PENINGKATAN MINAT BACA SISWA MELALUI METODE MEMBACA NYARING DI DESA PANTAI MEKAR

Low interest in reading can lead to low cognitive and intellectual abilities. The school literacy movement is present with the aim of developing good attitudes and noble character through multiliteracy learning, increasing students' interest in reading, and having a strong impact on student development. This community service activity is carried out by combining several methods such as lectures, discussions, and games, through reading aloud activities. The activity was carried out in July 2024. The implementation team created a reading corner and practiced reading aloud techniques for fourth grade students of SD Negeri Pantai Mekar 03, Muaragembong. Students were asked to repeat the content of the story that was read and answer some questions related to the content of the reading. This reading aloud activity was followed by the students with enthusiasm. In addition, students are also given an understanding of the utilization of the reading corner that has been provided. Students were very enthusiastic about seeing the collection of reading books and practicing how to read aloud again. The implementation team hopes that this activity can increase students' interest in reading and make students more happy to read and understand the contents of the reading presented as an effort to improve school literacy.

UX Analysis on SpeedID Application Using Usability Testing Method and System Usability Scale

The SpeedID application is a smart city application developed by a subsidiary of PT Bamboomedia Cipta Persada, namely PT Inovasi Solusi Nusantara since 5 years ago. The SpeedID application wants to present a solution to the city's problems to become a new digital identity for the smart city community. Because it was only developed 5 years ago, the SpeedID application is classified as a new application and has never been analyzed for usability before. Usability analysis is carried out to improve user experience, so that the SpeedID application can be accepted and used more easily by users. This research uses Usability Testing method with Performance Measurement and Retrospective Think Aloud (RTA) techniques and System Usability Scale (SUS). The results obtained are the SpeedID application has a quality that cannot be said to be effective, efficient and meet user satisfaction. In addition, the average score of the System Usability Scale (SUS) Questionnaire is 70.33. The score is rated "C" with an adjective rating of "Good" with the acceptance range included in the "Marginal" category, and finally the net promotion score (NPS) is included in the "Passive" category, which explains that the use of the SpeedID application gets an assessment that is still marginalized by its users. This shows that the SpeedID application still urgently needs correction to improve quality to its users and design improvements also need to be made so that the SpeedID application is even better at meeting user expectations in the future.

Menumbuhkan Minat Baca Anak melalui Penyediaan Pojok Baca dan Metode Reading Aloud di Desa Kutalanggeng Karawang

Reading is one of the types of writing language skills, and the interest and habit of reading among Indonesian society are relatively low. The goal of this Community Service (PkM) is to understand the process, inhibiting factors, driving factors, and teachers' efforts in fostering children's reading interest through the provision of reading corners. The theories underlying this PkM include: non-formal education, the nature of early childhood, reading interest, storytelling methods, storytelling techniques, and storytelling and reading interest. The PkM method used is descriptive method, and the techniques used are observation, documentation study, questionnaire, interview, with a total sampling of 52 children. Based on the PkM findings, it is found that: 1) There is a reading corner and sufficient supporting books, 2) storytelling activities with reading aloud techniques, 3) difficulties in using storytelling methods in the process of fostering reading interest, 4) efforts in fostering children's reading interest carried out by teachers. It can be concluded that within a week, teachers tell stories less than 3 times with a duration of 10-15 minutes. Supporting factors include the availability of storybooks in the reading corner, inhibiting factors include choosing interesting storybooks, and conditioning children during storytelling. Teachers' efforts in fostering children's reading interest are through storytelling with reading aloud techniques and communicating with parents.

