Summary

Introduction

Common bean is the most important pulse crops grown in central, southern, eastern and western lowland and mid altitudes of Ethiopia. Its use as a readily available source of protein for farmers, it is an important cash crop and export commodity that generate foreign exchange for the country [1]. It is the major staple food supplementing the protein source for the poor farmers who cannot afford to buy expensive meat. The current national average yield of common bean is 1.77 tons ha-1. This yield is far less than the attainable yield (2.5-3.6 tons ha-1) under good management conditions [3]
