This document aims to reflect on a social research method that allows for the examination of complex social phenomena through the operationalization of some of its characteristics. It is not a traditional article that presents and analyzes results; rather, its nature is reflective, centering on the presentation and justification of a methodology. To this end, the epistemological and ontological foundations and difficulties of traditional research methodologies are discussed. Additionally, the foundations of the proposed approach are presented, and a case application is exposed, demonstrating the convergence of perspectives in a single study. The document concludes that this method can be essential for holistic, transdisciplinary, and interdisciplinary methodological approaches where different perspectives are required for the same phenomenon.

Introduction: Praxis involves the work of individuals in which social, political, psychological, economic, historical, cultural, institutional, moral, and ethical configurations are intertwined. Nursing professionals and students materialize their praxis with people, families, and communities. Objective: To determine the categories extracted from the scientific literature on community praxis in nursing programs. Method: A narrative review was conducted to interpret scientific studies related to community nursing programs and their practices (2011-2022) in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, using the Virtual Health Library, PubMed, and also Google Scholar. Quality assessment was performed through critical reading based on analysis tools for various study types. The collected data were analyzed using ATLAS.ti version 8 software. Results: Three categories were extracted: the complexity and simplicity of community nursing practices; the contradictions between text and context; and finally, the action and relational creation for education in community nursing. Conclusion: It is necessary to give new meaning to community nursing practices based on the experiences learned and promote an attitude in students and teachers characterized by initiative, solidarity, and trust.

Supercritical transesterification has emerged as a readily available alternative for biodiesel production since no catalyst is required, thereby generating fewer waste products. In this research, the supercritical transesterification of refined vegetable oil and aqueous ethanol was carried out at temperatures 400 to 480 °C and a 12:1 ethanol to oil molar ratio, to assess the effect of temperature and residence time in the formation of a homogeneous phase, effluent appearance and increased water content derived from glycerol etherification. The results showed that water was produced at temperatures higher than 400 °C, as expected from the occurrence of glycerol etherification, and that prolonged times resulted in gas and soot formation, indicating esters decomposition. Through water mass balances, it was possible to identify the set of operation conditions in which the water formed from glycerol etherification matched with the maximum expected according to the proposed reaction scheme.

The importance of food (in)security has been one of the United Nations Sustainable Development’s main goals. Over 828 million people worldwide cannot acquire enough food to meet the minimum daily dietary energy requirements (undernourished). Therefore, the present study examines the factors that affect the number of undernourished people in Colombia by assessing macroeconomic data for the period 2000-2021 including gross domestic product (GDP) per capita, unemployment, and inflation rates. A quantitative, empirical, correlation design was used to examine and describe the relationship among the variables. The findings showed that the proposed variables presented the correct signs, were statistically significant, and were in line with the economic theory. Thus, the study concluded that although income shocks brought on by inflation and unemployment undoubtedly impact household food (in)security, other factors must also be considered for policy and practice to effectively reduce food insecurity for households.

Purpose: This study aims to identify the requirements for the application of total quality in the university educational system in light of the information and technological revolution. Methods: The qualitative analytical descriptive approach was used, the limitations of which are restricted to higher education institutions. Results: The study concluded the need for a feasible and effective educational system, centered on the student through his interaction and active participation, in which computer technologies and information and communication technology represented in local networks and the global Internet play a promising role based on the concept and philosophy of total quality in education. Conclusions: It is concluded that the nature of modern business requires educational and academic institutions to prepare students with a different set of skills other than those adopted by the old education system. The shape of educational institutions will be very different from what it is now, and the shape of the classroom will differ so that there will be a computer for each student, and departments in faculties will be able to communicate with different libraries to get what they want from references, scientific materials or educational software, and the shape of the course will differ from the usual It is likely that it will be replaced by a floppy or optical disk, and there will be a new type of teacher and students.

