תקציר הספרות העוסקת בטראומה ואובדן מדגישה את איכותם הפרדוקסאלית של אירועים טראומטיים, כל שכן אירועים אשר התרחשו תחת אלימות קיצונית, סכנת מוות, תוקפנות והרס קיצוניים. הדגש הוא על הפער בין עוצמת האירוע לבין אי היכולת לתקשר אותו מילולית, כלומר להפעיל עליו תהליכי ייצוג, הסמלה וסימון.קריסת המסמנים המילוליים, היעדר תחביר נגיש וקוהרנטי והאילמות שמתלווה להם הם שעשויים אולי להעיד על מה שלא ניתן להעיד עליו.הצירוף “אין מילים” שב וחוזר בדבריהם של ניצולי ‘השבת השחורה’ ושל מי שנחלצו לחלצם מאימת המוות והזוועות. ניצולים ומצילים כאחד חשים אילמים בניסיון לומר את שראו וחוו. שפת חיי היום יום, טרם ‘השבת השחורה’, כשלה במשימה של מתן תוקף והעברת האירוע, החוויה וההתמודדות שבתוכם נלכדו. המאמר יבקש להאיר, דרך דוגמאות ודרך כתיבתו של המשורר פול צ’לאן, את מצב ה’אין-שפה’ בהקשר של טראומה, אבדן ואֵבֶל מנקודת מבט של הסובייקט הדובר ושל הזולת המאזין, ולהציע את מעמד העֵדוּת וההקשבה לעֵדוּת כמצע ליצירת תחביר, ליצירת השפה של ה’אין-שפה’ בהקשר של מוראות ‘השבת השחורה’ .

תקציר ה-7 באוקטובר 2023 היה נקודת שבר טקטונית של המציאות הישראלית; זעזוע עמוק בתפיסתה העצמית. האמון במדינה הישראלית, ביכולתה להגן באמת על קיומה הפיזי, החברתי והרוחני, התערער מיסודו. האסון הקיומי, הממשיך במלחמה מאז, הביא עימו חרדה מפני כוחות ההרס היוצאים ממנו ומשפיעים על התרבות הישראלית כולה . החרדה היא כפולה: לא רק המלחמה מביאה עימה הרס, אלא גם מנהיגי המדינה בזמן הזה, ובראשם ראש הממשלה בנימין נתניהו, המחוללים בכוונה ברורה שסע במרקם החברה הישראלית ומעצימים את האיבה בין חלקיה. נתניהו ומחנהו מערערים, בכוונה גלויה ומתוך רצון ברור שנועד לדעתם לחזקם, שלושה מן היסודות הרוחניים העיקריים של הציונות שעד הדור האחרון: א. השלילה העקרונית של עמדת הנקמה, ב. הרס ההכרה בטראגיות המהותית של העשייה הציונית ו- ג, הרס מושג ״האנחנו״ של היחד הציוני: ה״אנחנו״ הנמשך משירת התהילים ועד הדורות האחרונים. הרס היסודות הללו מסכן את עצם המשכה של התרבות הישראלית, שהיתה, עד התקופה האחרונה, מן התרבויות המפוארות בעולם כולו.

ABSTRACT In an interview, Annie Lee Jones asks the evocative questions, “Who gets to have knowledge about themselves? How do we construct what knowledge is and what it is not? How do systems give us the authority to decide what’s knowable by the person who presents themselves to us for treatment?” Dr Jones reflects on her experiences over a lifetime of being a psychoanalyst. Dr Jones also shares her worry that psychoanalysts are standing on the sidelines of many social issues that are embedded in psychoanalytic theory and practice. Interactions are not just two-way, Dr Jones illuminates, but multi-faceted and she exhorts us to expand psychoanalysis, starting from intently wondering about our patients’ lived experiences and the many unnoticed cuts they have experienced, racially, economically, etc. to arrive at our consulting room.

ABSTRACT After feeling silenced by the confluence of the George Floyd murder in 2020 with the overwhelm of the pandemic, I found myself preoccupied with an historical event I had not felt ready previously to reflect on—an insurrection, coup, and massacre in my home state of North Carolina occurring in 1898. I began exploring the history of it and writing a series of poems and found that each poem both responded to historical research and, in turn, led me to seek out more research and to reflect on psychoanalytic contributions to topics like collective reparation. The sequence has been a reminder of the ways we turn to language and are changed in turn by it as we seek to alter our relationship to the various traumatic. It also highlights how both poetry and psychoanalysis involve being called to tell the truth.

ABSTRACT With the facilitation of Paula Kliger, the Holmes Commission leadership team engages in a conversation about their journey into exploring race, systemic racism, and othering as they have been perpetuated and enacted within American Psychoanalysis. They describe the development of the Commission, the challenges of intergenerational and transgenerational history and the Commission’s group dynamics, emergent within the Commission members as well as displayed within the overall psychoanalytic community. The conversation opened the doorway to sharing an understanding of the evolution of a deep relational bond so clearly essential for carrying out the mission of the initiative, and how the creation of this bond served as a refuge, a community, for sustaining emotional readiness, strength, and resilience to realize completion of the Holmes Commission’s Final Report.
