Abstract
The aim of the article is to show the ways of illustrating old age in the poetry of Desanka Maksimović and Urszula Kozioł. Making the experience the supreme research category al- lowed for empathic contact with the works of the Serbian and the Polish artist and herme- neutic reading of their poems. Attention was focused on a few issues, such as the passing of life, the importance of creative activity, love, overcoming physical limitations, loneliness, and the passing of loved ones. In the final part there are indications that old age can offer to youth.
