  • Feb 13, 2025
  • AJIS: Academic Journal of Islamic Studies
  • Bona Bargot Riezky Nagabe Siregar + 1 more

Marriage represents an essential stage in a Muslim’s life, undertaken after finding a suitable partner and achieving mental and financial readiness. This study explores the criteria for selecting a pious woman (woman ṣāliḥah) through an analysis of sanad and matan. The main objective is to identify and examine these criteria using perspectives from Hadith studies, sociology, and psychology. Theoretically, this research proposes a new conceptual framework that integrates traditional Hadith analysis with modern social and psychological insights. Academically, the findings are expected to enrich the field of Hadith Studies by offering new perspectives on how sanad and matan contribute to understanding women’s piety in the context of marriage. Practically, the study provides valuable guidance for society, especially for men seeking to build stable and harmonious marriages based on Islamic principles. The research employs a qualitative or library-based approach, analyzing textual sources and scholarly opinions. The study finds that the criteria for marrying a pious woman can be evaluated not only through religious authenticity but also from sociological and psychological standpoints. The original contribution of this work lies in its relevance to modern Muslim men, helping them identify key traits of a ṣāliḥah woman as a preferred choice in marriage. The findings suggest that marrying someone of the same faith and similar background enhances harmony and marital satisfaction. Homogamous marriages—those between individuals sharing values, beliefs, and lifestyles—tend to be more enduring and successful. In this context, ṣāliḥah refers to a woman with deep religious understanding and moral integrity.

  • Safana Fauziyah + 1 more

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the ISMUBA curriculum (Al-Islam, Kemuhammadiyahan, and Arabic Language) in Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan learning at SMA Muhammadiyah Program Khusus Kottabarat Surakarta and its impact on the formation of students' Islamic character. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection techniques include observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. Data validity is tested through triangulation of sources and methods. The research findings indicate that implementing the ISMUBA curriculum has been effective, marked by integrating Islamic and Muhammadiyah values into the learning process. Active and contextual learning methods, such as group discussions, case studies, and role-playing, encourage students' full engagement in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. However, challenges remain in the limitations of learning media and the need to enhance teachers' competencies. The original contribution of this research lies in its in-depth exploration of the implementation of the ISMUBA curriculum in the context of Muhammadiyah-based secondary schools, which has rarely been comprehensively studied. These findings enrich the body of knowledge in developing an integrative curriculum based on Islamic values and provide practical recommendations for Muhammadiyah educational institutions to improve the curriculum implementation sustainably.

  • Feb 9, 2025
  • AJIS: Academic Journal of Islamic Studies
  • Insan Akbar + 1 more

The purpose of this article is to explore the phenomenon of homosexuality in the contemporary world from the perspective of the prophetic traditions (Hadith) and to determine how Islamic teachings address the changing perception of sexuality. Through a qualitative thematic content analysis, this paper investigates hadiths of sexual behavior, including prophylactic moral norms and guardians of social ethics. Materials and methods: Data were extracted from six abridged versions of the canonical hadith collections. Using an approach that combines contextuality and normativity guided the analysis of Hadith in the light of the modern social context. The results suggest that the Hadith tradition maintains the heterosexual model as a normative ideal, providing moral advice to discourage deviant (including same-sex) practices through spiritual and legally-based dissuasive sanctions. This research demonstrates that prophetic preaching emphasizes legal prohibitions and promotes a proactive moral cultivation of acts as a preventative framework. The study's practical impact is offering reference material to those in Islamic education (teachers), preaching, and policy-making circles on how to critically and constructively respond to the problem of homosexuality that combines moral rigor with spiritual direction. What makes this book unique is its unified perspective that references both classical religious literature and modern social practices, thereby allowing for a comprehensive and sophisticated view of the function of Hadith in combating modern moral issues.

Trade and commerce are essential to the economic activities of society, encompassing the exchange of goods or services with the purpose of deriving economic advantages. Within the framework of Indonesian law, these transactions are governed not only by civil regulations but also by Sharia principles, especially concerning adherence to religious and ethical standards. This study aims to examine the legal standing of transactions involving palm sap (nira water) utilized in the production of alcoholic beverages, viewed through the lenses of KHES and KUHP in Tanjung Beringin Subdistrict, Serdang Bedagai Regency. This study adopts an empirical juridical research method, employing a qualitative approach with comparative analysis. The research utilizes both primary and secondary sources of data, gathered through techniques such as observations, interviews, and document analysis. The study concludes that, under KHES, transactions involving palm sap intended for manufacturing alcoholic beverages are classified as invalid (fasid). This is due to the prohibition of alcoholic beverages in Sharia law, which renders any transaction related to palm sap for this purpose defective, regardless of whether it meets the formal requirements and conditions of a legitimate sale. As such, these transactions are subject to annulment. Conversely, from the perspective of the Indonesian Civil Code (KUHP), such transactions are deemed legally valid, as there is no specific prohibition against the trade of palm sap for producing alcoholic beverages within its provisions. Consequently, the transfer of ownership and rights from the seller to the buyer is recognized as lawful under civil law.

  • AJIS: Academic Journal of Islamic Studies
  • Arminsyah + 2 more

This research aims to explore and analyze the concept of mediation in the perspective of Islamic law and how it is applied in Indonesian legislation. The main focus is to understand the similarities and differences between the principles of mediation in Islamic law and the mediation regulations applicable in Indonesia, as well as the implications for dispute resolution. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach. Data was collected through a literature study that included Islamic law literature, Indonesian legislation, and other relevant documents. The analysis was conducted by comparing the principles of mediation in Islamic law with the provisions contained in Law No. 30 of 1999 on Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution and the regulations of the Supreme Court of Indonesia related to mediation. The results show that mediation in the perspective of Islamic law emphasizes the principles of justice, equality, and cooperation that are in line with sharia values. On the other hand, Indonesian legislation regulates mediation as an effective and efficient alternative to dispute resolution. Although there are some differences in the procedures and implementation, in general these two legal systems have the same goal, which is to achieve fair and peaceful dispute resolution. This research also found that the integration of the concept of mediation in Islamic law with mediation regulations in Indonesia can enrich and improve the effectiveness of dispute resolution in Indonesia.

Under The Shadow of Patriarchy: Women Position in Minangkabau Matrilineal System
  • Dec 31, 2024
  • AJIS: Academic Journal of Islamic Studies
  • Rahmah Eka Saputri + 3 more

In traditional books it is often said that women in Minangkabau have a high position. The tradition that based on the syariah Islam is presumed to value her exixtance, care about her welfare, and listen to her opinion. This argument is often directed to the conclusion that the principle of gender equality has finally been implemented in the reality of Minangakabau society. However, in reality, such equality is not found in traditional meetings which are still patriarchal. This patriarchal pattern can also be seen in the philosophy of tali tigo sapilin (three twisted ropes) which symbolizes the three main leaders in Minangkabau society, namely niniak mamak, alim ulama, and cadiak pandai (tribal leader, religious leader, and scholar). The elimination of the Bundo Kanduang element in this philosophy seems to contradict the narrative of equality being promoted. Therefore, this article aims to examine in more depth the patriarchal patterns inherent in traditional books and in the reality of matrilineal Minangkabau society. The method used in this research is the critical analysis method. This research shows that Minangkabau women are, on the one hand, protected in terms of by their welfare by the customs. However, on the other hand, traditional reality shows that Minangkabau women are actually positioned as secondary creation, which is the main feature of patriarchal society.
