An agent-based model of school tracking, accountability, and segregation

ABSTRACT Extant research on the effect of education system characteristics on school socio-economic segregation does not consider education as a complex system. This paper’s contribution lies in using agent-based modelling to simulate the effect of the interaction between families’ strategies for school selection and two education system characteristics: tracking – a system where students of different academic abilities are separated in different schools – and school accountability – the public availability of information on school quality. The model shows that school tracking and accountability tend to at the same time attenuate and increase school socio-economic segregation, but overall both policies tend to exacerbate segregation by eliciting competition for the best schools. The policy implications are: (i) tracking has a stronger exacerbating effect on segregation than accountability, (ii) the two polices interact to create compounding effects and (iii) by reducing residential segregation between families the segregating effect on schools of the two policies diminishes dramatically.

Introduction. The large absolute and relative volumes of tax expenditures in most countries that submit their reports to the Global Tax Expenditures Database, with insufficient transparency and heterogeneous quality of such reports, are convincing evidence of the need for close attention to them both by researchers and by governments and international organizations. The growing attention to tax expenditures at the international level is confirmed by the creation of the Global Tax Expenditures Database (GTED), and in 2023 – the ranking of countries in the context of the transparency of tax expenditures, measured according to the Global Tax Expenditures Transparency Index (GTETI), which aims to identify weaknesses in tax expenditures reports and direct efforts to eliminate them. Problem Statement. Ukraine belongs to the number of countries that submit their reports on tax benefits, which are losses of budget revenues (tax expenditures), to the GTED. Therefore, its reporting was subject to evaluation, which determined Ukraine's place in the tax expenditures transparency ranking. The purpose of the article is to familiarize the scientific community, government officials and policy makers in Ukraine with information on the tax expenditures transparency rating, as well as to reveal the reasons for the low quality of tax expenditures reports in Ukraine and to outline areas for their improvement. The methods of critical analysis, comparative and structural-functional analysis, analogies and theoretical generalization are used. Results. The article provides a detailed description of the GTETI and its five dimensions (parameters) that can be used to determine the quality of reports, as well as the results of ranking the EU countries and Ukraine according to the regularity, quality and scope of their tax expenditures reports. Ukraine took the 88th place in the ranking among 104 countries, having received 33,2 scores, which is 18,5 points below the average for EU countries. The country received the lowest scores – 3 and 4 – for the public availability of information on tax expenditures and for the methodology and scope of reporting, and the highest score – 12 – for the institutional framework. For the other two parameters – descriptive data on tax expenditures and tax expenditures assessment – Ukraine's indicators are not high, but do not differ significantly from the average for all countries in the ranking. The reasons for the low quality of tax expenditures reports in Ukraine in all parameters have been analyzed, which makes it possible to draw a conclusion that they need to be improved and the main directions for improvement are identified.

Transparency of Information about the CSTO Collective Security Regions in the Context of Hybrid Warfare and Cognitive Security

The article is devoted to the analysis and criticism of the cognitive role of the information and analytical potential of the CSTO in the conditions of hybrid pressure from the actors of the Eurasian arc of instability [5, p. 62]. The object and subject of the study considered, respectively, the information content of the Organization’s website and published data on collective security regions.Aim. To substantiate the need for finding new ways to interact with the target audience, as well as the transition from the reactive principle of crisis response to a system for preventing and resolving crisis situations based on a scientific approach and advanced information technologies.Tasks. To reveal the importance of transparency of current data on the boundaries and regions of collective security of the CSTO cognitive security in conditions of escalation and psychological pressure from the outside. Propose a new direction for the development of the official websites of the Organization.Methods. The study was carried out from the perspective of a civilizational and historical approach, systemic and critical analysis.Results. An original interpretation of the cognitive role and inclusiveness of publicly available data published on the website of an international security organization is presented.Conclusions. The multifactorial scientific search for reliable information and the public availability of information on the issues of the regions and borders of the CSTO is acquiring increasing theoretical and practical importance. It is advisable to consider the situation on the borders and in the regions of collective security of the CSTO through the prism of spatial-geographical, military-political and socioeconomic factors. Activating the cognitive role, transparency and inclusiveness of published open information about the activities of the CSTO are promising ways to build up the Organization’s potential in a hybrid war.