The Effectiveness Of Reading Aloud To Improve Students’ Reading Comprehension

At the junior high school level, English is a compulsory subject. Currently, there are many learning methods and media in teaching English, such as media images, slides, videos, etc. However, most teachers still use media in the form of text or reading. There are several techniques that can be used in reading skills, in this study the researcher focused on the 'reading aloud technique' as a teaching method to improve reading comprehension. This research was conducted on class VIII students of MTsN Al-Ikhwan Banjarmasin with a sample of 20 students who were divided into 2 classes, namely control and experimental classes. The test is carried out using multiple choice text. The study took place in 5 meetings with details: 1 pre-test and post-test for the experimental and control classes, 3 treatments using the reading aloud technique in the experimental class. The results of the study were processed using a quantitative approach, the following results were obtained: Average pretest value for the control class: 80, average posttest: 50. Meanwhile in the experimental class, average pretest: 70 and average posttest score: 75 Based on the results this average, it can be stated that the Reading Aloud technique is effective.

Making the BEST decision-the BESTa project development, implementation and evaluation of a digital Decision Aid in Swedish cancer screening programmes- a description of a research project

BackgroundSweden has a long tradition of organized national population-based screening programmes. Participation rates differ between programmes and regions, being relatively high in some groups, but lower in others. To ensure an equity perspective on screening, it is desirable that individuals make an informed decision based on knowledge rather than ignorance, misconceptions, or fear. Decision Aids (DAs) are set to deliver information about different healthcare options and help individuals to visualize the values associated with each available option. DAs are not intended to guide individuals to choose one option over another. The advantage of an individual Decision Aid (iDA) is that individuals gain knowledge about cancer and screening by accessing one webpage with the possibility to communicate with health professionals and thereafter make their decision regarding participation. The objective is therefore to develop, implement and evaluate a digital iDA for individuals invited to cancer screening in Sweden.MethodsThis study encompasses a process-, implementation-, and outcome evaluation. Multiple methods will be applied including focus group discussions, individual interviews and the usage of the think aloud technique and self-reported questionnaire data. The project is based on The International Patient Decision Aid Standards (IPDAS) framework and the proposed model development process for DAs. Individuals aged 23–74, including women (the cervical-, breast- and CRC screening module) and men (the CRC screening module), will be included in the developmental process. Efforts will be made to recruit participants with self-reported physical and mental limitations, individuals without a permanent residence and ethnic minorities.DiscussionTo the best of our knowledge, the present study is the first attempt aimed at developing an iDA for use in the Swedish context. The iDA is intended to facilitate shared decision making about participation in screening. Furthermore, the iDA is expected to increase knowledge and raise awareness about cancer and cancer screening.Patient or public contributionLay people are involved throughout the whole development and implementation process of the digital DA.Trial registrationNCT05512260.

Analisa Usability Pada Aplikasi Identitas Kependudukan Digital Menggunakan Metode Usability Testing

The digital population application is an application managed by the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration under the Ministry of Home Affairs. This application serves to convert physical documents into digital format, making them accessible anywhere using smartphones. The existence of this digital population application is expected to facilitate the process of managing population documents. However, some users have expressed complaints about the digital population application, including interface issues and system problems. Based on these issues, a usability analysis is needed to assess effectiveness, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The method used for the analysis is Usability Testing, which employs two techniques: performance measurement to assess effectiveness and efficiency, and Retrospective Think Aloud technique to evaluate customer satisfaction. Through Usability Testing, it has been found that the digital population application scored below the minimum value for the effectiveness aspect, while the efficiency aspect obtained a score that meets the standard. As for customer satisfaction, the results from the questionnaire indicate an optimal outcome.

