Abstract
The article explores the importance of historical facts. Historical facts are the source material for each study, which makes them one of the most important aspects of scientific activity. The relevance of this study is expressed in order to reveal the true motives, the objectivity of the conclusions and the accuracy of the conclusions made on the basis of the existing historical facts of the ethnic history of the Uzbek people. The article shows how Western constructivist theory is put in opposition to the Soviet primordialist theory. Both theories have both strengths and weaknesses in the approach, and following only one of them leads to ongoing disputes between researchers of these theories. It is explained that if you follow constructivist theory, you will have to abandon the historical heritage of several centuries, recognize that the Uzbek people appeared on the historical scene only thanks to the wishes of individual people. If you follow the primordial theory, this entails a constant pursuit of ancient roots, which can lead to the construction of an already ancient ethnic history of the ethnos. Therefore, it is important to find a middle ground and highlight historical events without any political, economic or personal interests.