International Practice of Liner Container Shipping Regulation in the Transport System

Effective regulatory and legal framework in this field has several positive advantages for the transportation participants. A significant place in the article is given to ensuring the principle of “common carrier” for access of a wide range of consumers to the container carriers service. In connection with the transformation both of supply chains and logistics flows under conditions of new foreign economic factors along with the emergence of new shipping lines on the Russian container market the relevance of this topic will continue to increase.Aim. To consider the aspects of normative and legal regulation of liner container shipping in the USA, EU, PRC and the Russian Federation.Tasks. To analyze the strategies of shipping lines on the Russian and global markets, to identify key regulatory legal acts of foreign countries in the sphere of liner container shipping, to identify the features of the Russian legislation in this sphere and the ways of its development.Methods. Regulatory legal acts of the USA, EU, PRC and the Russian Federation were collected, which play an extremely important role in the development of international container transportation and increasing the competitiveness of foreign economic activity.Results. The research of relevant legal frameworks and instruments of state regulation of sea container lines activity to ensure non-discriminatory access of consumers of transportation services, public availability of information about liner container services, high quality of transportation services for foreign economic relations was carried out.Conclusions. In modern foreign economic conditions, alliances and various forms of carrier cooperation are the subject of state regulation of liner container shipping in order to protect competition on the market. The legislation of the USA and the Russian Federation establishes compulsory publication of shipping line tariffs, while according to the provisions of the PRC legislation shipping lines provide their tariffs to the freight exchange, which is authorized by the competent state body. In addition, international experience shows that sea lines “Common carriers” are subject to a number of other requirements. In the Russian Federation, sea container transportation is carried out by both liner and tramp vessels due to the fact that the certain carriers are not registered as shipping line operators and information about some regular container services is limited.

Technological tendencies for lithium production from salt lake brines: Progress and research gaps to move towards more sustainable processes

Lithium is a crucial element for the energy transition; therefore, the demand projections will increase drastically in the short and medium term. Almost 48% of the current Li production worldwide comes from salt lake brines sources, where the brine processing considers an evaporation ponds stage which losses around 90% of the water contained in brine to the atmosphere. This method causes concerns about the potential impact on salt lake water balance and biodiversity, promoting interest in new alternatives to replace the evaporative way. However, the tendencies, focus of studies, and holistic analysis of the potential impacts of these technologies still require further discussion. This work provides an overview of state-of-the-art technological tendencies of alternative processes to treat Li-rich brines based on bibliometrics, content analyses, and a literature review. Direct lithium extraction (DLE) processes have drawn the attention of researchers and technology companies due to their high Li extraction efficiency. Besides, recent works have started to study lithium brine concentration (LBC) methods, which can synergically complement the performance of DLE processes. However, any technological alternative should assess the impact on each salt lake in designing future processes. In this regard, the availability of public information about performance results of technological companies and lithium producers, overall assessment of processing options including carbon and water scarcity footprint, and studies evaluating the effect of returning spent brine into the salt lake are issues that need to be settled. Thus, future definitions and studies must consider a holistic analysis integrating DLE and LBC methods.

Digital exchange attributes and the risk of closure

Presently, there are over 500 cryptocurrency exchanges worldwide and more than 19,700 different cryptocurrencies. Despite the fact that cryptocurrency trading is possible via private peer-to-peer transactions, more than 90% of trading occurs on organised exchanges, which provide convenience and liquidity. However, centralised cryptocurrency exchanges are regarded as high-value targets by criminals and are often victims of cyberattacks. In this paper, we investigate the risk of cryptocurrency exchange closures and develop predictive models to forecast which markets will close down and which ones will remain active using publicly available data. Our models perform well and reach a high level of classification accuracy. Exchange trading volume, the availability of public information on exchange staff, exchange lifetime, and several cybersecurity features are identified as key attributes in predicting exchange closures. Nevertheless, our models do not account for all sources of risk, e.g., potential fraud and mismanagement of client funds committed by the exchanges themselves, and market participants are encouraged to carefully consider where and how they store their digital assets.

