Social (de)stratification in Europe: An empirical analysis of 22 welfare systems

EU national governments and the EU itself are committed to improving the ef-fectiveness of social protection systems to promote the spread of ‘horizontal' relationships between individuals and remove inequalities that prevent people from fully participating in political, economic, and social life. We evaluate this process by examining the performance of social protection systems in 22 Euro-pean countries, focusing on the phenomenon of social stratification over the pe-riod 2007-2017. For this purpose, we refer to both a multidimensional perfor-mance index and principal component analysis. The empirical evidence suggests that the financial crisis of 2007 and the Great Recession that started after 2011 changed (in many ways downsized) the objectives of social protection systems, contributing only partially to the de-stratification of the population of European states over the period covered.

This study aims to analyze the financial performance of Sharia commercial banks between before and during the covid-19 pandemic. This study uses an analysis of financial ratios and islamicity performance index to measure the financial performance. This study uses a quantitative method by using a comparative approach that compares the similarities or differences of three objects studied in a certain frame of mind. This study uses quarterly financial reports in 2018-2021. The population of this research is Islamic commercial banks that registered with OJK and issue quarterly financial reports. The statistical method used is the descriptive statistical test and Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results show differences in the financial ratio (for KPMM, NPF, FDR, NI, and BOPO), islamicity performance index (for Profit Sharing Ratio and EDR_Qard & Donation) of Islamic commercial banks between before and during the pandemic

A PID-based Structure for MISO Approach to Anaesthesia Control Problem

This work introduces a control architecture based on Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller addressing drugs co-administration in the total intravenous anaesthesia process. The control problem focuses on a multiple-input-single-output nonlinear process, where the infusion rates of propofol and remifentanil are the control variables and the Bispectral Index Scale (BIS) is the controlled variable. The analyzed structure exploits an external predictor of the patient state that converts the control problem to the linear case. The interaction between the used drugs is handled by a reference converter element through continuous re-computation of the setpoint. The proposed control system is evaluated by exploiting a set of virtual patients that are representative of a wide population. The scenario considers induction and maintenance phases, as both of them are important from a practical point of view. The obtained results show that the PID controller in combination with the external predictor is able to meet all the clinical requirements, which is confirmed through the analysis of process specific performance indexes.

Pure output model-based context-dependent DEA: Tool for analyzing index published by assessing bodies

The institutions of world repute, like the United Nations, the World Bank, etc., assess and rank countries or firms based on various criteria pertaining to key areas to evaluate their performance and publish them as Indexes. These ranking tools aid decision-makers in formulating policies and procedures44PAP-Policies and procedures. (PAP) to achieve performance efficiency. In the real world, identifying the closest, most efficient country or firm whose PAP can be emulated with minimal effort is a management dilemma. These Indexes contain only output data, which compounds the problem. This paper uses Data envelopment analysis55DEA- Data envelopment analysis. (DEA) to resolve these issues. Each country or firm under evaluation is referred to as Decision-making unit66DMU-Decision-making unit. (DMU). The novelty of this study emanates from 1) segregating countries or firms into several frontiers using Pure Output Model-based Context-Dependent Data envelopment analysis77POMCDD-Pure output model-based context-dependent data envelopment analysis. (POMCDD), 2) proposing a technique to identify the most attractive nearest DMU that is performing better and is easy to emulate, 3) identifying the “Region of introspection” by using the translation technique of Pillar-Index scores concerning DMU under evaluation to demarcate reference DMU for the concerned Pillar, and 4) suggesting techniques such as “Rapid gain,” “Best yield”, and “Least effort” which are proposed to identify reference DMUs for the concerned Pillar. A case study analysis of the Logistics Performance Index88LPI-Logistics Performance Index. (LPI) is carried out to substantiate the contributions. The countries ranked in the Logistics Performance Index are segregated into several efficient frontiers using the POMCDD technique. The attractiveness of each country is evaluated relative to the frontiers of poorly performing countries. The translation of Pillar-Index scores concerning the country under evaluation is used to identify reference countries for that Pillar. The developed framework is helpful to the policy-makers in analyzing published Indexes.

