 2 (MAD2) is a key component of the mitotic spindle checkpoint pathway. The expression of MAD2 is associated with tumor progression and resistance to chemotherapy. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to examine whether the expression of MAD2 is related to the efficacy of NAC for locally advanced uterine cervical cancer. We reviewed 53 cases of locally advanced uterine cervical cancer (stage IIIa-IIIb; based on the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics criteria). These patients were initially treated at Osaka City University Medical School Hospital, Japan, from 1995 to 2008 and were under 70 years old. Tumor samples were obtained by biopsy prior to NAC. Cases were divided into two groups: one group in which NAC was effective, surgery was possible and radiotherapy was performed (NAC+OP+R group; n=33), and another group in which NAC was ineffective and radiation therapy was performed (NAC+R group; n=20). MAD2 expression was examined in paraffin-embedded sections using the avidin-biotin peroxidase complex method. The results showed that MAD2 expression was significantly higher in the NAC+R group compared to the NAC+OP+R group (P<0.001). There was no significant difference in overall survival between the two groups, although the prognosis for the NAC+OP+R group tended to be slightly better (P=0.064). Taken together, these results suggest that the expression of MAD2 may predict the efficacy of NAC as a treatment for locally advanced uterine cervical cancer.

Mitotic arrest deficiency 2 induces carcinogenesis in mucinous ovarian tumors

Mitotic arrest deficiency 2 (MAD2) is a key component of the mitotic spindle checkpoint pathway. A compromised mitotic spindle checkpoint results in an abnormal number of chromosomes. This is referred to as chromosomal instability, and has been reported in most types of human cancer. The aim of this study was to examine the expression of MAD2 in mucinous ovarian tumors exhibiting varying degrees of malignancy. We reviewed 128 cases of mucinous ovarian tumors initially treated at Osaka City University Medical School Hospital, Japan. Tumor samples were obtained following surgery. The cases were divided into three groups: benign (group B; n=30), borderline malignant (group BM; n=55) and malignant (group M; n=43). MAD2 expression was examined in paraffin-embedded sections using the avidin-biotin peroxidase complex method. Results showed MAD2 expression to be significantly greater in group M compared to groups B and BM (P<0.05). In addition, there was a moderate correlation between MAD2 expression and the degree of malignancy (r=0.51, P<0.05). However, when the samples in group M were classified according to a low or high expression of MAD2, no difference was observed in terms of overall survival. These findings suggest that the overexpression of MAD2 may be correlated to carcinogenesis in mucinous ovarian tumors.

Immunohistochemical expression of Mum-1, Oct-2 and Bcl-6 in systemic anaplastic large cell lymphomas

Several transcription factors predominantly used for B-cell lineage identification are also expressed in a small percentage of T cells within germinal centers and interfollicular areas. The aim of the study was to evaluate the expression of Mum-1, Oct-2 and Bcl-6 in systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma. Thirty cases of anaplastic large cell lymphoma were retrieved from our archives and tissue microarray constructed. Immunohistochemistry was carried out using an avidin-biotin peroxidase complex method. A predominance of nuclear staining was observed for all transcription factors. Mum-1 was positive in all but one case (96.7%). Half of the cases displayed Oct-2 expression (15/30 cases). A considerable number of cases also had Bcl-6 expression (9/30). Bcl-6 staining was noted to be more common in ALK positive cases. Our findings emphasize that these markers are not restricted to B-cell lineage and that extensive expression can be observed in anaplastic large cell lymphoma of T/null cell phenotype.