Public availability of information from officially accredited medical schools in China

BackgroundMedical education accreditation in China has been conducted by the Working Committee for the Accreditation of Medical Education (WCAME) and 129 medical schools have completed accreditation by December 2021. Despite studies on the standards, process and effectiveness of accreditation, the actual information transparency of accredited medical schools in China has not been examined. The study investigated the status of publicly available information from WCAME-accredited medical schools in China, and whether public availability of information had significant differences among different types of universities.MethodsThe 129 medical schools’ official websites were reviewed for the 21 criteria of the WFME Global Standards for Quality Improvement: Basic Medical Education. Dichotomous method was used to record information as presence or absence. SPSS was utilized for descriptive and ANOVA analyses.ResultsThe mean of the publicly available information on the 21 criteria was 13.77 ± 3.57, and only 5 (3.9%) accredited medical schools had all relevant information available. Publicly available information on Governance (100%) and Administration (100%) was the most, whereas information on Assessment in support of learning (16.3%) was the least. Public availability of information differed significantly among schools accredited with higher (18.15 ± 2.16), medium (13.69 ± 3.41) and lower results (12.79 ± 3.19) (F = 14.71, p < 0.05). Medical universities and comprehensive universities did not show significant differences in their overall information availability (F = 0.25, p > 0.05). Central government funded universities had a remarkably larger amount of publicly available information than local government funded universities (17.86 ± 1.98 vs. 12.75 ± 2.93, p < 0.05).ConclusionPublic availability of information from the accredited medical schools in China needs to be improved to promote transparency and continuous quality improvement, especially with regard to information on curriculum, assessment and quality assurance. Explicit information availability requirements need to be considered to include in medical education standards, and further studies are warranted to explore which information elements should be made publicly available.

In vino veritas? Communication under the influence—An experimental study

We report results from controlled laboratory experiments designed to investigate the effects of drinking alcohol on communication and transactions. In a game played in laboratory experiments, sellers who are privately informed about their asset’s quality communicate and trade with potential buyers after both parties drink their given alcoholic beverages. We investigated the effects of alcohol consumption by varying the alcohol content of the assigned beverages across treatments. Our main findings are as follows. First, sellers with a drink of a high alcohol content lie significantly more often than those with a drink of a low alcohol content. Second, upon receiving a “High” message, buyers with a drink of a high alcohol content make higher offers for assets than those with a drink of a low alcohol content. Third, the public availability of information on alcohol content does not change players’ behavior significantly. These findings are qualitatively consistent with the model of communication with a lying cost and naive receivers, suggesting that alcohol consumption lowers both the lying cost and the receiver’s sophistication when interpreting messages, although we cannot completely rule out the possibility that the observed effect is due to something other than alcohol intoxication.

DATA SOURCES IN BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT ANALYTICS AND THEIR TRANSFORMATION IN THE DIGITAL ECONOMY

Abstract. The massive data growth, the variety of its sources and analysis tools necessitates review and critical analysis of data types to analyze business environments and make decisions. These tasks are relevant for public authorities regulating the economy, groups engaged in business consulting, and analytical centers specializing in strategic analysis, economic security, and market and competitor studies. The article aims to summarize and systematize modern types and sources of data in the study of the business environment in Ukraine, as well as their formats in the context of transformation into analysis platforms and insights for organizational decision-making. The study used a systemic-structural approach, as well as general scientific research methods – analysis, synthesis, and comparison. The authors propose a classification of data types, systematize their sources and format, and summarize data and analytics platforms that can be used to analyse and regulate the business environment in Ukraine. The authors conclude that modern business environment analytics are characterized by rapid changes in volume and sources of data, as well as analytical tools. Indicators of such changes are 1) an increase in open data, primarily due to availability of public information in the Open Data format 2) diversification of data formats, allowing further processing and analysis, in particular Data Mining, and 3) the growth of opportunities for business entities to independently make analytics based on public registers and other sources of open data. Accurate definition and use of various types of data, taking into account their sources, access modes and formats, is a key determinant of the quality of economic analytics in the process of decision-making, including in the field of government regulation of the economy. Access to HPV vaccination in Japan: Increasing social trust to regain vaccine confidence

