Abstract

The origin of a chain of hills en échelon, in the Aristarchus region of the Moon, is discussed. It is considered that the hills largely resulted from dyke extrusions along Riedel shear-fractures, and that the chain represents a zone of west-north-west-east-south-east, right-handed (dextral) wrench movement.