Analysis of Islamicity Performance Index, Capital Adequacy Ratio, and Corporate Social Responsibility on Profitability with Intellectual Capital as a Moderating Variable in Sharia Public Banks Listed on the Financial Services Authority Period of 2016-2021

This research aims to test and analyze the effect of the Islamicity performance index, capital adequacy ratio, and corporate social responsibility on profitability with intellectual capital as a moderating variable in Sharia Public Banks listed on the Financial Services Authority period of 2016-2021. This associative-quantitative research employs secondary data. The research population is made up of 12 companies, and the sample are taken using a purposive sampling method, totalling 8 companies with criteria: Sharia banks that presented their financial statements from 2016-2021 period on the Financial Services Authority. Data obtained are analyzed using panel data regression method. This research results indicate that the profit-sharing ratio had an insignificant and negative effect, zakat performance ratio has a significant and positive effect, the Islamic income ratio has an insignificant and negative effect, the capital adequacy ratio has an insignificant positive effect, corporate social responsibility has an insignificant and positive effect on return on assets respectively. In addition, intellectual capital can moderate the effects of the profit-sharing ratio on return on assets, while intellectual capital does not moderate the effects of zakat performance ratio, Islamic income ratio, capital adequacy ratio, and corporate social responsibility on return on assets. Application of Earned Value Management in Project Management

Today, firms may cut costs through improved information exchange and boost profitability by delivering goods more quickly and affordably with fewer resources thanks to the scientific use of project management. In these projects, the core management activities revolve around cost management. This requires project managers to follow a scientific approach to strict project budgets, identify deviations early, analyse problems and correct them in a timely manner. Therefore, this paper aims to introduce the meaning and methods of cost management and introduces the basic concept of earned value management after analysing the history and current status of cost management to optimize its theory. By analysing the interplay between project cost and schedule, this paper explains how to apply earned value management to project cost control process by using cost and schedule performance index analysis and so on. The paper concludes with an analysis of the limitations and some countermeasures and suggestions. Cost management of projects should take into account the variability of the project and take into account both time and quality factors.

An Advanced Fractional Order Method for Temperature Control

Temperature control in buildings has been a highly studied area of research and interest since it affects the comfort of occupants. Commonly, temperature systems like centralized air conditioning or heating systems work with a fixed set point locally set at the thermostat, but users turn on or turn off the system when they feel it is too hot or too cold. This configuration is clearly not optimal in terms of energy consumption or even thermal comfort for users. Model predictive control (MPC) has been widely used for temperature control systems. In MPC design, the objective function involves the selection of constant weighting factors. In this study, a fractional-order objective function is implemented, so the weighting factors are time-varying. Furthermore, we compared the performance and disturbance rejection of MPC and Fractional-order MPC (FOMPC) controllers. To this end, we have chosen a building model from an EnergyPlus repository. The weather data needed for the EnergyPlus calculations has been obtained as a licensed file from the ASHRAE Handbook. Furthermore, we acquired a mathematical model by employing the Matlab system identification toolbox with the data obtained from the building model simulation in EnergyPlus. Next, we designed several FOMPC controllers, including the classical MPC controllers. Subsequently, we ran co-simulations in Matlab for the FOMPC controllers and EnergyPlus for the building model. Finally, through numerical analysis of several performance indexes, the FOMPC controller showed its superiority against the classical MPC in both reference tracking and disturbance rejection scenarios.

Analysis of Time and Cost Control Using The Earned Value Method In Well Pad Hilling and Compacting Work In The PT. Pertamina Hulu Rokan Riau Province

The development of physical facilities in Indonesia is increasing rapidly along with the promotion of modernization. In the implementation of a project it is very rare to find a project that goes exactly as planned. Generally, they experience delays from what was planned, both in terms of time and progress of work, but there are also projects that experience acceleration from the initial schedule planned. The research objectives were to determine time and cost performance, and to determine cost estimates and final project completion time for the Well Pad stockpiling and compaction project in the Rokan Riau Oil and Gas Block environment. The method used in this study is the Earned Value method which combines the elements of cost and time as well as the physical performance of the work. The data obtained from the project includes the project time schedule, budget plan (RAB), project weekly reports and actual costs, then an analysis of costs, schedules, variances and performance indexes is carried out by explaining the problems that arise during the research. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion, the calculation of the CPI value is> 1 from the 1st week to the 16th week. This means that from the 1st week to the 16th week, the project cost is more economical. The EAS calculation for the 16th week estimates the project completion time is 116 days or 16 weeks. This means that the project is experiencing a delay from the planned schedule. At the end of the review period, an estimated final project cost of Rp. 4,022,024,000.00. And the estimated time for project completion is 116 days, which means the project will be completed in a longer time than planned, which is 211 days.