ApoA-I deficiency in mice is associated with redistribution of apoA-II and aggravated AApoAII amyloidosis

Apolipoprotein A-II (apoA-II) is the second major apolipoprotein following apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I) in HDL. ApoA-II has multiple physiological functions and can form senile amyloid fibrils (AApoAII) in mice. Most circulating apoA-II is present in lipoprotein A-I/A-II. To study the influence of apoA-I on apoA-II and AApoAII amyloidosis, apoA-I-deficient (C57BL/6J.Apoa1⁻/⁻) mice were used. Apoa1⁻/⁻ mice showed the expected significant reduction in total cholesterol (TC), HDL cholesterol (HDL-C), and triglyceride (TG) plasma levels. Unexpectedly, we found that apoA-I deficiency led to redistribution of apoA-II in HDL and an age-related increase in apoA-II levels, accompanied by larger HDL particle size and an age-related increase in TC, HDL-C, and TG. Aggravated AApoAII amyloidosis was induced in Apoa1⁻/⁻ mice systemically, especially in the heart. These results indicate that apoA-I plays key roles in maintaining apoA-II distribution and HDL particle size. Furthermore, apoA-II redistribution may be the main reason for aggravated AApoAII amyloidosis in Apoa1⁻/⁻ mice. These results may shed new light on the relationship between apoA-I and apoA-II as well as provide new information concerning amyloidosis mechanism and therapy.

Changes in p53 and Waf1p21 expression and cell proliferation in esophageal carcinogenesis.

To study the correlation between changes in p53 and Waf1p21 expression and cell proliferation, determined by proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), at different stages of human esophageal carcinogenesis. Biopsied and resected esophageal tissues from a high risk population of esophageal cancer in northern China were used in this study. All specimens were fixed in 85% alcohol and processed for routine histology. The avidin biotin peroxidase complex (ABC) method was used to detect p53, Waf1p21 and PCNA. Strong nuclear staining of p53, Waf1p21 and PCNA was observed in normal esophageal epithelium and epithelia with different lesion severities. As the lesions progressed to dysplasia (DYS) and to esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), the Waf1p21 immunoreactivity percentage decreased. The number of Waf1p21-positive cells slightly increased from normal to basal cell hyperplasia (BCH), but did not further increase in DYS and SCC. The total number of Waf1p21-positive cells was lower than the number of p53-positive cells in normal and BCH esophageal epithelia and much lower in DYS and SCC. Waf1p21-positive cells were located in the third and fourth cell layers in half of the samples examined, which was 2-4 cell layers higher than the cells expressing PCNA and p53 in the same histological categories of normal, BCH and DYS. Low Waf1p21 levels at the DYS stage may be related to a functional loss of p53. Other mechanisms may also be responsible for the decreased Waf1p21 expression in DYS and SCC.

Content and localization of leukotriene C4 in lung tissue during biphasic allergic bronchoconstriction in the guinea pig

Leukotriene C4 (LTC4) is a very potent bronchoconstrictor, and is believed to be an important mediator during immediate (IAR) and late asthmatic response (LAR). No direct measurement of LTC4 in lung tissue during IAR and LAR has been reported, however, and its localized site in the lung remains unclear. In an effort to clarify these issues, the content of LTC4 in lung tissue was evaluated at the onset of antigen-induced IAR and LAR, and the distribution of LTC4 was examined by immunohistochemistry. IAR and LAR were induced by inhalation of aerosolized ovalbumin (OA) in conscious guinea pigs. The development of IAR and LAR following inhaled OA exposure was determined in sensitized guinea pigs by measurement of respiratory resistance using the oscillation method. LTC4 in lung tissue was measured by radioimmunoassay at six different stages (S1: non-treated group; S2: group before OA-challenge following sensitization; S3: IAR group; S4: group two hours after IAR; S5: LAR-positive group; S6: LAR-negative group). For immunohistochemistry, non-treated guinea pigs and the sensitized animals at the onset of LAR were used. Lung sections were stained with anti-LTC4 antibody by avidin biotin peroxidase complex method (ABC method). About 70% of the guinea pigs displayed IAR, followed by LAR that peaked at 6-20 hours after OA challenge. The LTC4 content in lung tissue was significantly increased (p less than 0.01) at the onset of IAR, but was significantly decreased (p less than 0.01) after two hours, and significantly increased (p less than 0.01) at the onset of LAR.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
