Analisis Penerapan 5S di Tempat Kerja: Pendekatan dari Perspektif Karyawan PT. PKC

A warehouse is a place used to store and store goods owned by a company. There are many activities carried out in the warehouse, starting from the goods data collection process to the goods management process. PT. PKC is not yet optimal and there are still several problems such as a poor management system and irregular spare parts delivery scheduling. Therefore, the 5S method is needed so that warehouse management can be better and more efficient. There is the 5S method (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu & Shitsuke) which is a management approach to organizing, cleaning, and maintaining an efficient, orderly, and productive work environment. The results of evaluation of 5S implementation in PT warehouse. PKC The assessment of the implementation of Seiri is included in a good classification with a score of 62%, the assessment of the implementation of Seiton is also in a good classification with a score of 67%, the assessment for the implementation of Seiso, is classified as good with a score of 74%, while the assessment for Seiketsu is in a reasonable classification with a score of 50%, and the assessment for the implementation of Shitsuke is categorized as sufficient with a score of 50%. Implementation of 5S and Safety Awareness in the Classroom Environment at Telkom University Surabaya

The application of 5S culture is now an obligation that must be implemented by every place for the convenience of users or building occupants. The implementation of 5S that has been designed can produce an effective, efficient, productive work culture and uphold work safety. 5S culture is a culture of one of the concepts of industrial engineering. This concept is simple, easy to understand, and is the first step in the dissemination of industrial engineering culture. 5S itself is not only applied to office buildings but can also be applied to classes where various activities are carried out and also require 5S to avoid danger. There is one effective approach to increasing security awareness and ensuring a conducive work environment through implementing 5S (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, and Shitsuke). This 5S implementation provides insight into work safety around us. Data analysis by collecting data sourced from related journals and also by observing the object to be studied. Implementation of the 5S concept and safety awareness is very important, especially in classrooms on campus consisting of many people, so the risk of work accidents will be high if not balanced by the implementation of 5S and safety awareness.

Spare parts warehouse re-layout design with kaizen 5S implementation to reduce wasted time searching for machine parts

Increasing the productivity and efficiency of production machines cannot be separated from the availability of machine spare parts in the warehouse department. Delays in the delivery of spare parts if machine problems occur often become a problem that disrupts efficiency. This delay was caused by the search for engine spare parts in the warehouse taking too long to find. The long search time was caused by the irregular placement of the materials and the messy condition of the warehouse. This research aims to make improvements to the goods search process to make it faster and more effective in the warehouse area and increase warehouse capacity using warehouse re-layout. This research method uses the implementation of warehouse re-layouts combined with the application of Kaizen 5S in controlling the condition of machine spare parts. This research found that the reason for the long search time for machine spare parts was due to the lack of knowledge of warehouse operators and the absence of training regarding the application of the 5S method, as well as the careless placement of spare parts in warehouses that were not neatly arranged. This research has resulted in a reduction in search time for engine spare parts from 6.4 minutes to 4 minutes per spare part unit or a decrease of 36.5%. Meanwhile, the results of the warehouse re-layout resulted in an increase in warehouse capacity from 80 pallets to 316 pallets, an increase of 395%.

An industrial water pump importing company relies on a network of distribution warehouses to efficiently manage the storage and delivery of its products to clients. This paper delves into the operational intricacies of the company, with a primary focus on sustaining a superior level of service to meet customer demands, all while attempting to minimize costs and achieve optimal inventory control. The central aspects explored in this research encompass the meticulous determination of the number of pipes needed and the optimal ordering times. To address this, the Probabilistic Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method is used and supported by 5S concept, recognized for its ability to provide reasonably accurate estimates crucial for pivotal decision-making in inventory management. The utilization of the Probabilistic EOQ method in this context reflects the company’s commitment to adopting sophisticated and proven methodologies to enhance decision-making accuracy and the warehouse area is more suitable by the 5S implementation principles. The research outcomes not only assist in refining the determination of Safety Stock levels but also contribute valuable insights into the precise quantities of goods that should be ordered. This strategic approach aligns with the company’s overarching goal of achieving cost-efficiency without compromising on the ability to efficiently meet customer demands. These upcoming insights could encompass innovative strategies, technological implementations, or advances in supply chain optimization.