Vaccine hesitancy is a growing concern in global public health, and illustrates serious problems arising from loss of social trust. Japan is experiencing a human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine crisis that started with a rapid decline in the vaccination rate in 2013 from approximately 70% to less than 1% and lasting for 7 years. We analyze Japan’s case of vaccine hesitancy for HPV vaccine, using a framework for examining barriers to access and use of health technologies according to four categories: architecture, availability, affordability, and adoption. Significant problems were identified in the architecture of the decision-making body, public information availability, adoption of evidence in policy-making process, knowledge and confidence among providers, education to the public, and communication with end-users. We propose a series of actions to address these barriers. The national government should diversify the advisory committee to include broader scientific evidence and various viewpoints. Municipalities should actively distribute information cooperating with local providers. Professional associations should create an alliance to influence policy makers and deliver education to health care providers and end-users. Politicians should integrate opinions from citizens and scientists to implement an up-to-date policy. Civil society should share individual stories from cervical cancer patients and positive experiences of vaccinated girls. Mass media should use more diverse sources of information to report more comprehensive and science-based views. These actions would help build mutual trust among stakeholders, which is required to increase social trust in the HPV vaccine in Japan and thereby regain vaccine confidence and reduce preventable deaths and complications.

EVALUASI PROSES PENGANGGARAN DANA BANTUAN OPERASIONAL SEKOLAH DI KABUPATEN PURWOREJO

This study aims to evaluate the budgeting process for School Operational Assistance Funds in Purworejo Regency. Evaluation measurement uses indicators issued by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on Good Governance with Transparency and Accountability variables in the Budgeting Process in Purworejo Regency. The samples of this study were 477 schools in Purworejo Regency and the BOS Management Team in Purworejo Regency in the Education, Youth and Sports Office of Purworejo Regency. The results showed that in general the implementation of the principles of good governance for accountability had been carried out well and met the principles of accountability. Even the overall Performance Accountability Score of Purworejo Regency gets a performance score of AA (Very satisfying). Meanwhile, for the Transparency Principle as measured by the legal framework, the availability of public information, open plan planning, implementation and reporting have been carried out quite well, but several schools still do not comply with the transparency of openness in the reporting sector. there are still 26,7% of schools that have not reported online on the Ministry of Education and Culture's website.Keywords: Good Governance, Accountability, Transparency, Purworejo Regency, Budget, BOS Funds.

Public availability of information from WFME-recognized accreditation agencies

The World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) Recognition Programme was created to ensure the comparability of medical school accrediting agencies, so that the schools accredited by those agencies would have similar educational quality. WFME explicitly values transparency and has recognition criteria that relate to agencies making information publicly available. Our study examined 20 WFME-recognized agencies’ transparency by reviewing agency websites for 27 information elements related to accreditation standards, procedures, and processes. We contacted agencies as needed for information that we could not find on their websites. We were only able to retrieve additional information from 3 of the 12 agencies that we attempted to contact. We found that while 12 agencies had over 90% of expected information elements available, 6 agencies had less than 50%. Our findings illustrate barriers for those who wish to better understand medical school accreditation in some regions and raise questions about how comparable WFME-recognized agencies are.

Epidemiologia da Doença de Alzheimer em Sergipe no período de 2008 a 2018: morbidade hospitalar e mortalidade

A Doença de Alzheimer é a doença neurodegenerativa mais comum e principal causa de demência em todo o mundo, sendo um dos grandes desafios da saúde no século XXI. Nos últimos anos, a demência representou a quinta principal causa de morte no mundo, com cerca de 2,4 milhões de óbitos. Este trabalho teve como objetivo analisar os dados epidemiológicos da morbidade hospitalar e a mortalidade ocasionadas pela Doença de Alzheimer no Estado de Sergipe, entre os anos de 2008 e 2018. Trata-se de um estudo epidemiológico descritivo, retrospectivo e transversal realizado com dados do DATASUS. No período analisado, foram registradas apenas 21 internações, sendo treze do sexo feminino, doze atendimentos foram feitos em pacientes com 80 anos ou mais. Dados como raça/cor foram ignorados em 18 pacientes atendidos. Com relação a mortalidade, foram registrados 979 óbitos. A maioria dos moradores, 547, eram residentes de Aracaju. O sexo feminino foi o mais acometido com 645 casos e a faixa etária mais acometida foi a de pacientes com 80 anos ou mais, com 697 casos. Através do estudo foi possível avaliar a falta alimentação do sistema, principalmente no Sistema de Informações Hospitalares, uma vez que há poucos casos para serem analisados e algumas informações não são adequadamente registradas. É preciso ressaltar também a importância e contribuição de bases de dados como o DATASUS, pois a disponibilidade de informações públicas é essencial para execução de medidas de ação em saúde, realizadas de acordo com as características epidemiológicas das enfermidades estudadas.