New approach to implement cancer patient care: The valutazione percorso rete oncologica campana (ValPeROC)-experience from an Italian oncology network.

The primary goal of the Campania Oncology Network (ROC) was to reduce cancer delay and care fragmentation through the establishment of cancer-specific multidisciplinary oncologic groups (GOMs) and diagnostic and therapeutic assistance paths (PDTAs). Five cancer centres of the ROC, with their own cancer specific GOM, were selected. In our analysis, we have focused on four neoplasms: lung, colon, ovarian and prostate cancers. The median time for pre-GOM and GOM Times was calculated for each tumour site. Univariate and multivariate logistic regressions were performed to individuate risk factors for pre-GOM and GOM Time. Significant differences were observed for prostate cancer compared to other patients either for pre-GOM or GOM Times. Significant risks were found for ovarian and prostate cancers in pre-GOM time and for prostate cancer in GOM-Time. This experience will produce knowledge and data to guide decision-making and to manage more effectively the challenges of fighting cancer in Campania region. The Valutazione Percorso Rete Oncologica Campana (ValPeROC) study evaluates, for the first time, the ROC activity, through the analysis of key performance indices. Pre-GOM and GOM Time represent the quality of the entire regional health system and are useful to define models, which can evaluate the performance of the ROC over time.

Bank Performance Based on Core Capital Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic in Indonesia

COVID-19 has had an impact on banking, liquidity and credit. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has tried to mitigate some of these effects with countercyclical policies as stated in OJK regulation number 11/POJK.03/2020. It is however unclear whether the policy can reduce banking risk in the midst of easing or relaxation policies. This research employed secondary data taken from the Indonesian banking statistics published by OJK. Indicators of bank performance used in the study referred to the policies of the OJK and comprised: capital adequacy ratio, core capital ratio to riskweighted asset, return on assets ratio, operational efficiency ratio, net interest margin ratio, loans to deposits ratio, and liquid assets ratio. The performance index analysis was divided into two periods: January 2017- February 2020 and March 2020 - February 2021. The period was divided to determine the quality of bank performance before and after the stipulation of restructuring policy. The index calculation was carried out by determining the weight based on the dimensions (bank performance indicators). The weight given to each of these indicators was conformed to all indicators. The analysis of the bank performance used the composite index of development calculation. Based on the results, the availability of bank capital affected financial performance. The implementation of countercyclical policies had an impact on bank performance in banks that had greater availability of capital. Banks can evaluate and improve strategies in countercyclical implementation to support national economic recovery.

Clinical Study of the Role of Differential Blood Count as a Pretreatment Diagnosis for Patients With Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL)

The study employed simple differential blood count assessing clinical prognosis index at diagnosis of DLBCL patients. Each patient’s prognostic performance status was computed using absolute neutrophils/absolute lymphocytes(ANC/ALC), absolute lymphocytes/absolute monocyte (ALC/AMC), and absolute platelet/absolute lymphocytes APC/ALC) respectively, and then compared to preexisting parameters IPI, ECOG-PS, KI-67% protein expression, LDH, gender, bone marrow infiltration, and tumor location using ROC curves to determine the sensitivity and specificity threshold of each CBC performance index and survival analysis to estimate 5-year PFS and OS. The study showed that NLR compared to LDH at NLR ≥ 3.50 correlates to an increase in LDH >230UI/L, ECOG-PS score 2-4, increase in nodal tumor location, and elevation in cell proliferation at ki-67% protein expression (≥20%) at diagnosis exhibit poor prognosis to R-CHOP chemotherapy. Our results also demonstrated that LMR≤2.50 was associated with ECOG-PS score 2-4, increased number of extranodal tumor locations, in comparison with gender female participants had high sensitivity 60%, also low score LMR≤ 2.50 correspond to IPI score 3-5 among DLBCL patients. Our results further revealed that Pretreatment PLR≥150 at diagnosis correlates with LDH>230UI/L, and an ECOG-PS score of 2-4 in DLBCL patients.Conclusion: This study confirmed that pretreatment differential blood index NLR, LMR, and PLR are strongly associated with clinicopathological characteristics and provide important clinical prognostics in the early detection of DLBCL to the rituximab combined regimen.

