Abstract
From the heartwood of Calophyllum neo-ebudicum Guillaumin 6-desoxyjacareubin, jacareubin, and 2-(3,3-dimethyl)-1,3,5,6,-tetrahydroxyxanthone have been isolated. β-Sitosterol is also present in the heartwood. The taxonomic significance of the presence of the xanthones in Calophyllum species is discusssed.