Ranking the risk of animal-to-human spillover for newly discovered viruses

The death toll and economic loss resulting from the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic are stark reminders that we are vulnerable to zoonotic viral threats. Strategies are needed to identify and characterize animal viruses that pose the greatest risk of spillover and spread in humans and inform public health interventions. Using expert opinion and scientific evidence, we identified host, viral, and environmental risk factors contributing to zoonotic virus spillover and spread in humans. We then developed a risk ranking framework and interactive web tool, SpillOver, that estimates a risk score for wildlife-origin viruses, creating a comparative risk assessment of viruses with uncharacterized zoonotic spillover potential alongside those already known to be zoonotic. Using data from testing 509,721 samples from 74,635 animals as part of a virus discovery project and public records of virus detections around the world, we ranked the spillover potential of 887 wildlife viruses. Validating the risk assessment, the top 12 were known zoonotic viruses, including SARS-CoV-2. Several newly detected wildlife viruses ranked higher than known zoonotic viruses. Using a scientifically informed process, we capitalized on the recent wealth of virus discovery data to systematically identify and prioritize targets for investigation. The publicly accessible SpillOver platform can be used by policy makers and health scientists to inform research and public health interventions for prevention and rapid control of disease outbreaks. SpillOver is a living, interactive database that can be refined over time to continue to improve the quality and public availability of information on viral threats to human health.

Kinerja Pejabat Pengelola Informasi dan Dokumentasi (PPID) Kabupaten Bungo dalam Pemenuhan Ketersediaan Informasi Publik

Access to services in accordance with the Public Information Disclosure Act directs all public bodies that utilize state/local budgets, must have Pejabat Pengelola Informasi dan Dokumentasi (PPID) whose duties and obligations provide information services to the public in order for the distribution of information so that aspects that prioritize services can occur properly. This study examines how the PPID performance of Bungo Regency Government in the fulfillment of public information availability.&#x0D; &#x0D; This research uses a qualitative method with descriptive analysis. Data analysis techniques using the model of Miles and Huberman. Furthermore, this study uses a data validity experiment using the Triangulation Method, namely by comparing information or data in different ways to obtain the correctness of information.&#x0D; &#x0D; The results showed that the performance of PPID Bungo Regency in the fulfillment of the availability of public information has not been maximally shown resulting in the service of unsatisfactory information received by the community. The cause is due to the lack of public information. The public does not always get the public information that is intended. Nevertheless, the development of public data/information has not been carried out. As the main provider of public information, the Regional Device Organization (OPD) as the Auxiliary PPID in Bungo Regency has not performed the function of depositing information to the main PPID by applicable rules.

The analysis of the regulatory and legal support for clinical trials of medicines and veterinary preparations in Ukraine and the EU

Aim. To analyze the regulatory and legal support for clinical trials of medicines and veterinary preparations in Ukraine and the EU.Results. The analysis of normative documentation for clinical trials of medicines and veterinary preparations has determined significantly different approaches in Ukraine regarding the approved procedures, specified laboratories and clinical sites regulating communications between sponsors and researchers, information support of the procedure, availability of public information, reporting, etc. It has been proven that in veterinary medicine the regulatory framework for clinical trials in Ukraine needs to be updated, a number of critical procedures and documents for planning, monitoring, reporting and various forms of analysis have not been regulated. The absence of interconnection and harmonization of procedures for the use of animals in research has been determined. The main problems in the regulation of clinical trials in veterinary medicine remain the lack of transparent procedures, the absence of regulated guidelines for applicants and sponsors, the low quality of expertise and the lack of coordination between the various government agencies involved.Conclusions. The regulatory and legal bases existing at the moment in Ukraine for conducting clinical trials of medicines complies with international standards and EU Directives. The lack of the regulatory and legal support has been proven; it requires and determines the conduct of clinical trials in veterinary medicine not only in the form of guidelines, but has legal force. Significantly different approaches have been identified regarding the procedures for conducting clinical trials, namely, human clinical trials focus on protecting the ethical standards of the study subject, while the first area of the current animal clinical trial standards is the development and testing of veterinary preparations at all levels, species of target animals; issues of the animal welfare and protection do not cover the legislative and regulatory framework for clinical trials.

