Abstract

A YouTube search was conducted on 04.04.2023 using the keywords “orogastric tube insertion”, “orogastric tube placement” and “neonatal” to examine the content, usefulness, quality, and reliability of YouTube videos for nurses about orogastric tube insertion in neonatal patients. The content of the selected videos was analyzed by two independent reviewers. Twenty videos that met the inclusion criteria were evaluated according to the NOGTIC, DISCERN, and GQS scores. It was determined that 10.0% of the videos were somewhat useful, 55.0% were moderately useful and 35.0% were very useful. The kappa value between the two independent reviewers was 0.81. 40.0% of the videos scored two points from DISCERN and 40.0% scored two points from GQS. A very strong positive correlation was found between DISCERN, GQS, and NOGTIC total scores (p < .01).
