Abstract
The Feast of the Nativity of Christ in its liturgical celebrations resembles the most important of all feasts - the Resurrection of Christ. One similarity is the extended pre-Christmas period, the last days of which (20-24 December) resemble Holy Week. The apogee of spiritual preparation is the vigil, at which a canon is sung that paraphrases the canon of the Holy Saturday Matins. This article is a translation of the canon with commentary.