Effectiveness of Patient Health Services at IPKT RSUD.

The study "Quality of Patient Health Services at the Integrated Cancer Service Installation" conducted at a district general hospital aimed to assess the health service quality for cancer patients. The researchers used a descriptive qualitative method, including observation and interviews, and employed the theory of effectiveness by Parasuraman, Zeithami, and Berry (1988) with indicators such as tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. The results indicated a need to increase facilities, good performance by the officers, and positive findings in terms of responsiveness, assurance (5S implementation), and empathy. The implication of the study is to highlight areas for improvement in health service quality for cancer patients. The title for the scientific article could be "Enhancing Cancer Patient Care: A Quality Assessment of Health Services." Application of Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) for Defect Reduction: A Case Study on Scratch Defects in Oil Separator Parts in Machining Line

This study addresses the problem of significant defect rates on Oil Separator Parts in machining line, especially focusing on scratch defects. The defect rate reached 0.495%, exceeding the company's target of 0.1%. In the approach using FMEA, potential failure modes were identified and rated based on Risk Priority Number to plan corrective actions. Effort and Impact Analysis was used to analyze the most effective action recommendations. Implementation of the 5S methodology was selected as the improvement solution, which focused on workplace organization, maintenance, and cleanliness. The results were positive, with the number of defects decreasing dramatically from 540 to 67 units in July 2023, and the defect rate dropping from 0.495% to 0.145%. Although the company's quality targets have not been fully achieved, the FMEA approach and 5S implementation have been shown to significantly improve production quality and reduce defects. This study proves that this approach has the potential to address complex quality issues, although further challenges may be required to achieve the final goals set.

A solution approach proposal with a lean perspective for the poultry sector with WRM and BWM integration

PurposeThis study aims to analyze lean wastes for the poultry sector in Turkey and link lean tools to this study, focusing on identifying each lean waste that affects poultry production and proposing solutions for preventing these lean wastes in the sector. The proposed solutions aim to improve processes by suggesting different lean tools and their applications for the poultry sector.Design/methodology/approachThe study consists of two different applications. First, the waste relationship matrix (WRM) was created to reveal the relationship between seven lean wastes and their importance order. Then, after determining lean tools for eliminating lean wastes, the optimum weight ranking and consistency ratio of the most suitable lean tools were calculated for these wastes and ranked with the best-worst method (BWM).FindingsResults showed that overproduction is the most critical waste that impacts other wastes, followed by defect waste. Due to the nature of the sector, these wastes not only result in economic loss for the company but also in food waste and loss and issues related to animal welfare. Furthermore, the Kaizen approach and 5S implementation are the methods to eliminate these wastes. Detailed discussion on the link between lean tools and lean wastes is provided for the poultry sector.Originality/valueThis is the first study that theoretically and empirically identifies the potential lean waste affecting the poultry sector and provides lean tools for eliminating these wastes. Sector-specific explanations and discussions are presented in the study to show the applicability of lean approaches in the poultry sector to eliminate waste. In addition, this study is the first to integrate the WRM and BWM.

The need for electrical energy every year always increases in accordance with economic growth and community welfare. One of the factors that influence this is the development in the field of industry and business which is growing rapidly. As a leading company in Indonesia, PT. PLN (Persero) always strives to provide the best service to its customers by paying attention to the satisfaction of each customer. The method section is written with a length of 15 – 20% of the length of the article, containing the research design, data collection techniques and data sources and methods of data analysis. The number of feeder disturbances is the number of feeder trips in a year. As for the recap of the number of feeder disturbances from ULP Anyer, namely feeder disturbances at ULP Anyer for the 2018 period as many as 11 times to the feeder, for the 2019 period there were 5 feeder disturbances, and for the 2020 period ULP Anyer obtained zero feeder disturbances. ULP Anyer needs attention as a pilot unit for 5S implementation (perfect ROW, perfect in materials, perfect in construction, perfect in protection, and perfect in inspection) in the PLN area of ??the Customer Service Implementing Unit (UP3), North Banten.

