Abstract

AbstractThe authors show that the zone‐refining method used by them previously in the case of KCl is effective for KBr, RbCl, RbBr and CsCl as well. The attainable purity for M2+ is better than 10−8 mole/mole. In the case of NaCl and NaBr they propose to replace Ca2+ ions with Ba2+ ones by chemical means before zone melting. By this method NaCl single crystals of 2 × 10−7 mole/mole purity were produced.
