Abstract
The subject of the description in the article are metalinguistic comments of the residents of the villages of the former Łomża and Suwałki provinces, which contain information relating to their attitude to linguistic changes. Various types of chronological qualifiers, also called metatextual operators, metadialect operators, distance signals show the diachrony – synchrony relationship between words distinguished in the speaker's awareness [obsolete (archaic, old words) – new words].