Race and ethnicity reporting for clinical trials in ClinicalTrials.gov and publications

Inclusion and subsequent reporting of minority participants in clinical trials are critical for ensuring external validity and detecting differences among subgroups, however reports suggest that ongoing gaps persist. ClinicalTrials.gov began requiring the reporting of race/ethnicity information (if collected) during results submission for trials in April 2017. For this study, we downloaded and compared trial race/ethnicity information from ClinicalTrials.gov submitted before (N = 3540) and after (N = 3542) the requirement date. We found that 42.0% of pre-requirement trials compared to 91.4% of post-requirement trials reported race/ethnicity information in ClinicalTrials.gov; 8.6% of post-requirement trials indicated race/ethnicity information was not collected. Use of NIH/U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) classification categories was slightly higher in the post-requirement (77.1%) compared to pre-requirement (72.8%) samples. Additionally, we examined two 10% random samples of post-requirement trials – one with customized race/ethnicity reporting in ClinicalTrials.gov and the other with corresponding results publications available in PubMed. In the first random sample, 95.9% of customized categories included race information and 52.7% included ethnicity information. In the other random sample, 33.1% had a corresponding results publication, of which 62.4% reported race/ethnicity information in the publication. Among trials without published race/ethnicity information, 90.0% reported race/ethnicity information on ClinicalTrials.gov. This analysis demonstrates that the requirement has advanced public availability of information on the inclusion of minorities in research, but that further work remains to systematically ensure collection and complete reporting of race/ethnicity information.

Characterization of Face Transplant Candidates Evaluated at Cleveland Clinic and Algorithm to Maximize Efficacy of Screening Process.

As a high-volume referral center for facial transplantation, we have learned significantly from the screening, evaluation, and enrollment process. This report analyzes our algorithm for the assessment of potential face transplant candidates referred to our institution. After institutional review board approval in 2004, a prospectively maintained database was created for patients who were referred face transplant. Records were reviewed for the nature of tissue defect, functional deficit, surgical and medical history, and expert recommendations.Our algorithm begins with a review of a patient's file with a focus on institutional review board criteria. After screening, a phone interview is conducted, and transplantation is discussed. Patients are presented to the team to analyze the medical, psychiatric, and surgical history; support network; and geographic location. Eligible patients are invited for an in-person evaluation, and the case is reviewed again with the team. If approved, the patient can provide consent for transplantation. More than 200 patients were referred for transplant evaluation at the Cleveland Clinic from 2004 to 2016. Sixty were eligible for further evaluation for face transplantation based on preliminary screening. Thirteen (6.5% of original cohort) were invited for in-person evaluation and physical examination. Five (2.5% of original cohort, 38.4% invited cohort) of these 13 patients underwent face transplantation, of whom, 3 (1.5% of original cohort, 23.1% invited cohort) underwent face transplantation at our institution. All 3 patients who were ultimately transplanted were referred by a physician. As the availability of public information on face transplant increases, it is likely that an increase in self-referral for face transplantation will occur. Thus, it is critical that institutions adopt a systematic approach to triage in order to identify appropriate patients. Our algorithm allowed for a high enrollment and transplantation ratio to save patient and institution time and resources. This could be easily adopted by other institutions to save time, money, and resources.

Efforts to catalogue non-governmental organizations with a role in global burn relief.

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have been instrumental in the treatment of traumatic injuries, including burns, particularly in low- and middle-income counties. The purpose of this project was to catalogue burn injury related NGO activities, describe coordinated efforts, and provide insight to burn health care professionals seeking volunteer opportunities. Eligible burn NGOs were identified through internet searches, literature reviews, and social media. The organizations' websites were reviewed for eligibility and contact was attempted to confirm details. Global health organizations, including the World Health Organization, were consulted for their viewpoints. We identified 27 unique NGOs working in the area of burn care in African countries, all with differing missions, capacities, recruitment methods, and ability to respond to disaster. We also describe 14 global NGOs, some of which accept volunteers. Some NGOs were local, while others were headquartered in western countries. To our knowledge, this is the first effort towards the establishment of a Burn-NGO catalogue. Challenges included: frequent shifts in geographical regions supported, lack of collaboration among organizations, availability of public information, and austere environments. We invite collaborators to assist in the creation of a comprehensive, interactive and complete catalogue.
