Abstract

AbstractMarinobufagin, which has the formula C24H32O5, is a 3,5‐dihydroxysteroid on the basis of chemical evidence. β‐Orientation of the C‐5 HO‐group can be deduced from molecular rotation differences between Marinobufagin and some of its derivatives. The spatial arrangement of the HO‐group at C‐3 is most probably the same1. Marinobufagin contains no tertiary hydroxyl at C‐14 and the fifth oxygen‐atom of this genin must be located in an oxide‐ring of unknown size, about which no precise statements can be made.