Introduction: The Social Determinants of Health are those conditions that directly or indirectly influence the life course, the health of individuals and inequalities. Objective: to analyze the scientific evidence on instruments used to measure the Social Determinants of Health. Method: integrative documentary review of publications on this topic in 27 scientific articles, analyzed in ATLAS.ti software. Results: 2019 was the year with the highest number of studies related to Social Determinants of Health, English the predominant language; the United States is the most prolific country in publications; the most evaluated were the health system (70%), education (63%), economic income and housing (55%). Age, gender and ethnicity were assessed in 41%, socioeconomic stratum was not directly assessed. The measurement has been focused on the structural. Conclusion: according to scientific evidence, there is no homogeneity to include in instruments the fundamental Social Determinants of Health that explain inequalities and inequities and the design of generic instruments is an international need to evaluate the structural and intermediate determinants.

Gamification is an underdeveloped didactic method in the microbiology classroom, mainly due to teachers’ limited experience with ICT. However, it can positively influence learning, especially in virtual environments such as those established by the COVID-19 pandemic. This work aimed to analyze the effects of gamification applied to microbiology classes in Biology students in blended and online modalities under the current context. A focus group of students, who experienced the didactics of gamification, Problem-Based Learning, and Project-Based Learning, was surveyed to determine the effects of these methods on its learning. Teachers and graduates also approached gamification, and their responses were analyzed. Students considered that gamification contributed to their engagement in the learning process, increasing the interest in classroom activities. The results also indicated that the three didactic approaches complemented each other and can be integrated into the face-to-face curriculum. Evidence denoted that gamification can indeed enhance cognitive, metacognitive, praxeological, and attitudinal skills, thereby bettering the learning experience.

The purpose of this article is to carry out a detailed review of all the legal aspects that must be taken into account for entrepreneurship in Colombia. In this way, each entrepreneur will be offered a clear guide that can serve as a logbook for their business initiatives. The research is based on a qualitative framework that, with the support of the documentary review, establishes the processes to be followed for each type of company and its characteristics. Knowing the legal framework will make it easier for any entrepreneur to avoid fines, penalties and loss of resources, since by conducting a review prior to the implementation of his productive idea, it will be able to know the national scenario of the enterprise and thus meet the demands according to its line of action.

Bacteria isolated from food contact surfaces, can transfer resistance factors when exposed to pressure exerted by inappropriate use of antimicrobial agents. This study aimed to evaluate bacterial resistance against antibiotics and disinfectants commonly used (NaOCl and CH3COOH) in bacteria isolated from food contact surfaces. Additionally, using PCR, the presence of tetracycline resistance genes was evaluated. Results showed that 47% of the isolates exhibit resistance against more than one antibiotic, being Tetracycline the antibiotic that most isolates were resistant to (35.3%). A PCR analysis found that the tet M gene is the most frequent of the genes tested. Likewise, it was evidenced that although NaOCl is effective as a surface disinfectant, Aerococcus urinae and Kocuria kristinae isolates could resist up to 10 min of exposure. Likewise, all isolates were resistant to CH3COOH, demonstrating the low inhibitory capacity of this disinfectant. Finally, the observed correlation between resistance to antibiotics and resistance to disinfectants is confirmed. An important factor that should be studied since the generalized use of disinfectants can increase the spectrum of antibiotic resistance.

An observational cross-sectional study with a descriptive approach was carried out with the objective of determining the risk due to exposure to chemical agents, dangerous atmospheres and defining recommendations to improve working conditions in the coal mines of Tópaga (Boyacá). During the data collection process was used the questionnaire for the identification and prevention of risk in confined spaces, of the National Institute of Safety and Hygiene at Work. Moreover, gas measurements were made in the mines. The results show that 25% of the mines have oxygen levels below 19.5% and none exceed the explosive limit. 15% exceed the Permissible Limit Value (VLP) for carbon monoxide and 20% exceed the VLP for hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide. The proposed recommendations include favoring natural ventilation, applying forced ventilation when the natural one is insufficient and the use of non-sparking shoes and tools. It is concluded that, in general, the working conditions in the mines are inadequate for the safety and health of the miners.