Hubungan Perilaku dan Pengawasan Terhadap Penerapan 5S Pada Pekerja di Departemen Jetty PT. XYZ

Companies must not only offer appropriate infrastructure in their production processes to attain optimum profitability, but they must also cultivate a healthy corporate culture. Univariate analysis is used to describe the properties of each variable's frequency distribution in the table. Bivariate analysis, on the other hand, is used to assess the association between two variables, with the chi-square test used to determine the link. Several adjustments are proposed to boost the efficacy of using the 5S Method. These enhancements may be made by conducting bivariate and univariate analyses to discover variables that impact the performance of the 5S Method implementation. This allows proposals for improvement to be developed and executed. To define the measuring scale, researchers utilized a Likert scale to disseminate the questionnaire. The signature value of 0.044 is less than the 0.05 significance threshold, hence the null hypothesis (H0) is accepted and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is rejected. As a result, it is possible to infer that there is a considerable link between work supervision and 5S implementation in the PT XYZ Jetty department. According to the research results, there is a link between the conduct of XYZ workers and the monitoring of the 5S implementation process.

Edukasi 5S dalam Upaya Continuous Improvement Melalui Audit 5S Pada PT Inti Ganda Perdana (IGP)

The good industrial development in Indonesia gave rise to new industries aimed at increasing production capacity. Efforts are made to increase capacity by carrying out continuous improvement. One that can be done is to provide an understanding of 5S and 5S audits. PT IGP has so far implemented 5S, but sometimes employees still need to be reminded of the 5S implementation. Therefore it is necessary to carry out 5S audits and internalize 5S understanding for employees and management. This Community Service Activity (PkM) was carried out. Beginning with observation, problem identification, literature study, data collection and processing, as well as analysis and giving recommendations, then conclusions and suggestions are made. The audit results show that the average audit score is 3.1 out of a scale of 4. Meanwhile, the score that needs attention is the sort, which is 2.79. From the results of the audit, internalization of 5S understanding was carried out through the creation of a 5S pocket book to increase 5S understanding for employees. By giving a pocket book there is an increase in understanding before internalization is carried out with a pretest with an average score of 60.625 after being given an understanding of 5S, the score becomes 80.625.

Analisis Mutu Pelayanan Keseshatan Rawat Inap Di Rumah Sakit Muhammadiyah Bandung

A hospital is a place to provide short-term and long-term medical services which include diagnostic, therapeutic, observation and rehabilitation activities for all people who are sick or injured and for those who give birth and outpatient services for those who need them according to their illness. The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the quality of inpatient health services at Muhammadiyah Bandung Hospital. According to Parasuraman, Zeithaml, and Berry through their research identified 5 main dimensions, namely reliability, responsiveness, guarantee, empathy, and tangible. This study uses a type of qualitative research with case studies. Service reliability at the hospital is that there are still doctors who are not on time because there are doctors' practice schedules at other hospitals, responsiveness at the hospital is that there is still a lack of 5S implementation, especially for greetings, assurance (Assurance) at the hospital that is, officers still do not fully comply with applicable regulations, empathy (empathy) in the hospital is treating patients according to their needs and responding to complaints openly, namely accepting criticism and suggestions, physical evidence (tangibles) is the existing infrastructure in the hospital, the completeness is still around 70% in terms of hospital type.

Paper Planes for Teaching Construction Production Systems Based on Lean Tools: Continuous Improvement Cells and 5S

Teaching production systems and Lean tools is a challenge for educators in the construction area, which is highlighted by the difficulty of emulating in the classroom the scenarios that industry professionals will face. Hence, implementing pedagogical games has a high potential to improve construction education processes. However, gaps are observed in the proposal of pedagogical games applicable to teaching construction systems based on Lean tools. Considering this gap, this paper proposes a game of paper planes to support the teaching of production systems in construction based on the Lean tools Continuous Improvement Cells and 5S. The research method consisted of applying the Design Science Research (DSR) method to develop, evaluate, and improve the game proposal. Thus, the game was assumed as an artifact subject to a development and improvement process to solve an identified problem. The proposed game consists of three main rounds: (1) production system design, (2) Continuous Improvement Cells implementation, and (3) 5S implementation. The main theoretical and practical contribution is the proposal of a pedagogical game to support the teaching of construction production systems based on Lean tools, evaluating students’ knowledge by applying surveys before and after the game and assessing performance indicators. The application of the game to a group of undergraduate and graduate students showed a broad positive impact on the assimilation of the principles of construction production systems based on Lean tools.