USABILITY TESTING OF THE HI JOBS! APPLICATION USING THE PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT AND THE CONCURRENT THINK ALOUD TECHNIQUES

Hi Jobs! is a mobile application that will help people find work because it provides various information concerning job vacancies. This application is still relatively new and has never been tested before. However, this application already has several criticisms and suggestions from users regarding problems that had occurred when using the Hi Jobs! application. The problems that occurred were related to aspects of application usability. Therefore, usability testing is needed to determine the effectiveness, efficiency and user satisfaction when using the Hi Jobs! application using Performance Measurement and Concurrent Think Aloud techniques. The test was conducted on 20 participants who were divided into two categories, advanced and novice. The results of the study showed that advanced participants had a success rate of 96% with a total of one failed task, while novice participants had a success rate of 89% with a total of four failed tasks. The average time for participants in the advanced category was 30 seconds and the novice category was 37 seconds. Based on the results of interviews conducted, there were problems with 4 application features of the Hi Jobs! application. In conclusion, this application was very effective but it was not efficient nor has it meet user satisfaction because there are some features that are difficult to find. Therefore, recommendations for improvement have been made based on the received criticisms and suggestions to meet user satisfaction.

Assistive technology usage, unmet needs and barriers to access: a sub-population-based study in India.

Assistive technology (AT) is essential to minimize functional limitations. The current study aimed to estimate the prevalence of needs, met and unmet needs for AT, and barriers to accessing AT among a subnational population in India. This cross-sectional study was conducted in eight districts, representing four zones of India, using the WHO Rapid Assistive Technology Assessment (rATA) tool. The tool was administered by trained staff using read aloud technique. Multi-stage cluster random sampling was used, as well as the probability proportional to size, to select smaller administrative units from the larger ones. In total, 8486 participants were surveyed out of 8964 individuals enumerated with a response rate of 94.6%. The sample prevalence of at least one difficulty was 31.8% (2700), with 6.3% (532) having severe or total difficulties. The sample prevalence for AT need was 27.8% (2357) with an estimated population prevalence of 24.5% (95% CI: 23.5-25.4). Similarly, the sample prevalence of unmet needs was 9.7% (823) with an estimated population unmet needs of 8.0% (95% CI: 7.43-8.60). The unmet needs among persons with severe or total difficulties was 52.3% (278/532), and was higher among females, rural residents, and older persons. Spectacles were the most used products, followed by canes/sticks, tripods, and quadripods. Nearly two-thirds of AT users purchased assistive products at their own expense, particularly from the private sector. The inability to afford AT (36.9%) was the most common barrier. The results show that the need for AT was substantial in the study population, the highest being for seeing difficulties. The unmet needs are higher in females, older population, rural residents, and persons having serious difficulties. While the majority of users have to make out-of-pocket payments to obtain AT, inability to afford and limited availability were the common barriers among those with unmet needs. Evidence-based information-seeking behaviors of nursing students: Concurrent think aloud technique

BackgroundWith the expansion of scientific information, and the beginning of evidence-based practice (EBP), embracing “evidence-based information-seeking behaviors” is essential to provide effective up-to-date nursing care. To better support students’ evidence-based information-seeking behaviors, this study explores how nursing students actually search and identify evidence-based information. MethodsA concurrent think aloud technique was employed in which 12 nursing students were asked to verbalize their thoughts whilst using search engines to find EBP to inform their practice. ResultsIn general, searching literature per se is complex and many different searching activities are employed, including triggering, recalling, scanning, linking, accessing, retrieving, relating, extracting, evaluating and referencing. The search behavior may involve some iteration of the cyclical activities of scanning, linking and accessing. It is believed that background (recalling pre-existing knowledge), assessing relevancy, evaluating and referencing are pertinent to evidence-based practice information-seeking behavior. In view of this, the study proposes a new model of evidence-based information-seeking behaviors. ConclusionThis study presents an evidence-based information-seeking behavior model based on a number of identified searching features. Results may have important practical implications for nursing educators.

