The enantiometric resolution of ten dansyl- dl-amino acids was achieved on thin silica gel plates impregnated with a macrocyclic antibiotic, erythromycin, as the chiral selector. Different combinations of 0.5 M aqueous NaClMeCNMeOH were found to be successful in resolving various dansyl- dl-amino acids. Spots were detected using a fixed dual-wavelength (254 nm) ultraviolet chamber.