Terrain mobility performance optimization: Fundamentals for autonomous vehicle applications. Part I. New mobility indices: Optimization and analysis

Based on an analysis of vehicle mobility performance indices in use, it is shown that an index for the optimization of autonomous vehicle mobility performance should be constituted as a set of technical parameters that result directly from the interactive dynamics of tires and terrain and should be measurable and controllable in real-time. In addition, the combination of the parameters should characterize the vehicle’s technical productivity/efficiency (not energy efficiency), and thus, enable the estimation and control of vehicle mobility performance. If such requirements are satisfied, the index can be optimized and optimization results can facilitate autonomous control design. This article provides results of a study to address the above-formulated requirements in the proposed mobility performance index.In Part I of this article, wheel mobility performance is characterized first by the wheel circumferential force and the actual linear velocity. The proposed wheel mobility performance (WMP) index mathematically relates the wheel circumferential force and velocity to the theoretical maximum performance. Thus, the actual performance can be evaluated in terms of the theoretical maximum performance in a similar manner that the actual energy efficiency is compared to its theoretical maximum, i.e., to unity. The WMP-index is then extended to multi-wheel vehicles. The proposed vehicle mobility performance (VMP) index relates the traction and velocity characteristics of all wheels to a theoretical maximum performance.Founded on the circumferential force and velocity characteristics of the wheels, the VMP-index mathematically reflects the influence of the power distribution among the wheels on the vehicle mobility performance. Hence, the VMP-optimization is formulated as an examination for the optimal tire slippages. Essentially, their combination characterizes the optimal wheel power split, and consequently, the best set of the wheel circumferential forces and the vehicle actual velocity for the maximum mobility performance in a given terrain condition. The tire slippages are subject to lower and upper bound constraints. The lower bound ensures positive tire slippages, and thus, positive traction of the wheels. The upper bound is imposed in the form of characteristic slippages such that exceeding them drives the wheels into an extremely nonlinear zone of the traction characteristic. In this zone, the wheel mobility margins drop significantly and some or all wheels can easily be immobilized. Further, the optimization is subject to the vehicle longitudinal dynamics, which sets the summation of the wheel circumferential forces equal to the motion resistance forces.By applying Lagrange Multipliers (LMs) to the objective function, a system of equations is arranged to compute the optimal tire slippages that correspond to the necessary conditions of an extremum of the objective function. The strict monotonicity property of the LM-based equations is then examined and the uniqueness of the solution is exhibited. Finally, the Hessian theory for a constrained optimal problem is used to prove that the solution is globally minimum.Part II discusses the computational results of mobility performance optimization for a 4x4 vehicle simulated on three homogeneous terrains and split terrains on flat surface and on slopes, with and without drawbar pull. Additionally, the vehicle with three conventional driveline systems is simulated in the same terrain conditions, and a detailed analysis establishes dependences between the optimal tire slippages and optimal circumferential forces of the wheels and their correlation to those provided by the driveline systems. Advantages of the mobility optimization for control design are explained and discussed. It is also concluded that the use of energy efficiency indices in mobility performance assessment can be considered as a supplementary, but not the primary subject-heading of the vehicle mobility performance.The mobility performance optimization directly contributes to mobility design that is illustrated by conceptual implementation of the optimization results in two driveline systems of the 4x4 vehicle: a driveline with positive engagement of the power-dividing units and a virtual driveline that serves for fully electric vehicles with in-wheel motors.Finally, a verification of the mobility optimization results and validation of the proposed mobility performance index is conducted through statistics-based assessment against experimental wheel circumferential forces and tire slippages.

Hippocampal DNA Methylation, Epigenetic Age, and Spatial Memory Performance in Young and Old Rats.