127 A formative usability evaluation of a community pharmacist-facing health information exchange (HIE) interface

OBJECTIVES/GOALS: To evaluate the usability of a HIE interface design among community pharmacists and technicians to identify opportunities for design improvements METHODS/STUDY POPULATION: Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians employed at Indiana community pharmacies participated in formative usability testing, via a Rapid Usability Evaluation (RUE), with an interactive, PDF prototype of the HIE interface. Participants were video-recorded to capture first impressions on the usability of the HIE prototype via the think aloud technique. Each participant had up to 1 hour to complete 4 clinical scenarios. Afterwards, participants completed the System Usability Scale (SUS; scale 0–100, with 100 being the best) to rate their satisfaction with the HIE prototype. RESULTS/ANTICIPATED RESULTS: Across 3 community pharmacies, 16 individuals participated in usability testing: 8 pharmacists and 8 technicians. The average SUS score for the HIE interface across participants from all sites was 70. Pharmacists on average scored the interface higher than technicians, 74 vs. 65, respectively. Initial findings from one pharmacy revealed that both pharmacists and technicians expressed a desire for improved efficiency (i.e. fewer clicks ) to access HIE data, alternative placement of HIE links within existing systems, and improved navigation to exit HIE links. DISCUSSION/SIGNIFICANCE: Initial results reveal opportunities to improve the HIE interface usability. Findings will inform design improvements to the interface and the creation of a toolkit to support the sustainable and scalable participation in HIE by community pharmacies.

Cognitive interviewing as a method to inform questionnaire design and validity - Immersive Technology Evaluation Measure (ITEM) for healthcare education

Research of immersive technology in education is rapidly expanding with potential to educate future students in healthcare disciplines. Despite increasing literature there is a lack of validated instruments to investigate the effects of these technologies. Cognitive interviewing is a valuable evaluation method to check comprehension of a measure and was applied to a new measure of user experience of immersive technology for healthcare education (ITEM). A 5 domain self-reported measure of: immersion, intrinsic motivation, cognitive load, system usability, and debrief. Prior to the interview 9 participants were allocated to augmented reality and virtual reality educational activities. Verbal probing and think aloud techniques through semi-structured cognitive interviews were conducted. The ITEM was found to have high content validity index scores and relationships between domains were further explored through qualitative analysis. The results indicate high clarity of understanding for those completing the ITEM and supports future research as part of an ongoing validation process.

User-Centered Design to Reduce Inappropriate Blood Transfusion Orders

To improve blood transfusion practices, we applied user-centered design (UCD) to evaluate potential changes to blood transfusion orders. The aim of the study is to build effective transfusion orders with different designs to improve guideline adherence. We developed three different versions of transfusion orders that varied how information was presented to clinicians ordering blood transfusions. We engaged 14 clinicians (residents, advanced practice providers [APPs], and attending physicians) from different specialties. We used the think aloud technique and rapid qualitative analysis to generate themes to incorporate into our modified orders. Most end-users who participated in the semi-structured interviews preferred the interruptive alert design plus behavioral nudges (n = 8/14, 57%). The predominant rationale was that the in-line alert was not visually effective in capturing the end-user's attention, while the interruptive alert forced a brief stop in the workflow to consider the guidelines. All users supported the general improvements, though for different reasons, and as a result, the general improvements remained in the designs for the forthcoming trial. The user experience uncovered through the think aloud approach produced a clear and rich understanding of potentially confounding factors in the initial design of different intervention versions. Input from end-users guided the creation of all three designs so each was addressing human factors with parity, which ensured that the results of our study reflected differences in interruptive properties of the alerts and not differences in design.

The Effect of Reading Aloud Strategy for Developing Reading Habits

The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not the reading aloud technique aided eighth-grade junior high school students in developing reading habits. This is pre-experimental quantitative research. The instruments utilized in this study will be a test and a questionnaire. This study's population included 56 students from two classes, with 29 serving as the sample. The data was collected in the classroom using a reading-aloud activity. Descriptive and inferential statistics were utilized to analyze the data from the reading aloud application, as well as questionnaire analysis to assess the students' reading habits. The data demonstrated that majority of the students in the classroom were acquiring reading habits as a result of Reading Aloud. Strategy was applied and it proved that the Reading Aloud Strategy was effective to develop the students’ reading habits. Based on the findings, it is therefore recommended among others that students should start to apply this strategy in case to develop their reading habits which are useful for their future and it was recommended that teachers should help students pay more attention to their reading attitude. It can be done by providing a variety of books, encouraging independent reading, or organizing class activities. And the teacher encourages their students to read extensively.