Application of Gamification to Motivate Employees who Implement 5S in Automotive Sector Companies in Poland

The aim of the article is to present the application of the elements of gamification to motivate employees in the 5S implementation. 5S is one of the modern management methods that have been under crisis for the last few years. The crisis was caused mainly by the bureaucratization of the 5S audits, which effectively discouraged assembly line workers. It seems that the application of gamification together with the arrangement of competition and cooperation among employees may be a valuable solution thanks to which they will effectively implement the 5S method. With regard to the 5S method, the application of gamification consists in arranging competitions that resemble European Football Cup. Thus, there are eliminations, group stages, semifinals and finals. As there are defined targets of particular phases, the employees compete and cooperate ; the ones whose teams have the best results, are rewarded. Such activities reinforce companies internally by increasing their competitiveness or innovativeness and they strengthen the integration between the recipients and suppliers, which is necessary in Industry 4.0. The withdrawal from bureaucracy and the application of gamification seems to change the employees’ attitude to the 5S method. A rhetorical question remains how to maintain the staff motivation when the competition is over. An important objective of the article is to present the use of gamification outside its traditional areas of interest, i.e. marketing and human resources.

A Design Thinking Approach: Applying 5S Methodology Effectively in an Industrial Work Environment

Lean thinking, tools and methods can improve and change companies’ internal processes, cultural norms, and shared values to achieve a stronger state of operational excellence and bring companies greater competitive advantage. 5S is a Lean tool that aims for a well-organized and safe working environment, increased quality, and productivity optimization by organizing the manufacturing processes to be waste-free by maintaining and organizing the workplace using the 5S concept. Even tough 5S concept and its implementation processes are often well documented, the actual translation work of the 5S concept into functional and successful solutions in a production environment that has pre-existing value systems and processes is still lacking more profound and nuanced investigation. Additionally, engineers responsible for the 5S implementation process have a need for precise tools and methods to understand the user experience and ensure customer-centricity in their decision-making. To understand more profoundly the connection between the 5S concept and user centricity, this article applies Design Thinking method and tools to a 5S implementation process. The goal of combining these two methods is to investigate what is a functional and user-friendly way to eliminate non-value adding activities and improve safety, functionality, and productivity in a production cell using 5S methodology. The results of this research show that the floor surface area that is required to store hoisting motor buffer has decreased by 80%. Also, the waste in form of unnecessary transport in that buffer area has decreased to a fifth when compared to the original situation. The results of this research show that the Design Thinking method and its tools not only fit, but also foster 5S implementation processes.

Conditions including the framework of the technology and manufacturing industry, the specifics of mining, development, and transportation lines of enterprise, ignorant and underqualified manufacturing workers, incapacity to adjust to technological advancements, environmental degradation, production organization layout, and the failure to use individual protective equipment and equipment guardians could all lead to occupational fatalities, particularly in underdeveloped and emerging nations.. As a consequence of the specific application, an assessment was carried out in the perspective of worker productivity and commercial performance of the operations.

Overview of 5S Housekeeping Implementation in Covid-19 Buildings in University General Hospital of Malang

Housekeeping is necessary in the workplace, especially in healthcare facilities. Housekeeping involves several aspects such as 5S. 5S is a systematic technique used by organizations that comes from five Japanese words: Seiri (sort), Seiton (set in order), Seiso (shine), Seiketsu (standardize), and Shitsuke (sustain). A comfortable working environment will improve the efficiency, productivity, quality and safety. This study aimed to describe and evaluate the application of 5S in the Covid-19 infectious installation at a hospital in Malang, especially in the patient care rooms in the intensive care unit, the operation rooms, and the patient care ward. This study used observational and descriptive approaches with a cross-sectional design. The sample included authorized officers in each area. According to the findings, the implementation of 5S in the Covid-19 infectious installation needs to be increased, become the priority, and be supported by top-level management. However, it is recommended that a longitudinal study be conducted to investigate whether there are long-term benefits attained from 5S implementation in the Covid-19 infectious installation.

