The second edition of Daniel A. Monti and Andrew B. Newberg’s Integrative Psychiatry and Brain Health is a comprehensive, in-depth review of integrative treatment approaches for mental health. While its target audience is not child and adolescent psychiatrists, the text has value for psychiatrists who work with children through transition age youth. It also serves as a great crossover book for our neurology and neurofeedback specialist colleagues, given its emphasis on neuroscience and neurophysiology.

The purpose of the current study is to investigate language fluency as a predictor of adolescent depressive symptomatology. We pursued the following research questions: 1) Do hospitalized adolescents (HAs) and nonhospitalized adolescents (NHAs) differ in the frequency of their disfluencies?; and 2) Within each clinical group (HAs and NHAs), do depressive symptoms predict disfluencies?

This presentation will educate providers about the history and evolution of electronic vaping devices (EVDs) and how these devices operate to produce an aerosolized drug of choice to consumers. We will also discuss the health-related outcomes that stem from using these devices and the proposed potential role of EVDs in harm reduction.

In this poster, we aim to examine the impact of irritability, outbursts, and mood dysregulation on help seeking in 5- to 12-year-old outpatients, and the relationship of these symptoms to use of PRN medications for outbursts in 5- to 12-year-old inpatients.

Homelessness among transitional-age youth (TAY) is a widespread and understudied phenomenon linked with psychopathology and substance use disorders (SUDs). We hypothesize that an updated, rigorous description of the prevalence and comorbidity of psychopathology and SUDs in this population will point to syndromic targets for tailored intervention.

Studies have shown that adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) can predict interpersonal difficulties in adulthood. The current study aimed to evaluate the association between childhood trauma and adult interpersonal distress and how attachment theory may help to explain this relationship.

This presentation aims to apply recent findings from the Child/Adolescent Anxiety Multimodal Study (CAMS) and Child/Adolescent Anxiety Multimodal Extended Long-Term Study (CAMELS) to individualize psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacologic treatments for youth with anxiety disorders and to enhance long-term outcomes.

The objectives of this presentation are to understand the clinical characteristics of adolescents with antidepressant treatment–resistant MDD and to examine the usefulness of the Antidepressant Treatment Record (ATR) in adolescents with treatment-resistant depression.

Few studies have examined the relative contributions of mothers' and fathers' positive parenting characteristics (ie, self-efficacy) in relation to parenting stress and problem behaviors in their children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Research testing dyadic models simultaneously examining mother and father effects is also lacking. The first objective was to describe a sample of mothers and fathers and their children with ASD who were hospitalized in a specialized inpatient psychiatric unit. The second objective was to test a dyadic model examining parenting efficacy as a mediator between parental stress and child problem behaviors for both mothers and fathers.

There is limited research on the impact of parental trauma sustained in childhood on the mental health of their offspring. This study elucidates the effect that parents' own childhood trauma has on their offspring in the hope that it will allow clinicians to better understand the transmission of intergenerational trauma and ways to prevent it.