THE ENGLISH TEACHER TECHNIQUES IN TEACHING READING COMPREHENSION AT SMKN 1 MAMASA

This study aims to find out (1) the techniques applied by the English teachers in teaching reading comprehension, (2) whether or not the teaching technique is effectively applied in reading comprehension. This study applied a qualitative method. The participants in this research were 4 English teachers and students consisting of 4 classes for observation, and 10 students per class for interview in SMKN 1 Mamasa. Which was taken through purposive sampling technique. The data of this study were collected by observation, interview, and documentation. The obtained data were analyzed in four major phases namely data collection, data reduction, presentation of data and conclusion drawing. The result of this study revealed that, (1) there are four techniques that are applied by English teachers in teaching comprehension, namely read aloud technique (read aloud together / reading aloud one by one), read over and over, questions answering, and enrich vocabulary through translation and memorizing, (2) when teachers taught using those techniques students become enthusiastic about learning, active, participating, able to understand the contents of the reading, and able to answer the questions given by the teacher. The result also shows that the four teachers applied all the techniques effectively in teaching reading comprehension and based on students’ response all of the techniques applied were more than 80% effective. Therefore, the result of this study indicated that the techniques used by the teachers in SMKN 1 Mamasa, such as Read aloud together/reading aloud one by one, read over and over, questions and answering and Enrich vocabulary throung transalation and memorizing, are effective to the students in learning reading comprehensive of English language.

EYL's PERCEPTIONS ABOUT THE USE OF READING ALOUD TECHNIQUE FOR STUDENTS' COGNITIVE AND AFFECTIVE IN READING SKILL

One of the skills used to obtain information is reading skills. Reading is the first step and very important if you want to get a knowledge or information. Reading culture or literacy habits in Indonesia have a very low percentage compared to other countries. It will be more difficult if the student is learning a new language and has no interest whatsoever in reading. To overcome this, a technique is known to improve students' reading skills, especially in learning English. This study aims to determine the perception of EYL students in the use of reading aloud techniques for their reading skills in terms of cognitive and affective aspects. In addition, this study used narrative inquiry as a research design and data collection is carried out through interviews. The data were analyzed by categorizing and interpreting the data using Braun and Clarke’s theory. The results indicated that the students had positive responses based on their experiences using reading aloud technique in reading skill. For cognitive aspect, reading aloud technique improved students’s reading comprehension. Furthermore the data showed that for affective aspects, reading aloud technique increased students’ reading interest, improve students’ self-confidence and motivation to learn English better.Keywords: English Young learners (EYL), Reading Aloud Technique, Cognitive aspects, Affective aspects.

Improving the User Experience with Discount Site-Specific User Testing.

Poor electronic health record (EHR) usability is associated with patient safety concerns, user dissatisfaction, and provider burnout. EHR certification requires vendors to perform user testing. However, there are no such requirements for site-specific implementations. Health care organizations customize EHR implementations, potentially introducing usability problems. Site-specific usability evaluations may help to identify these concerns, and "discount" usability methods afford health systems a means of doing so even without dedicated usability specialists. This report characterizes a site-specific discount user testing program launched at an academic medical center. We describe lessons learned and highlight three of the EHR features in detail to demonstrate the impact of testing on implementation decisions and on users. Thirteen new EHR features which had already undergone heuristic evaluation and iterative design were evaluated over the course of three user test events. Each event included five to six users. Participants used think aloud technique. Measures of user efficiency, effectiveness, and satisfaction were collected. Usability concerns were characterized by the type of usability heuristic violated and by correctability. Usability concerns occurred at a rate of 2.5 per feature tested. Seventy percent of the usability concerns were deemed correctable prior to implementation. The first highlighted feature was moved to production despite low single ease question (SEQ) scores which may have predicted its subsequent withdrawal from production based on post implementation feedback. Another feature was rebuilt based on usability findings, and a new version was retested and moved to production. A third feature highlights an easily correctable usability concern identified in user testing. Quantitative usability metrics generally reinforced qualitative findings. Simplified user testing with a limited number of participants identifies correctable usability concerns, even after heuristic evaluation. Our discount usability approach to site-specific usability has a role in implementations and may improve the usability of the EHR for the end user.