Trauma Resuscitation Room Organization Using 5S Methodology: A Quality Improvement Initiative.

Trauma centers are required to have immediate availability of resources to stabilize traumatic injuries. However, maintaining trauma room organization can be challenging in the fast turnaround environment of trauma care. Implementation of 5S methodology has shown success in standardizing processes to maintain organized, efficient workspaces. The purpose of this study was to assess the implementation of 5S methodology on trauma resuscitation room organization, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. This quality improvement pre- and postintervention study assessed the impact of 5S methodology on trauma resuscitation room organization. A 20-question survey was developed and administered to emergency department technicians before and after a multiphase intervention that included strategies for room reorganization, improved signage, creation of workstations, education, and implementation of a log sheet system. A final cost analysis was evaluated upon completion. Emergency department technicians completed n = 26 presurveys and n = 19 postsurveys. Room organization improved from preintervention 31% to postintervention 89%. Restocking with a checklist improved from 46% preintervention to 63% postintervention. A cost analysis summary identified 130 overstocked items equaling a total cost savings of $4,026.82. The 5S methodology improved trauma bay organization by sorting, organizing, standardizing, labeling, and color coding resuscitation supplies based on the ABCDE (airway, breathing, circulation, disability, and exposure) of the primary survey. Additional strategies included improved signage, workspace reorganization, staff education, and checklist restocking accountability. The 5S implementation resulted in significant cost savings.

THE IMPLEMENTATION OF 5S WORK CULTURE (SEIRI, SEITON, SEISO, SEIKETSU AND SHITSUKE) AT KHANSA OTO CARE

Khansa Oto Care is a service provider to pamper vehicles with its services, namely car wash, nitrogen filling, oil and air filter change service, and accessories sale to make vehicles interiors comfortable. The work environment has not implemented the 5S system such as unused items are present in the work environment (Seiri), items have no storing place (Seiton), there is a lot of oil and plastic waste (Seiso), lack of caring for work equipment (Seiketsu), and the lack of the workers discipline in implementing the work culture (Shitsuke). The purposes of this research were to implement the 5S Work Culture and to find out its effect on the workers activities after the implementation The approach taken was by observation, distributing questionnaires using the Likert scale method, interviews, and documentation of the 5S implementation. Based on the implementation of the 5S Work Culture, it provided comfort and flexibility for the workers in carrying out their work (Seiri), it eased the workers to find the work items (Seiton), it provided comfort for the workers in doing their work (Seiso), it made the work equipment always in an optimal condition and reduced the risk of machine damage, thus, it could minimize the equipment damage cost (Seiketsu), and as an implementation form of commitment of the owner and the work (Shitsuke). Based on the program score, the score before the 5S implementation was 34.3% which was in the category of bad. After the implementation, it showed the score of 92.5% which was in the category of very good. It means that all of the workers recognized that the 5S Work Culture had a good impact on the work environment.

Minimization of Non-Value-Added Activities in an Aerospace Industry

Abstract-- The industry was having lesser productivity than the required due to the presence of certain ‘non-value added’ activities. Hence, the requirement was to improve productivity by means of cost reduction and rationalisation of manpower. Since the main purpose was to eliminate any process that does not add value to the final output. To reduce the waste, the lean manufacturing is the best choice among the available techniques. The Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is one of the major components in lean manufacturing techniques. This helps in identifying the major opportunities for performance improvement in the assembly line of the aerospace industry. The Value Stream Mapping was developed in the required assembly lines of the aerospace industry. The Value Stream Mapping consists of Time-Study, 5s implementation and skill based line balancing at the required workstations. Time-Study was conducted at the bottleneck workstations. The results were analysed by categorising them as value added (VA) and non-value added (NVA) components. This has benefited in identifying waste in the assembly line. The activities which were not adding value to the final product were eliminated and compared with previous results.
