Abstract

The introduction and rapid commercial utilization of zeolite cracking catalysts in the early 1960's effectively caused a rebirth of interest in the cracking process as an efficient means of obtaining high yields of valuable petroleum products. Intensive research and engineering efforts were quickly instituted to optimize the catalytic properties of the catalysts and their usage in commercial cracking units. This paper presents an overview of the results of these efforts.