Arabic Reading Learning Techniques for Children based on Ali Achmad Madzkur’s Perspective

Arabic is one of the official languages of the United Nations, which is essential for all nations to have as a means of global communication between countries. In a country with a majority Muslim population like Indonesia, apart from being a means of communication, Arabic has a special place as a medium for worship and deepening knowledge of the Islamic religion. Mastering Arabic is necessary for all Muslims, young and old, even children. Non-Arabic speakers cannot automatically master Arabic because it is not their mother tongue; therefore, specific techniques to learn it, especially in reading skills. This study aims to describe comprehensively the technique of learning to read Arabic from the perspective of Ali Achmad Madzkur. The researcher uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods in this type of literature research. The study results stated that the techniques of learning to read Arabic for children from the perspective of Ali Achmad Madzkur include; listening and speaking techniques, reading aloud techniques, analysis techniques, letter identification techniques, and composing techniques.

Patients\u2019 preferences for telemedicine versus in-clinic consultation in primary care during the COVID-19 pandemic

BackgroundThe Hybrid Patient Care system integrates telehealth and in-clinic consultation. While COVID-19 increased telehealth use, healthcare providers are still seeking the best combination of virtual and in-clinic consultation. Understanding patients’ tele-consultation-related preferences is vital for achieving optimal implementation. The discrete choice experiment (DCE) is the stated preference technique for eliciting individual preferences and is increasingly being used in health-related applications.The study purpose was to evaluate attributes and levels of the DCE regarding patients’ preferences for telemedicine versus traditional, in-clinic consultation in primary care during the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to facilitate successful implementation.MethodsA three-phase structure was used in the qualitative stage of the DCE: (1) a literature review and preparation of interview guides; (2) Eight focus group interviews comprised of 26 patients and 33 physicians; and (3) Attribute selection: a ranking exercise among 48 patients. The Think Aloud technique, in which respondents are asked to verbalize their thoughts, was used in the focus groups. Interview data were analyzed by thematic analysis.ResultsEight attributes were proposed by the patients in the focus groups. The four most important attributes were then selected in pre-testing, and are described in this study: Availability, time until the appointment, severity of the medical problem, patient-physician relationship, and flexible reception hours.ConclusionsThis study has a theoretical contribution in post-COVID-19 patients’ preferences in Hybrid Medicine patient care. This provides a foundation to assess the rigors of this stage and provide additional evidence to the limited existing literature on attributes development for DCE patient preferences.

Reading aloud technique as a resource to develop reading skills in EFL

Introduction. Reading aloud is a technique that has been used in different settings in order to improve reading comprehension. Objective. This study aimed to understand the impact of reading aloud techniques with college students who took English class as a requirement to continue with their studies to get a college degree. Methodology. They were students who passed the English level A2 and aimed to reach a B1 at the end of the semester. There were 28 students who participated in this study and they had to read texts for a period of seven weeks. The instructor provided a text each week and they had to use an application, record their voice while reading the text within a period of time and send it to receive a feedback. The students` performance was collected and analyzed through the use of a rubric during the whole process. The Wilcoxon test was used to examine the results of the pretest and posttest since there was only one group who participated in the study. At the end, the rubric results were organized and statistically analyzed. Results. The findings showed that there was significant difference after using reading aloud technique in students reading skills development. Conclusions. Reading aloud technique should be used as an strategy to improve reading performance in the English language at a college level.
