Abstract

The addition of dimethylamine and dimethylphosphine, respectively, to (CH 3) 3SiCHCH 2, (CH 3) 2Si(CHCH 2) 2, and (C 6H 5) 2Si(CHCH 2) 2 in the presence of LiN(CH 3) 2 or LiP(CH 3) 2 as catalyst has been investigated. The addition to the methylvinylsilanes gives the 2-amino-, and 2-phosphinoethyl derivatives in high yields (> 80%), while with (C 6H 5) 2Si(CHCH 2) 2 a vigorous polymerization occurs. The methylvinylsilanes can be polymerized at a lower rate in the presence of catalytic amounts of n-C 4H 9Li, LiN(CH 3) 2 or LiP(CH 3) 2. The products obtained were identified by analytical and spectroscopic (PMR and IR) methods.
