Abstract

What is the infamous Y2K or millennium bug and how important is it to the orthodontist? Experts have warned that computers around the world will fail at the start of the next century if internal clocks that record only the last two digits of each year are unable to cope with the change from 99 to 00. The problem is derived from the use of only two digits for dates on hardware and software in order to save space when space was precious in the early days of computing.