In humans and rats, aging is associated with a progressive deterioration of spatial learning and memory. These functional alterations are correlated with morphological and molecular changes in the hippocampus. Here, we assessed age-related changes in DNA methylation (DNAm) landscape in the rat hippocampus and the correlation of spatial memory with hippocampal DNAm age in 2.6- and 26.6-month-old rats. Spatial memory performance was assessed with the Barnes maze test. To evaluate learning ability and spatial memory retention, we assessed the time spent by animals in goal sector 1 (GS1) and 3 (GS3) when the escape box was removed. The rat pan-tissue clock was applied to DNAm data from hippocampal tissue. An enrichment pathway analysis revealed that neuron fate commitment, brain development, and central nervous system development were processes whose underlying genes were enriched in hypermethylated CpGs in the old rats. In the old rat hippocampi, the methylation levels of CpG proximal to transcription factors associated with genes Pax5, Lbx1, Nr2f2, Hnf1b, Zic1, Zic4, Hoxd9; Hoxd10, Gli3, Gsx1 and Lmx1b, and Nipbl showed a significant regression with spatial memory performance. Regression analysis of different memory performance indices with hippocampal DNAm age was significant. These results suggest that age-related hypermethylation of transcription factors related to certain gene families, such as Zic and Gli, may play a causal role in the decline in spatial memory in old rats. Hippocampal DNAm age seems to be a reliable index of spatial memory performance in young and old rats.

Meminimalisir Keterlambatan Waktu dan Pembengkakan Biaya Proyek Pembangunan Gedung Kecamatan Dongko, Trenggalek dengan Metode Nilai Hasil (Earned Value Method)

The construction of the Dongko Trenggalek District Building is one of the Trenggalek government's work programs in an effort to improve the quality of community services. In the construction of a building, proper project management needs to be done to minimize the occurrence of project failures. This study aims to minimize delays and cost overruns in the Dongko District Building Project, Trenggalek. Efforts to control the project are carried out with the result value method. EVM is one of the methods used to measure and evaluate the progress and performance of a project The result value method is applied by performing performance analysis which includes cost and schedule analysis, variance analysis, performance index analysis and cost estimation analysis and work end time. The project was built with a contract value of Rp. 2,902,468,0000.00 and is planned to be completed within 154 days. The results showed that the project experienced delays from what was planned. The completion time was delayed from the planned time from 154 days to 170 days with a total project cost of Rp. 2,932,467,150 which indicates that the budgeted costs for the work carried out experienced overhead or cost overruns. By knowing this, the implementer can evaluate the work early so as to minimize the occurrence of project failure.

This research is intended to measure the level of satisfaction or expectations of lecturers and users by using ten service elements as measurement items, with a sample of 80 respondents in XyZ University. To meet the feasibility of the instrument, validity and reliability tests were carried out. The analysis technique was quantitative descriptive through the Index and Importance Performance analysis. The results showed that the level of lecturer satisfaction was in the category of good satisfaction with high expectations, several service elements that needed attention and improvement were; elements of funding sources, providing research facilities and community service proportionally according to needs and achieving service promises in accordance with the research and community service strategic plans that have been proclaimed.

A Comparative Study on Hybrid Vibration Control of Base-isolated Buildings Equipped with ATMD

The vibration control for building structures using hybrid control (base isolators BI and Active Tuned Mass Dampers-ATMDs) has attracted the attention of researchers. This paper establishes a hybrid vibration control system of structure and compares structural response and active tuned mass damper performance among the structure using two different control algorithms (PID and LQR). Through simulation research, from the comparative analysis of performance indexes of structural response and ATMD performance, it is concluded that the LQR controller outperforms the PID controller in reducing the structural responses.

Study of Performance Index and Business Analysis on Chicken Infected by Escherichia coli with Probiotic Provision of Lactic Acid Bacteria

This study was conducted to determine the performance index and business analysis of broilers infected with Escherichia coli by administering lactic acid bacteria probiotics in the form of Lactoped® (Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus fermentatum, Lactobacillus acidophilus). This type of research was true experimental research using a post-test-only control group design. The design used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD). 30 broilers were randomized into three treatments (P0, P1 and P2) in each group with a minimum of six times. Probiotic lactic acid bacteria (LAB) with a concentration of 108 CFU/ml in broilers infected with Escherichia coli showed a higher performance index. It could cover the entire fixed costs so still feasible to do, meanwhile, for the scale of research (10 heads/treatment), it was not yet feasible to implement due to it has suffered losses.
